U.S. lawmakers prevented from leaving Green Zone.
A six-member congressional delegation recently returned from a seven-day trip that included stops in Ireland, Germany, Pakistan, Kuwait and Iraq. While in Iraq, security conditions prevented them “from meeting any Iraqis, leaving the Green Zone or staying in Iraq overnight.” Additionally, the “congressional members were required to wear full body armor, including Kevlar helmets, during the entire trip.”

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann is apparently as dumb as a stick. Good work by the writer of the article, however, to point out that Al Qaeda in Iraq is only one of a number of Sunni insurgent organizations, in spite of her Republican spin trying to identify the entire insurgency as “Al Qaeda”.

Iraq is a lost country. Daily life for Iraqi civilians must be hell. The extended tours of your men and women in uniform must equal this hell. I sincerely wish I will see a day, when a judge in The Hague will hand down severe prison sentences to Mr Bush, Mr Rumsfeld, Mr Powell, Ms Rice, Mr Cheney, et.al. And nobody there to commute their sentences or pardon them.

Iraq is a failed state. This administration worked hard to ensure that the satate would fail, and would stay failed. A successful state would hinder their aims too much.
The sociopaths that have hijacked our country care nothing for anything except themselves. The pain and misery of a few million brown people halfway around the world is simply beneath their notice.
Again, beneath the notice of the Powers That Be. Not only do they not care about suffering foreigners, but they have equal disdain for suffering Americans. It seems that they are intentionally trying to break the Armed Forces in this country, which makes me very nervous when I reflect upon the fact that Blackwater, a mercenary organization that is better equipped than our own Armed Forces, and is loyal only to the people that sign their checks, are waiting in the wings.
I too hope to live to see that day. But unfortunately, since our Democratically controlled Congress is too spineless or collusive to even consider Articles of Impeachment, it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Boy, you got that right! She doesn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground. As a Minnesotan, I am very disappointed that they didn’t let her out of the Green Zone. There is no way that she could have found her way back on her own and we would have been rid of her once and for all.
She was on a local talk radio program yesterday sharing all the “knowledge” (ahem) she had gained on her trip. What a friggin’ bimbo.

Barrage of Mortars Strike Green Zone Tuesday

A number of mortar rounds struck the Green Zone on Tuesday, with estimates ranging from 10 to more than thirty. Eyewitnesses reported smoke rising near the US embassy compound. A US spokesman initially reported no fatalities, but police sources are now saying three were killed and 25 wounded.
The BBC has the lowest count at 10 mortars, Reuters cites a US spokesman who said there had been around a dozen explosions, AP reports the sound of at least 23 mortars was heard in central Baghdad, and VOI’s piece indicates there may have been two separate barrages spaced about a half-hour apart that totaled more than thirty.
