Rove: ‘I Make No Apologies’ For Any Of Administration’s Mistakes Or Lies

rovebush1674.jpgThis weekend at the Aspen Ideas Festival, President Bush’s political adviser Karl Rove seemed incapable of uttering a single honest statement.

Facing a chilly reception from the audience, who “shook their heads and groaned in unison” during the speech, Rove grossly distorted administration’s policies, on everything from Guantanamo to Iraq to the leak case:

On Guantanamo:

“Our principal health problem down there is gain of weight, we feed them so well.” In fact, Guantanamo prisoners are facing a mental health crisis, with over 40 suicide attempts since its opening, including one suicide in May. Some have been so severely tortured that they were treated by “experts in treating torture victims.”

On Iraq:

“80-90 percent of violence in Iraq is due to al Qaeda.” As former Secretary of State Colin Powell noted earlier in the conference, only 10 percent of violence in Iraq is due to al Qaeda. As the Carpetbagger noted, “by all indications, Powell was rounding up.” Now, the mainstream media is buying into the al Qaeda fearmongering, as Glenn Greenwald reported.

“We all thought [Saddam Hussein] had weapons of mass destruction. The whole world did.” U.N.weapons inspectors and prominent members of the international community strongly disagreed with this assessment before the invasion. One weapons inspector referred to pre-war U.S. intelligence as “garbage after garbage after garbage.”

On the CIA leak case:

“My contribution to this was to say to a reporter, which is a lesson about talking to reporters, the words ‘I heard that, too.’” Rove leaked Valerie Plame’s identity not only to Novak, but to Time’s Matthew Cooper. Cooper said his conversation with Rove was the first time he heard anything about Plame.

Despite participating in egregious and illegal wrongdoings, Rove expressed unwaivering confidence in his boss’s decisions. “Look, I make no apologies,” he said.

Digg It!

Why do you presist in these childish outbursts? They don’t get anybody riled up, they’re nonsensical or delusional and they don’t add to any conversation. This one, for instance, calling for a ticket of Cheny/Rove in ‘08, would be an epic disaster of biblical proportions for the Republicans, guaranteeing a President Clinton or Obama or Gore.

So you can’t actually believe it (but when was that ever a requirement for your posts, Mr. Pee?) yet you still shout it out at inpportune moments.

Is it a form of Troll Tourette’s Syndrome maybe?

“Our principal health problem down there is gain of weight, we feed them so well
Believe it or don’t, this may not be a lie. The body does have a tendency to gain weight (store fat) when there is no excercise or space for activity (i.e. solitary confinement)

“80-90 percent of violence in Iraq is due to al Qaeda.” “We all thought [Saddam Hussein] had weapons of mass destruction. The whole world did.”
O.K. Let’s see, what did the Coalition of the UnWilling consist of? Roughly 95% of the earth’s entire countries (remember the asinine Freedom Fries) wanted proof because they knew Hussein had no WMD!

“Look, I make no apologies,” he said.

Anyone would gain weight if they were kept in a small cage with very little exercise, especially if they’re fed low quality food high in carbohydrates. Stress has also been linked to weight gain.

White House fails to get Al Qaeda in 2005
By: John Amato @ 12:15 PM – PDT
So much for the “war on terror,” theme that this White House uses.

A secret military operation in early 2005 to capture senior members of Al Qaeda in Pakistan’s tribal areas was aborted at the last minute after top Bush administration officials decided it was too risky and could jeopardize relations with Pakistan, according to intelligence and military officials.

But the mission was called off after Donald H. Rumsfeld, then the defense secretary, rejected an 11th-hour appeal by Porter J. Goss, then the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, officials said. Members of a Navy Seals unit in parachute gear had already boarded C-130 cargo planes in Afghanistan when the mission was canceled, said a former senior intelligence official involved in the planning…read on

If it should be established that in fact that is the case then all he deserves is a blindfold and a cigarette. Make no mistake, however, even when Rove leaves the scene has been busy grooming proteges to carry on his anti-democratic, anti-American work.

  88. Krazny says:

The future troubles will come from all the revisionists, who will look back upon Bush, and his cohorts, as a shining example of America. There will be more Rove’s in the future, on both sides of the aisles. make no mistake power corrupts.

He only knows one way of conducting himself, unfortunately for him once the light of day hits a cockroach they tend to scurry away, much like past neo-con inspired administrations.

Problem is they retreat in to the darkness only to re-appear once again when they can exploit society with fear mongering, lies, divisive politics etc…

For instance here are but a few examples::

Cold war & Russia’s mysterious arms build up that wasn’t there. so what did they do, make shit up, jeesh sound familiar?

For example, when they couldn’t prove that Russia had sophisticated sonar tech in their subs this was presented as evidence that Russia had defense capabilities that we couldn’t detect. Therefore we should be very scared and accelerate our own war machine. Rummy was in on this one.

Propagandize your own citizens or try and censor the news so that reality fits your fantasy and keeps the citizenry quiet and in step (goose-step if you prefer)

Well we saw this is in Vietnam and we’re seeing it again with Bushco and friends.

Oh Ollie, don’t you wish you could be in the game again rather than pontificating from the sidelines?

Global warming? Just shut the scientists/experts up and hire some hacks to spread dis-information and lies.

Of course we’re currently experiencing the rationale arguement against Universal Medicare b/c it may breed terrorism. Yah, that ones audacious, but hey, thats at least one thing they have going for them that could be construed as good?

Anyway, the list goes on, add to it if you can think of other examples, I know you can.

So Rove is fading….the thing is that there’ll be another re-incarnation of the Neo-Conservative movement, the grand experiment in Iraq failed, their ideas are in tatters, but they’ll regroup and crawl back in to the mainstream once again when the situation allows for it. Another time where the populace needs leadership and not fear-mongering will give rise to another Decider/Uniter who refers to the government as ‘my government’ who instead of uniting and leading us to a more prosperous and peaceful time, divides us and plunges the world back in to darkness, because thats where a cockroach feels most at home.

  90. VerbalKint says:

What a psychopath. Pretty soon Rove will be muttering these same things to himself while pacing his jail cell.

I’d like to be the first to toss them a life jacket…made out of lead.

  98. OxyCon says:

Rove and Bush will only be welcomed in America by the 26 percenters for the rest of their miserable lives (Cheney by 19%).
This is the way these people wanted it, too.
They divided this country for their political gain, with total contempt for over half of the country.
Well, it’s a pitty that their “permanent right wing base” is now a paltry 26%.
I’m sure these scumbags will be welcomed in Gatlinburg, and a few other truckstops in the South. But they can forget about being welcomed by most of the country.
I hope Rove enjoyed his stay is Aspen. The way that crowd treated him is the way he will spend the rest of his miserable life.

U can tell that it’s super double-plus serious cuz he put it in bold. Hey preznit, r u sure yer not just emboldening us with this kind of rhetoric?

  102. veritas says:

If we are going to blame Rove and the administration for hyping flawed intelligence, then we have to blame a crap load of democrats too.

  103. The Oracle says:

Karl Rove will still be saying “I make no apologizes” even as he’s introduced to the devil after reaching his final roasting…er, resting place.

But Rove will have to get in line. Bush will be there. And Cheney. And Addington. And Card. And Libby. And Gonzales. And Goody-Goody Goodling. And a slew of other blindly righteous neo-con Republican fools, who’ve done more damage to our democracy than the Communist or al Qaeda could ever hope for in their wildest dreams.

  104. Probus says:

If things are going so well at Gitmo why has Bush expressed a desire to close it down? Rove can spin this all he likes but the fact remains that Gitmo has undermined our moral authority and leadership in the world. That is why Rice and Gates and in favor of closing Gitmo down.

The violence in Iraq is due to the civil war between the Shiias and the Sunnis. Bush had been warned before the invasion that it would erupt, but he ignored this advice. Al Qaeda related violence is not responsible for the majority of the attacks. This is a civil war we have sent our troops to fight whether Rove likes it or not.

Most of the world was not convinced that Saddam had WMDs. That is why Powell had to work so hard to try to convince the international community based on falsehoods. He failed to do so, because China, Russia, France remained unconvinced. Bush in the end chose to invade Iraq with a poorly formed coalition. In the end he only found support with Britain and other low profile countries.

Rove did more than just talk to a reporter. He outed Valarie Plame’s covert identity to the press. While he may have not been charged with a crime he was definitely involved in it. That is why he testified 5 times before the grand jury in the Libby case. He and 6 other members of this administration leaked her name to get back at her husband a vocal critic of this war.

  105. hterrya says:

Lying, corrupt, crooked, perverted, drug-induced, hypocrite Rove: Today he is Olbermann’s WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD!

  106. vista says:

What’s more, Rove had to head back to the Grand Jury to change his testimony FIVE TIMES… in other words he lied there, too, but got a pass…

  107. O. Bigfoot says:

“Despite participating in egregious and illegal wrongdoings, Rove expressed unwaivering confidence in his boss’s decisions. “Look, I make no apologies,” he said.”

What illegal wrongdoings? Has Rove been charged with doing anything illegal in any court of law anywhere in the world? No?

    If that changes, we’ll talk.

In the meantime, all you nay-sayers are just spouting more useless, idle chatter. But it’s good for a laugh.

Really, you ought to get out and enjoy life!

  108. Broderjokelinesnightmare says:

Will they ever find and capture him?

Rove, I mean. Osama too. And Rove.

  111. Bon Chance says:

“Look, I make no apologies,” he said.”

The classic response of the psychopath…

And whoever above said that Rove has never been indicted for anything has a very short memory!

  112. Linda Carpenter says:

Why is he still walking around? Who cares what he says? He should already be in prison for treason, and committing perjury and obstruction of justice. Democrats in the House Of Representatives! IMPEACH NOW Get Bush Cheney and Rove and the rest of the liars out of our house! NOW before they lie and kill more innocent people! What are you waiting for! They will get us into another war, they are already changing the word from insurgent to Al Queda in the mass media which does whatever they tell it! These guys are so bad they are destroying our nation and the planet.

    Help America!

  113. Bob Hannan says:

I actually get a chuckle out of “Mr President’s” “outbursts”.
They come out of the blue and are terribly inappropriate
    but that’s the point . . . I think.

    I may be wrong but
I believe he is acting as a devil’s advocate trying to
stir things up with ridiculous comments which – as I see it – can only
    be meant as jokes.

    Lighten up . . . I mean.
Mr Pee cannot be serious. Can he?

  114. citizenjane says:

    more unsubstantiated trolling:

    Comment by Jonny — July 10, 2007 @ 9:44 am

If all those no-brainers out there think the cases against Gitmo detainees are such no-brainers, why don’t they pass that, uh, ‘intelligence’ on to the proper authorities?

And, Jonny – the part about lies wasn’t in quotes because it wasn’t a quote. It was TP’s interpretation. Hey, Jonny can read! Maybe someday he’ll get up to the 6th grade and his larnin’ will be complete!

Bush, at the time of the invasion, did not know there were different kinds of Muslims in Iraq; Sunni, Shia, and Kurds.
