Why mikey you little scamp, here I was waiting for you to answer me on the Rice thread below (hours ago) and here you are trashing up this thread with your stupidity. Let’s stay on topic my moronic little friend – what do you think about the poll ratings?
Your claim is not so much dishonest- I do believe you honestly are this misinformed. But rather it is illogical. Let us examine the validity of your assertion: “You want us to bring our military home. That in any language equals surrender.â€
This categorical claim is flawed for several reasons. First, you say that bringing the military home is synonymous with surrender- in any language even. However, if we were to bring the military home from bases in Germany or elsewhere would that equal surrender? Obviously not. You are missing a few basic premises here.
You might try to argue that bringing our troops home from a war that they are actively fighting would be surrender. But again I think this is problematic, since it is really not a conventional war they are fighting, but, rather, a civil war they are policing. So I am not sure that bringing troops home would mean “surrender.â€
You should avoid thoughtless categorical claims. I guess they work for W most the time, but we’re brighter here.
“And what makes you think I would waste my entire Saturday sitting in front of my computer debating with stupid children?
Comment by michael — July 14, 2007 @ 8:43 pm”
Why nothing does mikey. Afterall, if you wanted to debate stupid children all day you wouldn’t have been here for most of it.
Surrender is when soldiers, nations, or other combatants stop fighting and become prisoners of war, either as individuals or when ordered to by their officers. A white flag is often used to surrender, as is the gesture of raising one’s hands empty and open above one’s head.
Stupid freaking republicans have been accusing 2/3rds of this country of wanting to surrender now for 4 years.
But what they are really saying, is that homeschooling doesn’t work, and they’re too inbred stupid to understand the meaning of a simple word like Surrender.
Walking away from a war without winning it is surrender!
Comment by michael
Of course, if that war can be won… so, Mikey, you will be enlisting soon, no? And don’t wear your mother’s best dress when you go in. Even if it’s in honor of TRudi, it… just doesn’t look good.
michael just can’t get it through his head that the number he constantkly throws out there to try to distract from the President’s dismal poll nmber is a fake.
I’ve corrected him several times already. He usually disappears rather than deal with the truth, and then resurfaces later with the same exact talking point.
The truth is not even that Congress typically has low approval marks (people generally like their own Congressman or Senator but thinks “Congress” is a bunch of crooks or grandstanders) and that comparing the approval of an entire body to that of a single individual is comparing apples to oranges; no, that’s not even the big deal here.
The big deal is that michael’s “14% approval” is actually from a Gallup poll a couple weeks ago, where 14% of the respondents said that they had “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in Congress.
That same week, the same polling organization reported a 24% approval rating for Congress as a whole.
So michael is lying, and apparently, he doesn’t care.
The right wing it seems has embraced purposeful deceit as their standard operational tactic, and they are brazen in their open and purposeful lying now.
Like Michelle, calling 26 percent 14 percent when she knows thats not correct, to labeling the wisdom to terminate a failed occupation “surrendering”, the right wing is left with nothing but lies.
In WW1, there was a famous story, of a German ace, who had a british pilot, who’s guns had jammed, in his sights. If memory serves me correct, the german pilot was Oswald Boelke, the mentor to Manfred Von Richtofen, (the red baron), in his Albatross DII, and the Englishmen I don’t recall, although as best as I remember he was flying an old british FE2, “pusher”, and the observers Lewis gun had jammed, leaving the british plane at the mercy of the german ace.
As the story goes, the german banked off to one side of the little pusher plane, and the german turned to the observer and pilot, saluted, and then, after both the observer and pilot returned the benevolant salute, turned and flew off towards the german lines.
That one event has been played out over and over in movies and stories for 100 years as one of the most honorable examples of civilized combat.
But by our troll Michelles logic, that germans salute constituted a surrender.
Bartles, the righties sure know how to market propaganda, with such cute monikers as “surrender monkeys”, etc.
We should feel real free to come up with our own.

AUSTIN — An influx of doctors lured to Texas by new limits on malpractice lawsuits has overwhelmed the state board that screens candidates for medical licenses, creating a backlog that forces many applicants to wait months before they can start seeing patients.
Thats right. Thats because those of us who voted for them are showing disapproval, (like we do in here lamebrain) with them for not giving Bush the boot yet.
Now that thats cleared up, lets chat about Dick Cheney’s approval rating.

Only a complete moron would think that the approval rating of the congress is not in direct relation to the obstructionist GOP and the veto happy sob in the WH. The people in the USA are calling bull crap on this entire war, the lies of the thugs in the crime family, and the inability to get the hell out of the clusterfuck that was created for the profits of the military industrial complex and oil companies. No more non-sense…it is all because of Dubya and the same rubbernecks who gave him free rein for the past six years. The GOP is so over for such a long time. They are a thing of the past.
And a bottom feeding, brain dead, troglodyte like you would not factor in the small majority the Democratic Party has with the fact that the GOP congressmen have been rubbernecked accomplices to the crimes of the thugs in the crime family. Your plan of obstruction will not work in your favor…remember this…the 72% is not as dumb as the 28% base of the crime family. You my friend are a moron.
Not even FAUXNOIZ gives Dubya a rating that high on anything. You are a liar as well as a bottom dwelling, knuckle dragging, troglodyte, moron.
Hey, his rating on several issues is 1.5x the Democrats!
Bush’s marks on his handling of the economy and domestic issues like health care, education and the environment, held steady, at 37 percent on the economy and 33 percent on domestic matters. Last month, Bush was at 37 percent approval for his stewardship of the economy, and 32 percent on domestic issues.
On handling of foreign policy, including terrorism, 38 percent approved, compared with 35 percent last month.
Why do people treat poll percentages as FACT when they are no more accurate than throwing a dart blindfolded at a grid with 100 squares?
Every American with an ounce of COMMON SENSE knows President Bush’s escalation in Iraq is a failure and was sure to fail, and they will know that even if a poll says 99.999% agree with Bush!
Do people think that loseless text file compression works by “magic”?
In an ASCII text file all the characters are normally represented by two bytes, but in a simple compressed ASCII text file the more common characters are represented by one byte, while the uncommon characters are represented by three bytes.
This simple text file compression works because letters such as A and E are more common in the English language than letters such as X and Z.
If you simple compress a file with lots of X and Z letters, you will end up with a file that is bigger than the original, and therefore the outcome can be completely wrong!
Do people think that random sampling works by “magic”?
Do people really think that a poll of 1,000 out out 300,000,000 can be accurate to within a few percentage points?
What about the other 299,999,000 people who were not sampled and could have answered the question opposite to the conclusion?
Does not the .0000033333 (1,000 / 300,000,000) level of certainty that this poll has reached the correct outcome, make it completely uncertain and therefore completely useless?
Random sampling factory defects DOES WORK when sampling much less than 80% of a population, because the defects come from the same breaking down machines and not from the other working order machines, which means the outcomes are occuring in a repeating pattern.
If you have 100 machines and your small sample size shows a 2% defect rate, you can be RESONABLY sure that your large population has a 2% defect also.
You reasonably assume that 2 machines out of a 100 are breaking down, and you do not unreasonably assume that all 100 machines are equally creating defects!
Just like file compression, random sampling only works for certain cares, namely where the outcomes are either random (the outcomes have an equal probabliity of occurring) or periodic (the outcomes occur in a repeating pattern).
Unlike random sampling factory defects, random sampling peoples opinions DOES NOT WORK when sampling much less than 80% of a population, because peoples opinions are unique and neither random nor periodic, and randomly picking the people is irrelevant and does changes this FACT.
If you are NOT sampling at least 80% of a population, your poll is UNCERTAIN and therefore is not FACT!
Polls WILL ONLY WORK, if people answer the poll questions based on coin flips or rolling dice results!
When will people learn that you never get something for nothing, and random sampling is no different.
Polls are psychological tools designed to INFLUENCE opinion and not MEASURE it!
This infuence is GOOD in this case by saying 68% disagree with Bush when the actual number is unknown.
This influence was BAD in the case before the war by saying 68% agree with Bush when the actual number was unknown.
I find it sad that the people have been “brain washed” to think that you can “magically” predict what 300,000,000 people think based on what 1000 people think!
WASHINGTON — In the eyes of the public, Congress is doing even worse than the president.
Public satisfaction with the job lawmakers are doing has fallen 11 points since May, to 24 percent, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll. That’s lower than for President Bush, who hasn’t fared well lately, either.
Bush has been taking heat over the Iraq war, his decision to spare a former top vice presidential aide from going to prison and his desire for an overhaul of immigration laws that critics said would give a free pass to illegal immigrants. His job approval rating in the AP-Ipsos survey remained virtually unchanged at 33 percent.
The C.B.O.’s most recent calculations of federal tax rates show a highly progressive system. (The numbers are based on 2004 data, but the tax code has not changed much since then.) The poorest fifth of the population, with average annual income of $15,400, pays only 4.5 percent of its income in federal taxes. The middle fifth, with income of $56,200, pays 13.9 percent. And the top fifth, with income of $207,200, pays 25.1 percent.
At the very top of the income distribution, the C.B.O. reports even higher tax rates. The richest 1 percent has average income of $1,259,700 and forks over 31.1 percent of its income to the federal government.
We need to jack the rates for these assholes up to 90% over $750,000…to pay for the wars for their profits and the oil companies…it would stop the war really fast.
cherry picking is used metaphorically to indicate the act of pointing at individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related cases or data that may contradict that position.
If a two day old article references a poll that does not conform to the polls taken in the same time frame around it, I’d call that cherry picking.
Apparently the only picking going on in the m12 world is nostril related.
Bartebee, I can see correcting a troll like He’s12 once, maybe twice, but when he insists on calling those of us who disapprove of the job Congress is doing, “24%ers” it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t get the concept and he’s not going to get it.

Bush’s surge is truly a failure. The surge is part of a failed policy. Bush has refused to change this policy. It is time for him to listen to the American people because he is accountable to us.
Now take your talking points back to where ever the hell you came from. You are a lying, bottom dwelling, knuckle dragging, troglodyte, moron.
The lard assed, drug addled, gas bag on radio is lying to you again…or maybe it was FAUXNOIZ that gave you the wrong information. You guys are losers, dumbassed, bottom dwelling, knuckle dragging, troglodytes who are following the drunk over the cliff. The GOP is so over.
While it pleases me that the polls say that more and more people in our country are waking up to what a majority of us progressives have known long ago, it hasn’t resulted in removing our troops from harm’s way out of the civil war in Iraq.
Progressives knew (BEFORE the current corrupt, crooked president lied to get Congress to approve his pre-2001 plan to invade and destroy Iraq in order to establish interminable global oil conglomerate presence in Iraq, backed up by U.S. military presence) what polls say the majority of American voters now know: IT IS TIME TO REMOVE OUR TROOPS FROM HARM’S WAY OUT OF THE CIVIL WAR IN IRAQ!
Since the current corrupt, crooked president has violated the Constitution to prevent the removal of our troops, IT IS TIME TO IMPEACH HIM AND HIS PRESIDENT-IN-CHARGE-OF-VICE, SiCKO DiCKO.

I am sure the Wicked With of the West would also get very low numbers, even lower than Pres Bush’s, should a survey be conducted today.
But that would also be irrelevant and a distraction. Not to mention that taking solace at the fact that you were able to find someone in the world with equal or worse approval rating as your Dear (mis)Leader’s would be comical if it wasn’t so sad.
64 percent isn’t a very large majority, folks. Honestly, I thought it would be higher than that, considering the pre-occupation with bad new coming from Iraq, while good news an success is ignored. And what does the American publlic know about war? It a bad thing. Yes, it is. However, the average American citizen is no military strategist, and honestly cannot make an educated statement concerning the Iraq war, nor any war, for that matter.
For most, they only know what the last talking head on the television news told them.
This poll, like most, is meaningless.
And all this ridiculous talk about impeachment over and over. Wasting good air, folks. Your “progressive” heroes Reid, Pelosi, et. al. have all said impeachment is off the table. There will be no impeachment.
Progressives knew, BEFORE the invasion of Iraq, what polls say the majority of American voters now know: IT IS TIME TO REMOVE OUR TROOPS FROM HARM’S WAY OUT OF THE CIVIL WAR IN IRAQ!

I don’t know, are you asking yourself questions now?
July 14th, 2007 at 8:44 pmYour claim is not so much dishonest- I do believe you honestly are this misinformed.
I guess they work for W most the time, but we’re brighter here.

michael just can’t get it through his head that the number he constantkly throws out there to try to distract from the President’s dismal poll nmber is a fake.

Comment by The Republic of Stupidity — July 14, 2007 @ 9:33 pm
I hate to disagree with you RoS, but thats just not correct.
Withdrawing, is NOT surrendering.
Look the word up in the dictionary.
Surrender, as it pertains to war, means laying down your arms and turning your soldiers over as prisoners of war.
Withdrawing from an engagment is NOT surrender. Period.
Don’t add credence to their bullsh$t right wing talking point.
July 14th, 2007 at 10:27 pmSorry for the formatting error. TP is acting weird lately.
Anyway I’m sure you get my point.
Surrender is what the right wing wants to do with our hard won liberties.
Withdrawing from the battlefield, with our armies intact, fully armed and carrying our banner, is NOT surrender.
July 14th, 2007 at 10:29 pmThe right wing it seems has embraced purposeful deceit as their standard operational tactic, and they are brazen in their open and purposeful lying now.
Like Michelle, calling 26 percent 14 percent when she knows thats not correct, to labeling the wisdom to terminate a failed occupation “surrendering”, the right wing is left with nothing but lies.
Because the truth just hurts too much.
July 14th, 2007 at 10:36 pmIn WW1, there was a famous story, of a German ace, who had a british pilot, who’s guns had jammed, in his sights.

And Bush is still down in the 20’s.
But whats really funny, is you think 30 percent would be something to brag about.
:D
July 14th, 2007 at 11:51 pmWhy do people treat poll percentages as FACT when they are no more accurate than throwing a dart blindfolded at a grid with 100 squares?

Looks like we need more tax cuts for the rich.

cherry picking is used metaphorically to indicate the act of pointing at individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related cases or data that may contradict that position.
If a two day old article references a poll that does not conform to the polls taken in the same time frame around it, I’d call that cherry picking.

I don’t know if there’s a few circuits missing upstairs or if it’s a case of, as Upton Sinclair said, someone whose salary (or self-esteem) depends on his NOT getting it.
On another subject, I note that michael has disappeared. And what are the odds? Shortly afterwards, He’s12 reported for duty.

Wrong, you a$$hole racist and troop-hater.
A “28%er” refers to someone who STILL SUPPORTS THE PRESIDENT. Get it?
If we are part of the group that DISAPPROVES of the job Congress is doing then we’re not “24%ers” because that number refers to those WHO SUPPORT CONGRESS. Get it?
Goddamn are you stupid, aside from being a cheap pr*ck willing to namejack a dead soldier to smear his comrade.

July 15th, 2007 at 1:21 amThe Surge is only 2 weeks old. Give it time.
July 15th, 2007 at 1:42 amWhile it pleases me that the polls say that more and more people in our country are waking up to what a majority of us progressives have known long ago, it hasn’t resulted in removing our troops from harm’s way out of the civil war in Iraq.

July 15th, 2007 at 2:38 pmDemocratic Governor Granholm has a 66% negative rating
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19292649/
In the survey of 600 likely voters conducted June 10 through Wednesday, 66 percent gave the Democratic governor a negative job rating.
The new Democrats!
July 15th, 2007 at 10:29 pmm12,
I am sure the Wicked With of the West would also get very low numbers, even lower than Pres Bush’s, should a survey be conducted today.
But that would also be irrelevant and a distraction. Not to mention that taking solace at the fact that you were able to find someone in the world with equal or worse approval rating as your Dear (mis)Leader’s would be comical if it wasn’t so sad.
July 16th, 2007 at 1:01 amBush: the failurer guy?
July 16th, 2007 at 8:04 am64 percent isn’t a very large majority, folks.
