According to a new Washington Post poll, “Bush’s overall approval rating equals its all-time low…at 33 percent, with 65 percent disapproving. Fifty-two percent said they ’strongly’ disapprove of his job performance, the highest figure of his presidency and more than three times the 16 percent who strongly approve.”
Man I hope he doesn’t go as low as Harry Reid.

July 23rd, 2007 at 6:32 pmCall Congress Today for Impeachment
We’ve reached the impeachment moment for Vice President Dick Cheney. We’ve pushed the cosponsor list for H. Res. 333 up to 14. Chairman John Conyers says that if we get 3 more he’ll begin the impeachment proceedings.
And many Congress Members must be recognizing that there is no other path available. Cheney and Bush have repeatedly refused to comply with subpoenas, ordered former staffers not to comply, and announced that the Justice Department will not enforce contempt citations from Congress. When a special prosecutor attempted to hold this administration accountable, Cheney’s chief of staff obstructed justice, and Cheney persuaded Bush to commute his sentence. There is no course left for Congress but Impeachment.
On Monday, July 23rd, the fifth anniversary of the meeting that produced the Downing Street Minutes, Cindy Sheehan, Ray McGovern, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Ann Wright, Debra Sweet, Dave Lindorff, David Swanson, Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin, Kevin Zeese, and Tina Richards will lead a march to Chairman Conyers office and not leave until he agrees to begin impeachment proceedings.
If you cannot be there, you can take two minutes on Monday and do two things: phone Chairman Conyers at 202-225-5126 and ask him to start the impeachment of Dick Cheney; and phone your own Congress Member at 202-224-3121 and ask them to immediately call Conyers’ office to express their support for impeachment. Your Congress Member might be one of the three needed, not just to keep impeachment activists out of jail but to keep this nation from devolving into dictatorship.

Apparently, Mr. Pee, your reading comprehension isn’t so good. The article linked opens with this quote:
Most Americans see President Bush as intransigent on Iraq and prefer that the Democratic-controlled Congress make decisions over a possible withdrawal of U.S. forces
And follows a few paragraphs down with this one:
Overall approval of Congress stands at 37 percent in the new poll
Ouch! That’s gonna leave a mark!
July 23rd, 2007 at 6:38 pmMy approval rating is better than that of each member of Congress!
July 23rd, 2007 at 6:39 pmThrasymachos: “Better than congress!”
Actually, your predictable post is only half correct, my Bush-worshipping friend. The last FOX NEWS poll had 36% approval for Democratic lawmakers against 30% for Repubs. Yes, Bush still slightly beats out Republican lawmakers who have been falling on their swords for him for years. They may be getting tired of that. We’ll see.
July 23rd, 2007 at 6:40 pm#2. Fan_of_Man: I used your link, added some heartfelt comments, and it was sent to my Rep and both Senators. It’s really the easiest way to contact all of them at once. If enough people do this, they WILL pay attention. I’m so mad at Harry Reid for not even having the cajones to support Russ Feingold’s censure resolution, I could spit. If he keeps it up, people will start calling for him to step down as Majority Leader (which might not be a bad idea).

Well in 2008 the American people can vote for surrender and in January 2009 if the surrender lobby wins then they can give up and let the slaughter of American civilians return as we saw in the 1990s. Until that time the United States will continue to kill Islamo Fascists.

July 23rd, 2007 at 6:54 pmI see the trolls are unwilling to compare apples to apples. I guess they don’t like the fact that a single, brand-new poll, asking both questions (President’s approval and Congress’s) not only says that the American people are more likely to trust the Democratic Congress than President Bush with decisions about the war, but they also have a HIGHER approval rating.
Let’s see… POTUS — 33%
Congress (as a whole) — 37%
Yes, I do believe that Congress has HIGHER approval ratings than the President.

Where is Osama bin Laden, Frank? Why hasn’t your cult leader killed or captured him? Who sent the anthrax to Democratic lawmakers and journalists? Why hasn’t Bush’s Justice Dept. found and captured this terrorist? Why are there more “islamo Fascists” in the world now than there were before you cult-leader took over? Simple questions for a simple mind.

Okay, genius, I guess you’re going to force me to cut-and-paste my response to Mr. pee up above, since you didn’t bother to read any comments before shooting your fool mouth off.
The article linked above started with this sentence:
Most Americans see President Bush as intransigent on Iraq and prefer that the Democratic-controlled Congress make decisions over a possible withdrawal of U.S. forces
And follows a few paragraphs down with this one:
Overall approval of Congress stands at 37 percent in the new poll
In other words, You’re12, (since I know math isn’t your strongest subject) this poll found the President had an approval rating of 33%. Congress was at 37%.
Which do you think is higher?
Now, you can try to compare the President’s number from this poll to Congress’s number from ANOTHER poll, but even you know enough to realize that this is not really fair, is it? Oh, you don’t give a crap about “fair”? You just want your side to win?
Congratulations! You’ve passed the right-wing troll loyalty test!

July 23rd, 2007 at 7:09 pmBoys, boys, you’re linking to a subjective article about the poll. At Zogby’s site, you find this:
14% said they were “excellent” or “good;” 83% said they were “fair” or “poor.”
I think I’d rather see some data on this poll before I reached any conclusions. How many of the 83% said “fair,” for example. In addition, the latest Gallop says 58% of respondents will vote Democratic for congress in 2008 against 26% who will go with the Repub. My guess is that there are more “fair” votes in this poll that the author decided not to mention and that part of the displeasure with congress is that it’s not slaming the Bushies enough. In other words, my guess is that if people don’t particularly like the Dem in their district, they’re probably wanting someone MORE liberal, not less.

Spin all you want, or let Don Surber spin for you, it doesn’t matter. This is a legitimate poll that researched both questions. Apples to apples. The fact that Bush is as high as he is, when most polls have him in the mid-to-upper twenties, should indicate that it’s not slanted to the left.

I’m afraid Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, David Vitter, and Bob Allen would feel left out. After all, three of them are homosexual and the fourth likes to get dressed up in a diaper by prostitutes.

Mikey r stands by his homosexual = PERVERT statement!
I admit I’m totally repressed and think an old man in a position of authority over a young woman (in fact the world) is taking advantage, in fact perverted. Are high school teachers allowed to do this to 18 year old girls? What about the boss to his young colleague? Even Foley, you mentioned him.
Pin drop… … ping… …TP, anyone… any homosexuals out there… …hypocrites? Are homosexuals PERVERTS now? Help me out?
July 23rd, 2007 at 8:49 pmThe poll numbers can be looked at not just as evidence of the fact that Americans are fed up with Bush, but that they want a change of priorities in the country.
It is time move beyond the unending debate over the Iraq war. There are other issues which demand attention from conscious Americans, and with an election coming up we are perfectly situated to make sure they are addressed.
The fight against global poverty is tragically overlooked in all this debate over war and corruption. The UN has established a set of Millennium Development Goals which seek to eliminate global poverty by 2025, but political support in the US is lacking.

July 23rd, 2007 at 9:46 pmFrank J, Everytime you use the term Islamo Fascist you are showing your ignorance as well as your complete willingness to be told what to think no matter how idiotic it may sound. The people whom we are currently struggling against are Religious Zealots, not Islamo Fascist, which is a word most likely made up by Karl Rove to scare the shit out of dimwitted idiots like yourself. Let’s start by looking at the definition of fascism.
fascism (sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
This definition more closely describes the the policies of the Bush Administration. But you wouldn’t know that since you seem to just accept whatever you are being told to repeat by the neocon spin machine. You are being played by the very people that you try so desperately to defend…DUMBASS!

And I’m not at all bothered by the low approval rating of Congress, since I don’t approve either. I want to see them do more to hold BushCo accountable. They can’t do much more about the war than they currently are doing, because they have an extremely obstructionist Reublican leadeship to deal with, and very narrow majorities in both houses.
July 23rd, 2007 at 10:45 pmr: Stop it. You’re just wrong.
July 24th, 2007 at 9:38 amHere are some interesting poll numbers:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Most Americans see President George W. Bush as too inflexible on the war in Iraq and prefer that the Democratic-run Congress have the final word on when to withdraw U.S. forces, a Washington Post/ABC News poll showed on Monday.
Nearly 80 percent of those polled said Bush is not willing enough to change policies over the unpopular war that has taken a huge toll on his approval ratings, the Post reported.
Congress did not rate much better with a 37 percent approval and 60 percent disapproval rating, which the Post said was equal to dissatisfaction late last year when Republicans controlled Congress.
Overall, an overwhelming 78 percent of Americans in this ABC News/Washington Post poll say Bush is not willing enough to change his stance on the war, up from 66 percent last December. The biggest movement is among Republicans; 55 percent say the president is not willing enough to alter his Iraq polices, up 16 points.
I saw on Keith Olberman last night that 55% of Republicans now disapprove of how the Bush Administration is handling the occupation of Iraq. I couldn’t find it in my google search. That is really bad news for the Bush Administration.
July 24th, 2007 at 9:47 amoops….that 55% figure is in what I posted. It helps if you read what you are posting before you post it!
July 24th, 2007 at 9:48 am:Alrite, fine, I’ll take your word for it. Sucks to be a PelosiReidMoonbat when your champs are barely above the Decider!”
Just wait until Congress finds it’s spine and starts brining Contempt charges against Bush’s minions, or brings Articles of Impeachment against Chaney and then Bush. You will see Congress’ approval ratings soar then.
It must really hurt to lost your right wing talking point that Congress has worse approval ratings than the President.
July 24th, 2007 at 9:51 amTruman was a war president, that had to make difficult decisions during difficult times. (without the luxury of monday morning quarterbacking and 20/20 hindsight). His approval was lower than Bush’s, but history has shown (after the political noise has faded) that Truman served us well. Bush has served us well also, despite the efforts of short-sighted partisans.
