Support for Bush slipping in Kansas.
As the pro-Bush Wichita Eagle on Tuesday called on President Bush to “face reality” and “redeploy” U.S. troops out of Iraq, staunch Bush ally Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) also qualified his support for the war, stating that his support for Bush’s policy is “not locked into concrete: “We have to make some very tough decisions…We can’t continue to be engaged in a war which the American people do not support.”

July 13th, 2007 at 1:58 pmBob Woodruff had a report last night about soldiers who more than likely suffered a traumatic brain injury, were unable to cope afterward, and the army dismissed them for ‘personality disorder’ (defined as a preexisting condition) which means no disability, no benefits and in some cases, they had to pay back their reinlistment bonus. Of course, nobody noticed the ‘personality disorder’ when they were suckering the poor kids into signing up.
Things like this are why so many people are turning against the war and the Republicans – progressives have known for years that BushCo didn’t give a damn about ‘the troops.’ Now the rest of the country is waking up to the facts.

My little sister came home from Iraq wounded from mortar fire, losing most her pancreas and part of her liver, only to have the political appontees kick her off medical after getting her medical discharge, which she now has to fight for her medical in appeals, rather than relaxing and recovering from her wounds. This crap is going on constantly by the Bush administration, kicking vets to the curb to cut costs

All he was was a big mouth which wrote checks his body couldn’t cash. Now that we’ve gotten our ‘righteous Revenge’ on him, now suddenly Iraq is a haven for a new branch of Al Queda and the terrorist network is or is not more powerful than it was in 2001, according to who you talk to.

What would make it better is for you and everyone else to write your representative and complain about the treatment veterans receive, so she ( and other veterans kicked to the curb ) can get the medical coverage the country owes her for bleeding for it, you know that “fact” you don’t believe in.
Her husband had to re-enlist and is in Iraq again because of this crap, so they don’t go bankrupt with her medical bills.
My family has proudly served the military for several generations, one of my sons is currently in Iraq also, due to be back stateside in about 3 months.

July 13th, 2007 at 4:25 pmI live in Wichita, Ks. and I don’t believe this state is a Bush state, nor is the Eagle a Bush loving paper. The Eagle tends to keep it’s editorial page fair, giving both views prominent time from day to day. I’ve seen one day being very con, and the next being very lib. I have to give the paper kudos for sticking down the middle.
I go on Kansas.com also to give the cons hell in the comments section of the articles and editorial sections of the paper and to be honest, there is as many libs posting as there are cons.
In a state where there is barely ANY liberal programming, in which I hate to say, I do not believe the midnight programming of Alan Colmes is fair to us, and the rest of the day is all conservative. I just can’t take Colmes seriously as a liberal at all times either, maybe it’s just because he works on Fox. We need KFH to be liberal, and KNSS to stay as conservative for a real fair balance. There are plenty of very successful shows to stick on there that make money, like Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, and many others. Anywho, we aren’t doing too bad for a state who has been 98% cut out of liberal programming on our airwaves, even though we are demanding it to the point where we are paying money for it.

Don’t you realize that you just proved what a misguided militaristic monster the 109th was? Just look at those buills you worked so hard to find, are you blind to the reality they prove, or the implications they impart?
Look at some of these double-speak bill titles, don’t you ever wonder how many of these bills were just more cover for a no-bid deal somewhere? Buried in many of these “support” bills is an earmark, a big dollop of taxpayer gravy.
Thanks again, just for proving for us exactly what you want to continue to deny; that the war in Iraq is an exercise in corporate imperialism and us taxpayers get to foot the bill.
Where’s the 109th bill that requires the President to live up to the recruiting contracts they use to lure in new soldiers?
That is supporting the troops, instead of a misguided agenda.

The policy must change, under Bush and Cheney we have lost more Americans than we lost on 9-11 in Iraq. This failed war is his legacy.
