I want to add my support to nanlichi's comment about DanCaveman. I'd quit reading because I was bored with all the off-topic stuff. Thanks, Dan, for making this thread interesting again.

DanCaveman,

You get my nomination for the most coherent and logical poster. Please don't let the trolls drive you away from the site.

I admire you for your service in Iraq, and for your heartfelt and right on posts.

The men and women dying in Iraq for political reasons don't seem to be in the equation at all. Bush and the Boyz are hellbent on staying the course until Bush leaves office and they can lay the blame on the Democrats.

It is a big game to these people, and to so many of the Bush supporters it's my team vs your team, right or wrong. Weak and stubborn like Bush, they can't admit their Dear Leader is a total failure.

We are going to leave Iraq at some point, and we will have done the best we could with the deck stacked against us. Prolonging the inevitable is criminal in my mind, and the Decider and his supporters have death and dismemberment on their souls.

May they all rot in Hell.

'Feingold holds town hall meetings/listening sessions in EVERY voting district in Wisconsin at least once a year. He gets an earfull from both democrats and republicans. He knows that The voters are way ahead of the politicians on this one. The voters know we are in a Quagmire , and you can’t fight terrorism when you’re up to your eyeballs in Mud.'

Russ Feingold is the only senator in Washington with the balls to say what the rest are all afraid to....and I am proud that he is from Wisconsin. Go Russ - don't let the bastards win!

What is wrong with everyone. This thread is about a great senator who continuously brings up great points. Has been right all along, and has the guts to stand up and shout what everyone needs to hear.

Instead, everyone on the thread has turned it into a sexual preference or sexual deviant thread. Apparently the 4-6 American Soldiers dying EVERY DAY is not important enough to stay on topic. Apparently the stripping of our rights and everything that those soldiers fought for, in the name of fear, is OK.

Everyday, I worry about the country that I loved. An idea I thought would end up being a guiding light to the rest of the world (once we worked out all the bugs). I hoped this country would be an example of tolerance, acceptance, and freedom. How much worse does it have to get before people wake up - or before it is important enough to stay on topic?

Ok Merlin, you want me to think you’re acting as bad as them.

Just say you agree that based on posted comments:

Zooey said the recruits are BAIT.
Walt The Man disparaged one ethnic group vs. another.
Mickey r equated homosexuals to PERVERTS.
And here I’ll expand for the sake of answering mikey r”

(sorry I don’t have the exact text) Somebody tossed out the word PERVERT against the GOP. And I said, no, the pervert is Bill Clinton with his blue dress and cigar as show and tell (mickey r - I wish you hadn’t made me repeat that part).

Then mickey r countered with 3 republicans who he says are homosexuals and a diaper fetish guy are PERVERTS. I think this is the context.

And then they all claimed it was just fun and jokes amongst the locals. Dirty stinky stupid unqualified outsiders like me wouldn’t understand.

Ok.

Republicans are saving civilian Americans from attacks here, while terror organizations focus on disrupting Coalition efforts in Iraq.

Comment by paul

What republicans? Are you signing up to go help "save Americans from attacks here"? Have you met an Iraqi? Have you loaded you buddies on an evacuation helicopter?

I am sick and tired of the rhetoric which consists of two things:
1. Fear - that they have been peddling since 2002
2. The troops as a talking point

When I went over there, I was fed a bunch of BS of how we were going so that people could be safe and wouldn't have to live in fear - while I am gone fighting for that security, the Bush administration has worked its butt off to make sure every American is living in fear. The "terrorists" could never have done that. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". When you live in fear, you abandon all reason.

It is easy to sit behind your keyboard saying how awesome it is that our military is kicking but over there. Using the colloquial "we" that one refers to when they talk about their favorite sports team. Well paul, this isn't your favorite sports team, and their is no "We". There are those willing to give there lives for this what this country stands for, and those that are willing to sit on their a**and send them there so they can feel some sort of warped pride.

This isn't a game. There are no clear rules. It doesn't matter how many battles we win. We have won every military battle (and many are very bloody, but I would be surprised if you knew that), and all that does is rally more Iraqis to the cause of the insurgents. Every day that we stay there when the majority of Iraqis want us out, is a day that someone else sees us as conquerers instead of liberators. One more day that Al Qaeda is transformed into the liberators.

If you think this occupation is sooo noble, then I hope you are on your way to sign up for the military. The military is short handed and needs your help. But no, you probably will sit there and keep saying "we" are winning, and "we" need to stay!! Well, paul, there is no "we" there are "US" (the ones who care for the ideals of this country and try to protect it on AND OFF the battle field) and their is YOU who likes to sit and cheer while others do the heavy lifting.

And... "r"? Until I see something resembling rational thought from one of your comments, I stand by my judgment of "dense" for you. It shouldn't take fiuve posts to get the concept of "context" through to you. Deal with it.

Wrong, "r". I didn't claim it was "just jokes and fun". I said I was responding to your post in which you identified a heterosexual man getting oral sex from a woman as preverted. In that context, I think it's safe to assume that one who considered such an act as perverted would also consider gay sex perverted, likely more so.

However, if I misjudged you and you consider a woman giving head to a man perverted but gay sex not, then you have an argument. Is that the case? Because I used what I assumed to be your standards, not my own.
