Chris Bowers writes, “Today Bush reached a historic milestone. His current disapproval rating in the latest Gallup poll, 66%, equals Richard Nixon’s highest Gallup disapproval rating of 66%, registered the week before he resigned from office.”
My personal prognostication would be that Bush will finally have an accomplishment on his side of the ledger!! Hooray! His numbers will be the lowest for the longest amount of time! Well, finally, the Shrub accomplished something which will go down in history along with him - finally! Cause to celebrate!
Unfortunately, GDumbya doesn’t pay attention to polls. There are no polls in the little bubble that he inhabits and he truly doesn’t believe that he is accountable to the American public.

How can he be impeached when we have a bunch of dems who act like there scared of himm all the time? You and I know that there is no way he will be impeached the dems are such pussies at least the repubs came together and tried to impeach clinton I can say they were tough enough to go against the grain.
Now that McCain’s campaign is over, will he still back Bush, or will he try to redeem himself and use whatever is left of the respect people had for him to support changing course in Iraq?
Remember, it wasn’t the Dems who drove Nixon out of office: it was GOP members of congress, ditching Nixon to save their own sorry asses. Same goes this time: Dems can’t dump Bush by themselves.
Interesting, because I think the same thing about Leftists with all their crazy conspiracies, wild-eyed visions and calling everyone who dare disagree with them fascists, racists or Nazis.

Oh, and the thought of a Republican President following this current act is laughable at best, pitiful at worst. If it actually came to pass I would only be able to believe it was because of voter suppression and “faulty” electronic voting machines. Well…that is how GW initially won anyhow!
Whether or not impeachment is a “huge loser at the polls” depends on what it’s for. Americans saw the impeachment of Bill Clinton for what it was — a witch hunt — and Clinton never lost the support of his party (if anything, it galvanized). That impeachment didn’t help the Republicans.
On the other hand, Nixon DID lose the support of his party. He was never impeached (he resigned when he saw the handwriting on the wall), but the House Judiciary Committee did pass three articles of impeachment before the resignation — a definite factor in Nixon leaving. The Dems made gains in Congress in 1974, and took back the White House in 1976. Not much of “huge loser”, I’d say.
So what’s the difference? I guess the American people can accept lying about sex, but they have real problems with showing contempt for Congress, using other government agencies to cover up illicit activities and take down political enemies, firing special prosecutors, and trampling all over the Constitution. Hmmm — which of these sounds like our current situation?
It’s my moonbat sisters would don’t sleep well. I mean with Karl Rove listening to their phone calls and the worlds dumbest Nazi ruining the country everyday, how could they be expected to sleep well?

Riiiight… and you guys on the right, like Malkin or Coulter calling for the gassing of judges and hanging reporters from light ploes, are the voice of **cough… cough** “moderation” in Amercian poltics.
Isn’t it interesting that Congress acts completely opposite of the Will of the People?
In Clinton’s time, with is approval ratings over 70%, a ReichWingNut congress, over the objections of the majority of US citizens, rushed to impeach Bill for having an affair. No on died. No one treasonously lied.
In Emperor Bush’s time, with approval ratings less than 30%, a Democrat controlled congress, over the objections of the majority of US citizens, takes impeachment OFF THE TABLE, in spite of abundance of evidence that We the People have been lied to, taken advantage of, killed in far off lands that did nothing to threaten us, and who have been illegally spied upon. Hundreds of thousands have died. The Emperor has treasonously lied.
Go figure.
I think it’s time to send a message to Ms. Pelosi, register as an Independent, run someone against her and all the Dems who fail to demand the Emperor be investigated for His wrongdoings, and then consider reregistering as a Dem just prior to the election cycle ONLY IF the Dems shape up!
Instead of ad hominem attacks on those with whom you disagree, Ringo, why don’t you tell us what makes Bush a good President? Go on: make a list of his successes for us, dumbass.
If you can’t, then maybe you should shut yer whiny trap.
He doesn’t run the presidency by polls and numbers. He knows what has to be done and the public opinion be damned. That’s exactly how a wartime leader should behave.

Bzzzt wrong. A “leader” would start the draft, so that we’re not paying billions to private contractors with no bid contracts to be doing what the Military does for half the price.
A wartime leader does not tell his populace to “Go Shopping”.
A real leader asks all Americans to make sacrifices.

A formidable task, but one of the few real successes bush can claim - making nixon look like a law abiding citizen. Of course he couldn’t have done it without cheney, who peformed his apprenticeship in political crime in nixon’s whitehouse.
WRONG! In order to qualify as ‘unemployed’ officially, you must be registered with the Dept of Labor and be actively seeking work by their strict guidelines. This excludes many people. Our unemployment rate is more like 10%.
3) Lowered tax rates
WRONG! Taxes lowered for the upper tax brackets only actually cut federal social programs that hurt everyone else.
4) Judge Alito 5) Judge Roberts
WRONG! They are hurting our Constitution.
6) Liberation of Afghanistan (still work to be done, far from perfect but far better than under the Taliban)
WRONG! The Taliban under King George is actually STRONGER than before he invaded them.
7) Removal of Baath rule from Iraq (still a big mess though, I admit that)
WRONG! Iraq was a secular country prior to Bush’s occupation of it.
There’s a start.
Start? You didn’t even get one… Might wanna try the perch. There’s a reason it’s Chimp’s only claim…

1> Economy is horrible, use your brain and google “Personal Savings” and you’ll see it’s at a 73 year low, meaning working people are saving less. Also google foreclosures, and you’ll see we’re at an all time high.
2> Low unemployment doesn’t count those no longer eligible to receive benefits, as well as those underemployed.
3> Lowered tax rates of the top 3%, any tax cuts the average American has seen, was lost in higher taxes from state/local, as well as costs of items like gas.
4 & 5> Great two corporate whores who have voted again and again against the working man.
6> Afghanistan is a failure! Like Iraq, keep telling yourself otherwise.
7> Not even viable, so you removed a pimple, it got infected, and now has grown into a huge ass tumor.
I recently saw a statistic that showed how the jobs being cut in the US make an average of $43k per year, while the new jobs being created only make about $36k per year.

I’m at work so I’ve got to get back to it, but here’s a start:
When I read this list of Chimpy’s “accomplishments”, I actually laughed out loud. I’d like to address these “accomplishments” one at a time, if I may:
1) Strong economy
By whose measure? Big business? Are you going to cite GDP as your metric, even though the gap between the middle class and the ultra-rich has been increasing at a breakneck pace?
Sorry, Ringo, but “strong economy” isn’t an accomplishment if 99% of Americans don’t benefit from it. Let’s move on.
2) Low unemployment
Your “low unemployment” figures don’t take into account the number of unemployed who have exhausted their unemployment and are still without work. They also don’t take into account those who are no longer seeking employment. The true picture is very different from what you would like us to think when you blithely yammer “low unemployment”.
3) Lowered tax rates
Again, this “accomplishment” is for the benefit of the ultra-rich, and does not benefit 99% of the American people. Again, it cannot be honestly counted in the “accomplishment” column.
4) Judge Alito
How is this an accomplishment? It’s perhaps an ideological victory for Fundies and Big Business, but I’d hardly call it an “accomplishment”.
5) Judge Roberts
See above.
6) Liberation of Afghanistan (still work to be done, far from perfect but far better than under the Taliban)
Hardly. The Taliban are now acting openly throughout Afghanistan. Seeing as how the reason for the invasion of Afghanistan was ostensibly the capture or death of Osama bin Laden, I really don’t see how you can in good conscience put this one in the “accomplishment” column when OBL is still at large, and your beloved Chimpy is on record as stating that he’s “really not all that concerned with him”.
7) Removal of Baath rule from Iraq (still a big mess though, I admit that)
Ah ha ha!
Ah ha ha ha!
Ah ha ha ha ha!
Ah ha ha ha ha ha!
Thanks…that was the best laugh I’ve had all week. Attempting to score the hideous debacle that is Iraq under American occupation in the “accomplishments” column takes an amazing amount of chutzpah…it’s positively TonnySnowesque. You have a bright future as a Press Secretary…or a fiction writer.
“BTW I am not a big fan of George W. Bush, I just find the Democrats even more repulsive.

Aw ringo, you poor thing. I’ve been hearing the ‘but I’m not a big bush fan’ line more and more from you freaks. You’re a sucker and by the time dumbya is done with us you’ll never admit having supported him at all.
Probably not a lot of people are surprised by the president’s low approval ratings. The main cause of President’s Bush’s ratings is obviously the war in Iraq. I believe the people in this country are fed up with Bush’s senseless war and the lack of domestic policies. There are much more important issues in this world that the US should be taking part in, such as global poverty. According to the Borgen Project, whose goal is to fight global poverty, US is one of the nations pledged in the Millennium Development Project. MDP is aimed at eliminating world poverty in half by the year 2015. However, this country has done anything but reducing poverty. The war on “terror†has created more poverty, more hunger and more violence within Iraq and the United States. It is time for this country’s president to rethink the direction where this great nation is going. Perhaps the second lowest approval rating since Watergate will be a wake up call to President Bush.
30%ers = bedwetting bootlickers who crave a “daddy” figure to protect them
70%ers = the majority of your countrymen, ya screechy bootlicker.
Are you saying 70% of Americans are Bolsheviks? LOL!! You nutjobs live in Fantasyland. No wonder you’re incapable of winning wars. You don’t have what it takes: regular contact with reality.
These comments are hilarious, I’ll give you guys a hint…stop looking at this as a 2 party system that you have to like one and hate the other. No president has been perfect and few have spiraled downhill enough to think about the big I word. There’s a right wing and a left wing conspiracy and you really have to look at the facts to learn what’s right and wrong. The problem (that this site illustrates) is that facts are much more ‘left’ because the ‘right’ tries to make things up. I think in the past 5 or 6 entries there’s been at least 1 person from the right caught lying in each entry. If you’re going to run a campaign on lies expect there to be a backlash. The left get much less backlash as they’re not caught lying as much. Except when it comes to getting BJ’s from ugly chicks.
And to the people who think we voted for Bush twice we in fact didn’t, both times the popular vote went to the democrat, the people spoke, but the system is flawed. My vote doesn’t count in the current system, my vote does not = one vote.
Democrats don’t have the BALLS to seek impeachment. Lost in the MSM’s love fest last fall when the Dems swept to power was the little glib about all the Blue Dogs who got elected. They won’t support impeachment - YOU DON’T HAVE THE VOTES!!! lol!!! What a spineless, wimpy, Democratic party.
As for those who cry Bush has the support for his own GOP - he lost support because he didn’t come down hard the media and the liberal establishment after Abu Graib, Rathergate and Katrina. He’s let you vicious, hate mongers dictate the debate when he should have shut down the press like FDR did so we could win the war.
Mr P. I rank above you so let’s correct your statement:
In the 3 brain cells of a Rightie:
Christian = Islam = Both want their god in everyones lives, or die.
Democracy = Evil unless it’s christian democracy, see above. All must worship the same god, only white men get to vote
Capitalism, well the bible does mention selling your daughter. Even the pope said “unchecked capitalism is worse then Communism”
Freedom = As long as your doing it the christian way, you know with a bible, a gun, a Budweiser and a male hooker. (and crack pipe)
Morals: Those are only for the sheep like Mr P. Your religious and political leaders have none. And when those morals break down, claim you asked me for forgiveness, say you were molested by your preacher when you were a child. As well you have a Budweiser problem.
If Bush shut down the media like FDR did in WW2, and sent all Muslims to camps (Like FDR did to the Japs) and nuked terror sponsoring nations (like Truman did tp the Japs), we could win this war.

No it proves the power of the delusion. Morality too is a powerful delusion. Screw the poor and weak no one has an moral obligation to them. Power to the powerful.
Lano: “How can he be impeached when we have a bunch of dems who act like there scared of himm all the time? You and I know that there is no way he will be impeached the dems are such pussies at least the repubs came together and tried to impeach clinton I can say they were tough enough to go against the grain.”
Evidently the realities of how our Congress works are still too complex for many of us. If you can’t override a veto, you cannot impeach. Period. You seem to prefer the last republican congress’ approach which was to stage a strictly political theater show which had no chance of succeeding because the crimes were not there. Democrats are smarter than that. Why should they engage in political theater when they have more important issues to face? Besides, there is no statute of limitations on war crimes. There’s nothing to stop a future democratic congress with supermajorities in both houses and a Democrat in the Whitehouse from bringing Bush and Cheney up for war crimes and remanding them to the World Court for trial.
Nice. President Bush is reaching Nixonian levels of disapproval and the Trolls still support him. *gets out lawn chair and popcorn to watch* I wonder when the Democrats will turn to Dubya and tell him, “Go Cheney yourself!” ;)
The only real question at this point, is how much lower they can go? Sure there are people who will support him, read through the right wing circle jerk on this thread, but the majority of americans aren’t buying the act anymore. Bush is a radical right extremist, who was able to disguise himself as a moderate.
Sadly the damage is already done at this point. It will take decades to rebuild what he has destroyed.
Congress could have those numbers and triple that, if they stopped the war, and brought our troops home, instead of caving to Bush. A pretty simple equation if you ask me.
#89….”how much lower can they go?”. I believe that we will witness this in the very near future. They’re heading south as we chat here with the “new white house plan” which is the biggest bunch of bogus doubletalk on the planet. I’d say they’ll drop a few points in the next few days.
What do these low numbers mean, however, would be the next question. They mean, in no uncertain terms, that this president and his cadre of criminals, are definitely “out of sync” with the people whom they serve at the pleasure of….and who, incidentally, pay their salaries.
It also indicates that this Shrub is the epitome of a “lameduck” president (which, in his case, is certainly an understatement when one conjures up definitions of the term “lame”….as well as the impotency associated with the term “duck”.
It means, without question, that Bush’s Reign of Terror is over, for all intents and purposes. And now it’s time to “rein him in”, bring appropriate charges against him and his henchmen, and bring them to the justice in this country they so deserve having broken the existing laws…..and then we can turn them over to the Hague who definitely has “big plans” for each of them. They’re just rubbing their hands together and salivating right now….knowing that they may suffer the same sentence as Saddam - for precisely those same crimes.
Depends on how long my lifetime lasts, veritas. It took 40 years to realize the Truman legacy.
Comment by m12 — July 10, 2007 @ 2:48 pm
No in 40 years you GOP’ers will spin (read lie) about this, just like you all like to think Reygun caused the collapse of the Soviet Union. When what REALLY caused it’s collapse was it was a war based economy.. (Afghanistan)
Funny now America has a war based economy, we don’t make anything here any more, we don’t lead the world in tech advances, service, science, the only thing we lead the world in is Debt, ignorant Christians, and fat people.
Wouldn’t it be ironic that Afghanistan (Iraq) caused both the worlds super powers to fail.
President Clinton’s low approval never sank as much as either Bush 1 or 2 or Reagan and he high disapproval never was as high as Bush 1 or 2 or Reagan. And yet you never hear the trolls trump that fact! Ya just gotta feel sorry for the trolls and their fantasy dreams. No matter how much they say something, reality always slaps them right upside their pointy little brainless skulls!

July 10th, 2007 at 12:17 pmIsn’t it interesting that Congress acts completely opposite of the Will of the People?

July 10th, 2007 at 12:45 pm#49 - question: Anyone else secretly rooting for Bush to beat Nixon on disapproval ratings?
In a strangely perverse way, yes.
I watched as Nixon went down to save the Republic. Who knew the man would do the right thing?
I watch, in horror, as Emperor Bush takes down a former great Republic. Who knew that the man would delight in making a mess of things?
July 10th, 2007 at 12:45 pm1) Strong economy
WRONG! The DEOW does not represent the economy.
2) Low unemployment

July 10th, 2007 at 12:55 pmRingo sez:

July 10th, 2007 at 12:59 pmProbably not a lot of people are surprised by the president’s low approval ratings.

July 10th, 2007 at 1:08 pmThese comments are hilarious, I’ll give you guys a hint…stop looking at this as a 2 party system that you have to like one and hate the other.

Freedom = As long as your doing it the christian way, you know with a bible, a gun, a Budweiser and a male hooker. (and crack pipe)

Sure there are people who will support him, read through the right wing circle jerk on this thread, but the majority of americans aren’t buying the act anymore.
