Bush intelligence oversight board silent for 5 1/2 yrs.
“An independent oversight board created to identify intelligence abuses after the CIA scandals of the 1970s did not send any reports to the attorney general of legal violations during the first 5 1/2 years of the Bush administration’s counterterrorism effort,” and was vacant for the first two years of the administration. “Although the FBI told the board of a few hundred legal or rules violations by its agents after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the board did not identify which of them were indeed legal violations.”

Though beaten down by all the neglect and corruption, I have rallied enough to write to Rep. Nancy Pelosi to request she view the Bill Moyers’ Journal panel discussion of the Constitution and impeachment (Bruce Fein and John Nichols were excellent). And I wrote to Sen. Lugar after seeing him and Sen. Warner on This Week with G. Stephanopolus telling Lugar that his position for Iraq is unclear but decidedly political – Republican, not surprising. Basically what Bush wants, Bush gets as the Decider -in-Chief. They don’t factor in that this Decider got us into this mess and does not have the capacity, discretion or experience to get us out.

I’ve never been one and as a scientist myself depend on critical analysis of accurate data upon which to base my personal conclusions. This is why we cannot discover how we got into this mess without knowledge of the truthful details. And, if we cannot discover the genesis of the disaster, how can we avert it in the future or make necessary corrections to fix what’s occurred?

I guess this also explains the persecution of Bill Clinton for putting a chink in the armor of Reagan/Bush. After all, if he hadn’t been running defense his whole presidency or if more Democrats were in congress some of the crimes of Bush Sr. might have been brought to light.
That in addition to the fact that Daddy obviously holds grudges and had hardons agains Clinton for beating him and Sadam Hussein explains a lot of the crap we’re wading though now.

Time marches on. I witnessed the construction of the first tape recorder. The engineers poured a slurry of iron oxide onto three sheets of typing paper and demagnetized the sheets by running them through an Iron-Rite between parchment and waxed paper – lubricating the iron oxide side in the process. They then cut the result into quarter inch strips with copper tools and spliced them together with a standard film splicer. The tape heads were made from laminated Gillette Blue Blades using mica as a spacer – a Bakelite form was used as a ‘clamp’. The heads were then machined and wrapped using standard transformer manufacturing techniques. Once there, they used information from German wire recording patents to build the electronic structure around it. Along the way, they developed the capstan movement that survives to this day in VHS recorders. RCA bought their patents in 1945. Of course, all that is slipping into obsolescence as optical technology comes to the forefront. Time marches on…

I think this may be more of a “slam-dunk” possibility for impeachment than trying to get the Republican fools in congress to go for the lying rationale.
