You’re going to hear ‘Clinton did it too’ on every issue that the Republicans look bad on, i.e., corruption, poor memory, abuse of liberties, and lying, just to name a drop in the ocean up until future elections (and after) for the reason that it’s part of the Republican strategy to create a public opinion of indifference to not voting for Democrats or for change.

We know that but let me explain, for those who have voted consistently Republican, the “Clinton did it too” argument is an attempt to make them continue to vote Republican, by making them think that Democrats are just as corrupt as the Republican corruption despite what they have just read or heard about.

Perception is everything.
Remember that the first four years of Bush G.W. regime reign, there were no investigations or oversight in Congress. Since the elections and the Democrates winning more seats, these investigations actually are taking place. Putting in place a checks-and-balance on these corrupt activities.

Comparing Clintons lying about having “sexual relations with that woman” with the current cover-up by the Republicans about influencing how the rule of law is executed by firing prosecutors who do not excuse Republican behavior, e.g. I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, is weak at best. Libby could have just been prosecuted by any attorney favored by Bush and not been objectively prosecuted. Luckly he was. Again Clinton’s lying was wrong, but is a one-time situation. Controlling how prosecutors do their job influences their behavior each day and harms the U.S. as long as those prosecutors work, for a 20 to 30 year career or longer. Although they are political appointees, there is supposed to be a trust that allows appointed attorneys to make decisions in criminal investigations without regard to politics.

Appointment to these positions should be based on merit, not political affiliation. It’s been said that these attorneys serve at the whim of the president and can be fired at any time. But remember that politicians, and the people they appoint, serve the will of the people. We must also keep in mind that this is the ethically right thing; to have politically neutral prosecutors in doing their jobs.

I wonder how far into the future the Repulsive Party hacks will continue to excuse THEIR behaviors on Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton had sex with a willing adult. Therefore, torturing prisoners, employing mercenaries, lying to the American public, invading an non-threatening country, allowing a known threat to attack the nation, destroying the fiscal integrity of the nation, tapping communications between citizens, opening private party mail, refusing to testify before Congress under oath, etc., etc, are all totally justified. We seem to have an Executive Branch without morals, scruples, responsibility, and now, without basic memory cells. Could someone please explain to me what became of the United States of America???

If the US attorneys were only fired for performance related reasons as Bush has claimed, then Taylor should have had no problem answering these questions. Her non responses show that she and Bush have something to hide. She hurt her own credibility by not answering so many questions.
