Pentagon contracts put troops’ lives ‘at risk.’

A new Pentagon Inspector General report finds that “the Defense Department put U.S. troops in Iraq at risk by awarding contracts for badly needed armored vehicles to companies that failed to deliver them on schedule.”

Not sure why you felt the quotes were necessary, TP…

A Halliburton spokesperson was heard to say, “Who cares? We got ours. And Cheney’s Halliburton stock went up.”

Hmmm. They award contracts to incompetent firms. Coming from this administration, this is sort of a “water is wet” announcement, isn’t it?

  5. Kryptik says:

The only thing that bars you from success with this administration is competency.

There goes that Administration supporting the troops again.

They are also putting our troops lives at risk by refusing to buy the Dragon Skin body armor for our troops. It has been tested against the armor they issue our troops and every test shows that the Dragon Skin body armor is much more effective. So, why don’t they buy it for our troops? The first answer is money and the second is that this armor is not made by a “Republic Friendly” company. There was recently a big expose on this on MSNBC.

Those companies should have delivered the goods on time.. That being said, their lives are at risk because they’re in Iraq, regardless of how much armor they have.

Did you see the pics of John McCain in Iraq?

He was wearing Dragon Skin and was traveling in a Rhino. The Rhino is the nearly IED proof vehicle that the politicians and Black Water use.

Black Water also uses Dragon Skin body armor.

Yep, according to the righties, the government can’t be trusted with programs that help the poor and uninsured, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO WAR, THE GOVERNMENT CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL IT WANTS.

Notice how this thread doesn’t have abortion, gays or Clinton so this is a troll free thread for now.

That, and the fact that this is indefensible.

    Is anyone surprised?

On July 2nd, USA Today had a front-page article in which it was revealed that the Pentagon (first under Rumsfeld, then Gates) sat on an Urgent Request from February 2005 sent from our Marines over in Iraq, requesting Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles they could ride around in while on patrol.

Our “in harms way” Marines over in Iraq’s Anbar Province requested 1,169 of these MRAP vehicles 2 1/2 years ago, but apparently Rumsfeld did nothing to address this Urgent Request, thus contributing to the death and maiming of hundreds of our soldiers. Robert Gates, Rumsfeld’s replacement as Defense Secretary, announced within the past two weeks that he had placed an order for 17,770 of these MRAP vehicles for our troops…finally…after 2 1/2 years.

    Which makes me wonder.

Did the Pentagon, under both Rumsfeld and Gates, “sit on” any Urgent Requests from private security contractor personnel over in Iraq, or did they immediately respond…unlike the stunt just pulled with our own troops serving in Bush’s miserable war over there?

Indications are that when any of Bush’s and Cheney’s crony pals, who own Republican crony private companies, request anything the response is immediate, and Bush and Cheney get their crony “defense manufacturing” pals on it.

Essentially, the Bush/Cheney administration is treating our military, which used to be second to none, as being second to their higher-priority, higher-profitmaking Republican crony companies…and our troops “in harm’s way” are suffering the evil consequences of this reversal in priorities by the most corrupt administration in American history.

apparently, deadlines don’t mean anything to these people, so MAYBE some of that MONEY wouldn’t QUITE get to them on time. maybe it’s been lost or stolen or somethin’- i dunno.
