Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) first got his start in Congress after replacing former Rep. Bob Livingston (R-LA), who “abruptly resigned after disclosures of numerous affairs” in 1998. At the time, Vitter argued that an extramarital affair was grounds for resignation:
“I think Livingston’s stepping down makes a very powerful argument that Clinton should resign as well and move beyond this mess,” he said. [Atlanta Journal and Constitution, 12/20/98]

July 10th, 2007 at 10:41 amHoly cow, at least he manned up to it decently enough
"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in a statement.
"Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there --with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way," he wrote.

#9 Hey DRxJ,
Actually, you are not correct there. Clinton was found in contempt of court in 1999 by U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright for giving intentionally false testimony in the Paula Jones civil suit over which she was presiding.
"Simply put, the president's deposition testimony regarding whether he had ever been alone with Ms. (Monica) Lewinsky was intentionally false and his statements regarding whether he had ever engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky likewise were intentionally false," the judge wrote of Clinton's January 17, 1998 deposition.
Moreover, on Jan. 20, 2001 Clinton copped to a plea by which he that he knowingly gave misleading testimony about his affair with Monica Lewinsky in a 1998 lawsuit. Under an agreement with Independent Counsel Robert Ray, Clinton's law license was suspended for five years and he paid a $25,000 fine to Arkansas bar officials. He also gave up any claim to repayment of his legal fees in the matter.
Moreover, in September 2001, the U.S. Supreme Court suspended Clinton from the Supreme Court bar in connection with his plea with the independent counsel.

July 10th, 2007 at 10:52 amExley, I will now disagree with you. I will try to paste this and hope the TP filter let's it thru:
(Bold type is mine)
Clinton also said, "there is not a sexual relationship, an improper sexual relationship or any other kind of improper relationship"[6] which he defended as truthful on 17 August 1998 hearing, famously arguing "it depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is"[7] (i.e., he was not, at the time he made that statement, still having a sexual relationship with Lewinsky). Under pressure from Starr, who as Clinton learned had obtained from Lewinsky a blue dress with Clinton's semen stain, as well as testimony from Lewinsky that the president had inserted a cigar-tube into her vagina, Clinton admitted that he misled the American people and that he had had an "inappropriate intimate contact" with Lewinsky. Clinton denied having committed perjury because, in the court's definition , oral sex was not "sex" per se.

Sexual misconduct, while sordid and vulgar, should not be grounds for resignation or forced removal from office. Let's allow the voters to make those decisions at the ballot box, and reserve forced removal for graver sins -- such as lying to get us into unnecessary wars, violating the civil rights of Americans, and election fraud.

So why are you condoning TPs use of Vitter's private life to go after him? care to explain stupid Libtard? hypocrite!
July 10th, 2007 at 10:56 amYou know, there was a time when there was bipartisan agreement on hanky-panky and personal indiscretions. Both parties agreed: Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
Then the Christian Right came rolling into town and decided to clear out those Godless liberals. Only they had a tough time avoiding temptation themselves and had to coverup all their pecadilloes.
This turned them into to lying, cheating, conniving hypocrites. And Christian Republicans believe, once they have been damned, they might as well go the whole hog. So they stole, killed, bore false witness, and coveted everything that wasn't nailed down.
And that's why this is a juicy scandal. Liberals would have said "Live and let live", but the Christian Right has been so bloodthirsty and screaming "Die, Liberal, die!" that they won't let them get off this easy. Either the Republicans judge themselves as they have judged or they should pack up their sex toys and go home.

“I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary,†she told a reporter regarding whether she could forgive her husband if she learned he’d cheated as Hillary Clinton had done after Monica Lewinsky became a household name. “I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony, trust me.â€

This makes it especially heinous and demented - to claim to be "walking their own talk" and then we discover that they're just using "the talk" to hide behind. I agree, sort of. I also don't think it should be grouns for forced removal, but it should be grounds or resignation. I think it's a matter of deceiving the voters who previously showed up at the ballot box.
I have to believe that he ran ads when he was running (I could be wrong) that likely showed him with his wife (and kids), you know, a strong family man. There probably weren't any ads showing him in the arms of a hooker (again, I could be wrong).
This guy Vitter let down the coonstituents who put him in office in the first place. He ran on a 'traditional' ticket and argued for the sanctity of marriage. He had a serious lack of judgment. How can the people of La. depend on him not to make other poor decisions with something that might not be so 'personal' next time?
July 10th, 2007 at 11:02 amHow many lies has Bush committed and has never taken one iota of responsibility for?? Of course, admission is part/parcel of the "saying sorry" process. Of course, we all know that "saying sorry" doesn't cut the mustard after the fact. The amoral/criminal behavior exits and will be prosecuted in a court of law....with Vitter becoming state's witness against Palfrey now since he's clearly admitted that it was a wee bit more than a therapeutic massage. In his book, I can only imagine what a "sin" would mean??
July 10th, 2007 at 11:02 am#40,
DRxJ,
With all due respect, the court, to whom Clinton referred in trying to claim that he did not give false testimony, disagreed with Clinton and held him in contempt of court for intentionally giving misleading testimony. The "court" was Judge Susan Webber Wright...She was the one presiding over the Paula Jones cases. She was the one who defined "sexual relations," as that term was to be used in the case. And she was the one who determined that Clinton misled the court by denying he had sexual relations, as that term was defined by the court, with Lewinsky.
In short, DRxJ, you are accurately recounting Clinton's claimed defense to the charge that he lied to the court. But, what you are leaving out is that the court categorically rejected Clinton's defense and found him in contempt of court.

But, lo, we must face the reality that we have a moron guiding us who never understood the meaning of fiscal balance.....never had a clue about the necessary moral values which a leader should embody.....doesn't realize that the people are keeping track of each and every one of his lies.....it must be awful attempting to defend a charlatan...unless, of course, YOU are a charlatan yourself.
Your posts would certainly indicate that this is so. Not only are you a charlatan but you are a highly uneducated one to boot (EMH, by any chance?). Your facts are meaningless, your commentary is inane to downright moronic, and your presence here is unwelcome. Do us all a favor and go cry in some dark isolated corner, Conservatron because that is certainly where you belong.

July 10th, 2007 at 11:13 amConservatron's new moniker: Conservaturd!
July 10th, 2007 at 11:14 amThis is to all the ... 'conservative debaters' trying to hijack this thread with screams about Clinton and hypocracy.
The issue here isn't about the rightness and wrongness of sex, I suspect, but about the hypocracy of demanding everyone else around you be saintly and faithful (if married) or celebate (if not) while fscking a whore on the side. Yes, Clinton...err, got his tool polished by Lewinski. However, he never got all high and sanctimonious about other people's sex lives. Therefor, I am able to say, "OK, that was between him, Lewinski, and Mrs. Clinton." Here is the funny thing.
Vitter has always been a sanctimonious jerkoff who was so interested in sticking his nose into Clinton's private business. I'd think he was a misguided jerk if he walked the walk while talking the talk, but he couldn't walk the walk! And now, he's going to try to brush it under the rug by saying "Oh, I did a bad thing." He argued that Clinton should have resigned for being caught sticking his piece in Lewinski's mouth. Why isn't Vitter resigning? What, it's perfectly fine and dandy for a Republican Christian to be getting 'erotic massages' from a prostitute, but if a Democrat gets his knob waxed by an intern, that democrat should be run out of town on a rail? Pardon my French, but bull$#!+.
If a moderate Republican's name turns up on the list, and that moderate Republican has never clucked on about the sanctity of marriage, I'll give him the same pass I gave Clinton. As long as (s)he wasn't having sex with young girls or young boys, the sex is not an illegal act. But when a sanctimonious @$$hole tells me that I must have sex with my wife only to procreate, not having fun while doing it, and I must do so in the missionary position, and even if both I and my wife decide we want to invite a third woman (or man!) into our bed, we cannot, then I find out that this same sanctimonious @$$ is banging a prostitute, I get mad.
Focus on Your Own Damn Family, leave mine out of it. Thankyouverymuch.
July 10th, 2007 at 11:14 am** Clinton: consensual sex between two adults.

July 10th, 2007 at 11:14 amBut showing such a distinct lack of common sense means he should NOT be in public office where the opportunity to continue showing a lack of good judgment abounds.
Comment by SGT Higgins — July 10, 2007 @ 11:08 am
That was my argument for not voting for Clinton in 1994. I then, 4 years later, spent 3 months back packing through Europe, talking to the locals and realized that a man's propensity to cheat is more about his quantity of testosterone and the fact that natural urges are genetically male, than about his decision making abilities. Essentially, decisions about sex are NOT the same as making decisions about public policy. Clinton inevitably went on to prove this is true. Despite his weakness for women, he was a strong leader in public and world policy.
I agree with the hypocrisy rule of measure. It has nothing to do with sex, but everything to do with character.
And Vitter is a hypocrite.
July 10th, 2007 at 11:14 amFunny, I could have sworn the point of the post was Vitter's hypocrisy in calling for Clinton to resign for cheating on his wife, while failing to do so himself when he was outed.
Yet the troll tries to turn the question of hypocrisy back on liberals, who have never suggested that "affairs" (or hookers) justified resignation.
Better and smarter trolls, please!

Only a rightard-robot like conservatron would look at a story about a Republican who called for the resignation of a President over an extramarital affair (not a crime, BTW) and was later revealed to have patronized the services of a high-priced prostitution ring (which, in most states and territories IS a crime), and decide that it was an example of LIBERAL hypocrisy.

July 10th, 2007 at 11:18 amThis country is not finished with Mark Foley yet either. His day will come soon. That investigation was tabled due to more pressing matters like treasonous outing of a CIA covert operative. But Foley, Hastert and Bohner have a long history of knowledge of and/or engagement in inappropriate behavior with the minors involved in the Congressional Page program. Just because other stories may have sidelined this one, it's far from over. Foley, the whimp, hid out in alcohol rehab for a while but now he's fair game once again. A full investigation is coming and these three predators and predator-enablers will be brought to justice. It matters little if they are still in office when it comes to breaking laws.

We have to be honest about the male sex drive. The right usually has problems doing this, and wants to focus on condemning something that nature created, rather than the legality of his actions. And there is a difference between consensual sex and bought sex in the eyes of our legal system (which I think is silly actually).
Personally, a big part of the 'moral' problems we have as a culture come from unrealistic expectations and criticism of basic human nature. Cultures that respect a man's sex drive tend to not teach women to base their self on their mate or his habits, just in case they pick one who chooses to stray...
For me, it ultimately comes back to getting into a position of accepting reality, and the rest becomes obvious. It's just hard being realistic in a culture littered with fairy tale 'happily ever after' expectations, and a basic disdain for natural human behavior....

July 10th, 2007 at 11:44 am#121 DRxJ,
Judge Wright, in a 32-page decision, clearly stated that Clinton gave "intentionally false" testimony about his relationship with Lewinsky in the Paula Jones lawsuit. This historic finding marked the first time that a sitting president has been sanctioned for disobeying a court order.
From the judge's opinion: "Simply put, the President's deposition testimony regarding whether he has ever engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky was intentionally false and his statements regarding whether he had ever engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky likewise were intentionally false, notwithstanding tortured definitions and interpretations of the term 'sexual relations.' "
"Intentionally false" statements are lies.
As for Vitter resigning, I'd say we don't know enough yet to make that judgment. How often did he frequent the escort service? What did the "services" consist of? How old was the escort?

The male slowly got up and took off running after one of them.
the nature filmographer said he had never seen one runn for so long before.
It caught up to the hyena and smacked it so that it spun around in mid stride and the lion caught it's neck and killed it instantly.
It then, slowly walked back to where the other hyenas were standing and watching.
It dropped the dead hyena in front of them and went back up on the hill to lay down.
Killed it just to make a point. The other hyenas got it and left her alone.

Vitter set a standard by his words from 1998. He wont abide by his own rules. IMHO that's the topic. It could be about driving under the influence, shoplifting, running a red light, about anything. If Sen.Vitter sets a standard he has to reckon that his actions might be held against this, his own, standard, period.

It's why, prior to humans taking over the food chain, living things survived in balance for millions of years with one another... And why humans have been the cause of extinction for so many other species... Like a virus...

Well, the filmographer said he had never seen a display quite like it.
I he spent his life doing it.
He summerized it by saying that there was no doubt in his mind, and after watching it there is no doubt in mine, that this wasn't about territory.
The lion brought the carcass back to the other hyenas and dropped it in front of them. About a quarter of a mile. he didn't chase off the others. they were closer to the pride than the one he killed.
He specifically targeted the one that was messing with the female.
Lions will eat anthing. they eat us and we are the top of the preditory food chain to them. They will even eat their cubs. They don't waste food or the opportunity to feed when it arises.
That's why National Geographic thought it was interesting as well.
There was something else at work here. All i am saying is that some of the "evils" assigned to human nature may in fact be instinctual on some level.
Still doesn't explain why some people need to keep death at by with Skyman Mythology
July 10th, 2007 at 12:40 pmwhat you liar? Tom Delay had to resign based on the rules the Republican party had created!
stop lying my retard.
Comment by Conservatron — July 10, 2007 @ 11:44 am
As if it would do any good to point out a factual error to someoen like Conservatard:
Tom Delay was indicted in September 2005. In March 2006, he ran in the Republican primary to be re elected. He won and was officially the Republican nominee for his Conressional seat.
In June 2006 he resigned his seat and tried to withdraw from the race. Because of his craven lack of honor, Delay cost the Republicans that seat, as he could not be replaced on the ballot for the general election.
So please, Conservatard, point out when and where Congressional rules forced him to resign when he was indicted?
Thanks. Maybe you'd better leave the attmpted factual arguments alone and go back to calling names, since that's really what you do best.

"When a Republican is charged, according to Republican Conference Rules, he must resign his position. Delay did this."
Yes he did, OVER A YEAR LATER!! In 2005, a Texas grand jury indicted DeLay on criminal charges that he had conspired to violate campaign finance laws during that period. DeLay denied the charges, saying that they were politically motivated, but Republican Conference rules forced him to resign temporarily from his position as Majority Leader! (MAJORITY LEADER. Jefferson holds no such leadership position does he?) In January 2006, under pressure from fellow Republicans, DeLay announced that he would not seek to return to the position.
So he did not resign his Congressional spot, only his leadership position. Stop lying. I know you wont stop, but you should.

and let us not forget that the Democratic Congressmen who was caught having sex with a 17 year old page was put in charge of committees and elected to Congressman again.
You see, Republicans even sniff anything about corruption in their party, and that politician is gone. Delay and homo boy. Democratic politicians find corruption in their party, they hide it and they put the corrupted politician in positions of power.

Now it will be interesting to see how the rest of those who used God's name in vein. For those who have ever read the Bible David sinned with a woman who was married. Like most that human we ask for forgiveness while remembering not to judge others. Some Americans and all of the GOP attacked Clinton for his sinful act, while God looked on. So Vitter is now praying for forgiveness yet he wouldn't give it to a follow human. Let's face it Americans are only interested in dirt and gossip the more names the better. Even Newt did his thing while doing his thing with his girlfriend now he says God has forgiven him. I guess Newt has God's phone number like the Hammer. Well, that was a great argument! You've basically just destroyed your skills of debate with that paragraph.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:17 pmFact: It was LEGAL for 17 year olds to have consensual sex, even with there boss.
Fact: It was 1973
Fact: Today, it is not illegal to have sex with your boss, unless one is pressured
Fact: Most companies make it against their rules for employees to engage in sexual activity, but that does not make it illegal
Fact: Your pathetic attempt to derail this thread does not undermine the fact that what Vitter does was ILLEGAL

Then there was Mel Reynolds — ex-congressman and child molester extraordinaire. Likening a prospective threesome with an underage Catholic schoolgirl to hitting the Lotto, he now works for Jesse Jackson’s Operation PUSH advising kids. Why did Clinton pardon Reynolds? Because the Rev. Jesse asked him to.

Daryll, Daryll, Daryll, someone's been feeding you misinformation about liberal thought. (Could it have been... SATAN?)
The "values" you list are hardly "liberal beliefs". In fact, the first two are far more easily identified with conservatives these days than liberals, although to be fair, just about anyone in public life has to wrestle with those demons now and again. It just seems that theses days, conservatives seem to LOSE those struggles more than liberals.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "illegal immigration" as a "liberal belief" -- I'm pretty sure that you have a really narrow view of both that issue and of liberalism but somehow, magically, those views intersect there. Weird. Same with "unequal taxing, homosexuality, abortion and embryonic stem cell research".
I didn't ask for sound bites or talking points. I asked for honest liberal beliefs (not ISSUES but BELIEFS -- do you get the difference?) that are "filthy" and unChristian.
If I wanted to play that game with you I could ask you about conservative "beliefs" like wars against nations that did not attack us, condemnation rather than compassion for "the least of my brothers" (your own approach to "illegal immigration", that is) policies that increase the poverty rate, policies that increase the infant mortality rate, tax policies that ask the poor and middle class to pay MORE and allow the rich and corporations to pay LESS...
But thanks for helping me to see the light by making a strong, fact-based case crafted specifically to convince me of the error of my ways. It would have been a failure of your Christian duty if you had just spewed out the quickest, most shallow lsit of "filgthy liberal beliefs" that you could think of.

July 10th, 2007 at 1:38 pm"You can’t defend Vitter and attack Clinton, and you can’t defend Clinton and attack Vitter."
Actually, you can, of course, since we are attacking and defending on entirely different issues, a fact that seems to have escaped your notice. There are two issues: infidelity and hypocrisy. Few of us give a damn about Vitter's infidelity, any more than we cared about Clinton's infidelity. Those are matters between them and their families. The stench of hypocrisy, on the other hand, is simply too strong to miss.
Vitter was attacking Clinton for precisely the same sin that he himself was guilty of, and on multiple occasions over many years at that. His hypocrisy doesn't stop there, of course, since he has weighed in on a number of other social issues, most notably same-sex marriage, with an evangelical, take-no-prisoners attitude and fervor, including declaring that he did not believe "there's any issue that's more important than [same-sex marriage]" during last year's debate on the failed Constitutional amendment. Throughout his career, he has constantly tried to use the law to impose his view of morality on the American public.
What we are doing is exposing, and laughing about, Vitter's blatant hypocrisy and holding him to the same standard that he himself insisted Clinton live up to. Few, if any, here expect Vitter to resign or even care very much whether he does or not. We simply delight in, appropriately, using his own words and his own views against him.
When you're ready to discuss the real issue, Vitter's blatant hypocrisy, we'll be right here. If you want to keep muttering about evil liberals and Clinton, well, we'll have fun laughing at you, as well.

In reference to President Clinton's extra-marital affair - you thought he should resign and move beyond this mess - well Senator - now that your own hypocrisy has been made public, when will you heed your own advice and resign to put that whole mess past you, , your family, your state?
Let me answer my own question, never.
You and the rest of your party preach high morals to all of us but you never follow your own words nor adhere to the convictions you preach – they are strictly meant for the ‘other guy’. Haven’t you ever heard ‘practice what you preach’?
You Republicans talk a good game on morals and values but time and time again – you fail to deliver. America is a great country and we deserve better than to be represented by you and your party.

Actually the difference is that soliciting a prostitute is illegal. Consensual sex on the other hand is quite legal.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:56 pmFunny how our dear little conservatard leaves out of his history that silly little inconvenient fact that the Republican Caucus changed the rules specifically to protect Tom DeLay and only changed them back when public outcry grew too loud to ignore.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:57 pmspit sh*t why is prostitution illegal/wrong?
Comment by Flaco — July 10, 2007 @ 1:53 pm
I don't know, Flaccid, I didn't write the law. Why does it matter? Do you get to ignore laws that you think are wrong? Oh wait -- bad question -- you're a right-winger, so yes, you believe that you can, as long as you're a Republican.
Is it illegal? That is what matters.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:57 pm"Actually the difference is that soliciting a prostitute is illegal."
Not quite. The real difference is that Clinton wasn't a blatant hypocrite, which is why we're attacking Vitter not for his infidelity, which we couldn't care less about, but for that stunning hypocrisy.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:58 pmthank you, PaulB
July 10th, 2007 at 1:59 pmHere's an article from 2004:
House Republicans proposed changing their rules last night to allow members indicted by state grand juries to remain in a leadership post, a move that would benefit Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) in case he is charged by a Texas grand jury that has indicted three of his political associates, according to GOP leaders.
“and liberals have always said, “But, But, But….Clinton’s sexual life is private, a politicians sexual life is private. No one should use Clinton’s private life to attack him.â€â€
Actually the difference is that soliciting a prostitute is illegal. Consensual sex on the other hand is quite legal.
Comment by ann — July 10, 2007 @ 1:56 pm
Actually, Ann the REAL difference is that Clinton never tried to make political hay out of another's sex life.
The issue is the hypocrisy of calling for resignation in the wake of a consensual extramarital affair, and then turning around and using the services of a prostitute.
No one is attacking Sen. Vitter's sex life. I don't care if he frequents prostitutes. But I do care if he frequents prostitutes and then presents himself as a paragon of virtue and tries to hold others to higher standards than he holds himself.

Dear heart, most of us have learned to avoid silly "when did you stop beating your wife" questions years ago. If you want to keep playing silly little games, we'll keep laughing at you. If you want to have a discussion about hypocrisy, we'll be right here.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:03 pmFlaccid, why do I have to know the reason prostitution is illegal? I have theories, but I wasn't part of drafting any law against prostitution.
As long as I know what the law is, then I'm able to follow it.
Can you explain why your question matters?
Or is your goal just to obfuscate and distract?
July 10th, 2007 at 2:03 pm"Get out of DC you damn hypocrite!"

I will now simple it down for you.
After having his number listed on a Madam's site, who is accused of running a prostitution ring, Senator Vitter admitted that he had severly sinned in his past.
I stated that what he implied, that he paid for sex from a prostitute, is illegal.
I never said he was found guilty of a crime
But you do get bonus points for distorting my posts to derail a quite factual thread that discusses the hypocrisy of Vitter's family values.
"no matter what you admit to, you moron, you pathetic fool, in the USA, our laws say that you must be found guilty of a crime in a court of law!!!!"
Dear heart, only if we are going to officially punish him for his crime. Since nobody is suggesting this, I'm afraid that, as usual, you simply do not have a point. Vitter has admitted his actions and he can be held accountable in the court of public opinion, which this is.

Are you afraid to give up your sinful liberal ways?
July 10th, 2007 at 2:24 pmI see the cleanout by Think Progress only worked for a short while. And the various trolls still haven't answered my post at 11:14am. And yes, veritas, I'm thinking these trolls are in _love_ with Clinton.
Trolls, we got you figured out. Back in the 90s, you could hang any and all problems with the nation around Clinton's neck, regardless of whether or not he had anything to do with them. But you felt so angry that your voices were the only ones raised in righteous indignation against the Clenis Incident. "How could the sheeple not see how bad Slick Willy is for our government! Damn Liberal Media!" The frustrations over the eventual liberal conclusion to the Vietnam conflict, the disgrace of Nixon, the beating of Ford by Carter, and the beating of Bush 41 by Clinton just welled up. Your little minds saw the USA as a Conservative country, but the reality was much more liberal, or should I say moderate.
Then God gave you a chance from on High. Gore was a weak candidate in 2000, and Kerry was in 2004, so Bush 43 got his time in the sun. Instead of old-fashioned Conservative principles of small, efficient Government, the military principle of 'Don't Tread on Us', and fiscal responsibility, Bush created a monster beaurocracy in the form of DHS, instituted a policy of Strike First and then implimented it on Iraq, and began to spend like a 'Librul', pushing our deficit through the roof.
Now, your moderate fiscal Conservatives are abandoning you and going Independent. The independents (Hi. How you doin'. *waves*) are abandoning your party by the droves. And the Democrats are picking up more young voters that you're driving off with your pandering to the top of the economic food chain. You hope your policy of screaming and ranting at Democrats nets you some payoff, because if this trend continues, it'll be 40% Democrat, 50% Independent (who will vote Democrat for President mostly), and a measly 10% republican. This could last for decades.
Keep pulling for Dubya, though, and rally behind your guy like you accuse us of rallying behind our guy. It'll do lots of good things. ;)
July 10th, 2007 at 2:24 pm"is this the best you got?"

PaulB,
Thank you! Couldn't agree more.
Conservaturd,
It's not about "embracing" William Jefferson, Clinton, the democratic party, liberals or whatever. It's about rejecting hypocrisy, whether it's of the democratic or republican persuasion. it's about Vitturd ignoring the politically *RELEVANT* issues way back when and instead focusing on clinton's and livingston's extramarital affairs. that was his choice and now he's paying the price. he deserves whatever comes his way, including what his wife promised.
Now can you please just go away? You're not contributing anything new.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:33 pmI don't understand why Vitter took complete responsibility for his actions. It seems to me he could have blamed them on the homosexuals destroying the sanctity of marriage.

Moreover, what do you know of DRxJ? What do you know of how he lives his life, treats others, treats the world?
What right do you have to ask him if he is "afraid to give up his sinful liberal ways"? Isn't that kind of arrogant and prejudicial?

I know, I know, you are amused and you are having fun, etc, etc.
man you are a mental midget. Keep on amusing yourself child.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:35 pmOf course not, PaulB. It's easier to scream "CLINTON DID IT! July 10th, 2007 at 2:39 pmConservaturd,
It’s not about “embracing†William Jefferson, Clinton, the democratic party, liberals or whatever. It’s about rejecting hypocrisy, whether it’s of the democratic or republican persuasion. it’s about Vitturd ignoring the politically *RELEVANT* issues way back when and instead focusing on clinton’s and livingston’s extramarital affairs. that was his choice and now he’s paying the price. he deserves whatever comes his way, including what his wife promised.
Now can you please just go away? You’re not contributing anything new.
Comment by LividLib — July 10, 2007 @ 2:33 pm
if it is about hypocrisy, why are Libtards not outraged that Harry Reid has his son lobbying for his causes?
why aren't Libtards going after left wing websites that want Vitter to resign based on his number being on this madam's list?
You pigs claim that Clinton's extra marital affairs are a private matter, are Vitter's not private too? or does this private issue only apply to your Democratic gods?
And Clinton was and is a hypocrite. he went to a Baptist Church every sunday while he was President. Do tell what Baptist Church condones his cheating.
You cannot claim to be religious, like Clinton did by going to a Church every sunday and then do things that are not religious.
get it you dumb, stupid Libtards? probably not, your brain doesn't have the power to understand reality and truth.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:39 pmMore stupidity from a mental midget.

Does anyone else think this kind of typing makes conservaturd sound really intelligent?
I've generally found it to be the case that when someone accuses another of being "a mental midget" or "gay" or "a hypocrite" it's usually beause they, consciously or subconsciously, recognize those qualities in themselves and fear them, and so project them onto others to feel better about themselves.
Psychologists call this "pathetic".

once again, stupid Libtard, READ, READ, READ the thread!!!
As I said long time ago on this thread, Vitter can't call on Clinton to resign and not resign himself. duh, duh, duh....
obviously readhing comprehension is not your forte!
Vitter's hypocrisy comes through and through, just like Newt Gringich who was cheating on his wife while going after Clinton for doing the same thing.
What the problem is here is that the Liberal hypocrisy escapes mental midgets like you.
you dumb fck.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:43 pmOkay, I will now dumb it down for even Conservaboob to understand:
July 10th, 2007 at 2:45 pmWas Vitter being hypocritical regarding Clinton and Livingston while he ways paying for sex with a prostitute?
Was he being hypocritical about his "value of marriages" while he secretly was dipping the purple headed yogurt hurler in someone else besides his wife?

I guess conservatard put us in our place, huh?
There's nothing like a well-placed strream of invective to really drive your point home. that is, if the point you're trying to make is that you're an unsophisticated, uneducated water boy who thinks that if you the most insults the loudest, you win.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:47 pm"if it is about hypocrisy, why are Libtards not outraged that Harry Reid has his son lobbying for his causes?"
ROFLMAO... Still another attempt to change the subject. This is absolutely wonderful. Free clue, dear: having your son "lobby for your causes" is not, in and of itself, hypocrisy. You still don't know the meaning of the word, do you, dear? And you still cannot bring yourself to deal with Vitter's hypocrisy, can you, dear?
"why aren’t Libtards going after left wing websites that want Vitter to resign based on his number being on this madam’s list?"
Because those websites, like this one, are focusing, quite appropriately, on the blatant hypocrisy and are holding Vitter to his own standards.
"You pigs claim that Clinton’s extra marital affairs are a private matter, are Vitter’s not private too?"
Yes, dear, they are, until the blatant hypocrisy renders that argument moot.
"or does this private issue only apply to your Democratic gods?"
Still cannot bring yourself to discuss the hypocrisy, can you, dear? Dozens of posts and not one word on it? Or have I missed it, dear?
"And Clinton was and is a hypocrite."
So you claim, dear. We're still waiting for a single example.
"he went to a Baptist Church every sunday while he was President."
Yes, dear, he did. What does that have to do with "hypocrisy?" Millions of sinners in the U.S. go to church every Sunday, dear.
"Do tell what Baptist Church condones his cheating."
What does that have to do with hypocrisy, dear?
"You cannot claim to be religious, like Clinton did by going to a Church every sunday and then do things that are not religious."
Yes, dear, you can, as Vitter himself has demonstrated. Paraphrasing a columnist I read a long time ago: Church is not a home for saints; it's a hospital for sinners.
"get it you dumb, stupid Libtards?"
LOL... No, dear, but that's because you still cannot deal with, and probably don't understand, the hypocrisy.

July 10th, 2007 at 2:48 pmI'm sorry, Conservatron, but I'm not going to parse through 390+ posts, many of which contain your drivel, to find your handful of posts that say you want Vitter to resign.
After all, you're so stupid you'd assign a label to someone you've never met. You are partially right, though, with that liberal label. One of the political ideologies I respect is _Libertarianism_. Small government that exists to ensure a fair playing field where each person can excel according to his abilities is attractive to me. Granted, I'd like to see the same Millian concept of 'My liberty ends where yours begins' applied in business, to keep megacorps like Walmart from squashing competitors, but that's just me. But you think that being a rightwinger means running the national deficit up with wars of choice and corporate handouts. No wonder you don't recognize a true fiscal conservative when you see one. ;)

'nuff said.

Anyways, have fun ya'll. I'm off to meeting
Conservatron sez:
Are you really this stupid? Does the point still elude you?
OK...I'll draw you a map.
The outrage expressed by the non-roll contingent here on this issue isn't in regards to Vitter's infidelity. We really don't give a sh!t about who he's playing footsie with on his off hours. That's a personal matter between him and his wife.
If Vitter paid for said footsie, it may be a legal matter, but again, that's not something we're terribly concerned with here.
What we are concerned with is Vitter's hypocrisy on this issue. It is Vitter's position that someone caught in extramarital footsies, professionally rendered or no, resign their position. Now that his feet have been caught under the table, we're only asking that he apply his admirable standards to himself.
Clinton didn't advocate that anyone caught having extramarital relations should resign. Vitter did.
Do. You. Understand. Now?

Dear heart, whose posts have begun to “emulate†whose? LOL… Still waiting for you to address the topic of Vitter’s hypocrisy, dear. Were you planning to do that one day?
“Thank you Pauly, thank you.â€

so you don't want to take my advice PaulB.....I am sorry for you PaulB, you most have been the kid in school that was always asked for more after being bruised time an dtime again.
if you think that my posts emulate yours, you are dumber than what I thought. I had high hopes for you, but obviously, you disappoint.
I always give you Libtards a change, but you always disappoint and show your true retarded colors.
I just have to laugh at the fact that yout hink you are smart and that you think you are getting under my skin.
You are funny guy, you are. I know, you stupid enough to take this as a complement. By all means, if it helps you sleep at night, son.

THANK YOU! Someone gets it.
Again, these tools here have hated Clinton every step of the way. He disrupted Bush 41's era. He indirectly disrupted Reagan's era. He was _liked_ and they can't stand that. That is why they keep bringing him up over and over and over and over and OVER again.
They hate his guts. If he hadn't done so well from 92 to 00, they would have been able to have Mondale run in 96 and win on the heels of Bush 41. Bush 43 would have ran in 2004, then again in 2008, and won. And in 2012, another Republican could have taken over. I mean, think of it! 1980 through beyond 2012! But that darned Clinton got in the way and ruined a DYNASTY!!!
Ahem. BTW, that last paragraph was the view from Troll-Land. :) They hate him because he was so good...that's all there is to it.
July 10th, 2007 at 3:13 pm"hmmmm….Libtard, they were shown and pointed out."
No, dear, they weren't, which is why you have not been able to deal with my response. Infidelity is, of course, not the same thing as hypocrisy.
"That you are too stupid to recognize Clinton’s hypocrisy is something else."
ROFL... Whatever you say, dear. I'm sure that it hasn't escaped anyone's notice here that I've addressed your points and you have utterly failed to address mine.
"I am sorry that you, Clinton’s feces, defends this poor excuse of a human being so hard."
Dear heart, you made the claims; if you can't back them up, that's not my fault.
"here, to repeat one, Clinton claim that he had family values"
Really, dear? Did he campaign on it? Lobby for and attempt to pass laws "defending" them? Excoriate others for failing to have those values? Insist that someone else resign for private transgressions that he himself was guilty of? Vitter has done all of these things.
"yet he went off and cheated."
Yes, dear, he did. Did you have a point to make?
"He had his administration come up witha whole campaign on family values to counter the Republican claim that it was Republicans only who had family values."
Really, dear? When was this?
"hmmmmm….I guess you are too stupid to see that claiming you have family values and then cheating on your wife is complete and utter hypocrisy."
ROFL... Dear heart, all I've done is point out to you the simple and quite obvious fact that you had yet to provide a single example of Clinton's hypocrisy. Now you've made further assertions but you still haven't supported them. Were you planning to do anytime soon?
"you stupid, stupid Libtard. yes and I said so. :) you poor Clinton’s Feces."
ROFL... No comment necessary.
July 10th, 2007 at 3:14 pmShow me where all these liberals have demanded his resignation. You have, but I don't see many liberals doing so -- all we're doing is pointing out his hypocrisy.
Are you always this stupid, or does it just happen when you log onto the Internet?
July 10th, 2007 at 3:15 pm"BWAHAHAHAHA!!! my poor Clinton’s Feces, you are so poorly educated that you didn’t understand Harry Reid’s reference."
ROFL... Dear heart, I know precisely what you were trying to do. Alas, you failed, just as you have failed in your other posts.
"honestly my friend, take my advice….go get an education before you keep on posting here and you keep on making a complete retard out of yourself."
ROFL... I'll be sure to take that advice as seriously as I do your other posts, dear heart.
"It is obvious that a good education has eluded you."
Whatever you say, dear.
"C’mon son, take my advice, I am saying it in kindness Paulb, please for your own good, for your own sake, for your ego not to be destroyed, so you don’t keep making a retard out of yourself, son, please get an education."
Dear heart, your concern for me is ever so touching. I'm simply awash with emotion.
"Take my advice once again, and educate yourself before you keep on posting, ok PaulB?"
ROFL... Oh, the irony...
"Just a friendly advice from someone that cares about his human fellow beings."

you have truly brought down the IQ level of this thread, not that it was too high given that it is a LIbtard blog, but geez guy, you brought it to new lows.
I am embarrased for you.
July 10th, 2007 at 3:17 pmIs it really true?
Is Flaccid so completely bankrupt of even his weird and illogical arguments that he's now reduced to posting Jay Leno's Clinton jokes?
Wow. That's really bad, even for a troll as lame as Flaccid.

Should Vitter resign on his hypocrisy? yes or no will suffice, Clinton's Feces.

Yup. He's desperately trying to find examples of liberal hypocrisy so that he can, finally, deal with Vitter's hypocrisy. So far, he's striking out, but that doesn't stop him from continuing to try.
Were he able to find liberal bloggers, pundits, and politicians calling on Vitter to resign solely because of his infidelity he would, of course, finally have a point and would legitimately be able to label at least some of those people hypocrities. Thus far, he's failed, which is driving him nuts and why he's been playing the silly little games that he's been playing.

Your problem child is that you think that Liberals and Democrats are free from hypocrisy, this is your undoing, Clinton's Feces.

No. I never asked him to, nor did anyone else ask him to resign "on his hypocrisy." They just asked him to follow his own standard.

July 10th, 2007 at 3:41 pmIf Vitter were to resign, it would mitigate his hypocrisy somewhat.
One of the definitions of hypocrisy is "insincerity", which I am sure have been guilty of myself, from time to time. It is not the hypocrisy per se that I object to, but the magnitude of it. I do object to someone trying to legislate their definition of sin (with the effect of bringing harm to others), with the justification of protecting the sanctity of marriage, while violating their own marrige vows. I object to someone demanding the resignation of another for a misdeed they themseves will not resign for.

July 10th, 2007 at 3:45 pm"Of course, if we stop posting here, Conservatron wins."
Nope. That's playing by his kindergarten rules. Out here in the real world, those rules don't apply. The dear chap has already lost, regardless of how many other posts make it on to this thread or who gets the last one. He was not able to steer the thread away from the issue of hypocrisy, has failed, time and time again, to deal with this issue, has clearly showed that he doesn't even understand the word, and has had to resort to childish games that we gave up years, if not decades ago, because he has no case. Whatever else happens, our dear chum has lost. That doesn't mean I can't have a little more fun, though.
"But we don’t want to keep humoring him, right, PaulB?"
This thread was over some time ago, so it doesn't matter one way or another. Eventually, I'll move on, since I'm only an occasional poster here. But as long as I'm having fun, I'll stick around a bit longer.
"I mean, if we keep feeding him, he’ll never go away."

July 10th, 2007 at 3:46 pm"PaulB, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate the manner with which you deal with these trolls."
Thanks, but I really shouldn't playing these games normally, since they can detract from serious discussions. On this thread, though, it was pretty clear that there was no serious discussion to be had. How could there be, with such an open-and-shut case? That's why our dear trolls have been so desperate to find an example, any example, of liberal hypocrisy.

Well, yes and no. I'm not really being dignified; I'm being deliberately condescending which, of course, drives them nuts, since the one thing they can't handle is being laughed at. That doesn't mean I cannot make good points, of course, so I end up winning on both counts.

Nope. That’s playing by his kindergarten rules. Out here in the real world, those rules don’t apply. The dear chap has already lost, regardless of how many other posts make it on to this thread or who gets the last one. He was not able to steer the thread away from the issue of hypocrisy, has failed, time and time again, to deal with this issue, has clearly showed that he doesn’t even understand the word, and has had to resort to childish games that we gave up years, if not decades ago, because he has no case. Whatever else happens, our dear chum has lost. That doesn’t mean I can’t have a little more fun, though.
“But we don’t want to keep humoring him, right, PaulB?â€
This thread was over some time ago, so it doesn’t matter one way or another. Eventually, I’ll move on, since I’m only an occasional poster here. But as long as I’m having fun, I’ll stick around a bit longer.
“I mean, if we keep feeding him, he’ll never go away.â€
Yup, which is why I only play games like this on threads where it was pretty clear that nothing but trolling was going to take place.

You do think you are something eh? winning, losing, what? poor you.
Son, I showed you where Clinton and the Democrats were and are huge hypocrites, but poor you....you were unable to recognize them since you are not educated enough.
you ask for proof, yet you provide none. You want people to take you at your word, yet you demand back up from those that you disagree with. Typical Libtard hypocrisy.
Son, trust me, don't tell anyone, but you haven't won anything.
You are right, you haven't been able to take this thread away from Clinton's and the Democratic hypocrisy.
July 10th, 2007 at 3:50 pmEgreggious: Yeah. Resign or apologize, publicly, for his witchhunt of Clinton. Enough of this having it both ways.
Hey, Vitter. As a former Louisiana resident, I have a suggestion for you. Go to the governer's mansion in Baton Rouge, pick up a mike, get WB
