New deputy attorney general named.

Craig S. Morford, currently the U.S. attorney in Nashville, has been named to replace Paul McNulty as acting Deputy Attorney General. Morford is “best known for his case against former Rep. James Traficant, an Ohio Democrat convicted in 2002 of accepting bribes and gifts from businessmen in exchange for intervening with government agencies.”

Sounds like a good, strong deputy attorney.

    Permanent or acting?

bushco Justice Department: Fighting to take away our rights here, so we don’t have to take them away over there.

  4. dlet says:

Whatever they do at the AGs office is going to be done for the wrong reasons. I don’t care who they put in that position. All faith in that Department is gone. With Gonzo still there who cares what else goes on?

    No.

Traficant had the best wig ever

  8. Buck Fush says:

You just can’t trust anything anymore that this criminal administration does anymore – or well, really from the beginning actually.
You have to question everything they do, they have proven too many times that they have criminal intent.
And what in the world are they still doing in office anyway?

    Not really — unless you’re a comedian. :D

Why bother responding if you’ll say nothing?

There is a difference. He’s an acting appointee, so that avoids a congressional hissy fit for the remainder of this President’s term.

Morford must be doing something that pleases the administration. He was a replacement for one of the fired U.S. Attorneys (Tennessee) and has now gotten himself a promotion. With the Bushies doing so much for his career, I’m assuming he’ll be loyal no matter what.

I’m not holding my breath for any change.

    That’s a question I ask myself every time I see a post from C**T_V1.

Or at least, I used to, until I realized its posts were invariably a waste of time.

This isn’t over until every Republican official is put under house arrest.

President Clinton should make this her first priority when she takes office in 2008.

  29. Roger_Roger says:

I love how you all call them a criminal administration, yet your Dem leaders seem perfectly happy to work with them. Does that make Pelosi a criminal as well?

  30. Buck Fush says:

Roger Dodger -Is she a criminal, well just maybe, because she has not done what the constitution calls for and IMPEACHED the both of them, but she would need some repukes to follow the law also, and we all know how the right likes following the law, now don’t we.

I wonder who monkey-boy decided today to be “incompetent.”

It’s only a matter of time before he gets around to calling even Nance incompetent.

AMERICA IS INCOMPETENT FOR HARRY’S NEEDS!!!!!

  33. DemTN says:

Morford is actually fantastic. So good, in fact, that I’m shocked they picked him. I can only assume that the internal DOJ folks were about to riot. Check the coverage of the US Atty mess: Morford was one of the USAs who was upset. He’s a great career, non-political guy. Absolute breath of fresh air. Will be interesting to see how he fights the internal battes.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel for talking points, ain’t ya, R2? Careful ya don’t get it under your fingernails. That stuff is nasty.

    RUCerious #42 –

I almost posted this link when I found it, but I’m not sure how credible it is. It’s obviously written by somebody with a real ax to grind. Can you (or anyone) find any corroborating information to support the accusations? If they’re true, then Morford is bad news. If not, let’s cut him some slack until he really does something worthy of scorn (which, if he is truly a Bush toady, won’t take long).

  38. Powkat says:

Ain’t gonna happen. Dems won’t vote until the DOJ coughs up the documents. DOJ won’t cough up the documents because it would be the end of Rove.

Being forced out of office has caused people to tell the truth in the past, maybe this time being forced to stay IN the office will unseal McNulty’s lips.

  39. Buck Fush says:

Read your link there, RUCerious – wow, this scum bag cannot be in office, much less in the legal system at all. How in the world does he still have a license?

  40. Powkat says:

Wow, when I actually bother to read what troll has to say I realize what a racist, sexist throwback it is. I mean, I should have known – it is a troll, after all – and trolls do live in the muck.

  41. RUCerious says:

Buck & Molly ~ I don’t have any corroboration, but there are several other links about his actions in Tenn, ect. Yeah, when the author starts talking about his neighbor… Makes ya wonder. Still, there’s plenty of question about this guy if ANY of the author’s claims are valid…

  42. GSD says:

Most trolls are racist, sexist bigots. They believe the world revolves around white, Christian males and they are the only ones deserving of mercy, money and privilege.

  43. missmolly says:

I agree — the accusations are dire enough that they warrant a little further research. I won’t dismiss them out of hand.

  44. J Lewd says:

Naming a new Deputy Attorney General in this administration is sort of like placing a new nut on an old bolt: aside from its newness, there’s no difference between the old and new nut.

  45. The Oracle says:

Another “loyal Busie” appointee who will have no qualms at all in conducting vote caging operations for the “inherent contempt” Republican Party before the November 2008 elections, in an attempt to somehow stop the death spiral of the Republican Party. What “inherent contempt” for our democracy, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, our “rule of law,” will this Morford goon pull as a deputy to “inherent contempt” Alberto Gonzales? I guess we’ll see, and be horrified, at what “inherent contempt” schemes the “culture of corruption” Republican Party will pull next.
