It's not necessarily an honor. It goes to the person (or persons) who have been the greatest influence of news events over the past year. Every President since FDR (except Ford) has been POTY at least once, and so have Hitler, Stalin, and the Ayatollah Khomeini. Even Wallis Simpson had her turn, for her role in the abdication of the King of England. I am inclined to think Rupert Murdoch might be a logical choice. Considering that John Conyers now refuses to move on impeachment because he is scared of Fox News, it's obvious that Murdoch wields an influence over our country and our lives that's greater than anyone ever dreamed. It may be to our benefit that TIME should explain to the American people how they are being led around by the nose. (and yes, we must do something about it!) Alexis Glick and Liz Clamon have already left CNBC and rumor has it others are being courted. He's trying to acquire the WSJ. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Interesting choice.
