A confidential list shows that Vice President Cheney’s energy task force met almost exclusively with energy industry groups and corporations. By the time the task force began its few meetings with environmental groups, “the initial draft of the task force was substantially complete and President Bush had been briefed on its progress.”
With evidence showing that abstinence programs have “no impacts on rates of sexual abstinence,” such education is increasingly being rejected nationwide. “Eleven state health departments rejected abstinence education this year, while legislatures in Colorado, Iowa and Washington passed laws that could kill, or at least wound, its presence in public schools.”
“The board of Dow Jones said late Tuesday it was ready to sign off” on Rupert Murdoch’s proposal to buy the company for $5 billion. “However, the key remains with the Bancroft family, whose three dozen members have been deeply divided over whether to sell to Murdoch.”
The National Intelligence Estimate released yesterday warned that Hezbollah could be “more likely to consider attacking the homeland” if it sees the United States as a threat to the group or to Iran. Slate’s Fred Kaplan says that “this amounts to a direct warning to the White House: Don’t attack Iran.”
Resentment toward American forces remains “fierce” as “Iraqis endure their fifth blazing summer without sufficient power.” The LA Times writes, “If anything is seen as symbolic of the United States’ failure to deliver on its promise that life would be better without Saddam Hussein, it is the lack of reliable electricity.”
“The Army is launching an education program to teach 1 million soldiers how to recognize symptoms of brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder, the two signature injuries of the Iraq war. The program aims to encourage troops to get treatment – and to help erase the stigma of doing so, Army officials said.”
The White House yesterday “played down the importance of President Bush’s proposal for a Mideast peace conference and said it was too early to say where or when it would take place.”
“Rapidly rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are driving noxious poison ivy and those annoying patches of dandelion to grow taller, lusher and more resilient, according to two new studies.”
Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) continues to maintain a “hold” on a bill that would cut down the lengthy wait time that plagues the Freedom of Information Act system. “Following easy passage by the House of Representatives and the Senate Judiciary Committee, however, the FOIA fix has been halted. Despite recent reports detailing delays and difficulties in getting government information, the Department of Justice has objected to the new legislation.”
And finally: While Senate staffers were busy yesterday rolling out cots for the chamber’s all-night Iraq debate, many senators said they didn’t plan on using them. Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), who “towers at 6-feet-7-inches tall,” said, “I don’t fit on a cot.” Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) admitted, “I’ve got a couch in my hideaway.” Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) lives just four blocks from the Capitol and planned on slipping home to catch a nap.
What did we miss? Let us know in the comments section.

Democratic candidate accepts invitation to face Clinton, Kucinich on MSNBC
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards renewed his call Tuesday for smaller, more substantive candidate forums, agreeing to MSNBC’s invitation to debate Sen. Hillary Clinton and Rep. Dennis Kucinich on live television.
Edwards and Sen. Hillary Clinton were captured on open microphones criticizing Kucinich, D-Ohio, by name after an NAACP candidates forum last week.
Edwards was recorded by several news organizations telling Clinton that “we should try to have a more serious … smaller group,†to which Clinton replied, “We’ve got to cut the number.â€
Edwards accepted host Chris Matthews’ challenge to face off with Clinton and Kucinich on “Hardball,†but only if the show would arrange similar small discussions that included the rest of the Democratic field. “Any way we can have a more serious discussion with smaller groups, I am happy to participate in,†he said.

July 18th, 2007 at 9:19 amFeingold Flip-Flops on Impeachment
By Dave Lindorff 7/07 from afterdowningstreet dot org
In a diary entry on Daily Kos, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), one of the most consistently progressive liberals in the Senate, surrendered to the Democratic Party Establishment, with an embarrassing string of lame and tired excuses for not standing for impeachment of the Bush/Cheney regime.
Feingold, who once took the lead in opposing Bush’s and Cheney’s abuses of power and their undermining of the Constitution with a censure motion filed in the Senate, wrote in the DailyKos diary that while he agreed that Bush and Cheney “may well have†committed “impeachable offenses,†he nonetheless did not support impeachment.
***Why the sudden change? Does Rove have “dirt” on him obtained through and (il)legal wiretap? Is he afraid of being the next Democrat to get anthrax? Does he fear his plane “mysteriously” falling from the sky as happens only to anti-war Senators?

This is truly sad. We bomb a country back to the stone ages and then we spend billions hiring people from our country and other countries, but not Iraq, to fix what we broke. But, a funny thing happened. It’s all still broken. What happened to those billions we paid to FOB’s (Friends of Bush) to fix what we broke? They got paid for doing either no work or shoddy work.
And, the neoCONS wonder why the Iraqi’s hate us. It’s not rocket science. Anyone with an IQ above 70 can figure it out.

That societies who touch babies a lot and respect teenage sexual desires are disinclined for violence – while the opposite is also true.
Between strollers and abstinence programs, we are assuring that the majority of these kids will become adults prone to violence. Appalling.

I have to say that I agree with Edwards. What they were doing could in no way be called a debate. It was nothing but 60 second sound bites. I do wonder at Chris Matthews hosting this, though. The American people WANT Impeachment.
July 18th, 2007 at 9:32 amThe use of the word Homeland, without mentioning its Nazi associations, would seem to be acknowledgement that America is an Empire with colonies.
The American Empire has always tried to cheat at the imperial game by not admitting that the countries it dominates and exploits belong to it. That’s permits them to not accept refugees or to meet certain humanitarian obligations. The British Empire was a very expensive proposition; just as war is more expensive than peace.
Corporatism is one way round this. By letting multi-national corporations grow to the size of nation states, the USA can allow them to act as the imperial overlords.
I say it’s time to bring democracy to corporations. Let the shareholder divide up dividends according to the number of shares owned, but at the AGM it should be One Shareholder/One Vote, just as it is in any democracy.
July 18th, 2007 at 9:32 am“Every conversation monitored under Bush’s warrantless domestic surveillance program is a missed opportunity to get someone who is talking with terrorists off the streets and behind bars.
Why? Because evidence obtained by Bush’s warrantless domestic spying program is probably not admissible in court. Convictions obtained with evidence from this program may be overturned.â€
STOP RIGHT THERE! THINK.
Clearly the Bush Administration knew that to be true. So what EVIDENCE do you have that Bush actually wants potential terrorists prosecuted? How many terrorists have been CONVICTED AND SENTENCED since 9/11?
Do the math folks. Think like a criminal. The clearest explanation is often right under your nose. False flag terrorism is a TACTIC of the Mossad and the CIA. The terrorists are merely doing the bidding of this administration and their surrogates. Any actual TRIAL with TV CAMERAS and EVIDENCE would blow their entire operation.
If they really want to arrest AND CONVICT terrorists, they would absolutely follow the letter of the law. They CHOSE not to. Coincidence? NOT!

Let’s start out with a recap of some highly disturbing events in this country, as reported by a mainstream newspaper on the United States in August of 2005:
http://www.timesherald.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15114089&BRD=1672&PAG=461&dept_id=33380&rfi=6
Now can you help me out with a plausible explanation for this:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article7545.htm
And this official DEA report:
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/deareportisraelispying.html
A counterintelligence investigation by the FBI concluded that at least two of them were in fact Mossad operatives, according to the former American official, who said he was regularly briefed on the investigation by two separate law enforcement officials.
“The assessment was that Urban Moving Systems was a front for the Mossad and operatives employed by it,” he said. “The conclusion of the FBI was that they were spying on local Arabs but that they could leave because they did not know anything about 9/11.”
However, he added, the bureau was “very irritated because it was a case of so-called unilateral espionage, meaning they didn’t know about it.”
Spokesmen for the FBI, the Justice Department and the Immigration and Naturalization Service refused to discuss the case. Israeli officials flatly dismissed the allegations as untrue.
However, the former American official said that after American authorities confronted Jerusalem on the issue at the end of last year, the Israeli government acknowledged the operation and apologized for not coordinating it with Washington.
The five men — Sivan and Paul Kurzberg, Oded Ellner, Omer Marmari and Yaron Shmuel — were arrested eight hours after the attacks by the Bergen County, N.J., police while driving in an Urban Moving Systems van.
‘A Scary Situation’ Steven Gordon, the attorney for the five Israeli detainees, acknowledged that his clients’ actions on Sept. 11 would easily have aroused suspicions. “You got a group of guys that are taking pictures, on top of a roof, of the World Trade Center. They’re speaking in a foreign language. They got two passports on ‘em. One’s got a wad of cash on him, and they got box cutters. Now that’s a scary situation.”
While many have denied these events occurred, note these Mainstream Media accounts:
Since their arrest, plenty of speculation has swirled about the case, and what the five men were doing that morning. Eventually, The Forward, a respected Jewish newspaper in New York, reported the FBI concluded that two of the men were Israeli intelligence operatives.
Vince Cannistraro, a former chief of operations for counterterrorism with the CIA who is now a consultant for ABCNEWS, said federal authorities’ interest in the case was heightened when some of the men’s names were found in a search of a national intelligence database.
Israeli Intelligence Connection?
According to Cannistraro, many people in the U.S. intelligence community believed that some of the men arrested were working for Israeli intelligence. Cannistraro said there was speculation as to whether Urban Moving had been “set up or exploited for the purpose of launching an intelligence operation against radical Islamists in the area, particularly in the New Jersey-New York area.”
According to ABC’s 20/20, when the van belonging to the cheering Israelis was stopped by the police, the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers:
“We are Israelis. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are your problem.”
July 18th, 2007 at 9:33 amUS official quoted in Carl Cameron’s Fox News report.
In fact, he said, the nature of the investigation changed after the names of two of the five Israelis showed up on a CIA-FBI database of foreign intelligence operatives, he said. At that point, he said, the bureau took control of the investigation and launched a Foreign Counterintelligence Investigation, or FCI.
FBI investigations into possible links to the September 11 attacks are usually carried by the bureau’s counterterrorism division, not its counterintelligence division.
“An FCI means not only that it was serious but also that it was handled at a very high level and very tightly,” the former official said. That view was echoed by several former FBI officials interviewed.
According to ABCNEWS sources, Israeli and U.S. government officials worked out a deal — and after 71 days, the five Israelis were taken out of jail, put on a plane, and deported back home.
The men all underwent at least two polygraph tests each, the lawyer added. He said one of the Israelis took the test seven times, a very unusual total according to several polygraph experts interviewed by the Forward. All failed their tests.

July 18th, 2007 at 9:39 amFBI probes espionage at Clinton white house
The FBI is probing an explosive foreign-espionage operation that could dwarf the other spy scandals plaguing the U.S. government
Michael Waller • Paul Rodriguez — Insight magazine
Monday May 29, 2000
Insight has learned that FBI counterintelligence is tracking a daring operation to spy on high-level U.S. officials by hacking into supposedly secure telephone networks. The espionage was facilitated, federal officials say, by lax telephone-security procedures at the White House, State Department and other high-level government offices and by a Justice Department unwillingness to seek an indictment against a suspect.
The espionage operation may have serious ramifications because the FBI has identified Israel as the culprit. It risks undermining U.S. public support for the Jewish state at a time Israel is seeking billions of tax dollars for the return of land to Syria. It certainly will add to perceptions that the Clinton-Gore administration is not serious about national security. Most important, it could further erode international confidence in the ability of the United States to keep secrets and effectively lead as the world’s only superpower.
`So what, it’s only Israel!’
There is a tendency in and out of government to minimize the impact of Israeli espionage against the United States because Israel is a friendly country. That overlooks the gravity of the espionage threat, says David Major, former director of counterintelligence programs at the National Security Council. “This `Don’t worry about allied spying, it’s okay’ attitude is harmful,†he warns. “The U.S. should expect that the rest of the world is bent on rooting out its national-security secrets and the secrets that could subject its leaders to blackmail.†Minimizing or excusing “friendly spying,†he argues, only discourages vigilance and encourages more attacks on U.S. national security. “I’m not outraged by nations that find it in their interests to collect intelligence but by our unwillingness to seriously pursue counterintelligence.â€
Major, now dean of the private Center for Counterintelligence and Security Studies, asks: “What price should Israel pay for this? My predictions are that there will be no impact whatsoever. Do we put our heads in the sand or do we take it as a wake-up call?â€
For any remaining COINCIDENCE THEORISTS:
Agency planned exercise on Sept. 11 built around a plane crashing into a building
Bizarre coincidence? U.S. intelligence agency was planning an exercise involving aircraft crashing into buildings on 09-11-2001
John J. Lumpkin — Associated Press
Wednesday September 11, 2002
Bizarre coincidence?: National Reconnaissance Office scheduled an exercise involving aircraft crashing into buildings on 09-11-2001
In what the government describes as a bizarre coincidence, one U.S. intelligence agency was planning an exercise last Sept. 11 in which an errant aircraft would crash into one of its buildings. But the cause wasn’t terrorism — it was to be a simulated accident.
“It was just an incredible coincidence that this happened to involve an aircraft crashing into our facility,†Haubold said. “As soon as the real world events began, we canceled the exercise.â€
Adding to the coincidence, American Airlines Flight 77 — the Boeing 767 that was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon — took off from Dulles at 8:10 a.m. on Sept. 11, 50 minutes before the exercise was to begin. It struck the Pentagon around 9:40 a.m., killing 64 aboard the plane and 125 on the ground.
The National Reconnaissance Office operates many of the nation’s spy satellites. It draws its personnel from the military and the CIA.
After the Sept. 11 attacks, most of the 3,000 people who work at agency headquarters were sent home, save for some essential personnel, Haubold said.
An announcement for an upcoming homeland security conference in Chicago first noted the exercise.
In a promotion for speaker John Fulton, a CIA officer assigned as chief of NRO’s strategic gaming division, the announcement says, “On the morning of September 11th 2001, Mr. Fulton and his team … were running a pre-planned simulation to explore the emergency response issues that would be created if a plane were to strike a building. Little did they know that the scenario would come true in a dramatic way that day.â€

July 18th, 2007 at 9:41 amDaschle: Congress Denied Bush War Powers in U.S.
By Barton Gellman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, December 23, 2005; Page A04
The Bush administration requested, and Congress rejected, war-making authority “in the United States†in negotiations over the joint resolution passed days after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, according to an opinion article by former Senate majority leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) in today’s Washington Post.
Daschle’s disclosure challenges a central legal argument offered by the White House in defense of the National Security Agency’s warrantless wiretapping of U.S. citizens and permanent residents. It suggests that Congress refused explicitly to grant authority that the Bush administration now asserts is implicit in the resolution.

Unbelievable:
Are you a coincidence theorist? What’s your THEORY?
Coincidences that seem to have led to a World War…
9/11 (9:00 am) – The CIA began an exercise to simulate a plane crashing into one of it’s buildings.
Ann Tatlock, a CEO at Fiduciary Trust located in the South WTC Tower, is on her way to an early morning charity event at the U.S. Strategic Command Center at Offutt AFB in Nebraska — where Bush later flew to for “safety” — hosted by billionaire Warren Buffett and is escorted by military officers into an officer’s lounge with a TV and watches the 2nd hijacked plane crash right into her offices.
WTC Owner Larry Silverstein is not in his office on the 88th floor of the North Tower because of a “doctors appointment.”
Donald Rumsfeld is in his office at the Pentagon talking about missile defense and the risk of terrorism and predicts there will be a terrorist attack two minutes before the first plane crashes into the WTC.
FAA memo says Flight 11 passenger was shot who happened to be a multi-millionaire elite Israeli military commando who understands Arabic and who happened to be sitting directly in front of one of the alleged hijackers.
On the morning of 9/11, Sen. Bob Graham (D-FL) and Rep. Porter Goss (R-FL) — the chairmen of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees — along with Sen. John Kyl (R-AZ) and some other members of the House Intelligence Committee are in a meeting at the Capital building with the director of Pakistani intelligence (ISI), Lt. Gen. Mahmud Ahmad, who authorized a $100,000 wire transfer to alleged lead 9/11 hijacker, Mohamed Atta.
The instant messaging service Odigo, says that two of its workers at their Israeli facility received messages two hours before the Twin Towers attack on September 11 predicting the attack would happen.
The WTC 7’s fire alarm system is placed on “TEST” mode for an eight hour period for “maintenance or other testing” in which any alarms that are received from the system are not shown on the operator’s display and are considered the result of the maintenance or testing and are ignored.
NORAD was in day two of a week long exercise called “Vigilant Guardian” in which some of it’s military participants thought the first reports of the hijackings later on in the day were “part of the exercise.”
A Pentagon rescuer mentions how “eerie” it was that the Pentagon’s MASCAL emergency plane crash plan that he had trained twice for was “very similar to what actually happened”.
Personnel from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center who helped the rescuing efforts at the Pentagon also say that it was “eerie” how an emergency situation they went through just two weeks before the attack helped prepare them for the Pentagon crash.
A group of young men were witnessed on top of a white van celebrating while they were filming themselves with the burning WTC in the background in which they were later arrested and identified as Israeli citizens — some later found to be Israeli spies — with one saying upon being arrested, “We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem.” They were found with large amounts of cash, a box cutter, multiple foreign passports, maps linking them to the blasts, and a bomb-sniffing dogs reacted as if detecting explosives in their van.
Within minutes of the explosion at the Pentagon, the FBI confiscates security videos that had captured the crash from a nearby gas station and hotel.
9/11 (10:31 am) – The commander of NORAD says he didn’t receive the presidential order to shoot down any of the hijacked planes until after Flight 93 crashed and the 9/11 Commission report confirms NORAD didn’t get this order until 28 minutes after the crash.
Video coverage shows Palestinians rejoicing over news of the 9/11 attacks, but later the celebrations were found out to have been staged.
Larry Silverstein, the WTC leaseholder, said he decided that the smartest thing to do to the WTC 7 was to “pull it” when a NYFD commander told him that he wasn’t sure they were going to be able to contain the fire in the building and said after they made the decision to “pull” the WTC 7, they “watched the building collapse.” The term “pull” was used to describe the demolition of the WTC 6 days later.
White House staff are given the powerful anthrax antibiotic Cipro, a full month before the first cases of anthrax were reported.
When Benjamin Netanyahu, former prime minister of Israel and elite special forces member for the IDF, was asked what the 9/11 attacks meant for relations between the United States and Israel, he replied, “It’s very good.”
President Bush’s cousin, Jim Pierce, escaped death from the WTC thanks to a “schedule change” the night before.
FEMA in NYC prior to 9-11 for Project TRIPOD terror drill, scheduled for 9-12
As of this writing, June 2, 2004, the transcript of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s testimony to the 9-11 Commission during the May 18-19, 2004 hearings in New York is the only transcript of that hearing omitted from the Commission website
(http://www.9-11commission.gov).
Did Rudy say something wrong?
“… the reason Pier 92 was selected as a command center was because on the next day, on September 12, Pier 92 was going to have a drill, it had hundreds of people here, from FEMA, from the Federal Government, from the State, from the State Emergency Management Office, and they were getting ready for a drill for biochemical attack. So that was gonna be the place they were going to have the drill. The equipment was already there, so we were able to establish a command center there, within three days, that was two and a half to three times bigger than the command center that we had lost at 7 World Trade Center. And it was from there that the rest of the search and rescue effort was completed.”

July 18th, 2007 at 9:57 amBut articles from 2000 and 2005 have nothing to do with today’s news. You can have your Israeli conspiracy theories all you want. Good for you. But post that stuff when appropriate instead of every day on every thread like you have been.
Comment by Wilco — July 18, 2007 @ 9:51 am
WHAT!?
Say that again.
Explain how it is that the events from 2000 – 2005 have have no impact on the news of today.
I know that you’d like to have everyone look forward rather than backward, and only consider each sound bite as an island unto itself, with no relationship to any other event, present or past.
My postings serve to provide CONTEXT and enable individuals to connect the dots in what ever order they choose to attempt to make some sense of these seemingly unrelated yet highly coincidental events.
I know that you’d like for me to keep my thoughts to a sentence or two, or to simply go away – but it would seem that these mad men are about to embark on a nuclear holocaust with unknown consequences, and frankly, I don’t really care how you feel about my posting style. There are far more important matters at stake – and not a minute to waste.

July 18th, 2007 at 10:00 amAmericans Are Not Automobiles!
18th of July 2007
by Jay Randal
The health insurance industry, and HMO providers, treat the American people like automobiles, since they tend to withhold medical care or even cancel coverage.
Americans can choose to not drive cars, instead using public transportation systems, but getting sick means death unless a serious illness/disease is cared for fast.
You can choose to not fix your automobile, if it breaks down or is damaged in collision, but failure to receive proper medical care can result in deteriorating health.
A population that has poor healthcare tends to be less productive at work, so affects the economy as well, so sickens the productivity at the workplace and profits.
A healthy citizenry invigorates the economy, so leads to innovations in creativity and scientific discoveries, plus a healthy populace tends to not seek revolution.
The US Congressional membership would be wise to dismantle decrepit profit-driven medical care system and replace it with single-payer care like in Canada.

I’m only criticizing ace in the specific. I don’t know one bit about this Israeli conspiracy and possibly unjustly dismiss it out of hand. If it is true, it doesn’t belong on every last thread on TP. It seems as of late, ace has a bad case of tunnel vision, is what I’m getting at.
Comment by Wilco — July 18, 2007 @ 9:55 am

Get it?
I’m sure I’ll be banned for revealing too much truth – in context – that doesn’t make it any less true.

They’ve been attacking me since I debunked the building portion of the theory (I’m an architect) with scientific facts based on education and experience.
I feel that telling people that buildings are virtually indestructable is dangerous. It’s not like the theory is harmless… And that’s what upsets me about it the most.

I wrote my Senators about the health care crisis. Saxby Chambliss, who will be on the chopping block in 2008, has begun to respond. His answer for our health care crisis? Limit the judical branch. Here is my response to his suggestion:
Senator Chambliss,
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I strongly disagree with your suggestion to create legislation that would limit our legal system. The Judicial Branch exists solely to make sure that justice exists – for all Americans. By limiting a person’s right to the courtroom in order to resolve his or her grievances, you are taking away his or her Constitutional Right for justice. And when you remove the means for peaceful resolution, you simply ensure a violent one. The legal system works just fine. It’s the medical system that is broken and needs your attention.
While in St.Petersburg, Russia in 1998, I read a fascinating article about revolution, and what are the tipping points in which people will revolt. The answer was simple – death. When people begin dying, revolution becomes their hallmark. And currently, we have the equilavent of (6) 9/11s every year in our country from a lack of functional health care for all.
The peaceful resolution is universal health care, not constricting the judicial system that has served us well for 231 years now.
Sincerely,
(me)

That is the ONLY link you would choose to post.
Here’s the truth about the Popular Mechanics Debunking story that the ADL and AIPAC rely upon:
But who is Benjamin Chertoff, the “senior researcher” at Popular Mechanics who is behind the article? American Free Press has learned that he is none other than a cousin of Michael Chertoff, the new Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
This means that Hearst paid Benjamin Chertoff to write an article supporting the seriously flawed explanation that is based on a practically non-existent investigation of the terror event that directly led to the creation of the massive national security department his “cousin” now heads. This is exactly the kind of “journalism” one would expect to find in a dictatorship like that of Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.
Because the manager of public relations for Popular Mechanics didn’t respond to repeated calls from American Free Press, I called Benjamin Chertoff, the magazine’s “senior researcher,” directly.
Chertoff said he was the “senior researcher” of the piece. When asked if he was related to Michael Chertoff, he said, “I don’t know.” Clearly uncomfortable about discussing the matter further, he told me that all questions about the article should be put to the publicist – the one who never answers the phone.
Benjamin’s mother in Pelham, New York, however, was more willing to talk. Asked if Benjamin was related to the new Secretary of Homeland Security, Judy said, “Yes, of course, he is a cousin.”

If they really, truly wanted to end the occupation in Iraq they’d do exactly as Senator Mike Gravel recommended. They’d draft a law making staying in Iraq a felony. Then they’d hold daily votes to end the occupation. It might take weeks or months to get the Republicans to capitulate. But eventually they’d have to. And the corporate media would have to cover it. As someone who works with teeenagers, I think you grossly misunderestimate them for the purposes of controlling them. They are far smarter than you think you are. Something they repeatedly demonstrate.

The Republicans are Pro-Muslim like the Democrats.
Muslims really control America if you care to discuss this.
It appears that there were plenty of people who had advance knowledge of what was going to happen on 911 – except for us citizens who were sacrificed for their war! It takes time for the scientists to rebut the official story, for eyewitnesses to come forth, and for enough circumstantial data (stock market, etc.) to be accrued before final conclusions can be ascertained – which is all occurring right now. Rudy was “hand picked” to be the “annointed one” – that’s patently clear now – except that they overestimated Rudy’s intelligence on pertinent issues. That, along with his lisp and extramarital affair with subsequent rejection by his own children doesn’t make for a moral candidate. Sorry, Rudy – wrong man for the job!
It’s all coming tumblin’ down …. Kucinich is definitely onto all of this and is proceeding forward with a reopening of the investigation…not a moment too soon.

How many times have you heard the President “catapaut the propaganda” by repeating the same lies over and over again.
Where is the counterforce on the other side?
The tactic obviously works, or it could never have come to pass that over 80% of US troops in Iraq believed that they were in Iraq to avenge the attacks of 9/11.
Repetition is a tactic.
The tactic works.
How do you propose we un-brainwash a population?
July 18th, 2007 at 10:42 am#7- I could only get to the 3rd page before disgust came over me. The lady on the beach saying “We need to march a few off to the gas chamber” is exactly how they feel..I have had discussions with people who have the same thought process and it never ceases to amaze me how Nazi like they are.. These people are absolutley crazy and we must do everything we can to ensure their true feeling are never acted upon… it happened once before and over 11 million people died…. NEVER AGAIN~!
July 18th, 2007 at 10:42 amI am Joker. What dead soldier did I post as?
I only post as Joker or Rodan which was my original moniker.

One of you trolls posted under the name of a Fallen Soldier who died in Iraq, mocking him and mocking Veterans who fought for this country.
It was either you or the troll who calls himself Mr. President.
Doing such, whoever it was, has brought a complete condemnation from the posters here.
Will that guilty troll also mock my post at #73 remembering General Wayne Downing, who was Commander of US Special Forces, who died yesterday?
July 18th, 2007 at 10:43 amI would not put it past that lowlife at all.

Hitler is smiling from his grave that his legacy of hatred of others lives on.
July 18th, 2007 at 10:43 amRU: Some of this stuff can’t be repeated enough! Most of us regulars here at TP have bookmarked and read Ace’s data; however, it is credible and he provides backup. He doesn’t just provide opinion without support documentation. I appreciate this greatly.
I think we all have to keep in mind that there are many “first timers” here at TP who have not seen or read some of Ace’s information and references. That’s why we have scroll bars I think. I’d much prefer to have to scroll past some of Ace’s posts which I’ve already read than to have to scroll past all of the troll blather, wouldn’t you?
Let’s give Ace some support. He’s been an valuable contributor to the truth of what’s occuring in this government and significant background data which provides necessary insight.
July 18th, 2007 at 10:44 amSpeaking of history repeating itself, when Hitler invaded the Soviet Union during operation Barbarossa, one of the things he expected was the soviet satellite states, such as the Ukrian to welcome the Nazi army as liberators. They did to a certain extent, but then fought back as it became clear the liberation simply made them part of the Nazi empire instead of the Soviet empire.
I guess the dear deciderâ„¢ doesn’t read history texts. I will put it up there with all the other stuff he doesn’t read, like CIA reports, newspapers, or books above a 5th grade level.
July 18th, 2007 at 10:44 amthe troll Mr. President made it a point to blame you, Joker, for the mocking of the Fallen Soldier.

The elite in our country have become too passive… If CNN wanted to make amends to its viewers it recently pissed off, it would hold a debate where the views get to ask questions. These people seem to keep forgetting for whom they work.
July 18th, 2007 at 10:46 amblessings, Sharon! Looks like you and I are in agreement this morning regarding Ace bashing. I only wish I had half the intellect which Ace obviously has as well as his ability to facilitate the dispersement of the information. He’s a gem and many of us greatly appreciate what he provides. Good to see you again, Sharon….Peace & Blessings to you!
July 18th, 2007 at 10:46 amI must weigh in on the side of Ace, let all who aren’t bashing other poster’s for their message post their ideas or info and link’s…Rather I agree or not with what they have to say they have a right to say it and I personelly would like to read it and then form my own conclusion’s….If it’s a troll or someone who is merely bashing other poster’s they need to be banned….The personal attack’s and B.S. are a large part of why I have been absent..Instead of joining in like I use to I now scroll past the poster’s I don’t care for and quickly get out…I clearly have enough on my plate right now to take care of and no need to engage an ignorant troll or an angry extreme reich winger….Do as you choose but please do not silence all the voices that do not agree exactly with your thought’s…Read, listen, process and join in where you can……
Have you told some one you love them, how about planting a tree, did you mail off a check or donated to a fund that matches you belief’s?…If not, how about today..Blessings to you all.

Bravo, Sharon! And good morning. :)
I agree — trolls, who gives a shit? But feeding on our own, because we don’t exactly agree is non-productive. Some of us appreciate Ace’s comments, and find them quite valuable. Great! Some of us don’t like Ace’s comments, and are free to scroll on by. It doesn’t cost anything.

Why is Islam the only religion the ACLU supports having a public display of faith?
Why are Muslims given preferntial treatment in our society?

Oh I forgot they’re not Jews!
Speaking for myself, I am envious of Ace’s ability to wrap his mind around the myriad of data out there and bring it into focus. Naturally, the diversity of the left means that we will be basically in synchrony overall but each also have our own “take” on the potpourri of issues involved. That’s precisely why we ARE NOT lockstep Republicans and we need to cherish our unique differences, halt the kindred bashing, and use our common voice to make changes in whatever form we can. To expect that we (lefties, for lack of a better moniker) must be like the Republicans and agree with each other every step of the way is nonsensical and counterproductive overall. We need to celebrate our minute differences and be grateful for the diversity of opinion which exists among us.

How blind are you.. You’ve infected our money with your “In God we trust”, our money was fine without your fairy tales.
You then infected the pledge, with your “under god”.. This country was founded to separate church from state, and corporate control.
And the muslims have just as much RIGHT to display their faiths in public just like you. Just get the F out of government. They ARE not treated better than any other faith. You’re just a hateful christian who believes what you’re told by your idiot leaders.
July 18th, 2007 at 10:55 amMorning, Zooey! I saw that some of you kept the midnight oil burning with the filibuster vigil last night. I only wish I could have kept my peepers open that long.

Explain why the FBI has NOT listed the crime of 9/11 on the Bin Laden Wanted Poster, and why the FBI refuses to authenticate the purported Bin Laden confession video.
Don’t just attack me – EXPLAIN IT.
These are the facts:
For those of you who actually believe that Bin Laden was involved in the 9/11 attacks, the FBI Most Wanted web site disagrees with you, and so does Wikipedia:
“The FBI does not yet have ‘hard evidence’ linking him to the 9/11 attacks and so as of 2006 he has only been indicted on the embassy murders; he is officially still only a suspect in ‘other terrorist attacks throughout the world’.”
http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/laden.htm

Top Bin Laden Expert: The Tapes are Fakes
Kevin Barrett
As a PhD in Islamic and Arabic Studies, I hate to say this, but I’ll say it anyway. The events of 9/11 had nothing to do with Islam. The war on terror itself is as phony as the latest “Bin Laden tape.â€
Compare the nose of the actor in the video tape with that of Bin Laden:

You did not name the book to which you were referring.
You assume too much. I do not wish to control them and am quite aware of their intelligence but question their maturity and self control particularly in our society.
That they have natural urges does not mean that they should act upon them as the kids in Europe seem to have discovered and as abstinence education teaches. As I said in my original post, “… it will take more than abstinence education to affect change.” Eliminating this aspect of sex-ed will not help us achieve the desired goals.

We must continue to bombard John Conyers and demand Harriet Miers be charged with Inherent Contempt for ignoring a subpoena. Why hasn’t she been charged yet! This is beyond outrageous! I just heard Linda Sanchez-D CA on the radio. She says she’s not sure if Harriet Miers should be charged with Inherent Contempt because that’d be very serious. Is she kidding?
Keep calling and demand INHERENT CONTEMPT charges be brough against Harriet Miers!

I support Ace and his ability to see the big picture. I value the information that he brings here, as it is not soemthing I am likely to see anywhere else. I have an open mind and can think for myself. Conspiracies happen all the time. If people are to ignorant to think that the people who hold power and money don’t know how to manipulate it, then as Kay said, your head is up your arse.
The very fact that the trolls hate him is reason enough if I didn’t have any others. Quit feeding off our own. It pisses me off.
Larry, I think it was on RawStory they’re reporting Miers has refused a second subpoena!
July 18th, 2007 at 11:12 amI agree, she should be charged. Haul her in front of congress.

July 18th, 2007 at 11:12 amKrazny,
Ace and Kay are delusional.
Many people are starting to catch on to the China theory.
In fact I’ve spoken to Military members and they even admit they have suspisions on China’s involvement with 9/11.
Let’s look at the connections:
Al-Qaeda/Taliban in Pakistan armed with Chinese made weapons.
Al-Qaeda in Iraq armed with Chinese made weapons.
Hizb’Allah armed with Chinses made weapons.
Hamas armed with Chinses weapons.
Iran aremed with Chinese weapons.
Finally,
The troofer movement funded by the Chinese controlled LIPPO organization.

I couldn’t agree more. If Ace wants to blogwhore and link to posts like this elsewhere, fine, but I don’t see why I should have to scroll past post after post of his masquerading as “comments” because he can’t be bothered to have his own blog.

Explain this book

Your adolescent, defensive and insulting rants undermine your position.
Stop projecting, it’s obnoxious…
You did not name the book to which you were referring.
“The End of Faith” by Sam Harris. Now, tell me I didn’t waste my time typing that because you’re actually going to read the book? No… well, then why do you care where I read it? I’d bother to look up the reference, because books I read actually cite their sources, but why bother?
You assume too much. I do not wish to control them and am quite aware of their intelligence but question their maturity and self control particularly in our society.
I assume nothing. I know how your side works. I used to be one of you.
That they have natural urges does not mean that they should act upon them as the kids in Europe seem to have discovered and as abstinence education teaches.
Except that becuase you ignore the overwhelming evidence against that the position, it is validation that you refuse to admit your view is wrong, and that comes from a need to control. Simple Psychology… You give yourself away with your words and actions.
As I said in my original post, “… it will take more than abstinence education to affect change.†Eliminating this aspect of sex-ed will not help us achieve the desired goals.

Actually, that’s a lie. I have corrected myself before. Unlike you, I do my homework before I form opinions that are based in REALITY. It gives me an advantage on being correct in my assertions more often than not. Try it. I used to be like you and just thought that the facts would fit my opinions just because they were my opinions. And then, I actually started looking at the facts. Seems that if you do the research first, it means you’re more likely to have an opinion that is factual, rather than the other way around.
Insult me for it all you want, but we know that you’re just lazy and a sore loser…

Feeding on our own makes the trolls leap with joy — we must not give them the satisfction. We don’ have to agree 100%, that’s what makes us free thinkers. But at the same time we should not be trying to stifle the thoughts or words of those with whom we don’t see eye-to-eye. Especially on the open thread.

Nobody would respond like that unless they are intending to be rude, and anyone recieving that kind of response would interpret it as such.

“Stop projecting, it’s obnoxious…”
Another adolescent, defensive and insulting rant.
“Now, tell me I didn’t waste my time typing that because you’re actually going to read the book?”
I actually have it in my possession.
“No… ”
Wrong again
“…well, then why do you care where I read it?”
Because some of us are actually open minded.
“I’d bother to look up the reference, because books I read actually cite their sources, but why bother?”
Maybe to prove your point.
“I assume nothing. I know how your side works.”
You are terribly assuming and bigoted.
“I used to be one of you.”
And who do you presume I am?
“Except that becuase you ignore the overwhelming evidence against that the position,…”
No it’s not. It’s what you assume my position is not what I actually said.
“…it is validation that you refuse to admit your view is wrong,…”
My view that we should teach kids to be like the kids in Europe and exercise self control and not be so sexually active, that view?
“…that comes from a need to control. ”
Who is projecting? There is a difference between educating and controlling.
“Simple Psychology…”
Now you know me so well you assume the role of my psychologist.
“You give yourself away with your words and actions.”
Demonstrate where.
“You reject valid studies for your own wishful thinking.”
TP said here abstinence ed then it linked to abstinence ONLY. But that study does not validate the alternative sex ed curriculums which existed for thirty years before abstinence ed and failed as miserably. It also does not take into account cultural influences and differences with European society. These are conversations we could have had if you had not been so quick to judge, label and discount me as a fellow human being and educator.
“I see no reason to debate the subject with you and just point out your irrational behavior…”
You have not debated you name call and think that makes you correct.
“You didn’t even read my link did you?”
I did. You are wrong again. Better yet I have actually lived in Europe and am a citizen. Additionally sex-ed is part of my course load, though admittedly not my forte.
“See… You keep making my points for me and demonstrating that that talking to you is a waste of time because you refuse toa address the facts because you need to be right at all costs.”
You have not proven me wrong yet. You have not even debated. You made erroneous and irrelevant claims regarding my motives and called me names like an angry child.
“Shoo now, I am not interested in your ignorant opinions devoid of reality. I get enough from my own relatives…”
Wow and they let you teach children, how sad. But go ahead and run away little girl. Go back to the children who are too afraid of you to challenge your arrogance.

UB, the longer you dig in your heels and refuse to admit that your comment was rude, the longer this is going to go on.
Don’t get me wrong…with dolt’s history, a little rudeness thrown his way is entirely justifiable, but attempting to deny the obvious is just fanning the flames.

Impossible…
Living in the South, I’ve noticed how many people don’t take responsibility for their reactions. They don’t get that they choose their interpretation and therefore reaction, but instead blame people for how they have chosen to feel… Rather than ask themselves why they are constantly offended…
They don’t like that I don’t sugar-coat everything. It’s how I’ve learned to differentiate between responsible people and petty people… The ones who can’t tolerate reality aren’t worth the time of day…
July 18th, 2007 at 12:27 pmUB, the longer you dig in your heels and refuse to admit that your comment was rude, the longer this is going to go on.
Exactly :D. You don’t find that amusing on some level?
It actually wasn’t rude. I can’t admit what isn’t so…

Nope. There’s a vast difference between being honest and insulting people as she did in her post. You know that.
I know you don’t like me – but this isn’t about you. Don’t try to personalize it. I was just messing with a couple of habitually annoying trolls.
July 18th, 2007 at 12:37 pmunbelievable sez:
Actually, yes, it was. Given my past dealings with dolt, the fact that I am actually taking his side on this issue should make it clear that I am not making this claim for partisan reasons. Zooey shares this opinion…another poster who wouldn’t side with dolt unless the facts demanded it.
But can you admit what is manifestly so?
In this case, it is. The longer you hold out, the more dolt makes you out to be a fool.

You are entitled to your opinion. You are not entitled to force it on me. I thought you were bigger than that despite our differences in opinion?
The only one who knows my intention was me. To assume you know me better than I know myself is the real definition of foolish.
It was an off-the-cuff joking remark. It was a joke that he took as a serious remark, despite the fact that I don’t take him seriously. But, if you need to believe otherwise to perpetuate your superiority, I really couldn’t care less.
July 18th, 2007 at 12:47 pmunbelievable sez:
Yes…the difference seems to be: “It’s OK when unbelievable does it”.
You castigate others for being rude, and then you attempt to excuse your own bad behavior by claiming you “don’t sugar-coat”. It’s puerile sophistry, and you know it.
I don’t particularly care if you’re rude. It’s no skin off my nose, and I know I’ve been vitriolic here before, especially when it comes to dealing with trolls. I don’t object to your rudeness…I object to your hypocrisy.
Really? How do you ‘know’ that? What makes you think I hold any opinion of consequence about you (other than the one you’re rapidly forming with your hypocrisy, that is)?
Agreed. Please stop trying to make it ‘about me’, then.
Again, I don’t care about your rudeness, and I care less than nothing for the trolls. What I do care about is your ridiculous double-standard. Be rude if you wish…but at least have the common decency to admit it.

I have said this before and repeat it with sincere concern. As an educator your defensive nature and inability to maturely and objectively discuss an issue with someone who disagrees with you is alarming. It betrays some deep seated problems and you need to reflect on it.

I wasn’t planning on weighing in on this, because I know the futility of it, but I also felt it was rude.
An individual does not define rudeness, society does, and in this case, our micro-society of TP seems to have weighed in rather heavily towards it being rude.
July 18th, 2007 at 1:18 pmThe microsociety at TP consists of two regulars and two trolls? LOL
I have a friend who is always saying to me “There you go thinking again” whenever I say anything wrong. It’s a joke. Maybe I’m the only one of the five of us who gets it, but considering I said it, and the unwillingness to give me the benefit of the doubt for having authored it really is petty.
The bottom line is this – in my real life, I never get accused of this. Just here by the same small group of people who don’t like that I don’t care what they think about me.
Let’s make it easy. Just skip my posts if you don’t like what I have to say. I’m not going to start sugar-coating things because you choose to misinterpret what I say. You can only change yourself. You can’t and won’t change me. That should have become obvious by now…
This isn’t personal. If you make it that way, it’s not my problem – even if it’s easier to pretend it is.

So, which is more likely… you misread my tone, or an entire community has poor judgment?
Yes, I know your answer. It’s why I rely so heavily on you for advice… LOL
Seriously, lighten up. I’ve admitted when I was wrong in the past, but when I’m not wrong, I am willing to stick to my guns. It’s called conviction. Some people admire it. Some people don’t. Most people don’t care. Fine with me…

“I’ve received glowing reviews from my students, their parents, the community, my supervisors, and my peers.”
Considering the stress of adjusting to a new school and the job itself administrators almost allways give first and second year teachers a lot of slack. Don’t be too comforted by those reviews.
“So, which is more likely… you misread my tone, or an entire community has poor judgment?”
Indeed I may be off in my assesment, often it is difficult to read a person through their writing particularly when, as we have seen here persons often assume characters and role play.
“Yes, I know your answer. It’s why I rely so heavily on you for advice… LOL”
I am not the fanatic you think I am, and I care about you as a fellow human. While your comment was tongue in cheek my advice and concern was not.

I admire conviction when balanced with objectivity and kindness.

I have a friend who is always saying to me “There you go thinking again†whenever I say anything wrong. It’s a joke.
It could have been a joke, but you didn’t claim that early on, “My bad, I meant it as a joke” and instead of a Brazilian comments about this, there would have been what, 3?
July 18th, 2007 at 2:04 pmNot that I wish to enter this pi$$ing match and make a stand, but I would like to point out one thing:
I have a friend that continuously replys to such statements, especially when indulging in barley and hops beverages, with “well there you go, thinking again…”
For instance, if I had a particularly bad golf shot, and proclaim that ” I thought my 9 iron would carry the creek…” he would then make said reply.
It is definetly a smart a$$ remark, but it is usually not received as “rude” (unless, Mr. John Belushi look a like has over exceeded his max of beer consumption, to which by then, everything he does and says is automatically rude, as well as stupid)
I think it’s hard to convey, on a blog, a sarcastic statement that was intended as a joke. I’ve had that happen to me occasionally.
TPM, though we never might, I thought of you yesterday, after work, as I drove past the Kalamazoo Court House. Usually, every weekday there at 5pm, a handful of “peace protestors” are picketing for Impeachment. This particular gentleman had a hat that read “Impeach Now”, and he was holding a sign that read “9/11. Know The Truth!”
You didn’t make the I-94 westbound trip to Kalamazoo, did ya?

As have I, although I seriously doubt that this was UB’s intent, given her acerbic style of discourse, as evidenced by her posting history.

…and what is really heartening is that, at least the 5 days per week when I drive by, the majority of cars are honking, or people are waving or giving the “thumbs up”. I’ve yet to see a 26%’er flip ‘em off, or yell.
I know for a fact that there are plenty of Republican supporters here in Kalamazoo that still blindly follow this administration, I think they’re just too afraid to show themselves!
