Chertoff can’t scare the American people based on how he feels. He must base it on credible intelligence that is specific to the threat. If he has seen intelligence to back up his claims he must reveal it (without giving out classified information).

Vitter has lost all credibility. His hypocrisy will be remembered by the voters of Louisiana and he will be voted out. The democrats have a very good chance of picking up his seat in 2010. While the statute of limitations has expired he clearly broke the law. He is accountable to the people of his state. He doesn’t deserve to serve in the US Senate. Congress should investigate if Vitter broke any other laws in connection with his crimes. He should resign his seat from the Senate like Livingston.

If Gonzales lied in front on Congress he committed the worst kind of perjury. Congress should call for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate his perjury. As the AG of the nation he must enforce the law and he can’t do that without the confidence of the American people if he broke it which in this case it looks like he did.

No wonder Leftists’ votes don’t count!

Well the name, “Homeland Security” always had a whiff of the dictatorial; is it really such a stretch to envision Nazi-style forced relocations? The only real difference between the two, is one made Jews the great evil, the other, Mexicans. The rhetoric used is much the same.

There will be security repercussions from Congress’ failure to pass immigration reform. Chertoff hoped granting a path to citizenship to illegal immigrants would cut away “the tall grass” hiding criminal elements among the undocumented workers.

But now, Chertoff said, his agency must uphold current laws and that means a further crackdown on workplaces.

“We are going to do more law enforcement actions,” he said.

Conceding the raids are “going to be ugly” and tear parents from their children who wonder why they have not returned from work, Chertoff warned: “the consequences are going to be tough from an economic and humanitarian standpoint.”

Here’s your Homeland Security guy…..securing the homeland will be tough from a humanitarian standpoint?

This is nothing but a feel-good move. If the Fish and Wildlife Service lists these birds it will still result in there being no “teeth” for their protection. Its political gamesmanship, a graduate level course, we’re dealing with here.
