The Decider back in charge.

By Faiz Shakir on Jul 21st, 2007 at 11:11 am

The Decider back in charge.

The AP reports, “Bush reclaimed his presidential powers and duties at 9:21 a.m. EDT. The transfer of power took place with letters Bush sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., president pro tempore of the Senate. Bush reclaimed the powers with follow-up letters once the colonoscopy had ended.”

  3. Beth says:

whew. I was worried Cheney might launch an attack against Iran.

  4. Kay says:

    honey, he’s still going to…

  5. Buford says:

This story makes me happy when I substitute ‘brain transplant’ for ‘colonoscopy’… wouldn’t THAT be nice?

  6. Dreary Urbanite says:

Do you figure they found his head up there?

  7. katy says:

    “…the colonoscopy had ended.”

“heh … now get me a cheeseburger!”

  8. TheToonguy says:

I’m just wondering how they were able to perform the procedure with Bush’s head in the way.

  9. Zooey says:

    Hey King,

    Howz yer butt?

  10. Clyde the Ripper says:

Again Bush has proved himself to be a perfect a$$hole.

  12. katy says:

    Reuters
    Published: Saturday, July 21, 2007
WASHINGTON — President Bush had five polyps discovered and removed during a routine colon cancer test Saturday, the White House said.
They were small and “none appeared worrisome,” White House spokesman Scott Stanzel told reporters after the colonoscopy [...]
Mr. Bush’s colonoscopy in 2002 revealed no medical problems…

aaaw, how sweet… that’s one for each year of his evil doings…

actually, that IS a lot of polyps… that oldest one was probably
    rather ugly by this time…

  13. Kay says:

    so, that’s where the WMD’s were located…

  14. Mr. T says:

I’m happy as long as we don’t see that same Fox News headline on January 21, 2009.

  15. Kay says:

no, he’ll probably cancel the 2008 election — so, there’ll be no need to transfer powers, he’ll already have them.

  16. varnst says:

Did Gannon or Haggert perform the “inspection”?

  17. oddity says:

Strange thing to say, but I’m glad bush is President again..

  18. varnst says:

It appears the media is hell bent on convincing us that 5 Polyps is nothing to worry about for the prez. I myself hope he goes the way of Tony Snow, we deserve to watch him wither.

  19. Kay says:

Strange thing to say, but I’m glad bush is President again..

    Why, the HELL why?

Er, not the meds I was referring to.

Those who need help are always the last to know.

  28. Egreggious says:

C’mon, TRoS, let’s stick to the thread and talk about the Decider being back in charge.

    You got anything?

  29. ∞Ω says:

    Even Bush’s polyps are incompetent.

  30. varnst says:

    Comment by Egreggious

Stick to the thread? All I see here are comments like “How is the ol’ a*whole?” and “so, that’s where the WMD’s were located…”.

Here’s a serious thought for you… We’ve been in the worst Constitutional crisis imaginable for several years now, not just the last few weeks or months. The fact that this hasn’t been called for what it is before doesn’t mean it hasn’t been happening. The Bush Admin is the most secretive WH in US history. At this point, we have no REAL idea what else they’re up to, and they scare the HELL out of me.

There, not one personal attack or cuss word, and personally, I could care less about the man’s polyps.

If that were the case, you’d think there’d be a whole lot more.

(Sigh) I suppose I’m glad that Cheney is no longer the President, but only in a “lesser of two evils” way.

I want to know what Cheney managed to do with those hours that he had the power. I sincerely hope that he slepy in this morning since it’s Saturday.

  42. Jeannie See says:

    Comment by Jeannie See — July 21, 2007 @ 1:21 pm

Heh, I used to have that problem, too, but I keep my nails shorter now for just that reason. Plus, ever since I broke my wrist, I now use those ‘ergonomic’ keyboards, both at home and at work, so the ‘t’ and the ‘y’ are much farther apart.

And why not? It’s a great show. But that’s OT. (Bad, Wayne! Bad!)

Back OT, I wonder how he feels knowing that everyone watching him at that moment knows that he just had something rammed up his butt? Chagrined?

Personally, I would have simply announced that he was undergoing a “medical procedure” for which anesthesia was necessary. (Dental work?) They didn’t need to give so much fodder to comedians.

  48. rub their noses in bush says:

    DID Cheney sign anything?

  49. Jim says:

#45: When Chimpy and Darth dies there will be the biggest party this world has ever seen

This is a stupid comment. Nothing more than fuel for the Bill O’Reilly types who wish to paint “The Left” with the same brush. I dislike Bush and Cheney and all that they stand for, but I’m not interested in partying over their deaths.

zooey, you have an interest in grown men’s butts?

  51. katy says:

i just remembered something, from the last few times
    i went under anesthesia…
i do believe there is a waiting period, 24? 48 hours?, before one can sign or carry out any legal procedure after anesthesia…

just a fun fact, maybe?, to keep in mind…

  52. The Republic of Stupidity says:

zooey, you have an interest in grown men’s butts?

    Comment by michael

Probably not… another try at humor on Zooey’s part, which you understand.

Since you’re so hot to play questions and answers this morning, why are you singling Zooey out? Why are you here this morning?

I stand by my statement 100%. There will be Universal Party like noone has ever seen. After all the deaths these 2 have caused, it sure would be a time to party!

He’s certainly trying his best this morning, isn’t he? It’s kind of interesting to see the different rhetorical gambits he tries to break into conversations.

Silly insults, baiting people w/ loaded questions, ridiculous statements guaranteed to provoke a reaction, singly out one person for ridicule.

I gotta say, duking it out w/ these trolls is making me sharper. You have to reply properly to stop them. Kind of a paper-scissors-rock thing goin’ on, huh?

Mets are on national radio today!! :-D!! But Penny is having a gooood year… hmmm… tough game coming up.

According to their website, the Mets are on Fox TV, too. But I don’t know if that’s just regional coverage or national. It ought to be national since they are in first place.

So don’t you actually get to watch them? Where are you, BTW?

Yeah, I’ve noted michael’s “pointless questions” approach to derailing the thread. I’m steeling myself to ignore that crap. I’m glad that you’re honing your skills, though, you’re doing a fine job.:)

  66. The Republic of Stupidity says:

    Comment by Jane E. Schneider

My television blew up 2 yrs ago and I never replaced it. I watch movies on my computer now, so I really don’t miss the tube anymore. I was listening to the Mets on Internet radio (MLB.com) last yr but it was just stopping me in my tracks – I spent too much time just sitting and listening to games… hmmm… not unlike the amount of time I now spend posting here, but that’s another story.

I live on the West Coast, the East Bay, across from SF.

  67. Jane E. Schneider says:

Comment by The Republic of Stupidity — July 21, 2007 @ 3:23 pm

Jeez, TRoS, can we ship you out one of our spare TVs? You have to be able to WATCH a game sometime! And here I’ve been bemoaning the fact that I haven’t been to Shea at all this year, while you can’t even SEE them? Damn!

(Yeah, I know we’ve been completely off topic for a bit, but, really, how much can anyone say about Bush being out of surgery, thereby saving us from the greater evil of Darth Cheney?)

  68. The republic of Stupidity says:

    Comment by Jane E. Schneider

Well, I watched the playoffs last fall at a friend’s house (another diehard Mets fan) and i go to several A’s games every year. Most wednesday games in town are only $2 for upper deck seats. Where can you see an MLB game for $2 buskc these days? A’s ain’t too good this year, but most of the last 7-8 years, they’re in contention.

While Cheney was Acting President, I hope he signed and classified BLANKET PARDONS for Bush, himself, and every other Administration official waging the war on terror.
