ABC’s miniseries The Path to 9/11 has now been nominated for six seven Emmy awards. This “docudrama” was rife with historical inaccuracies that blamed President Clinton for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, while heaping praise on President Bush. It was written by avowed conservative Cyrus Nowrasteh, who once spoke on a panel entitled: “Rebels With A Cause: How Conservatives Can Lead Hollywood’s Next Paradigm Shift.”

Maybe Nowrastah will get a medal as well.
July 19th, 2007 at 1:43 pmAnother losing day for leftinites.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!

Complain all you want about the emmy nominations. The dems have betrayed our troops and the will of the American people by funding this war.
July 19th, 2007 at 1:44 pmChoke on that, lefties.
July 19th, 2007 at 1:44 pmMr. President watched “Path to 9/11″ all by himself, clapping and cheering. I remember he dropped a Dorito in the cat box, and picked it up and ate it. I swear, if I had a gastrointestinal system, I woulda thrown up.
July 19th, 2007 at 1:45 pmSo much for the claim that all of Hollywood is liberal.
Perhaps this piece of historical inaccuracies and fabrications will be eliminated from the competition; Nowrasteh will have to be consoled with Bush’s medal of Freedom.

July 19th, 2007 at 1:48 pmBecause of the piece of propaganda, ABC is also blocked out of my cable, and also a radio station I used to listen too, I no longer listen too, and it also made me happen to find Air America by mistake, and glad I did find it.
And the winner of the Emmy for best docudrama is . . .

July 19th, 2007 at 1:48 pmInteresting how dismissive the trolls were about Al Gore and Michael Moore winning Oscars, but they rush to embrace these Emmy nominations as if they prove… something.

July 19th, 2007 at 1:49 pm“Critiqued” Clinton and “heaped praise” on Bush?…
Um… I don’t think so. It was a well-done miniseries that barely mentioned Bush, so I don’t see how it “heaped praise” on him. As for Clinton, the miniseries showed how the Clinton administration’s policies of appeasement kill us all.
During the time of appeasement, our enemies were emboldened. Now, as the latest intelligence and NIE report states, the terrorists now view the U.S. as more secure than ever.
Bottom line: quit being a shill for either the Dems or the Repubs and use your own brain.

July 19th, 2007 at 1:51 pmThere was nothing Right-Wing about it, unless you consider a well made, factual account of the events that preceded the attacks of 9/11 to be Right-Wing.
How many of you actually watched the film?

Your refusal to listen to any viewpoints or opinions that don’t mesh with your very narrow views illustrate what is wrong with your ilk. July 19th, 2007 at 1:56 pmThere goes that Liberal Hollywood again… they must have felt sorry for the poor, rightwing “docudrama” so they nominated it to make conservatives feel better. You know conservatives always say that just being nominated makes you a winner - wait, no they don’t.
Actually, the nominations are for technical disciplines like cinematography and editing so presumably the people who have earned the nominations are union members and “Hollywood liberals” who did their jobs.
Now the wingers will have to decide - do they root for Path to 9/11, even if it means they are hoping that union members get Emmys, or do they keep opposing Hollywood?
It’s enough to make a winger’s head explode - and to make me laugh.

July 19th, 2007 at 2:01 pmI’d say it’s either pretty stupid or very ballsy of them to be opening up 911 even before Kucinich’s committee makes their findings public. Perhaps that’s why they’re doing it. In any case, it will open up the “911 painbody” for all americans and what will transpire is the insertion of major contradictions in the official story….which is a great jumping off point for every american. In the long run, bringing attention to 911 all over again will set tongues wagging, whistleblowers whistling, and people coming out of the woodwork en masse to refute the film.
To paraphrase Bushitco: “bring it on!”.

So, Thomas Nicoletti (a former FBI agent who was a technical advisor on the film) is lying when he said that he knows the difference between dramatic license and historical inaccuracy, and that the film is the latter?
And conservative Clinton critic Richard Miniter said that there was no factual basis for the segment on the “alleged opportunity” to assassinate Osama bin Laden, is he lying too?

Condi Rice is an evil woman who should be ashamed every time she looks in the mirror. Her own parents would be ashamed of her, for her testimony quite literally shrugging off the PDB warning about OBL being determined to attack within the US.

Yeah, just like the truth (you do know that it’s not supposed to be capitalized?) about UFOs, bigfoot and the secret societies that run our world will come out one day?
You guys sit at home, constantly shift through news sites and conspiracy sites, compile your own screeds, post them on other conspiracy sites or usenet and then engage in a gigantic intellectual circle-jerk over the imagined connections between events that may or may not actually have happened.
You see yourselves as heroes who bravely uncover the truth that no-one else can see and have narcissistic fantasies about how, after the harmonic convergence has taken place and the humanity has reached a higher level of vibration (or some other new age crap like that), the history will laud you for your intelligence, courage and wisdom.
I once knew a guy who thought he was being watched and controlled by government agents via tv sets and one-way mirrors. How did he know this? Because these agents kept leaving clues like having a news anchor wear a tie of a certain color. You’re just like that: seeing conspiracies where there are only coincidences.

Rich: What we are saying here is that by Bush’s numbers, all that’s left of the Rethugs is what is called “the maniac fringe” - 30% MOL.
That means that 70% of americans fall into the Democrat/Independent category and this number considers themselves to be liberal or left.
The disconnect we feel with Dem. moderates like Hillary, Biden et al is precisely because they’re attempting to pander to what used to win elections “the moderate middle” which now no longer exists.
The moderate middle has been shifted left and now joins the extreme left and independent making it the entity to be reckoned with in 08. The candidate who puts this together will be the winner.

Bill O’Reilly, Fox News pundit:
Ok, we’re talking about the run up to 9-11 and this movie that they’re re-cutting now — and they should because it puts words in the mouth of real people, actors playing real people that they didn’t say and its wrong. [O’Reilly radio show, 9/8/06]

July 19th, 2007 at 2:31 pmExactly what we need is American Castro or Chavez!
Let’s get rid of the Repuke traitors. They can move to Australia or Israel.
Hillary will do this, she’s one of us!
Trust me she will be President for Life!
Lay off ABC! They had the decency to omit the fifth aircraft that day: Al Gore grimly piloting a solar-powered ultralight toward the Lincoln Memorial. Only a sudden cloud and Gore’s subsequent splashdown in the Potomac spared our 16th President. YOU LIBERALS ARE NEVER HAPPY!

What? No, I like Israel. The Aussies, not so much and they could do with a few wussies to weaken their sports teams, but Israel is off limits.
Shit the Jews have had enough to put up with from the west all of these years without saddling them with those losers.
July 19th, 2007 at 2:34 pmHuh? I thought Hollywood was liberal? Darn!
July 19th, 2007 at 2:35 pmYou guys don’t know this, but when Mr. P switches id’s on his computer, he actually switches hats. He wears a Nationals baseball cap when he’s Mr P, and when he switches to Boudin Bob, he wears a beret. Gay, I know, but that’s what he does.
When he plays m12, he wears one of those propeller beenies. I don’t even know where he found that one.

See but it was Clinton who did it
He drove all the planes into the towers personally, one after the other screaming “I HATE AMERICA”

July 19th, 2007 at 2:58 pmHow many Emmy nominations went to CBS’ “The Reagans?”
July 19th, 2007 at 2:58 pm#137 ~ Loretta
Yeah, in the immortal words of Sherrif Bart:
“They Desperate! They DESPERATE!~”
July 19th, 2007 at 2:59 pmMr. Prez just gave away his age and/or his microscopic attention span, the movie was an enormous hype and aired less than a year ago. From this we can deduce that his opinions or “knowledge” of anything prior to about December 2006 is as unreliable as a 6 year old’s understanding of her parent’s home mortgage financing. This reminds me of when it was proven that Rush Limbaugh never registered to vote in his life until 1986; therefore he never even voted for Reagan, not one time.

July 19th, 2007 at 3:04 pmcan’t say it’s good to see ya
Here’s the list — for those of you who don’t have the strength to plow through all the nominations looking for “Path to 9/11″:
Outstanding casting for miniseries, movie, or special
Outstanding main title design for miniseries, movie, or special
Outstanding single-camera picture editing for miniseries or movie
Outstanding cinematography for miniseries or movie
Outstanding music composition (original score) for miniseries, movie, or special
Outstanding sound editing for miniseries, movie, or special
Outstanding visual effects for miniseries, movie, or special
Please note these are mostly technical awards (except for casting and music score), and the techies who determine these nominations could care less about the factual accuracy of the script. For that matter, neither casting nor music score has anything to do with historical accuracy, either.
These Emmy nominations are not any kind of mandate for the legitimacy of the propaganda — although the neocons will certainly try to spin it that way.
July 19th, 2007 at 3:07 pmHaha Lefties! At least the Emmys don’t hate our freedom! This proves that Iraq was behind 911 and Clinton knew and did nothing!

Yeah, but it is not nominated for anything important. It is not nominated for Best Director - MiniSeries, nor is it nominated for Outstanding Made for TV Movie.
July 19th, 2007 at 3:17 pmMr. President ,
July 19th, 2007 at 3:20 pmYou are a relic of the past.

As for Muslims, they are a peace loving people who never launched wars of aggression against anyone else.
Islam means poeace in Arabic.
Mohhamed preched against violence and his example was followed by Ghandi and Martin Luther King JR.
I can only hope the terrorists watch the Emmy awards to see how their plan has failed. By blowing up those towers and that building where all those generals live, they helped make an Emmy award winning show that brought joy and happiness to millions of Americans.
July 19th, 2007 at 3:22 pmRich Porter
Come off it, the dividing line between Hillary and Lieberman what Hillary has, Lieberman is.
Hillary was one of the chief proponents of the Iraq war, and one of Bush’s staunchest defenders. She is in favour of evangelical Christianity, and believes that games are the root of all evil. She is hated by the right purely because she happens to be female.

The truth will come out as soon as the current administration is not there anymore. The whistleblowers will have a tough time getting an open slot in the news shows, because there will be so many of them. Don’t you think there are legions of people who have axes to grind and will be out in public as soon as the retaliatory force of the Bush Administrations has lost its edge. And if they don’t have axes to grind they will be all over the prosecutors asking for deals. Noone there to commute their sentences then, you know. I am definitely looking forward to it.
And btw: Draft Gore!
July 19th, 2007 at 3:49 pm“I’m in the RNC Troll Department making close to six-figures. You couldn’t even hope for that!”
Gold stars on your RNC report card do count as “figures” of a sort, but I’m not sure they’re exactly the “figures” we’re talking about.

July 19th, 2007 at 4:53 pmWell done. I hope it sweeps the Emmies. A first rate and accurate account of how Clinton failed to protect America leading to the deaths of 3,000 Americans.
July 19th, 2007 at 5:22 pm# 165…. its also a shame Bush didn’t go after Bin Laden either….
hey… any mention in the mock-u-drama of what Bush did his first eight months, BESIDES skip every intelligence meeting, especially where the report entitled “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike within America” was presented……..
No???? what a surprise.
but really # 25’s post had it just right. They got nominated for everything BUT the storyline. NICE.
cinematography
lighting

So basically the creators/producers, etc. of the Emmy Awards are saying the no longer want to be taken seriously at all.
That’s cool. In that case, I won’t even bother to flip past them when I’m channel surfing, I’ll just enter the next number above or below manually.

Isn’t Norm Coleman’s wife a not particularly successful actress, as well? Perhaps that’s another reason he resents Hollywood.
July 19th, 2007 at 11:27 pmABC’s miniseries The Path to 9/11 has now been nominated for six seven Emmy awards.
Er… okay.
Last year The New Adventures of Old Christine was not only nominated but won something.
Maybe a reality check is in order in terms of thinking that Emmys somehow mean something in relation to the quality of content.
Either that or start complaining about who makes E-News’ best dressed list.
