The hateful commenters on O’Reilly’s website.

After attacking DailyKos for a few extreme comments, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly defended his cherry-picked attack, saying, “I have my own website. Open forum is bull. You can regulate what’s on your website.” Today, Kos responded with a sampling of the hateful comments on O’Reilly’s website:

I have been to many ballgames and I never saw heterosexuals slobbering over each other all over the place. There might be a few who do it, but it was obvious that the homosexuals were doing what they always do when they have a stage and that is flaunt their fagginess to an “in your face extreme”.

Either O’Reilly’s not regulating his website as he says or he simply doesn’t consider hoping for the destruction of an American city to be an example of hateful speech.

If you oppose killing and war, you hate america. If you want to leave iraq, you must be with the terrorists. Stand by big bad Bill and you’re a great patriot – or so these people say.

But reality is quite different. It’s these people who are acting with hatred towards everything this country was founded upon, and they’re willing to throw away liberty to satisfy their thirst for power, profits and war…

    Call Congress Today for Impeachment

We’ve reached the impeachment moment for Vice President Dick Cheney. We’ve pushed the cosponsor list for H. Res. 333 up to 14. Chairman John Conyers says that if we get 3 more he’ll begin the impeachment proceedings.

And many Congress Members must be recognizing that there is no other path available. Cheney and Bush have repeatedly refused to comply with subpoenas, ordered former staffers not to comply, and announced that the Justice Department will not enforce contempt citations from Congress. When a special prosecutor attempted to hold this administration accountable, Cheney’s chief of staff obstructed justice, and Cheney persuaded Bush to commute his sentence. There is no course left for Congress but Impeachment.

On Monday, July 23rd, the fifth anniversary of the meeting that produced the Downing Street Minutes, Cindy Sheehan, Ray McGovern, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Ann Wright, Debra Sweet, Dave Lindorff, David Swanson, Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin, Kevin Zeese, and Tina Richards will lead a march to Chairman Conyers office and not leave until he agrees to begin impeachment proceedings.

If you cannot be there, you can take two minutes on Monday and do two things: phone Chairman Conyers at 202-225-5126 and ask him to start the impeachment of Dick Cheney; and phone your own Congress Member at 202-224-3121 and ask them to immediately call Conyers’ office to express their support for impeachment. Your Congress Member might be one of the three needed, not just to keep impeachment activists out of jail but to keep this nation from devolving into dictatorship.

You should check out some of the less main-stream right-wing sites. I don’t remember names but they’re easy to find – and are horrifying to read.

I once found one that allowed comments to registered members. So I registered so I could respond to a thread filled with “Democrats are the Real Terrorists we should kill them” comments. My approach was neutral and I definitely kept my liberal stripes hidden.

My post was that not “all Democrats were the enemy” (another phrased used there), and that that attitude distracted us from the Real Enemy (such as Bin Laden, and other people actively trying to kill us).

Within an hour my post was deleted and my account was terminated.

My only conclusion is that that site – and others like it – don’t merely condone hate speech, but revel in it.

I think the Trolls here must feel a deep appreciation for the fact that here – as in on most of the ,Left there is Freedom of Speech. Perhaps that’s why they come here, knowing they don’t find it in their own party.

Don’t Forget, They Hate the Troops

Over at the Daily Kos, they like to pretend they support the troops while only referring to them with patronizing terms such as “children,” but you barely have to scratch them to reveal they truly hate the military and anyone in it. Look at the virtual orgasm of the Kwazy Kos Kids in reaction to this post where someone calls our military “morally retarded” and refers to their “fat whining families.” The author, who used to be on SNL, even insults in the comments a mother who lost a son in Iraq. This all days after YearlyKos lost Jet Blue as a sponsor when O’Reilly labeled it a hate site because it’s… well… a site full of hate.

Apparently, this has been a bit of wake of call to Kos who, after already banning Truther talk, wants to stop the new conspiracy theories about an oncoming dictatorship (real problems are a bit too much for Kwazy Kos Kids to focus on). The questions is, if Kos gets rid of the haters and the loons, will he have anyone left?

This would all be silly entertainment if it weren’t for the fact that the Democratic presidential candidates are actually going to YearlyKos to kiss the unwiped bums of these weirdos. If someone can’t even stand up to these freaks, does he or she really have the mettle to be president?

Please get an education, government is the only entity that may censure you. The government doesn’t censure you thanks to the 1st Amendment in the our Constitution.

Private corporations can’t censure you. If you had a little bit of an education you would understand why and the difference between government censure and private corporations controling what you say and write.

legally, censure can only be done by a government. please, educate yourself.

  32. spit take says:

I have dropped in on a couple of right-wing message boards on occasion, and I find that the hate speech isn’t 24/7 — at least not the unhinged stuff that makes good “Gotcha” evidence. There’s the occasional nutjob, but most of them, in my limited experience, simply state their right-wing views matter-of-factly.

Does that mean they are more “civilized” than we are? Of course not. What it means is that, because their commenting policies are so limited and dissenters so rare, there is little of the conflict that tends to ratchet up the rhetoric around progressive blogs like TP, HUffpo and C&L.

Why would you get all nuclear with your language if everybody is agreeing with you?

But when you are faced with crap like, “Democratic presidential candidates are actually going to YearlyKos to kiss the unwiped bums of these weirdos.” (HT frank jake) then you’re going to be more comfortable with smacking down a pig–ignorant comment like that, and you’ll be tempted to use harsh language to do so. and the DailyKos is what? a left wing site.

so, please get off your soap box, left wing sites control what people post on their blogs as much as right wing blogs.

only a partisan, poorly educated left winger would claim that only right wing blogs delete, ban, etc hateful posters.

  38. Stefan says:

    Frank

Nobody is going to be perfect to everybody else, and no kidding there are wackos everywhere.

Here – as in much of the Left – there is a lot of anger about what’s happening. The Left is angry that we were lied into a war that is killing our troops needlessly and diminishing our military, destabilizing the Middle-East, bankrupting us and hurting our image – and thus our effectiveness – in the world, at the same time causing possibly irreparable damage to our system of government.

Can you honestly say those are GOOD things? Because if you think they are then we can’t even START talking about “hate”; supporting those would be the vilest form of hate, without having to say a word.

So if you – like me – don’t think those are GOOD things, what do you suggest? Pretend it’s all wonderful because someone might get upset if we say anything? Close our eyes to what’s obviously going on and chant “Trust our President”?

Please, if you actually care – about America, our military, our economy, our people – what practical non-hateful action do you suggest?

To anyone who bothers with things like facts, truth, objectivity – all that stuff that should be good for America – saying that the Left is “full of hate” is a laughable attempt to divert attention away from themselves.

Yeah, and that’s to try to have a modicum of civility.

I moderate a progressive web site, and you need some sort of policy to keep things from degenerating into a poo-flinging contest.

“Censoring” (not “censuring”, which is something very different) would mean that you cannot post at all. If you can post provided you do so elequently and nicely, that is not censorship. It’s having respect for someone else.

The problem with your post, Stefan, is that you are 100% wrong in believing that you are right to think the way you think and believe.

Who said that left wingers are the holders of the truth? you, Dailykos, TP, etc?

that is the problem with the left, they claim morality and reality are relative, except of course when it doesn’t suite them and then they claim that morality and reality are absolute.

Who said that how you think and what you believe about Iraq, Bush, etc is the right way to think and the right things to believe?

Do we on the right not have the right to be angry at those who we think are helping America’s enemies? do we on the right not have a right to take on face to face those that we believe are hurting our nation by their left wing rhetoric?

It seems that the left is only open minded to agreeing with anyone that is on the left, right?

That is the problem with most people on the left, people like PaulB who are no different than people like Frank J.

both hateful, closed minded individuals that only see through partisan glasses and are unwilling to believe that maybe, just maybe, they are wrong.

I think many of us make that mistake, think that these neocons actually THINK. We think somewhere in their heads they will see the truth, realize what a criminal Bush is and wake UP if they are given the facts to read for themselves. They avoid any and all REAL documents proving the point, no matter which corruption issue you bring up. Read the Libby transcript and see what a liar he is or read the CIA’s OWN reports showing Valerie Plame was covert? No WAY! Why bother with the REAL FACTS when you can watch some right wing psycho on teevee twist the facts for you?
Sadly, they do not care about truth or facts or justice or honesty or America or our troops caught up in someone else’s civil war, they care only to follow their leader like robots repeating their exhausted and ridiculous talking points. Reason and Truth are not their game. Ethics? Who needs ‘em? They are the scum of the earth and they come waving their bibles to hide Bush’s and their own racist, corrupt ways. They come waving our flag while corrupting every agency in our govt. with their warped ideologies. They are the cheaters, the liars, the scum of society, we are stuck with them because they will never change. They don’t possess any personal responsibility, when caught in their dirty deeds it’s always “God forgave me”their false claim of christianity is only a tool to cover them when caught redhanded. They are hypocrits like Vitter, liars like Domenici. Disgusting humans who will do or say anything to push their self serving agenda. These partisan hacks breaking the law, like Goodling, actually lie to themselves and believe they are doing “God’s work” they are delusional and vicious. They are our enemy, they are the real terrorists.
the trolls come here because the RED sites ALL practice censorship and all thwart free speech, but free speech is alive and well in the REALITY BASED progressive community.

  56. PaulB says:

Most of those sites will allow you to post comments but will ban you if you use too much profanity or make threatening or abusive comments.

ROFL… Nice try at ducking the point. They will also ban you if you say anything that goes against the grain there, even if you do so quite politely and follow all the rules. In any case, helena’s comment was not really about “censorship,” per se, but about the fact that the progressive and left-wing websites are far more friendly to opposing viewpoints, on average, than the right-wing sites.

BTW – Whoever it is that runs Thinkprogress often removes my comments – not the rude one or even the jokes – but the more serious ones.

Dear heart, when on earth have you ever made a serious comment?

  57. PaulB says:

By the way, conservative blogger John Cole, over at his Balloon Juice blog, has exactly the right take on this:

Just in case you were keeping score- some anonymous wingnut wrote a nasty anti-military screed on DKOS, had it promptly deleted by the folks at DKOS, and that is somehow proof that the left hates troops.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney is running around posing for pics with offensive posters, and the usual suspects are quiet.

    Current score:

    Hypocrisy 1, Sanity 0

BTW- This piece from Charles Johnson at LGF is pretty hacktacular:

The leftist blogosphere went out of their way to cover this one up as quickly as possible.

It was posted at Daily Kos, as Ace relates. But the Kidz are on edge about their credibility, so it was deleted within hours, without a word of explanation. Just doesn’t look right to be dissing the military when Kos is trying so hard to be the voice of the Democratic Party.

I actually had a window open to that page, and was going to write about it, but when I refreshed I saw it had been disappeared.

A quick refresher- anyone can post a diary there. I could log on to my account and write nothing but BUSH SUCKS BUSH SUCKS BUSH SUCKS BUSH SUCKS. In fact, I just did.

In other words, some idiot posted something, the community at DKOS found it offensive, and they deleted it. Isn’t that tacit support for the troops?

If they had left the post up, we would have had the usual suspects with the normal rightwing linkgasm: Michelle Malkin would have a post with 72 updates, and every drooling, frothing 28%er with a keyboard would have linked to it within hours claiming it PROVES THE LEFT HATES THE TROOPS. The spelling and punctuation wouldn’t be as good as mine, though.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Which is kind of an object lesson about reading Ace and LGF anymore.

  58. PaulB says:

And the post that made all the ruckus and that was supposed to have been deleted by Kos because of his being sensitive about his credibility and all? Well, it turns out that it was deleted by its author and that he deleted it because itwas being misinterpreted. See this post for details.

    So, which is it?

Oh, Jane, you should know better than to ask a troll to reconcile his cntradictory statements. It’s like asking him to pat his head and rub his belly. He could get stuck in an infinite loop and we’ll never get rid of him.

I know, spit take, but I do enjoy pointing out the contradictions! But I don’t think that we’ll be rid of him anytime soon, he’s enjoying himself too much.

Great post. Might I add this quote by James Madison:”If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

In hell I hope they make Oreilly watch his own show over and over and over.

    Oh the horror.

  74. Kilo says:

So O’Reilly’s got 2 hateful comments he doesn’t oppose and you’ve got 10,000.
Yeah tell him off TP. Who better to.
    Comment by Kilo — July 23, 2007 @ 8:13 pm

All of them made by your fellow trolls. I’m sure you’re proud.

LMAO. The trolls here are responsible for the daily calls for same Republican politicians to be killed are they ?

I read that 6 times and I don’t understand what you are talking about.

  76. Luis M says:

LGF celebrated the death of Rachel Corrie by sending pizzas to the Israeli soldiers. I don’t see TP sending piñatas to Fallujah.

So at least in this particular case, I see a right-wing site more full of hate than a left-wing site.

  77. Specialist G says:

The Trolls are just whistling in the graveyard right now. They’ve seen the polls. Hey Chickenhawks, if you thought 06 was bad, just wait until we get done pounding your ass in 08. Better stock up on Cheetos and Lubriderm now. Sucks to be on the wrong side of history, huh?
