Listening to all this heart wrenching and heated discussion of the issue of abortion, it is such a relief to be gay and male. It is beyond imagination to consider having sex with a woman. No way.

"It’s not until months or years later that the real trauma sets in."

Huh. I had an abortion when I was 18. I'm 43 now. Still no trauma.

And lest anyone judge me, we were using birth control. We did marry eventually, but he turned into a control freak who became abusive. I divorced him after four years of marriage. It would have been horrific if a child had been in the midst of all that.

Literature and counseling is provided at most abortion clinics. Before the abortion is performed, you are asked repeatedly "are you sure you want to proceed?" You are asked one final time before the procedure begins "are you sure you want to proceed?".

If a woman is going to have an abortion, she has a repsonsibility to gather as much information as possible, and information concerning the psycological effects of an abortion is readily available.

This mess is more propaganda by the right-to-life movement to frighten women and sway them from exercising their constitutional right to make a choice to have or not to have an abortion.

The trauma of an abortion for most women doesn't take months or years, for many women it happens before, during and immediately after the abortion. I should know, I had an abortion in 1999. I regret having the abortion, however I do not regret that a law exists allowing me the ability to make that choice and then if I choose to do so, I am able to have the procedure in a safe environment.

I do not and will not allow the government or any man or woman to interfere with my choice to have or not have an abortion, or any woman's choice to have or not have an abortion. I believe that I am responsible for my birth control, because this is my body and I am responsible for the choice I make.

Dude, honestly, I think more women should be aware of the psychological effects of an abortion, and if more sites made it known it would be awesome.

The problem is, most women are surveyed about their abortion immediately after. Of course they feel relief, their problem has been solved.

I went to Planned Parenthood all through high school and college. I got Pap tests, blood tests, urine analysis and yes: affordable birth control pills. I never got an abortion from Planned Parenthood.

"Planned Murderhood is big business."

Having babies is big business. Babies 'r Us. PPOs. Come on, there's way more money to be made in women giving birth than having abortions. Weak argument.

"Women can choose not to have intercourse. It’s as simple as that."

Men can choose to be honorable and not try to f*ck anything in a skirt when they aren't married to her. I'm so sick of hearing men blame women for getting pregnant when they can easily avoid the situation by never having sex unless it's with their wives whom they wish to have children with.

bitbit:

Abraham, Sarah and Hagar.
Jacob, Leah and Rachel.
The wives of King David.
The wives of King Solomon.

Point to a single monogamous couple in the Old Testament or the New that is held up as an exemplar.

Eric-fetuses wish nothing. Women, however, do. They wish you would keep your chauvenistic oppresive attitudes to yourself. Impose it on your own family, if you want, but don't dare force me to cowtow to your choices.

This absurdity is stated another way: You don't trust me with a choice, why would you trust me with a child?

Again, I state, every woman should have the choice regarding her own reproduction. Efforts to subject women to state-regulated reproduction will always be evil, and always lead to the unnecessary injury and death of women.

The right of a woman to choose whether to have a abortion is about exercising her choice. This is a privacy issue. Government and religion have no say in this matter. It is also a medical decision that must take place between the doctor and the patient. The government can't tell people what to do in their private lives. HHS is clearly stepping out of its boundaries by relating this false information.

The government can't tell American women how they should or should not feel morally. It is not for them to say. Also making such blanket statements about how women feel is wrong. Congress should investigate this to see if any laws were broken. If it finds that laws or agency regulations were violated then it should ask for a special prosecutor to be appointed to begin an investigation into the practices of HHS.

Come the next election, ABORT all the sanctimonious, holier-than-thou hypocritical Republicans. I know I'll feel "relief and happiness" after all these un-American religious thugs are flushed out of office.

Oh, by the way, the human, unborn fetus is the newest IDOL that conservative religious types have chosen to WORSHIP in place of God. And we all know not to get between a conservative religious thug and the IDOL they are worshipping at any given time...one could get killed. For example, how many clinic doctors and clinic workers have been murdered by conservative religious thugs? How many conservative religious thugs have sprinkled powder into envelopes while sitting at their kitchen table, and mailed these "terrorist" letters off to family planning centers? How many conservative religious thugs realize that everything they believe and practice contradicts completely the teachings of Jesus Christ...who was hardly a conservative religious thug????

The ultimate misogynist tool: abortion. Planned Abortionhood founded by a racist woman who wanted to keep "negro" babies from being born and then goes on to promote population control to all races. All the while, women are carefully led down a road of indoctrination with lies about "liberation" and "rights" by men who want to have more sex without consequence. The natural maternal instincts are desensitized and the violent act occurs physically on the baby and emotionally / psychologically on the mother - the mother giving no choice to the child and trying to talk herself into believing that it is her right only. After the fact, sometimes years later, the woman is haunted by her decision or continues to believe it was best and often needs therapy to overcome the guilt.
It's an endless cycle of violence that continues to go on. As liberals go nuts over 3600 Americans deaths in Iraq that were by their own free will, they adamantly defend the decision to stop the human hearts of 35 million unborn babies who had absolutely no choice.

Planned Parenthood assisted me, shortly after marriage, with birth control. They helped me find a helpful doctor for a reproductive system infection, and guided me in educating my (now) responsible, mature sons about human sexuality. They do wonders, despite the negative smears and fearful, fundamentalist oppression thrown at them.

For those who don't want an abortion, don't have one. But keep your religious views out of my medical consultation. You don't have the right to impose your warped theology on my body.
