July 16th, 2007 at 4:42 pm“If you live in California” which is a rather large landmass, would be more accurate if it read “if you live in San Fran or LA.”
I live in the true northern part of this state, five hours north of San Fran, and trust me, that aint no Sunday drive.
July 16th, 2007 at 4:42 pmWhat, no screening in Cheyenne?
July 16th, 2007 at 4:42 pmA fake is one who pretends to be patriotic, then hijacks the name of a dead Soldier.

Terrified you might actually learn something?
July 16th, 2007 at 4:58 pmMr. Effluent, sir?
Well hey, what’s the point of being nice to you?
I mean, it must really suck to BE you…
Day after day you have to tediously respond to each and every poster with a lackluster, droning insult or half-assed objection.
No creativity is possible, as your task is to engage nearly every thread and slum it up with your favorite warty, lumpy little friends.
You have no time in your working day to write anything which has the least little shred of thought and composure.
You seek merely to annoy and occupy space and draw attention away from the obvious truths which are contained in the news we see published here.
Get a life.
Sir.
(P.S. I missed you too…….)
July 16th, 2007 at 5:03 pmi have a show that night so mebe we can squeeze it in beforehand
July 16th, 2007 at 5:32 pmHow very sad…
July 16th, 2007 at 5:32 pmMr. President: If you’re not with us, you’re against us. – - Or the third choice, the “best” of both worlds: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
July 16th, 2007 at 5:59 pmI have seen the film, and it is anything but left wing. Charles Ferguson, the filmmaker, is from the competence wing. He is a successful entrepeneur (his startup made front page that Microsoft bought up) and he has been a left of center policy wonk at the Council on Foreign Relations and Brookings. The film does not take political sides but rather goes after what really happened, with Bush appointees providing some of the harshest criticism or alternatively being given enough rope to hang themselves. Ferguson himself did the interviews and at great personal risk went to Iraq outside the green zone. He is not a POV guy and even had some sympathy for the war before it began. He has a low tolerance for fuckups, though.
Do see it-the timing could not have been more appropriate in view of the surge timelines.
July 16th, 2007 at 6:02 pmThis is not from the left wing, this movie is from the competence wing. Charles Ferguson, the director, is an entrepeneur (if you have used Front Page, that came from the company he sold to Microsoft) and a left of center policy wonk from the Council on Foreign Relations and Brookings. He had some sympathy for the war, as far as I have heard, when it began, but was taken aback by the utter incompetence in its execution. The primary players in the movie are (besides Ferguson, who conducted all the interviews) people appointed by or brought in by appointees of the Bush administration, and they are either themselves disgusted at what took place or given enough rope by Ferguson to hang themselves.
I would note also that Ferguson went to Iraq himself at considerable personal risk to film what was taking place on the ground and to talk with Iraquis and US personnel.
The timing could not be better. This is not a POV movie like a Michael Moore piece (who I admire greatly)-it is a passionate critique by a solid member of the reality based community and I agree with you that all should see it.
July 16th, 2007 at 6:34 pmMr. President is friggin hillarious…..
People arent seeing the humor in these statements. Thats too bad. Lighten up folks….
Its not the President’s fault that the entire United States is completely retarded…
This movie is going to be great…..Maybe Blitzer can try and lambast the Director of this movie too and get caught with his pants down.

My prediction would be that Ferguson would have him for lunch. Go to see the trailer-it is the insiders who are dishing here, and it is just not pretty.
July 16th, 2007 at 7:17 pmI saw this film last week in Seattle. It is a shocking retelling of exactly how we botched the rebuilding of Iraq. It really comes down to three unbelievably bone-headed decision that Bremer made one week onto the job at CPA.
Given what I saw in the film, I don’t see any way for us to improve the situation in Iraq at this point. Especially not with the current administration’s demonstrated level of competence.
July 16th, 2007 at 7:24 pmThe US recklessly allowed the USSR to descend into chaos too.
Maybe the US thinks that letting people fight it out eventually leads to a powerful democracy like America.
So then should America leave Iraq?
July 16th, 2007 at 8:41 pmTP toadies want to have it both ways. First its not a civil war, the violence will end when we leave. Then it is a civil war and its all Bush’s fault.
Well which is it toadies?
July 16th, 2007 at 9:08 pmWell which is it toadies?

What ever makes the USA look bad and the enemy look good.
While I agree that Iraq is a mess, there has not been a bad effect on the stock market. In fact the market averages are higher than ever. Plus it has been relatively easy to make money since the war started- just invest in companies like Haliburton and anything with the word oil or energy attached to it. Therefore I am not sure I want to see any “End In Sight”. True we are getting a few soldiers killed and lots more Iraquis and spending like crazy, but I am making some bucks off of it , so I don’t care. Being 60 years old I won’t have to be around to live with the long term consequences. Since many people did not learn from Vietnam and decided to repeat the same mistake in Iraq, I don’t care anymore. I favor a policy which will make me money in the short run. Keep up the good work Mr. President. Earl in chicago is behind you all the way good buddy.
July 20th, 2007 at 12:07 pmI have just watched a “pre-release” copy of this film in its entirety. Put this one on your MUST SEE list. It is not in any way “Left wing” propaganda or anything like that. It is just a presentation of the facts and contradictions that this administration have been doing for the last 6 years.
