Naive as in, we don't believe everything members of government tell us when it has been proven that they are a bunch of liars?

Oh, sorry, I forgot you are a Neocon, for you, up is down and black is white.

Republicans object to the fairness doctrine because it is an assault on free speech. Someone has to save you from yourselves (and communism). You're welcome.

P.S. Just because you oppose the war in Iraq doesn't make you anti-American; only naive and misinformed.

Here is the difference:

You Neocons phrase being anti-Iraq-war as being anti-America. That the majority of Americans are anti-Iraq-war simply neatly demonstrates that you guys on the right like talking out of your asses. The majority of Americans aren't anti-America.

The media? The media is a collection of large corporations which are not liberal in the least. Think about the huge stink you neocons throw whenever a liberal mentions the idea of a fairness doctrine: It would take away your propaganda vehicle and you know it.

toasterhead and everyone else here. you tell me that: "80 percent of Americans believe in little green men from Mars also. That doesn’t make it so."

Do you think about what you're saying. Isn't it ironic that the almost 80% disapproval rating of the war or of the Presidents performance (which is touted here every day) equals the majority that you admit believe in little green men. If it doesn't make it so, you'd better tell everyone here at TP, so they can dismiss the polling.

You say that those who believe the liberal bias are naively accepting the lies being propagated by talk radio. Where do you think the 75% of people who disapprove of the war get their information. Have all these Americans seen the war in Iraq firsthand? Probably not. Maybe they get their information and formulate their opinions by consuming a diet of less than objective print and television media. But, you confidently promote that the same well informed public that overwelmingly disapproves of the war, is also naive enough to be conned into believing the right wing dogma of liberal bias in the media. My life would be much easier if I lived in the flippant, selective world you call home.

Whether you agree or not, most Americans understand that the media is (and has been for a long time) biased towards liberalism.

That is a falsity. The media is centrist. They are corporate. They play both sides of the fence. They will repeat whatever makes news ad nasueum. They like to create controversy. It sells. Sex sells, is that liberal? Or is that just capitalism? Why would free market Capitalists have to use sex? To Exploit you desires. An overweight 60 year old man smoking a cigar while reading the stocks doesn't sell. Rush calls himself a conservative but he exploited himself with a desire for drugs. He is no more a conservative than Paris Hilton.

Capitalism is exploitative. You want to smoke cigarettes and die of cancer, here ya go, smoke my brand like the sexy women do. You want to drink alcohol? Here drink my brand with the sexy woman on the billboard, don't blame me when your livers keels over. You want to see naked women? Here read Playboy or Penthouse, but don't blame me when you become a pervert. You want pornography? Here look at these women having sex, whack your brain out, take some viagra. Want a prostitute? Call the DC Madam, she'll be happy to exploit your desires. But don't blame her when you caught with a diaper on.
The media is not a government watchdog group. There is nothing that says that they have to digg up and report government corruption.

Does anyone remember the dialogue between the 2 reporters at the parade in Goldie Hawn's hometown in the movie Protocol? It is almost identical to this, it was something like "Sunny is wearing some kind of "frock" I guess you'd call it and the vice president is wearing a suit".

http://rasmussenreports.com/ public_content/ politics/ americans_see_liberal_media_bias_on_tv_news.

When TP wants me to understand that most Americans disapprove of the war in Iraq, they show me the poll numbers.

Try again. I know you can do better.

Comment by paul — July 24, 2007 @ 10:37 am

I'm syndicating this from the other thread because you're a moron.

Approval ratings are a different type of survey. When you ask repondents whether they personally approve or disapprove of a public policy or politician, that’s pure opinion. There’s nothing else that can prove or disprove that - it’s what they believe.

When you ask people if they think a network or “the media” is biased, they’re going to give their answer based on what they’ve heard or read. I doubt that most respondents have actually sat there watching various networks with a clipboard making ticks in a “liberal” and “conservative” column whenever a journalist made a statement with a partisan slant, or that they have done studies on the number of conservative or liberal think tanks cited. They’re giving an opinion-based answer on a quantifiable topic that they are very likely unqualified to answer.

The poll, dear Paul, is "Americans see liberal bias on TV news."

No kidding. With zipperheads playing the refs since Reagan rescinded the Fairness Doctrine, that's not the only lie the right wing propaganda machine has managed to get past the public. 80 percent of Americans believe in little green men from Mars also. That doesn't make it so.

Therefore you are, indeed, clueless. You're free to browse the content of Media Matters to enlighten yourself on the subject.

paul

Americans see the press as being too liberal because...

The press tells Americans that it is too liberal.

That Americans, the same guys who voted for Bush twice despite the fact that his second term campaign consisted of "I am a screw-up, I couldn't take him in a debate, but, heh, heh Kerry looks like Lurch," think it is too conservative is meaningless.

What America needs is a press couldn't care less about whether it is "too liberal" and is more concerned with the very liberal media ideology of "The media must report the news."

As to liberal policy failures?

Right now you righties have had 6 years of ultimate power, what did you achieve? Record deficits, doubling America's debt, a stock market which is still recording 5 year highs, a major city in ruins, and 9/11, which is bizarrely treat as though it is some sort of victory for the party which held ultimate power over America for 9 months prior to it happening.

And you think the leftwing needs to take a long hard look at its policies? Pfft.

Zooey. explain to me how it's clueless. I am saying that most Americans believe that media is biased towards liberalism and I post the poll results.

http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/americans_see_liberal_media_bias_on_tv_news.

When TP wants me to understand that most Americans disapprove of the war in Iraq, they show me the poll numbers.

Try again. I know you can do better.

Whether you agree or not, most Americans understand that the media is (and has been for a long time) biased towards liberalism.
Comment by paul

That statement all by itself show just how clueless you are.

I give Carol Costello props for not letting Blitzer slam Hillary for wearing that coat. She said Hillary looked hip and feminine. Blitzer isn't too fond of women, and Hillary in particular. He's become a pawn for Repug talking points and is not a serious news man. He's merely a news reader. He could make important news, but doesn't invite controversy. Ted Turner, 27 years ago, had just the opposite philosophy in mind when he started that news format. We're all the poorer for the cop out by CNN.

You may think CNN is becoming too conservative (for you), but they are probably responding to this:

Whether you agree or not, most Americans understand that the media is (and has been for a long time) biased towards liberalism.

Cooper did a good job last night. The debate wasn't the usual love fest with softballs. A more objective press will actually help democrats in the long run. In the short run, however, it will be difficult as democrats are pressed to find answers for their failed policies.
