GOP senators want new war authorization.

By Matt Corley on Jul 13th, 2007 at 5:59 pm

GOP senators want new war authorization.

Sens. Richard Lugar (R-IN) and John Warner (R-VA) “said today that President Bush should seek a new war authorization and present a plan to Congress by Oct. 16 outlining contingency plans in Iraq. Those plans, which would include reducing American forces, should begin by the end of the year.” Their measure will be “considered next week when the Iraq war debate resumes.”

This is going to get interesting. September will be a fun month to watch. Then, sometime early next year, the next false flag incident will cause the complete takeover by the neo-cons. Trouble is brewing ahead.

  2. GWB says:

I don’t need no stinkin authorization to do what I want! I am the decider! Hear that? I AM THE DECIDER!!

  3. J Lewd says:

There should be a term for these Senators who are flipping their support of the President’s flopping war stategery. But what would we call this term? Hmm. . . .

As for the next false flag incident, Chertoff’s “gut reaction” is a pretty good indicator how close it is.

Meant “strategery.” Does it matter if you misspell a nonexistent word?

I would support Sens. Lugar and Warner in their legislation, if that same legislation ENDED the invasion legislation (H. J. Res. 114) and was VERY SPECIFIC that the their legislation specifically BARS the invasion of Iran (or ANY OTHER COUNTRY!) without NEW legislation!

In my opinion, this is just another attempt by Lugar and Warner to protect their rear ends from their constituents who are UNIVERSALLY opposed to giving the current corrupt, crooked president a blank check to persue his debacle in Iraq!

I wouldn’t be surprised if we had another “attack” on US soil before Shrub is supposed to leave. Chertoff is even priming the pump.

  20. david says:

Personally, I never understood how Bush got away with the invasion in the first place. He needed a second UN Security Council resolution; the UN weapons inspectors were on the ground and searching unimpeded; and Saddam was complying even to the extent of allowing the UN inspectors to destroy dozens of his missiles.

The impression I had was that it didn’t matter what the US said; America will always use force first. Why? Because, I suspect, the reasons stated by America as its objective in threatening force are always lies. This is why Bush has triggered a new arms race. Everyone knows that Americans only understand brute force and so everyone must have WMD or America will bully them.

Congress does have the power to declare War. And since this war is technically over and is now an occupation, I think Congress has a right to demand new authorization for the use of force and to offer Congress a plan for that use. I’d also point out that the UN, after delcaring the invasion illegal, had to resign itself to reality –something Americans seem unable to do– and gave America a mandate to secure Iraq. That mandate runs out 31 December 2007.

If Bush won’t seek another authorization, I think Pelosi should plead with Iraq and the UN Security Council NOT to renew the mandate.

  21. ForTruth says:

The MSM is priming the pump too, with none other than FOX news leading the way, pushing a story for days now about Al Quiada coming to the US. Get ready folks.

  22. ForTruth says:

Bin Laden hasn’t had a tape on way too long. Time for a fresh one. If he’s not dead. LOL

  23. david says:

I recall seeing an corny old Eisenhower Era newsreel about what it would be like if Communism came to smalltown USA. It was hilariously funny with the most outrageous stereotypes and improbable plotting.

That’s why I see here with these stories of alQaeda coming to America. Image a dozen Arabs in long robes striding through the mall. Osama’s burka clad chick clinging to his arm. A terrorist sporting the latest dynamite vest. Another terrorist knocking on doorsteps asking householders if they’d heard the good message about Allah.

Yes, indeed, highly probable. NOT. Remember, folks. These are the Republicans who didn’t want curbs placed on money-laundering; they didn’t want shipping containers entering US ports to be sealed because WalMart objected; they didn’t want to take over airport security even though most private security didn’t meet federal standards. These guys are two-faced liars. Either they know alQaeda is no longer a domestic threat or they’re praying for a second attack. They sure as hell aren’t trying to stop one.

  24. nym@alias.net says:

about time those guys realized that the republican leadership has no plan.

maybe next they’ll move to drive down that splurge and spend whopper deficit from all bush’s big gov’t programs.

The NeoCons are ramping up for another attack on US soil. First you have the report that al Qaeda is getting stronger, which is then followed by a story about al Qaeda cells in the US.

Next is some type of explosion.

Then, “See we told you al Qaeda was going to bomb here.”

The next step will be marshal law.

    Then a war with Iran.

Then a war with Pakistan, which will set off a nuclear war and the NeoCons will finally get what they want. To see a nuclear weapon kill millions of Muslims, good or bad, at once.

I am embarassed of this administration and the congress that enables it. But more than anything, I am embarassed we here at home haven’t forced an end to this thing.

We need to get mad, not for the inevitable supression of the citizens here, but rather, for those who have been sent into harms way for questionable reasons and kept there with out-right lies.

It is truely a sobering moment when these blogs are starkly reminded that we are talking about men and women and not principles or ideals. I thank you for posting here. It is important that we hear from you, and we take action.

Are Senators Lugar and Warner opposing the occupation of Iraq, or are they just trying to salvage the wreckage that is the Reptilescum party and the Bush regime from complete devastation and marginalize the Democratic opposition. This bill is nothing but double-speak and rhetoric with no teeth that will enable Bush to call for further escalation as a “new strategy.” The more Republicans change, the more they remain the same.

  41. Furious says:

In Washington yesterday, George W. Bush encountered what might be deemed the “reverse Chicken Little moment” of his presidency. That is, Americans have simply stopped believing his perpetual claims of sunny skies to come in Iraq.

As the President delivered the interim progress report on his Iraq surge, he was greeted with dropped jaws and incredulous stares across the political spectrum. It wasn’t just anti-war stalwart Jack Murtha calling Bush “delusional.” On Friday, Bill O’Reilly told his former Fox News colleague Tony Snow “you can’t win” in Iraq. And long-time GOP speechwriter and conservative cheerleader Peggy Noonan labeled Bush’s performance “weird” and “strange.”

It’s not just that 71% of Americans believe U.S. troops should be largely withdrawn by next April or that 79% believe that Bush’s surge has made the situation in Iraq no better or worse. As Noonan reports, even a faithful Republican in Georgia reported “I don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth.” With the apparent exception of Bush’s own academic experience, a score of 8 out of 18 benchmarks is usually considered a failing grade. It’s no wonder GOP Senators John Warner (R-VA) and Richard Lugar (R-IN) are just the latest to defy President Bush with their proposed Iraq war reauthorization legislation.

    Exactly

Nothing about opposition to EVERYTHING that has gone wrong, just some old men trying to do right in their minds before they expire. Well my Soldiers never got a chance to make peace with themselves, they died because Men and Women who have NO personal stake in this war made decisions out of fear and ignorance, and all they did was stand by their man oyt of party loyalty instead of country loyalty.

Senator’s Warner and Lugar IT’S TOO LATE!!!

It’s too late to act as though you care, to act as if all along you knew this was a disaster because if you knew all along and did nothing then you are negligent.

It’s too late to stand up to the POTUS and the POTS (President of The Senate: Dick Cheney ?) after years of covering up for him and his defeciencies.

It’s too late to play elder statesmen when you know that you fall down on your knees like little boys before Rove, Bush, and Cheney.

It’s too late after all the lies you have told on Faux, Fixed, Fake, Fox News, BSNBC about the conduct, planning, execution of this war by the administration.

And it’s too late for the over 3650 dead, 27,000 injured Soldiers, Marines, Airman. and Sailors.

    It’s too late.

We’re tired of our so-called leaders not standing up for what is right until what is wrong is all thats left.

I don’t believe Warner and I don’t believe Lugar. These guys are like Spector and the other Repugs — they talk tough, but they won’t join the Democrats, they now want to wait until October, giving Bush even another 100 days to fiddle around.
In January, Bush himself said, give me six months — most of us didn’t believe him, but he was given six months anyway.
Now he says, no, the six months didn’t start until July 1; the 6 months is starting now. These Repugs now want to add even more time to that — these are just tactical moves giving Bush all the time he needs to dump the entire mess on the Democrat who succeeds him.

This site has gone to the crapper, with the right winf trolls that have hijacked this site, to Gerald disrespecting a veteran and a soldier that died for his country

I cannot believe that TP has not pulled thse posts and banned all of these trolls, the right wing ones and the ones like Gerald that claim to be left wing, but I suspect are just another right wing troll trying to discredit we who are opposing the Bush administration and the evil they have done to this country.

I am sick of it and I will not be back untill this mess is cleaned up from TP’s site and these trolls gone for good

I will see if I can find another place to discuss issues without having to wade through racist posts, trolls trying to disrupt actuall discussion and posts that bash veterans that are allowed to stay on the site.

Goodbye to all my friends here, if TP cannot get their act together

    Comment by Jigga Da Nigga — July 13, 2007 @ 9:03 pm

This comment is a racial slur and if it is allowed to stand will cast an unfavorable light on ThinkProgress and its staff.

The comment was posted by a poster normally going under the handle of “Mr. President”, who also assumed the name of a Dead Fallen Soldier in order to mock his family member in the same thread.

Insults and wisecracks are one thing.

But racial slurs against the African American community and the use of the word “nigga” and “jigga”, is unnacceptable for any website, and should not be tolerated.

  85. BARTLEBEE says:

I strongly encourage each and everyone of you to take 2 minutes, and file a complaint with ThinkProgess against this troll, who normally goes by the handle, Mr. President.

No public website in the US should be permitting racial slurs to and racist hate speech to be published.

  87. BARTLEBEE says:

I am sure TP will do the right thing here, but in case they feel that racist language mocking Black Americans is something they want on their site, then I suggest filing formal complaints with the FCC for racist hate speech being published on a public internet website.

Last time I checked, the FCC “frowns” on that sort of thing.

I would also suggest contacting the NAACP, and writing leaders like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc, who I assure you can make trouble for a site that promotes hate speech.

All of which I will be doing if this speech is not removed from this site.

  110. Pat says:

Hello Barfly…my problem is not with happy hour…my problem is with the trolls. I just cannot figure out why they hate their country so much. They are just flat ruining it. Hi TrueBlue, Barfly, and TP friends! I’ve gone to C & L, and Kos as the dialogue is much more user friendly there, no trolls to speak of, and people are able to engage in intelligent discourse. It’s MUCH better than the way these threads have degraded due to the trolls.

  114. barfly says:

Well, here’s a development sure to monkey-wrench Bush’s Iraq agenda:

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey, July 13 (Reuters) – Turkey’s army has boosted troop levels in the southeast to more than 200,000, most of them stationed along the border with Iraq, security sources told Reuters on Friday.

The unusually large-scale buildup, which includes tanks, heavy artillery and aircraft, is part of a security crackdown on Kurdish rebels hiding in southeast Turkey and northern Iraq, said the security sources, who declined to be named.

NATO member Turkey has refused to rule out a possible cross-border operation to crush Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels, despite opposition from the United States and Iraq.

The military General Staff in Ankara was not immediately available for comment on the troop numbers.

The armed forces usually boost troop levels in the spring when PKK rebels based in northern Iraq cross the mountains to carry out attacks against Turkish targets.

But security forces said the current buildup was larger than normal. One source said that in Sirnak province troop levels were as high as 50,000 compared with 10,000-20,000 normally.

Highlighting Turkey’s security dilemma, army sources said on Friday two soldiers and two separatist rebels from the PKK had been killed in eastern Turkey during military operations over the past two days.

Dozens of soldiers and paramilitary police have been killed in an escalation of violence in east and southeast Turkey in recent months.

The army has repeatedly urged the government — which faces elections this month — to launch an operation against an estimated 4,000 PKK rebels based in northern Iraq.

Amid public anger over the deaths, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has hinted parliament could be recalled to approve an operation but with just over a week before a parliamentary election has made no move yet to do so.

  115. Pat says:

Thanks much Veritas…I’ll see you over there. I’m not online much, but have appreciated what you have had to say.

  116. veritas says:

I’ve noticed that the threads at other sites are much more timely than TP who doesn’t even put up new news until 9:00 or so in the morning and, other than trolls littering the threads all night, sifting through it to locate anything resembling intelligent conversation has all but disappeared. My opinion is that if TP doesn’t do something about the troll blabber soon, I fear that most people will simply find other blogs who care about the quality of their discussion venue.

  117. veritas says:

Thanks, Pat! I echo your sentiments and enjoy your posts as well. For a while I simply stopped even reading the posts here and then realized when I returned that they’d degenerated even more. If I want to listen to a group of infantiles, I’ll go to my local nursery school instead.

Dunno… was it a military thing, like Velcro? I know Post-its were kind of an accident. A researcher at 3M came up w/ a glue that wouldn’t stick very well. Someone else had an idea – let’s try it on these little pads, and it became 3M’s biggest money maker.

  163. barfly says:

    I love Google!

Since its heralded beginning, the powerful adhesive known as Super Glue has enjoyed a rich history – including an imaginative element of mythology! Though urban legend describes the glue as an accidental solution to battle wounds during World War II, its actual evolution is a little different.

The original cyanoacrylates (the chemical name for the glue) were discovered in 1942 in a search for materials to make clear plastic gun sights for the war, and scientists stumbled upon a formulation that stuck to everything that it came in contact with. However, cyanoacrylates were quickly rejected by American researchers precisely because they stuck to everything! In 1951, cyanoacrylates were rediscovered by Eastman Kodak researchers Harry Coover and Fred Joyner, who recognized its true commercial potential, and it was first sold as a commercial product in 1958.

So, Super Glue came out the same year I did ;)

Look, I know that Mr Pee has gone really overbard ad probably ruined the TP foprum for many single-handedly, and TP wll probably come back soon with registration requirements. I’ll miss this free-wheeling atmosphere, but maybe it’s for the best.

But let’s consider what drives poor Mr. Pee to act the way he does.

He’s clever for his age, but not early as clever as he think he is, and plus he’s probably scared sh!tless about entering high school in a couple of months. He’s obviously not very popular (his posting patterns on a Friday night confirm that) and his parents don’t really pay him much attention either.

He’s found a place where he can get attention, even if it’s negative, and for Mr. pee, that’s better than being lonely. So when TPers start to shun him, he creates new IDs and starts conversations with himself.

Yeah, it’s pathetic, and destructive, but when you’re a teenage right-winger, what’s a boy to do?

Yeah, I found this when I googled ‘incessant talkers’

    I. BEHAVIOR:
Specific attitudes and actions of this child at home and/or at school.

1.A compulsive talker. Loves to talk, and engages in the practice with one and all constantly.

    2.Talks to teachers continually.

    3.Talks to other students continually.

    4.Will even talk to him/herself.

    5.Makes irrelevant comments—at inappropriate times.

    6.A poor listener.

7.Often does not realize that he/she is talking.

8.When teacher corrects, says, “I wasn’t talking to him; he was talking to me.”

    9.Has a short attention span.

    10.Craves attention.

………. A little bit of this stuff is amusing sometimes, but… that TP would let someone with a mental condition totally disrupt the comments section is pretty silly IMO

Speaking to The Alex Jones Show, the Texas Congressman was asked his opinion on Cindy Sheehan’s recent comments that the U.S. is in danger of a staged terror attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation that will validate the Neo-Con agenda and lead to the implementation of the infrastructure of martial law that Bush recently signed into law via executive order, as well as public pronouncements from prominent officials that the West needs terrorism to save a doomed foreign policy.

“I think we’re in great danger of it,” responded the Congressman, “We’re in danger in many ways, the attack on our civil liberties here at home, the foreign policy that’s in shambles and our obligations overseas and commitment which endangers our troops and our national defense.”

BOXER: “Yeah. I mean, you left out a bunch of things — spying on citizens without a warrant, going around FISA, on and on. Look, I have always said it should be on the table. Ed, I’ve always said it. I was on a book tour and I ran into John Dean of Watergate fame. He was on the book tour that I was on, for his book. And it was right after we discovered that the administration was spying on our people without a warrant. And he just said, he looked at me and basically just said, as far as he could see, unless there was some explanation for this, this was impeachable. I’ve always said that you need to keep it on the table, and you need to look at these things, because now people are dying because of this administration. That’s the truth. And they won’t change course. They are ignoring the Congress. They keep signing these signing statements which mean that he’s decided not to enforce the law. This is as close as we’ve ever come to a dictatorship. When you have a situation where Congress is stepped on, that means the American people are stepped on. So I don’t think you can take anything off the table. Because in fact the Constitution doesn’t permit us to take these things off the table….”

This is a joke, a ruse, this is just so it looks like some “responsible” Repuppetcan’s were the ones who got the POTUS to reduce the level of troops. There are “troops” who were supposed to be home in JULY 07 but were extended so they will be coming back in Sep-Oct anyway. will that be seen as a reduction NO because the units that they replaced (MY unit) will be replacing them after OUR units were deactivated in one place and then reflagged as another unit and made to look like WE are a new unit therefore= NEW TROOPS.

So WE”RE being recycled and it looks to those who dont know that the POTUS is listening but he is just rotating us from one place to another. Thats how it is without all of the rhetoric, BS, and Bush/GOP-speak.

And where are all the “General’s on the ground” (in my best Bush voice), They’re all somewhere on their knees praying to a life-size George Bush cutout, and the ones who do speak out (the 5-10 who have a pair) are no longer “Generals on the ground” or anywhere else for that matter .

So this is again just political cover so some Repuppetcans come Nov 08 can say they “broke” with the POTUS, if they really cared about “the troops” this would have been done in 05,06.

What the hell did we give the Dems the House and Senate for if all they do is live in fear of LIEberman, MAD-Man MCcain, AIPAC, and a bunch of the most ignorant, incompetent, dishonest public officials and media personalities ever to roam the earth.

PiPPy would like us to believe that he was offline at the time. Maybe mommy sent him out for ciggies, I dunno. But the usual turds (PiPPy, The Jerker, et al) were clearly in freefall. Some solid participants here have simply left. If TP doesn’t get it together soon, PiPPy and his cadre of losers will be touching one another and no one will be here to care. Sheehan: Distinct Chance Of Staged Attack, Martial Law
Peace Mom warns of false flag terror as she prepares to take on sell-out Pelosi:

Cindy Sheehan, the famous Peace Mom who recently expressed her intention to run against Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco, says there’s a “distinct possibility” that America will be hit with another staged terror attack that will allow Bush to enact the martial law provisions he recently signed into law.

Sheehan spoke to The Alex Jones Show as she prepares to embark on a two week trek towards Washington to confront Pelosi.

Asked what she thought of numerous recent comments on behalf of politicians, military analysts and GOP kingpins that the Bush administration needs more terror to save a doomed foreign policy, along with recent legislation that establishes the framework for martial law in the event of an emergency, Sheehan was open to the plausibility that another false flag attack could be visited upon the American people.

“I definitely think that is a distinct possibility, that there will be some kind of attack whether it’s manufactured or real….I think it’s really possible that these people will do that – why would he [Bush] put in that presidential directive if he didn’t need to use it – I think it’s really really frightening,” Sheehan told The Alex Jones Show.

“Does anybody think that [Bush's] recent presidential decision directive wasn’t for declaring martial law and suspending elections – that’s why they have to be stopped,” added Sheehan.

Recently liberated from the straightjacket of partisan control, Sheehan attacked the Democrats for failing to achieve what they were voted in to do last November.

“The culture of corruption doesn’t stop at the Republican party and people need to realize that Democrats are not our saviors,” said Sheehan.

The Star article discusses a new study which surmises that military invasions since World War 2 that require cooperation of the population of a country to succeed hold only a 17% chance of success.

In a paraphrased quote attributed to Delaney, he concludes that “The key to bolstering Western resolve is another terrorist attack like 9/11 or the London transit bombings of two years ago.”

“If nothing happens, it will be harder still to say this is necessary,” adds Delaney.

That would make sense if they were selling banner ads, but they’re not. I suspect it’s a matter of inattention or a lack of expertise in one way or another. White House: No specific terror threat against US:

    Reuters | July 11, 2007

WASHINGTON, July 11 (Reuters) – The Bush administration said on Wednesday there was no specific, credible terrorism threat against the United States and denied that an emergency meeting had been called.

ABC News reported on Tuesday that the White House had called an urgent multi-agency session for Thursday to discuss a potential new al Qaeda threat on U.S. soil.

White House officials said it was a regularly scheduled meeting and not attended by the most senior national security officials.

BTW, folks… I just got back from the US. I was in Cleveland for 3 days and, I know, I tend to throw some shit around about the US now and then, (I could do the same or worse with my native country, of course), let me tell you that I was really really impressed with your country. People were extremely kind, supportive and diligent. So, that is in order to restore balance to my biased POV.

Of course, at the Congress I was participating I was able to throw around some sh*t about the attitude of compulsing consumption of Americans, and people were just nodding their heads. Impressive.

So sorry if I offended anyone of you.

  324. FOX News says:

Santorum clearly implies that terror attacks will occur inside America:

Over a month ago, Dennis Milligan, the chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party, sounded pretty excited about the prospect of domestic terrorism. “At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country,” Milligan said.

Yesterday, Rick Santorum echoed a similar sentiment on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show.

Santorum went on to clearly imply that terror attacks will occur inside America which will alter the body politic and lead to a reversal of the anti-war sentiment now dominating the country.

“Between now and November, a lot of things are going to happen, and I believe that by this time next year, the American public’s going to have a very different view of this war, and it will be because, I think, of some unfortunate events, that like we’re seeing unfold in the UK. But I think the American public’s going to have a very different view,” said the former senator from Pennsylvania.

As Avedon put it, “Shouldn’t it concern us that Republicans are constantly talking about how people will all wise up when the next terrorist attack at home comes? I mean, they really seem to be looking forward to it, and they take great delight in the thought that, by God, people will see things differently when it happens.”

Apparently. I simply cannot fathom such a twisted worldview. Americans will support Bush’s Iraq policy if we experience another 9/11-style attack? We’ll rally to a neocon vision of the world if thousands of innocents are slaughtered?

Does this make any sense at all?

Norman Mineta Confirms That Dick Cheney Ordered Stand Down on 9/11:

Former Transportation Secretary Disputes 9/11 Commission Report Timetable for Dick Cheney and Reveals Lynn Cheney Was Also in PEOC Bunker Before Attack.

Former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta answered questions from members of 9/11 Truth Seattle.org about his testimony before the 9/11 Commission report.

Mineta says Vice President Cheney was “absolutely” already there when he arrived at approximately 9:25 a.m. in the PEOC (Presidential Emergency Operations Center) bunker on the morning of 9/11. Mineta seemed shocked to learn that the 9/11 Commission Report claimed Cheney had not arrived there until 9:58– after the Pentagon had been hit, a report that Mineta definitively contradicted.

Norman Mineta revealed that Lynn Cheney was also in the PEOC bunker already at the time of his arrival, along with a number of other staff.

Mineta is on video testifying before the 9/11 Commission, though it was omitted in their final report. He told Lee Hamilton:

“During the time that the airplane was coming into the Pentagon, there was a young man who would come in and say to the Vice President…the plane is 50 miles out…the plane is 30 miles out….and when it got down to the plane is 10 miles out, the young man also said to the vice president “do the orders still stand?” And the Vice President turned and whipped his neck around and said “Of course the orders still stand, have you heard anything to the contrary!?

Mineta confirmed his statements with reporters, saying “When I overheard something about ‘the orders still stand’ and so, what I thought of was that they had already made the decision to shoot something down.”

  378. Wayne says:

thanks for cleaning up this thread of most of the racist comments and the comments mocking a dead serviceman that died for this country.

While I have posted here for a long time and have stuck it out through the many issues we have had with the trolls, yesterday on this thread was the last straw. While I apreciate greatly the news and reports TP puts up to imform us, the comments have gotten to be unbearable most days.

The mocking of a dead serviceman and a serviceman posting a rememberance of his memory really got to me, where most other junk posted by these trolls I have ignored in the past.

Yesterday when I posted my resignation I was at a coffeeshop that I was playing at and was showing one of the audience members who is a National Guard member who just got orders to go to Iraq for his 2nd tour, this site to show him that this is a good place for news of what is really going on. The comments upset him greatly and me, personally I was beyond mad, I was livid.

The troll Gerald gibson and the hijack of Juan C. calling servicemen serving war criminals just tipped it off. As someone who has served and has family serving now, despite not agreeing with the policies, It with the mocking was just too much.

I notice the Mr. P and CT troll are still posting in the new thread and trying to disrupt it today, after many times posting bigotted posts and many violations of the terms. Even though Pee stated he had nothing to do with the stuff yesterday, I do not believe him because he has been too involved in trollish junk in the past.

I am also registered under my same name here, Wayne at dailykos, but I may not even post there for a while at this point. It is time for me to take a hiatus from the blog world for a while and just spend time enjoying my making music in my off times from work.

I will check back here eventually and if things are fixxed, I may even start posting again, but in the mean while Peace and good luck

Finally, a lying troll with the guts to PARTIALLY label him/herself for what s/he really is: a LYING TROLL! Well, s/he just admits to the Troll part!

    Lying? Yes, LYING!

Lie #1: Dems want Americans to forget that they supported the war

    Truth:
First, it isn’t a “war!” Read the enabling legislation, “war” is NOT mentioned.

Second, a minority of Democratic members of the House supported H.J.Res. 114. 132 Democratic members of the House OPPOSED the legislation. 23 Democratic members of the Senate OPPOSED that legislation. To hold the Democrats responsible for what the NeoCons did in overwhealmingly supporting the current corrupt, crooked president in his lying us into the invasion, occupation and destruction of Iraq is very Troll-like.

    Lie #2: “…and ousting saddam”

    Truth:
NOWHERE in the enabling legislation is “ousting saddam” mentioned as an objective.

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a defense of the MANY Democratic members of the House and Senate who voted AGAINST a majority of their Democratic constituents in order to join the NeoCons in their support of the current corrupt, crooked president and his chickhawk handlers. This is a defense of the TRUTH, which the trolls (and “Troll”) choose to ignore.

  382. hterrya says:

What is needed now from the Democratic members in the House is the passage of H.R. 1234 (To end the United States occupation of Iraq immediately), which would remove our troops from harm’s way out of the civil war in Iraq and would undo some of the destruction done in Iraq by our invasion and occupation.

It couldn’t get past a filibuster in the Senate, or get past a veto if it passed the Senate, but it would set the tone for the 2008 election.

The bill by Sens. Lugar and Warner (which is the topic of this thread) is BOGUS!

    # 378 – (My) Comment by hterrya — July 15, 2007 @ 8:32 am

“First, it isn’t a “war!” Read the enabling legislation, “war” is NOT mentioned.”

    I was wrong.

To be SURE about the statement, I went back to read every word of the bill. In the last paragraphs, the legislation refers to the War Powers Resolution (War Powers Resolution of 1973 – Public Law 93-148, 93rd Congress, H. J. Res. 542, November 7, 1973), which allows a president to act AS IF we were at war, if the requirements of Public Law 93-148 are met by the President.

I’m not sure if the current corrupt, crooked president has, in fact, met all of the requirements of the law (I doubt it), but saying that the word “war” does not appear in H. J. Res. 114, is WRONG.

The rest of my assertions in comment # 378 are CORRECT!

BTW: My assertions in comment # 379 are also CORRECT!
