‘I think he would make a spectacular attorney general.’

said former Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Comey, in reference to Patrick Fitzgerald. “He certainly is one of the very best federal prosecutors in America.” Comey added, “This is a guy who’s spent time in small rooms in a lot of countries around the world with people who’ve killed a lot of people. He’s not intimidated by pressure.”

  1. DM says:

Yes he would. In a functioning democracy anyway.

  2. upside00 says:

If he was appointed (and accepted) the job, my guess is cheney’s shotgun or an IED under his hood would be in his future.

No way could the BushCo Boyz let him dig through their manure pile!

  3. hil says:

are we sure we really want to go with some one who is actually QUALIFIED??

… that sounds like pre-911 thinking to me!!

wtf? was this his reasoning for:
I think he would make a spectacular attorney general. ?????

Because so have a lot of the GITMO interrogators. Does that make them all qualified to be AG’s?

  5. upside00 says:

    Sgt Higgins,

I am not sure what that really meant either, but what I like about him would be his his ability to restore the Rule of Law in this country……..something that is totally lacking at this time.

  6. VerbalKint says:

It would be ironic justice if a Democratic president appointed Fitzgerald AG and allowed his office access to evidence of wrongdoing in the Bush White House. I’m sure Fitzgerald would love to nail Bush and Cheney.

  7. Marie says:

Is Comey referring to the fact that Fitzgerald has successfully prosecuted numerous cases involving felonies?
Insofar as Fitsgerald’s reputation – he seems to be held in high esteem by people and his peers of both parties.
Are we looking ahead to the demise of Gonzo?

Sorry, I just read the article through the link. Seems TP could’ve used a few other, better quotes to promote the guy. I like what I read, too. H edoes seem to have a good track record. I just hope that as AG, he’s able to make the leap from strictly going after politicians and mobsters. There’s a lot more crime out there.

Now down to 382. but Mr. Pee’s rants and slogans remain.

  10. spit take says:

I assume Comey was speaking speculatively, and not in response to any rumors.

Fitzgerald would be a great choice if BushCo were concerned about what people thought and wanted to restore the reputation of the DoJ. But that clearly doesn’t work for them.

    willy,

I agree with you, and I feel ANYTHING he would do, would be better than the current clown holding down that position. Even if we have someone who has any respect of the people and the US Attorneys would be a huge improvement!

  13. bobh says:

An adis ridden monobrow monkey with a case of scabies would be better than the chimps inhabiting the AGO now.

  14. Egreggious says:

I heard Bush was considering Kevin Federline to run the DOJ.

  15. SGT Higgins says:

that last communication we had is my last at TP.
They banned my IP after removing that Post.
Please let others there know what happened and why I won’t be back. and let Ace know that I am sorry I doubted him.
Someone there was scrubbing up his posts and mine and others on that thread about the Cheney questions.
and they left on about “kill islamist is progress.”
When I tried to psot that, they banned me permanately.
it’s been nice talking with you Sgt. Higgins. I hope everything turns out well for your family.

————- I apologize, I don’t recall the posters handle, (memory of a gnat) but I has passed an E-mail (it hurts, don’t ever pass an e-mail) back and forth with this guy. We were both in Iraq at the same time and shared some similar experiences and probably passed each other on the roads a time or two.
I’ve replied asking him what his handle was, but wanted to share this e-mail with you all.

While I’m on the subject, anyone seen willyloman?

Everyone, please choose your words carefully.

    Except the trolls, of course.

  18. RUCerious says:

Is he talking about CommanderGuy and Darth?

  19. Buck Fush says:

Bushco can’t have anyone honest in his administration, so, no he will not get the job. Should he have the job, sure, but not being a member of the Mafia he doesn’t qualify by Bushco standards.

On a small note, yesterday the Trolls where so out of hand that I am considering just not going to this site anymore, it is ridiculous, and if you guys don’t get together and IGNORE THE TROLLS, you are gonna find yourselves with very little people coming here anymore. I will give it a couple of days, but if feeding the Trolls continues, then I don’t see the point of being here at all.

  20. dlet says:

The being in a small room statement is weird but he has interviewed Libby, Rove, Novak and others….so there is some merit in it.

True enough. Willyloman was banned by TP.
Confirmed in an e-mail I received.

    We’ll miss ya, willyloman.

Something bad is going on at TP.

  24. Helen Rainier says:

I would also like to see every one of the “fired” AGs, especially David Iglesias, placed into positions in the Justice Department under the new administration in 2009. I’m wagering the Democratic Party will end up with the Presidency and a lot of the Congress.

  25. SGT Higgins says:

Either that, or they banned him for hijacking my name about a week ago.

    Comment by Mr. President

Guess that means your days are numbered.

  26. Neon Bunny says:

If they would just ban the trolls, I would be oh so happy. I mainly enjoy reading the posts here, but some threads just have to abandoned they become so annoying with trolls.

  27. Powkat says:

‘He’s not intimidated by pressure.’ And that’s why BushCo will never, never hire him.

  28. Marie says:

I don’t know what’s going on at TP, but it appears that willyloman, BnF and TripMasterMonkey have all been banned. Their names have been suspiciously highjacked and their posts disappear.

  29. SKdeA says:

Time for everyone to move over to Crooks and Liars – practically all the same stories, and remarkably troll-free!
i used to spend a lot of time here, but it has become like looking for a needle in a haystack trying to find a worthwhile conversation.
Too bad TP won’t put the resources on to getting rid of the trolls. Maybe they have also been purchased by Rupert Murdoch?

No, he’s just easily fooled. by those killers into having him treat them as friends of the US.

As demonstrated by his spending time in small rooms with those who would go on to organise the African embassy bombings, who until that point Fitzgerald trusted as assets.

Secret detentions, secret evidence and preventing terrorists from standing trial didn’t start in 2001 kids. Fitzgerald has his own personal case of this required for the sole purpose of not embarassing his incompetence in treating Zawahiri’s right-hand in America as an asset. Right up until that resulted in 4000 casualties.
