Stocked full of “administration cronies,” the Pentagon’s public affairs division under assistant secretary of defense for public affairs Dorrance Smith, has set up a rapid-response project that “seeks to bypass the traditional media and work directly with talk radio and bloggers, mostly those with a heavily conservative tilt.” Once known as the “Surrogates Operation,” the project also “provides talking points and briefings to retired military officials who now support the administration in appearances as media pundits.”
Damn Liberal Media!!!!

Way to go Pelosi.

July 16th, 2007 at 6:02 pmWhy are taxpayers dollars being spent to circumvent the media to which most listen in order to subsidize, via preferred access, media that only a fraction of them listen to or consider remotely credible.
Answer: to prop up a failed president and a failing fantasy that he understands what success is possible or how to get there. This president will spend hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of lives to cover his own backside.
July 16th, 2007 at 6:07 pmThey are little kids with their fingers in their ears dependng on their information controllers to tell them what to think.

Or, as an alternative… An Outline of the “Fire the Grid” Story
Shelley Yates has shared her near-death experience with several East Coast and Midwest Friends of IANDS chapters. Highlights of her story are that she began hearing a voice while she was drowning with her 4-year-old son in 2002. The voice told her that she and her son would be rescued and that they would recover. Her son was under the water for 30 minutes before being rescued. The doctors at the hospital said that he was brain-dead, and recommended that he be removed from life-support. The voice told Shelley that he could be brought back to health if people would place their hands on him and share the energy of their auras. So Shelley called everyone to help. After 72 hours her son awoke and recognized his mother. He is a healthy and exceptional boy today.
Then the voice said that Earth needs to be brought back to health,
and that what happened with her son with a small group of people
could happen to Earth with a large group. Shelley was told to invite
people around the world to share their energy with Earth from 7:11 – 8:11 Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 17, 2007. That hour will be the peak of a day-long energy flow from the center of our galaxy.
Those who participate by praying, meditating, or just doing what they love to do with gratitude, will be energized. The Earth will light
up. That’s why the project is called Fire the Grid. Each one of us
is a hexagon in the Grid. This will begin a new era in human history.
The message is that the one hour of focused sharing of energy with
intention will change the history of Earth. This is the first time
that such a great number of the human family will be joining together mentally and spiritually to create a harmonious future. Millions of people are already involved. Currently Shelley’s website has 1.5 million hits a month, and hundreds of groups have formed around the world.

the axis of evil is BUSH.
July 16th, 2007 at 6:23 pmIMPEACH Gonzales NOW then work your way up the chain of command. They should all be in prison. Now they claim EP for not releasing the Tillman docs, the DOJ has refused to send a witness to testify before the Senate about the Voting Division, they are ALL acting criminally, obstructing investigation and justice! Their national voting scam will be exposed. Their crimes trying to monkeywrench prosecutions is only part of the equation, first they took over the DOJ, then acted with impunity, put these partisan plants in place and you better believe it is a threat to the next election. We MUST get to the bottom of this, we must have ALL the docs requested from WH, DOJ and RNC. We have to take to the streets in protest so something is DONE! People are standing by waiting! Geez, this guy is out of control!

July 16th, 2007 at 7:11 pmIs Flaco finally banned?
Someone pinch me!
:)
(P.S. Pippi– you’re next)
July 16th, 2007 at 7:30 pmMaybe the Pentagon might even to be able to get a few of those chickensh*t Repub bloggers to enlist and go fight in their beautiful war.
July 16th, 2007 at 7:31 pmIf Flaco was banned, Mr President wouldn’t still be posting.
Oh yeah, TP just temorarily blocks a screen name. Nothing as deep as banning IPs.
The troll goes on.
July 16th, 2007 at 7:40 pmIsn’t it illegal to use taxpayer money for this? We shouldn’t have to pay for partisan propoganda to be inflicted on us by the military.
July 16th, 2007 at 7:50 pmAnother lame attempt by the republicans to get with the times.
They suck at teh intrarwebs- look at the shitty quality of Drudge, Malkin, Coulter, Fox News, etc’s pages.
For them the web is just a feature of their message, a toy, another form of print media. What a waste of taxpayer money.
July 16th, 2007 at 8:02 pm“… the project also ‘provides talking points.’”

Legal, illegal …
It’s just a couple of letters.
July 16th, 2007 at 9:24 pmI was just thinking about this: GOP and DoD like to repeat bad thinking with more bloggers.
The DNC likes to have many inputs, and are more likely to have a robust solution. GOP’s approach isn’t credible: Repeating more flawed messages doesn’t solve the problem, but gets more people to believe the non-sense.
DNC is more likely to adjust; GOP is more likely to stick with what is flawed.
July 16th, 2007 at 9:38 pmThe liberal media is at it again.
July 16th, 2007 at 9:41 pmThe plan is simple:
Reality is ugly. Reject it and substitute it with wishful thinking. The Bush administration tried doing just that by stoking all branches of the government with cronies; its sycophants helped along by hiring blow-hard and adulators to fill the public airwaves with praises to this sorry excuse for an administration.
But reality is a very stubborn thing, so now they need to summon even more help (from bloggers this time) to put even more lipstick on the pig.
Sheer stupidity is doing the same thing expecting different results. Too bad this administration hasn’t figured out that much yet.
July 16th, 2007 at 9:54 pmThey are leaning to the right.
July 16th, 2007 at 10:05 pmIsn’t that against the law?
Just a question!
Where will the money come from? Meanwhile, stop by this nice young man’s site and inquire if he’s on the gravy train yet. You’ll feel real welcome.

One final time, heh. When I previously e-mailed TP about the problems with trolls, or otherwise disruptive posters, TP told me, point blank, that they have been trying to get rid of the problem posters, going so far as to BAN IPs. However, the problem posters would immediately switch IPs. IP bannings were attempted, and accomplished ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Whatsoever.
TP cannot successfully ban the trolls without some sort of registration that requires e-mail confirmation, and most likely some secondary defense such as gravatars or a similar tool.
IP bans mean nothing to this particular “group” of troll.
July 17th, 2007 at 2:39 amThe Pentagram has been doing this for years, with Clod Central……otherwise known as FreeRepublic.

I think the knotheads, Republicans, crapheads, fascists, Neo-Cons, Dolts, perverts, and drug addicts that are known as trolls make comedic relief.
These are all low level sycophants, that probably sit naked behind their terminals with pictures of Jeff Gannon and Ann Coulter.
The more dangerous and effective people are infiltrating organizations like the Democratic Party, Greenpeace, the record industry, and so on.

The Pentagon is very good at wasting time and the people’s money. Conservative blogs are a losing venue to sell a losing strategery that Bush himself is engineering. Generals, shmenerals. Commander of Nothing George W. Bush is not listening to anything , or even military truthtellers: only Messianic voices in his head.
July 17th, 2007 at 10:19 amFor the record, this isn’t new — they’ve been giving info to right wing blogs for years.
I work with an Army Colonel (a public affairs office who was recently called back for his second tour of PR duty) who’s been doing this since the war began. He’s the one that fed LGF the info on the Reuters photos and Rather documents.
To say we don’t get along when he’s in the office would be an understatement …
July 17th, 2007 at 10:45 amInteresting. From what I have seen, no one has bothered to read the transcript of the interview. Good thing, too, since no one wanted to address any of the statements in it. I haven’t seen a single fact introduced in any of these posts. If it IS propaganda, deliver a reasoned response. BTW propaganda is not fascism when there is a free press. Both sides indulge in it quite regularly.
July 23rd, 2007 at 11:08 amIts sad to see have so many liberal left wing loons here have any idea of what they speak.
Dod has reached out to all bloggers including a large contingency of liberal bloggers who appear to be to ignorant, or to afraid, to participate in any of these sessions. Better to sit behind your laptops whacking off to photos of Juan Cole, then to use your pathetic brains to engage in conversation and the opportunity to voice your deep intellectual insights at any of these meetings.
Truth is you’d rather bury your head in the sand, while bitching, lying, moaning, groaning, and continuously twisting the truth to suit your bogus tired agenda.
This crap about the military only reaching out to right wing bloggers is yet another example of t he desperate state of liberals/dems, who perpetuate memes without one iota of truth- while screaming at the top of their lungs about lies being perpetuated by everyone else.
