Obviously you do, else you would not have spent moments of your life which you can never regain responding to this article.

Full Pardon… come on Bush, do the right thing.

  8. J. Lebowski says:

Me. If we’re going to be spending 25K a year incarcerating people, it’d might as well be these hacks.

Any GOP candidate in 2008, dumbass. Bush is not only making his own name radioactive: he’s destroying the GOP brand. The party of law & order? Ehhh, not so much.

  11. Chris says:

I care, he effectively pardoned someone for perjury who not only worked for the white house but it’s quite possible he took orders from the white house to lie and is now off the hook for it.

There’s only one time where a president got close to doing what he just did and we all know what happened to him.

He should have been smart and kept his nose out of it till his last day. Just like Clinton did, just like they all have.

  12. Patrick1 says:

But according to Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC: “They’re going to try to really tamp this down and appeal to the polling which indicates that most people think, in fact, that [Libby] should be pardoned. Scooter Libby should be pardoned.”

See!!! Proof positive that TP is wrong. Adrea Mitchell knows what real American’s are thinking, she even talks about polling…….who cares if she doesn’t cite any actual poll.. She say’s what I want to hear and that’s all that matters! Stupid libs. Victory for Libby!!

  13. The Captain says:

These are what 1000 people that were polled said they wanted, not of all Americans. I don’t care about this poll.

Bush says he’s gettin’ worried about how history will judge him.

  18. missmolly says:

Why don’t the Democrats “do” anything about it? As unsavory as it is, Bush can commute or pardon anybody he wants to (so could Clinton, and so can any president). UNLESS — it’s part of a quid pro quo arrangement, or to cover up illegal activity.

I would like to see an investigation into the matter. Because Libby was an exec branch staffer (despite what Cheney claims his “branch” is), it’s entirely possible that Bush could personally gain something from the deal (like Libby’s silence).

Clinton’s last-minute pardons were reviewed extensively by Congress, in a process lasting several months. Surely Libby’s commutation warrants the same treatment.

  19. Bob says:

Justice is the loser when politics is more important than The Law. It takes a genuine Hypocrit to decide that a relatively minimal sentence is excessive while at the same time holding persons for years without charges.

Bush has no respect for The Law.

  22. veritas says:

Miss Molly – Every american with a pulse knows that Bush’s pardon was a “quid pro quo” which is highly illegal. He will be impeached for it someday soon. Of this I am certain.

  23. veritas says:

Now all we have to do is get the Dems to grow some cajones and act on this obvious and capricious “quid pro quo”.

The President has his powers. He exercised them properly. It’s Done deal.

    PARDON!

  25. Tom says:

Full Pardon… come on Bush, do the right thing.

    Comment by Mr. President

Nope. Not gonna happen. At least not until shrubya is walking out the WH door in jan 09. There was a political reason Bush did not pardon Libby. Can you guess why Bush didn’t outright pardon libby? If you are a student of history and certainly current events, you would be able to figure out why. Think about it. Think about reasons which are more favorable to Bush and shooter – not the american public and you will discover the answer.

  26. veritas says:

TP carried the story and I recall that it said that bush impulsively decided on the commutation of the sentence and failed to check with his lawyers about the sensibility in doing so or the legality of so doing. Beep! It’s over, Mr. President! This mistake you will not squirm yourself out of!

Drunk on the intoxicating fumes of his own perceived power, he acted impulsively finally here and broke a cardinal, constitutional rule for which he is going to pay dearly…..with his office….and the loss of it.

  27. veritas says:

Hi Tom: I’ve just realized that we also have the “Scooter and Shooter Show” – and not just some routine dog ‘n pony show. Actually, comparing these scumbags to animals is degrading to the animals involved.

  28. Powkat says:

#11 Actually he learned it at his daddy’s knee – Bush I pardoned 5 Iran-Contra figures, including Weinberger, so no one would ever know what happened or how much Poppy knew. That’s one of the reasons Bush II extended the length of time documents can be kept classified – he was protectin’ his daddy.

  29. veritas says:

Just goes to show this airhead that he shouldn’t ever formulate a thought in that compromised brain of his….because it is sure to lead him astray. This time he should have consulted the legal authorities. He’s in a real fix here and the noose is tighening. Maybe it will be time for that much-needed vacation in August. Perhaps he will fail to return to office, just like Nixon.

  30. veritas says:

Powkat: Everyone knows that DaddyBush (41) is the “small man behind the curtain at Oz”. He has been destroying this country since 1963 in orchestrating JFK’s death as head of the CIA, was around town with his Carlyle buddies on 9/10 (strange coincidence, isn’t it?) and continues to orchestrate his nazi war machine today.

  31. veritas says:

By next week, Bush’s numbers will be so horrendous that they’ll be embarrassed to air them on the MSM.

  32. The Captain says:

The problem I have is when Bush pulls the troops back, the media is still going to constantly report the killings and the bombings in Iraq even if our troops aren’t there to hurt Bush.

    Comment by CT_V1 — July 10, 2007 @ 5:54 pm

I notice you claim that the President used his powers “properly” but then you call for a full pardon.

Either you think the President SHOULD have issued a full pardon for lying to the FBI and a Grand Jury and therefore didn’t use his powers quite “properly” or you are calling for a full pardon for lying to the FBI and Grand Jury that you believe is not legitimate.

    Which is it?

By the way, CT_V1, I support a full pardon at this point too. If Libby were pardoned, he could be called to testify on those matters without access to the Fifth Amendment protection. That hearing should be on Pay-per-View!

  38. shane says:

    Comment by Powkat

Anecdotally you can tell that it all started with Poppy’s daddy doing business with Adolph Hitler. On their first meeting grandpappy probably got a copy of Mein Kampf, first edition, and it’s the most treasured “family heirloom”. And the Bush Crime Family has been using it as an instruction manual ever since.

Substitute “troll” for “pig” — come to think of it, that’s redundant…

  41. david says:

Who cares? Well, who was whining for weeks that Fitzgerald had no case and that the jury would never convict; when they jury convicted they whined that the sentence was ourtrageously harsh, even though it fell within guidelines; and now that the sentence has been commuted, who’s whining about Libby’s need for a full pardon? Libby wasn’t pardoned specifically for the reason of keeping away from testimony. Dumbya will save that move for his last day in office. Fred Fielding is no dummy and he honed his skills during the Nixon mess. You can be sure he had his fingers in this deal.

And only 19% wanted him to get the commuted sentence or a pardon. That’s less that the 28% who think that Bush is a good president. Very interesting. There are a lot of Republicans who either think Bush did the wrong thing or don’t have an opinion on the matter.

And Ringo, we care. We don’t want to see our country and our constitution flushed down the toilet. That is what the Bush Crime Family is doing to our country. If it doesn’t bother you, I feel very sorry for you.

Apparently you didn’t read the article. I often wonder if you asshats actually have the ability to read. If you had read it, and you know how to add two numbers together, you will see that only 19% (that’s 13 + 6) think that Libby should have had clemency or a pardon.

    That’s less that the 28%ers.

Sorry, you lose and will continue to lose.

  51. Katie says:

    “PARDONS GRANTED BY PRESIDENT CLINTON

So……. Were any of those pardons someone who worked for Clinton who had knowledge that could put Clinton in jail or get him impeached?

  52. Egreggious says:

…you will see that only 19% (that’s 13 + 6) think that Libby should have had clemency or a pardon.

And don’t forget that some think pardoning Scooter would have been a good thing so that he could not claim Fifth Amendment privileges when testifying before Congress.

  53. spit take says:

Why does Flaccid always do that? Does he think it actually makes some point for him?

Does he think that we believe Clinton never pardoned anybody?

Does he ever say what’s wrong with any of the pardons in the lists he cuts-and-pastes?

Very odd behavior. All of the trolls lately, very odd behavior. Is there a full moon coming up or something?

  54. Briseadh na Faire says:

    Flaco,

Who on that list was pardoned while Ken Starr was still investigating Whitewater?

Who on that list was pardoned or had their sentence commuted by the President without having to spend a day in jail?

  57. The Captain says:

I was thrilled when Bush commuted the sentence of Libby. I really don’t believe there are only 13% of us who agree with that. These polls only actually poll 1000 people. That is hardly 300,000,000 as would be needed.

  63. Probus says:

Libby is a convicted felon who deserves to serve his punishment for 30 months. The commutation posed a conflict of interest for this president. He commuted Libby’s sentence to save himself and Cheney from possible prosecution. Libby was one of 7 people who outed a covert CIA agent to get back at her husband a vocal critic of the war who challenged the president’s false assertion that Saddam tried to buy yellow cake uranium from Niger. Wilson was right because 16 words were later remove from Bush’s State of Union address in the Congressional record. They were removed because Bush knew he was lying. Clinton never pardoned or commuted the sentence of anyone who could have incriminated him if they had gone to jail.
