Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is standing idle while Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) keeps an unanimously approved ethics bill in limbo. “Mitch McConnell is making a big mistake sitting on his hands,” said Craig Holman, legislative representative for Public Citizen. “Now he’s letting his own rank-and-file undermine his image of authority.”

Anyone who thinks purely Democrat or purely Republican is an unthinking moron. The power of politics is so sleazy that both sides will do anything within their power to control this country. It’s no surprise that there are paid hacks disrupting the flow of discourse on conservative and liberal blogs alike. These zealots will do whatever they’re handlers ask of them, just for the chance to lick the backs of their masters’ hands.

Meanwhile, you and I and the rest of America wish we actually had a represetative government instead of a bunch of powermongers paid by Exxon to wrest the control of government from the people.

That’s interesting. Many of us have thought KKK Rove was paying some of the trolls. Now we learn that Karen Huge (mistake deliberate) may be behind it, too, or solitarily.

De Mint’s whine about it being because of loneliness is hopelessly misleading. It’s about power, ambition and money – the most powerful sex attractants known to humankind – which exude from the street cracks and storm drains in this town, a town, after all, defined by Washington’s monument dominating the Reflecting Pool.

Those in power always think they’re different and that the rules don’t apply to them, as IF none of them had ever read Kipling’s poem and felt it ought to apply to them. Cheney and Bush are just extreme examples. The bigger problem is not sex in or out of wedlock, whether paid for in cash or by credit card, or by way of access to inherited wealth or to Ivy League or Junior League or family connections. It’s predation and hypocrisy. It’s the party of “family values” whose only real value is wanting the power to impose its will and hypocrisy on others.

Average Americans understand temptation, punishment and forgiveness, and the connections that help them maintain communities and more often than not walk a straight line. The connections that help them back onto the path when the stray. It’s just that Washington can’t stop trying to manipulate them for partisan gain. And no one has been more partisan in the last century than George Walker Bush.

#96 – Dodd has a history. That all I am saying. I can’t imagine that a few Democrats won’t pop up on this list. I am sure the left will then say – who cares like they did when Clinton was President. The truth is you do care or we wouldn’t be talking about it.`

We don’t care unless the person is being holier than thou and telling people how to act, then is acting the exact opposite.

It is really that simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

If republicans would just stop pretending to be better than everybody else, then these kinds of issues and stories would go away.

I heard Karen Hughes on NPR last night talking about some of her people patrolling Arab blogs “correcting” mis-characterizations of U.S. actions. I wonder if any of Karen’s people come here to disrupt threads.

It’s just negotiable affection, that’s all… Sheesh!

I am against gay marriage and it has nothing to do with what I do in my bedroom. Some things are just not right. PERIOD. Just because I am a sinner doesn’t mean we should have gay marriage.
Then what’s next – polygamy? Legalized incest?

What I find fascinating is how the analysis shifts depending on the letter next to the perp’s name.

I’m pretty confident that if the first name revealed had been a (D), Tundra wouldn’t be quite so understanding.

And a Demcoratic Senator shows some class by not knocking an embattled colleague on a chat show, and this is your basis for accusing him of hiring prostitutes?
