Robert Novak on bloggers:

They “bloviate. They give their opinions. They don’t try to find things out.” (Neither does Novak.)

UPDATE: Novak says he’s “never going to retire.”

UPDATE II: In his upcoming memoir, Novak discloses that he has “never enjoyed such a good source inside the White House” as Karl Rove.

I refuse to get angry today. Novak is a dick.

If you can read this sentence, thank your underwear.

    This was fun.

  2. Some Guy says:

    It’s just sad… not that I feel for Bob… but you know it’s just…yeah

    by TP

So TP agrees, blogs like TP do not bother to find things out.

  4. RUCerious says:

They’ll cart him off in one of those hand trucks they used for Dr. Lecter.

  5. Yikes says:

Too bad Novak can’t do a better job of ‘finding things out’.

  7. Buch Fush says:

If it wasn’t for Bloggers digging up the dirt on this administration of criminals then no one would know what they were doing at all. Novak is a lieing piece of crap. It’s the MSM that does not do their homework very well, they just sell what ever their corporate masters tell them to sell.

  8. Harmonika Savingsbonds says:

  9. Drinksforall says:

Oh yeah, Boobie “finds things out” and then intentional destroys the career(s) of well established CIA Agents and thier projects (Brewster jennings). Once again this should be on his tombstone..” Traitor Scumbag”!!

  10. Shawn Fassett says:

    …and dementia kicks in.

  11. Tom says:

Guess that means that Little Bobby is eminently qualified to blog.

  12. kelso says:

Robert ‘the hack’ Novak is just pissing in the wind because his roll in the media has been reduced down to complete irreverence. Blogs have been hacking away at the media dominance of TV pundits, newspapers and magazines (hence the constant antagonism toward them) and it’s a trend that will only continue to accelerate since the current dominant media structure decided to abdicate it’s duty to inform the public a long long time ago.

  13. Bob says:

In the parallel universe where republicans have morals and respect The Law, Novack is at least in prison, if not already hung.

  14. Gregor Samsa says:

    LOL!!

    Now, that is really rich!

Novak’s masters in the White House are the biggest bloviators on the planet, but that’s is ok in his book.

Why? Well, because it’s ok if you’re a Republican, that’s why!

  15. Cream Dream #2 says:

    He’s right.

Both right- and left-wing blogs are nothing but echo chambers.

  16. Jackie says:

He’s a bitter old man who got caught playing with the worse Administration in the history of America. At lease Novak will be remembered in the history books of America as the Journalist who wrote the article about a covert active CIA agent and there by good alot of people killed who worked with her overseas.
What a legacy for Novak it’s one he might not be to proud of when future teachers tell students this is what a bad Journalist looks like.

  17. A Patriot Acting says:

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crises. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”

    ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Bob No-sack is not part of the solution, he is however been a part of the problem as long as I can remember. Traitorous sc@mbag

  18. Cream Dream #2... 2... 2... 2.... says:

    He’s right.

Both right- and left-wing blogs are nothing but echo chambers.

  19. Annie B. says:

Mr. Novak is one of those poor souls who does not quite know when to retire–even though we keep telling him that the party is over, finished, done!

  20. Furious says:

That means we can expect more like this post-Libby commutation abomination from Novak, a man at the heart of Plamegate:

“”The unique aspect of the Libby conviction was that there was no underlying crime whose prosecution he is accused of obstructing…Republicans have raised millions of dollars for Libby’s defense, painting him as the victim of prosecutorial abuse and the criminalization of politics.”

  21. Zimzone says:

    Retarded, stoned Bullfrogs croak eventually…

any money on when he croaks?

  22. Jeff says:

Robert Novak is one of the many old, crusty white men whose death will be a boon for our society.

I can not wait until these ignorant, racist, originalist morons are no longer walking the Earth. They have been prevent progress for long enough.

Also- just so I can bloviate: Fuck Robert Novak, he’s an idiot.

  23. Thom says:

What, one wonders, was Novak trying to “find out” when he asked the CIA about Valerie Plame? Apparently what he “found out” didn’t fit well for the bloviations he had planned for the article.

  24. E_I says:

Never going to retire, eh? He’s going to need to suck lots of blood for that.

  25. Gregor Samsa says:

”The unique aspect of the Libby conviction was that there was no underlying crime whose prosecution he is accused of obstructing… ”
    Comment by Furious — July 13, 2007 @ 1:57 pm

And the obvious answer to Novak’s babble is: It doesn’t matter. Obstruction of justice is, in itself, a crime. Whether or not there is an “underlying crime” is entirely beside the point.

(And another obvious retort to Bush-watercarrier Novak is: If there was nothing to hide, why did Libby choose to obstruct? And why did Bush and Cheney stonewall the Congressional investigation?)

    Talk about having chutzpah.

  26. Kryptik says:

    ….

    ….

    ….

Novak has absolutely no standing to make this criticism whatsoever. None, zero, zilch, nada, cero, rei, null, etc.

Novak does worse than just ‘give opinions’. He actively tries to quash the truth.

  27. Pete Bogs says:

correction: we “blogiate,” and damned proudly, too…

  28. Mark says:

Never, Bob? No one lives forever, jackass.

  29. OutSourced says:

Coming from a paper edited by Fred Hiatt, that includes himself and Howard Kurz in its opinion columns, that’s a lot of chutzpah from Butcher Bob.

Bob is feeling sad and lonely and wondering what he will do in retirement. As usual, he is partly correct, but misleading. Blogs, even this one, are sometimes inundated with AEI trolls and petty small talk. But they are also putting out some of the best journalism in America. It is immediately peer-reviewed and stands or falls on its merits. Like Bush and Cheney, Novak has an obsessive fear of judgment, as well they should. That fear arises not because some bloggers “bloviate” (any more than Fred Hiatt does), but because they can tell the difference between a nag and winner a mile away and ain’t afraid to call it like they see it. Hard to imagine Bob joining them by spilling the beans on Karl Rove and Irving Lewis Libby.

Novakula is, sadly, attempting a rear guard action in support of both overpaid opinionators and the gated community known as beltway journalists. He will be as unsuccessful as telegraph operators, lead type setters and printers’ unions were in keeping theirs. Globalization and the Iinternet, Bob, like karma, is a hitch.

  30. AR says:

What does Novak know about bloggers? Maybe he ’s upset that bloggers have done more to uncover more corruption in the Bush administration than the corporate media ever has in 6 years. Most progressive bloggers I know are fairly knowledgeble and dig deep for the truth– something Novak has never done.

  31. Marcus Aurelius says:

History will read like this: Benedict Arnold, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Robert Novak. Under the heading Turncoats, Traitors, and the Treasonous.

  32. NoOneYouKnow says:

I’m not sure “retirement” is the correct word, since it’ll require a stake to be pounded through his shrunken, leathery heart.

  33. A Patriot Acting says:

“One of the few good things about modern times: If you die horribly on television, you will not have died in vain. You will have entertained us. ”
    -Kurt Vonnegut

  34. marlow says:

Wow, the scorn of an unrepentant traitor. That hits kinda hard…

  35. Powkat says:

As opposed to Novak who once stomped off the set in a huff. We need shorthand for ‘Just Another Lying A$$hat’.

  36. A Patriot Acting says:

“In his upcoming memoir, Novak discloses that he has “never enjoyed such a good source inside the White House” as Karl Rove.”

Source for what, names of covert CIA agents and endless fresh talking points? Or perhaps he’s an excellent source for fresh kittens for torture and amusement. I hear Karl knows this guy who knows this guy who…

  37. LibertyLover says:

Yeah, but KKKarl Wasn’t his source for the Plameleak.
This treasonous piece of sh*t — and it was treason for him to print Vaerie’s name— should no longer have a job. He is as anti-American as anyone can get…

OOps. I guess I bloviated there.

  38. Heynow says:

Novak enjoying Rove…. Thats a mental picture I didn’t need.

  39. The Unknown Democrat says:

I don’t care what Robert Novak says. He’s nothing but a rightwing idiot. He doesn’t find out the facts before he shoots of his BIG MOUTH. He’s also a coward. He’s proud of the fact that he outted a CIA agent too. This man should be tried for treason. That’s what’s supposed to happen to people who reveal the cover of a Spy. Novak has no crediability left and he never had any either. This guy is a NAZI/Skinhead/Klan sypmathizer and there should be no place for his voice in politics or the press.

  40. OutSourced says:

“Bob Novak” is to journalism like “concentration camp guard” is to underground resistance fighter.

  41. Lora says:

    and dementia kicks in.
    Comment by Shawn Fassett

I thought he was born with dementia.

  42. Hawkeye says:

Novakula speaks! That guy is totally out to lunch.

  43. Paul in LA says:

“Novak says he’s “never going to retire.”

Which means that he must be scheduling his South American cruise any day now.

Novakula doesn’t hang by his feet for nothing.

  44. missmolly says:

    To Bob Novak:

Bloggers give their opinions? Duh. That’s like saying stand-up comics tell jokes. Blogs are for opinions, viewpoints, and any thoughts a blogger might have. People who read blogs read them to get opinions. And there’s no shortage of them — there are right-wing blogs, left-wing blogs, satire blogs, religious blogs, gay blogs — any blog you might want to read is just a google away.

But there’s a BIG difference between blogging and genuine journalism! When journalists present themselves as objective (or — gag — “fair and balanced”), state a premise that fits a particular agenda and back it up with unchecked “facts”, made-up or wildly spun data, or speculation, this is misleading the public.

Tend to the mote in your own eye, Novak. Then you can see to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

  45. Clockwork Orange says:

    only the good die young.

  46. Buck Johnson says:

Novak, the one that outed a CIA operative at the behest of one maybe two people in the Whitehouse. And he says that bloggers don’t research there information. I get more truth from the Blogs and the Internet news sites (also foreign media) than I do from the Iron Curtain of media that is around the US to filter out bad thoughts (real news) from the rest of the world. The reason the american media and china (good company) hate blogs is that it gets out information that normally would have been vetted by the news editor of a major media empire before going out on the airwaves. Not anymore, once that information is out there people can see and propagate the knowledge to other sites.

It’s about control, I have seen better reporting from some blogs than I have from some of the so called fair and balanced mainlined news agencies (CNN, Faux news, NBC, CBS, ABC etc.).

  47. ICHTHUS says:

    100% TRUTH!!!

    Comment by Mr. President — July 13, 2007 @ 1:45 pm

We have been down this path before Mr P.

All that exists is A-toms and empty space; all else is just opinion.

Where and when did Life begin Mr P?

  48. Shirley says:

AND THEY FIRED DAN RATHER FOR REPORTING A TRUE STORY WITH ONE UNVERIFIABLE DOCUMENT! (Which,BTW was NEVER proven to be a forgery, unlike the Niger uranium documents the Bush Administration touted!)
But bastards like Novak, party to felonious activity, gets to go on for ever…

  49. Shirley says:

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about the CIA and bastards such as Novak. Anybody know what the MOSSAD is up to lately? Have they been caught trying to blow anybody up?

  50. Shirley says:

OMG! Could the gut feeling Chertoff have be any indication of some imminent MOSSAD business? False Flag attacks are real, you know!

  51. JIMBO says:

    Mr. Novak,

I have news for you. We bloggers are never going away. We are stick around as long as we can, even after we vanquish old pro-establishment relics like you to the museums. Today, we bloggers are the new journalists. We provide truth to the world. All you provide is hot air.
