He keeps repeating a few focus-group tested mantras like "we're fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here." He tries to maintain his "straight shooter" image but, when it comes to Iraq, he seems content to repeat a set of flimsy, highly theoretical arguments. I think that people want to really understand why the country needs to continue to pour so much of its blood and treasure into the Iraq venture. Given the costs, one would think the rationale would be concise, concrete, and air-tight -- but it's the opposite.
