Sen. Stevens’s popularity near ‘all-time low.’»

Under 45 percent of Anchorage voters have a “positive view” of Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK), who is currently embroiled in an FBI corruption investigation. The ratings in the new poll are a “significant change” for Stevens, whose “positive rating between September 2005 and April 2007 ranged between 58 percent and 63 percent.”

  1. Mark @ News Corpse Says:

How does a guy “embroiled in an FBI corruption investigation” still have 45% supporting him?

  2. Crump's Brother Says:

The trolls will tell us that this doesn’t matter because Congress’ approval raitng is lower.

Or they will say that it’s Clinton’s fault!

  3. Godzilla Says:

Guess you’ve been flushed “down the tubes”

  4. unbelievable Says:

    That high huh?

I still don’t get how he ever got elected in the firstplace…

  5. Namtillaku Says:

He’s popular? How about a corruption rating, or a hate rating or something?

  6. toasterhead Says:

Well of course his rating is low in Anchoradge. But did they ask the people in Nowhere? You know, the ones who got that bridge to their town? I bet they like ol’ Ted. This poll is biased!

  7. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

Well, shucks… I’d post a snotty comment, but I don’t need to. You guys are doing a great job as it it. Carry on!

  8. Abby Says:

Goes to show, the percent of stupid Americans may have gone down from what it used to be, but has not gone down by all that much.

But who did not know that? Over a quarter of the American population still loves Bush. Make sense of that one if you can.

  9. Mr. President Says:

Who cares? Congress is way worse than this!

  10. Badmoodman Says:

Even in Alaska most snowjobs melt. So will this one.

  11. RUCerious Says:

Is it at all possible that the folks in AK will wake up and NOT elect a Repukelicking in Nov 08?

Give that man a cookie…unless this is just someone namejacking Mr. Pee, but oh well, he would still say something like this, so give Crump’s Brother a cookie anyway!

Well, sh*t, PiPpy Trollstockings, you should have read some of the other posts first. You walked right into that one a** first.

    Indeed I was, CT.

More specifically, the Democrat Majority Congress.

Ahh, F*ck it… let’s go back to those questions you were too chickensh*t to answer. I was only asking you to clarify your own words, PiPpy.

  20. chadwick Says:

Horsepucky. Don’t give me ONE city’s, regardless it being the biggest, one city’s poll rating. It’s axiomatic that the farther you move from large population bases, the “redder” the political views.

Just ask Kansas. Or Utah. Or Idaho.

Don’t be like the Right. Don’t skew the facts. Stick to the TRUTH.

  21. Joe Sixpack Says:

I you TP’s could see all the pork this guy has raked in for the Alaskan citizens over the past several decades, you wouldn’t have to ask why he still has so much support.

“Uncle Ted” as he is affectionately known up there, is the super-king of pork and earmarks. And a Repugnican at that. Remember the “Bidge to Nowhere?” Hell, Anchorage even named their airport after him!

Here is one of Uncle Ted’s quotes: “I am guilty of asking the Senate for pork and proud of the Senate for giving it to me.”

Of course, he is Pro-Life, so he can be forgiven for his shortcomings.

  22. willyloman Says:

Why don’t you ask him about taking the names of Fallen Soldiers while your at it.

People can go have a look at the “GOP wants a new war authorization thread” and have a look at the “support the troops” republican troll, if they like.

I’m sure he’s proud of his work there.

    Check out line 176 where he signs as Mr. President and says;

“I’m back. I haven’t posted for HOURS! Who jacked my name?”

    It’s very convincing.

    Greetings, Mr. President.

“The Epitome of Stupidity” is quite the challenge. WATCH OUT. PLEASE.

  24. willyloman Says:

What do you think about trolls jacking the names of fallen Soldiers CT_V1?

You don’t support that, do you?

  25. Crump's Brother Says:

    I CALLED IT!!!

    Trolls are too easy!!

  26. Mr. President Says:

    CT_V1,

Oh, I know… wait did you say The Epitome of Stupidity was the challenge, or that he was mentally challenged? I agree with the latter.

When you’re right you’re right, the Congress is worse.

You can’t argue with the facts.

  28. willyloman Says:

    That’s right Mr. President.

Troll tactic #11. if #10 “straw man” fails….ignore and wait it out.

Refer to the Novak thread. Please, refer to other posts of discussion where questions identical to yours have been explained as thoroughly as possible by Mr. President and I. Please stop repeating your questions, they are based on speculation and nothing more.

  30. willyloman Says:

Anybody who speaks to these peices of shit after what they did is just the same as they are.

Don’t feed them, respond to them, or they will do the same thing again.

They posted as this Soldier twice. I saw and others did.

They are ignorant cowards, with no respect.

I ask you all not to respond to them in any way.

    Comment by Mr. President — July 16, 2007 @ 1:43 pm

If this President was so hated, THEN AT NO TIME will he have a higher approval rating than that of congress. Yet, somehow, the lefties actually believe that Congress having lower approval ratings than our supposedly-hated president “proves their point.”

It is clear the President is operating at a far superior level than the Democrat Majority Congress. This will surely hurt the Dems next election.

And delusional, too! never going to naswer those simple questins, areyou? YOU WON”T EVEN DEFEND YOUR OWN WORDS, YOU SMARMY LITTLE COWARD!

  37. spit take Says:

    I’m with willyloman.

Acknowledging and responding to these two trolls in particular is a huge mistake.

We know what they are going to say, as Crump’s Brother demonstrated, and we know that they will not contribute in any way to the conversation, other than to serve as sources of simplistic conflict.

We also know what they did to the memory of a fallen soldier and the spirit of a current one.

They are beneath contempt. Long-time posters have no reason to engage them, in my opinion.

I couldn’t make it clearer that you need to put up or shut up. I’m telling you, you have no right to falsely accuse anybody in here. Contact TP directly for your concerns. I’m not sure how many times I have to make myself clear to you slow-pokes.

  39. Thad Says:

An approval rating is not something you just dump something on. It’s not a big truck. It’s a series of tubes. And if you don’t understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it’s going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

Go ahead and ask your damn question already!

  41. Elliott Says:

I’m going to attribute that 45% to the seasonal lack of darkness. Sleep deprivation clearly messes with your judgment. On that note, Mr. P, how ’bout some Ambien?

  42. AlaskaMike Says:

For the folks who think that Anchorage is “just one city” in Alaska, it might be helpful to know that about half the state lives in Anchorage. And assuming that in Alaska the rural areas are “redder” can get you into trouble. Some of the farthest districts are reliably Democratic. So a poll showing support for Stevens declining in Anchorage is probably pretty accurate for the rest of the state as well.
