Jon Stewart assesses the credentials of ‘The Decider.’

Last night, the Daily Show did a segment entitled “Expert Tease” reviewing comments by administration officials explaining what they know and don’t know. Watch it:

I watched this last night. Stewart has become so bitter, he’s no longer funny.

Bush is such a moron, and this video from a town hall meeting is the latest in a long… long line of evidence.

  4. Krazny says:

Sorry Paul I don’t see Stewart as being “bitter” perhaps your own bitterness, is infecting how you feel towards the daily show.

    LOL

  5. Republicans Can't Govern. says:

paul: if you REALLY to see political satire that is horribly lame, but includes a handy laugh track so you’ll know when to laugh, just look at the Conservative’s “Half Hour News Hour” on Fox. Or, anything with Tucker Carlson.

  6. RUCerious says:

    Makes perfect sense!
Bushit & Co, coming to a dictatorship near you!

  7. upside00 says:

    #! Paul,

I don’t think he is bitter as much as incredulous. He can’t believe we are actually living though this hell on earth with the BushCo Boyz and Girlz in power and nobody seems to be able to do anything about it.

I sense he is challenging us all to respond.

Funny, I read some of your posts last night, and it’s painfully obvious that you have become so dittoheaded for this administration, that, in all honestly, you’ve never been funny, or coherent, or even debatable.

  9. Zimzone says:

I think Jon Stewart is much better prepared for his show than Bush is for the Presidency.

As a political satirist, he makes Dennis Miller look like Gomer Pyle.

Oh, & that 1/2 a show on Fux? Canned laugh tracks are perfect. It fits right in with the canned & contaminated gargage Fux calls news.

  10. Dave C says:

I watched this last night. Stewart has become so bitter, he’s no longer funny.

Um, what you mean is that Stewart has become so accurate, his jokes are no longer funny. Comedians usually exaggerate the truth for a laugh. That’s unnecessary in this situation and it’s hard to laugh at this crappile you call an administration.

  11. hil says:

I agree, some (Paul) just lack the capacity to tell the difference

Paul, Look up PROJECTION in the dictionary.

The Daily Show has always been about satire. But how do you satirize total absurdity? Our world has now become such an Orwellian cartoon that satire bears too much resemblence to our reality for us tell the difference.

  14. VerbalKint says:

Paul, can you see through the tears when you type “bitter”?

  15. RUCerious says:

When you parody a tragedy, there’s bound to be some bittersweet tears…of pure hilarity.

  16. upside00 says:

Now if you all want to see REAL Theatre of the Absurd, watch Lil’ Bush on Comedy Central. This has to be the best spot-on capture of that bunch that has ever been made! It only stops being funny when yiou realize that it is SOOOO real, it scares the shit out of you!

I hope this show plays til the elections and gets many awards.

Stewart lambasts everyone, not just conservatives. However he does focus on those in power, and the most absurd among them.

  19. upside00 says:

#17 He has blasted Hil, Gore, Kerry, Jefferson and others but the Repugs offer such a target rich environment, why would he NOT go there!

Plus, I wouldn’t call him a Liberal as much as a truly funny and honest AAERICAN.

  20. Sharon says:

Well I watched Stewart and as alway’s thought he was way funny and sadly spot on..But what the hell, what do I know, I’m just another voter, citizen and patriot living in this bull shit bush boy made hell we now call cheney land..Blessings all..

    Comment by Happy Guy

No, I consider it a comedy ABOUT the tragedy of the news. And it is less biased and more full of actual news than Faux Nooz, and we don’t have to watch billo and hanniteehee. Those guys aren’t funny, just pathetic.

  23. DRxJ says:

Hey, Lohan was arrested. Is TP going to follow the story like they did with Paris Hilton?

…says the poster who’s link, the Drudge(ry) Report, headlines 4….FOUR articles regarding Lohan’s arrest!

    ROTFLMA, indeed!

  24. leftcoast says:

Is it any wonder why we are in a Messopotamia. The only true “experts” are the corporate lobbying groups that feed Bush and Co. their lines.
We are witnesses to the complete takeover of our government, from the Pres. on down.

  25. Administrator says:

If by “bitter” you mean angry, then it makes sense that Stewart would be bitter. I am too with that definition.

Some of the most biting satire in literature is, indeed, bitter. Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” about the plight of the poor in Ireland certainly has a bitter overtone. People familiar with the story will remember that Swift proposed that the poor Irish children be eaten, thus solving a hunger problem and a poverty problem.

If you are of a literary nature Swift’s “Modest Proposal” is worth the read.

You can find it here: (I hope I link it right!)

    Happy Guy just got owned.

Now, about the clip, really, really, people how can this guy can be president? People who voted him must be really really stupid.

  27. upside00 says:

    Administrator,

Be careful there, you are asking an awful lot of our resident troll. She/he would have to get mom to read it to them, just like Laura the Proazaced librarian has to do for Dubya.

  28. dbadass says:

Ever notice how much time Happy Guy spends ROTFLing. It’s a little scary since in real life most people have never witnessed such an event. Sort of like flag burning. People refer to it despite never actually seeing it happen.

  29. upside00 says:

    #28 Juan C. -

    I agree!

How many of those assclowns have gone out and scraped the Bush/Cheney04 sticker off their pickups and SUV’s, (right next to their NRA, Dale Earnhart Sr/Jr and Pro-Wrestling stickers) in the dead of night……..AND now won’t even be honest and admit they voted for them!

  30. hterrya says:

What Stewart is, is the current corrupt, crooked president’s worst nightmare.

Stewart actually DOES have experts to research all the dumb statements and collect them for our amusement and revulsion.

The best antidote to a self-absobed nit-wit, especially when the nit-wit is trying to destroy our country while he destroys Iraq, is to show the nit-wit in full “nit-wittery!”

Too bad Hitler didn’t have a Jon Stewart before he gained full power.

  31. The "Right" Way says:

You libs just don’t understand. We conservatives do not like to face the truth. That’s why we have “faith based” beliefs. If we believe it, then it becomes the truth.

  32. Barbarian says:

#32- Are you even attempting to sound relevant? Go back to your cubby hole, shoo.

  33. Juan C says:

Re.: The great satirical comment by The “Right” Way — July 24, 2007 @ 11:50 am

The problem with faith, it seems to me, is where a person places that faith.
Putting our faith in the current corrupt, crooked president and the NeoCons who whine about the “liberal media” would be a mistake of Biblical proportions! {:-)

    Comment by hterrya

    SPOT ON!!

All you need to know about the NeoCons can be summed up in one look at and one listen to william kristol. Remember he and his fellow assclowns are guiding the decisions in the WH, and have since 2000.

  36. BARTLEBEE says:

Did Bush say he was a “sunny guy”, or a “Sunni guy”?

    Comment by KYJurisDoctor — July 24, 2007 @ 11:15 am

Are you kidding? He crucified Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

    Now my question.

Do conservatives ever research anything before putting their foots in their mouths, or do they just always speak without knowing what they are talking about?

  38. BARTLEBEE says:

Stewart does what all political satirists do.

He goes after the dumbest guy in the room.

And right now, thats pretty much anybody in the RNC.

  39. BARTLEBEE says:

Of course, if you actually “watched” the show, you’d know that he still rags on Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, and other democrats who are likewise bumbling clods.

Next time research a little before opening your mouth.

You won’t look so stupid that way.

  40. Master Shake says:

#17 Does John Stewart EVER spoof Democrats/Liberals or is he just anti Conservatives?

A lot of conservatives think that Jon Stewart is picking on them. Watch the Crossfire episode with Jon Stewart on it. More importantly, watch Paul Begala’s face. He looks betrayed that Stewart is actually calling him on his nonsense.

What a wonderful song title! Groucho Marx (I hope some people at least are old enough to remember him) sang a song called Lydia the Tattooed Lady. The same tune would work.

  42. diogenes says:

The Democratic Party should run this as a campaign ad from now til the election!

    Freakin’ priceless!

  43. upside00 says:

    Admin,
It is funny (but profoundly sad) that there are SOOO MANY good targets out there in BushCo land!

And I do remember Groucho, and that would make for a light little diddy!

  44. Thrasymachos says:

    So?

Who cares about a bunch of clips taken out of context?

  45. Chris says:

Stewart and Colbert have gone into their reasoning before, they are comedians not news anchors. They comment on the most unpopular things without agenda. It just so happens that 52% of American STRONGLY disagrees with the current administration and the numbers for the rest of the world are just as horrible. Do you think the show’s going to tap into the 52% American market or the 16% strongly agree market? It’s simple dollars and cents, which I would hope any of you trolls would understand.

Plus, it’s fucking hilarious. If you showed me a video of Clinton and his cabinet doing that I would laugh just as hard. Maybe harder.

  46. Happy Guy says:

Hey DRxJ, Drudge has his website to post about all kinds of thing. Entertainment, Pro Conservative, Pro Liberal, current events…. You people sit around with your noses in the air telling everyone you are better, more “progressive” and the educated elite. Yet you talked about Paris Hilton 3 times a day. We admit we are “Fair and Balanced”. We talk about all different topics and we show BOTH SIDES. This website has never shown a Pro Republican, Pro Conservative, Pro Bush (I know, you a$$holes will say he never did anything right) or Anti Liberal, Anti Kennedy Pelosi Clinton Gore… So Juan, you face the truth. We admit who we are. I come here to laugh at you hypocrites patting yourselves on the back thinking your high and mighty.

Meanwhile Bush servers his SECOND TERM – ROTFL, ROTFL, ROTFL

  47. paul says:

I watched Colbert after the Daily Show. He is still funny. Maybe bitter isn’t the best way to describe Stewart. Maybe I sense a desperation (that many of you echo) over the current state of affairs. I believe his selective deperate view has caused him to ‘jump the shark’. Most segments (the Nova science guy last night excepted, he was great) are so over the top, they’re losing any credibility. I have also watched Stewart in Europe on CNN. During the show he was such an apologist for the United States he came off as a pathetic sycophant and not the enlightened world denizen he fancies himself.

  48. kelso says:

Funny as hell, like always. The only people that don’t find Stewart funny are those too STUPID to understand irony and sarcasm. It’s ok, not all of us were born with the ability to pick up on those types of things.

To all the Daily Show haters out there, perhaps the 3 stooges, pies in the face, kicks in the groin, and redneck jokes are more up your alley. Of course, there’s always Karl Rove style humor…..in which you can ‘joke’ about ripping the heads off of small furry animals for fun….. har. har.

  49. Raff says:

As a former repub, I think Stewart is funny and thought provoking. Even within a humorous context, his comments hit the core of serious concerns that some of us have about the current administration. Whether he is blasting conservatives, or making fun of Dem candidate’s hair, they guy is funny.
