Right-wing launches coordinated assault on Reid.»

The Washington Times writes, “Senate Republicans are preparing to take aim at Majority Leader Harry Reid over the August recess for being ‘all talk but no action.’” Conservative operatives are complaining about “Reid’s harsh language when talking about Bush.” The attacks come on the same day that the new minimum wage takes effect, an important accomplishment of the 110th Congress. Reid’s office cites a list of other achievements. Carpetbagger, Kos, MyDD, and AmericaBlog have more.

  1. Ringo Says:

    Good.

    Harry Reid is a ass.

  2. Martha Stewart Says:

It’s the House that needs to take action, impeachment action, contempt of Congress action!

  3. Thrasymachos Says:

Get rid of Harry “The Whimp” Reid, and Screeeeeeecher Pelosi!

  4. Namtillaku Says:

I never thought I’d say this but, I’m rooting for the republicans on this one. But this has the potential to explode in their faces, much like their gay lovers do.

  5. Badmoodman Says:

“all talk but no action.” - - Wait, Lugar and Specter are gonna add a Democrat to their nifty club? Naaah.

  6. Ringo Says:

Just look at this nitwit: http://www.alarmingnews.com/archives/Reid%20boycott.jpg

This is the face of the modern Democrat party; sour, embittered, defeatist.

  7. dumbstruck Says:

I expect Reid to cower down instead of fighting back.

    He’s chickensh*t.

  8. shane Says:

Bingo and Mr. P want to tell Democrats how to run their party. Why don’t you work on your own party first and then you can worry about the Democrats.

I guess you piss soaked trolls think that the Three Stooges, Chimpy, Darth, and Gonzo are doing such a great job that we should listen to your brilliant opinions on running things.

  9. Martha Stewart Says:

This is what you get when you put a Mormon in charge.

  10. Ringo Says:

Dick Cheney needs to give Harry Reid a bionic wedgie.

  11. Angry One Says:

    Reid the obstructionist?

It was only last week that the beloved GOP talking point “up or down vote” was officially declared dead. Its demise was little noticed in the aftermath of the Senate Republicans’ successful all-night filibuster to block the Reed-Levin bill seeking to begin U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq. “Up or down vote” was killed by a desperate Republican Party trying to obstruct Democratic accomplishments at any cost in advance of the 2008 elections. And so far, the GOP seems to be getting away with the crime.

    For the details, see:
“Up or Down Vote: Death of a GOP Talking Point.”

  13. Badmoodman Says:

Nitwit, Ringo? Unlike Bush, I’m pretty sure that Reid can spell “cat” without having to be spotted the “c” and the “t.”

  14. shane Says:

Dick Cheney needs to give Harry Reid a bionic wedgie.

    Comment by Ringo

Dick Cheney’s heart couldn’t stand the exertion of pulling on somebody’s underwear. The only thing physical he can handle is that sneer.

    Comment by Ringo — July 24, 2007 @ 7:32 pm

The only reason you republicans touch another man’s underwear is to get at the goods, but I don’t need to tell you that now do I?

What is it with you Republicans thinking a dumb president is a good thing. Or are you all so stupid you can’t see he’s dumb?

Wow, I haven’t heard that since the third grade.

  20. AboveTheClouds Says:

It will be fun to see how what’s left of “conservatives” in America deal with all the power Cheney and Gonzales have given the Executive once that Executive is Hillary Clinton. That will be priceless!

You’re ‘with’ Hitchens eh? Shall we add atheist to republican troll as one of your traits as well?

  24. Pat Says:

It never ceases to amaze me how fu(king stupid these repugs are. Not only stupid, but fearful of ole Harry…he must be doing something right to have them in such a tizzy.

  25. Ringo Says:

I think athieism is perfectly defendable position and there are many athiests that I respect.

  26. Ringo Says:

Before you all jump on me for my spelling inversion I’ll fix it: atheism

    There we go.

  27. Namtillaku Says:

I was an athiest for many years.

    Comment by Ringo — July 24, 2007 @ 7:52 pm

I read no further than this. I’ll add superstitionista to the list as well as: buggerer, republican, and troll as things I don’t respect about you.

  28. VerbalKint Says:

The GOP is simply desperate. Nobody will be voting for or against Reid in 2008 except those few who live in his district. And Reid is too boring, too bland, to ever make into an effective bogeyman. The only thing Republicans will accomplish is highlighting their own failures.

  29. cosmosis Says:

Hey Ringo: you should love Reid, he just raised your minimum wage today.

  30. VerbalKint Says:

    I’m with Christopher Hitchens
    Comment by Ringo — July 24, 2007 @ 7:42 pm

Hitchens is a pathetic drunk fool who simply cannot admit that he was wrong about Bush and the war. He would rather descend into the gutter than admit it, and the gutter is precisely where he is now coming in for a landing.

    Hey, I resemble that remark!

The “right wing” (Read: Real America) is going to launch a co-ordinated effort against Reid? I’m in! Where do I sign up?

From the looks of things, we “trolls” might be close to running the blogs here at TP! But then, alas, we all have jobs to go to. We don’t have the luxury of sitting at our computers screens 24/7….the “NutRoots” will re-take the blogs in our absense….but ain’t it fun??

  38. fillphil Says:

Typical BS! Anything the repubs comment on that supposely is criticism of the Demos can easily be redirected at them. They really are speaking about themselves. This is true of all their criticisms. Remove the commenter’s name from most articles and they fit the repubs to a “T”!

  39. had enough Says:

Trolls… you are making real fools of yourself on this one…
What can Reid do as the republicans are obstructing business? The masses are catching on to this so all your rhetoric and spin only make you look foolish. Apparently the obstructionists want their 110-th congress to resemble the 109th do noting republican led congress.

Too bad republicans… you are going down as the federalists did and for similar reasons.

  40. Namtillaku Says:

Sorry if you can’t understand english…they have remedial classes for that! No child left behind, ya’ know…..

    Comment by O. Bigfoot — July 24, 2007 @ 8:14 pm

I do understand what you were trying to say, just that your comments are a waste. First you told us that you’re for the republicans going after Reid. Check. I’m with you on that one. But you don’t need to post it here - your opinion holds no weight, not just because you are a monkey wearing pants, nope, because you’re an obvious authoritarian and we all know where you stand before you even think of it.

Second, republican trolls running the blogs here at TP? Nice, so you’re saying that you agree with TP right? Since you obviously don’t know, the ‘blogs’ that you speak of are the words way up at the top, written by those at TP. Idiot.

  41. oldtree Says:

Wait until Mr. Reid says something really shocking. Maybe, liar, crook, conspirator, traitor, war criminal…..
then they can blow smoke out their collective sphincter

  42. Guy Fawkes Says:

A number of posters both here and other progressive blog sites complain too that the Democrats in Congress are inept and aren’t doing anything because they can’t muster enough votes to override Bush’s vetoes or impeach him and are calling for their removal and replacement by people who are even more left wing. Sounds to me like they secretly serve the Dark Lord himself in the WH.

  43. Namtillaku Says:

    Comment by Guy Fawkes — July 24, 2007 @ 8:26 pm

I’m going to reserve my judgment on that until the Democrats are truely in power. You can’t blame the Democrats for not being able to muster the votes to override a veto, they do require republicans votes for that, but you know that.

However, they CAN be blamed for not bringing up impeachment, and generally moving too slow on legal proceedings. I’m hopeful and doubtful at the same time.

  44. chadwick Says:

I’ve got some harsh language regarding Bush: Impeach. Convict. Hang.

  45. katy Says:

it’s gonna be a long, bumpy ride, folks…

    the CONSTITUTIONAL democracy
you better hope that we get a DEMOCRATIC
president, and some more dem congress people…

  46. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

    Harry Reid is a ass.

    Comment by Ringo

Meaningless comment, but hey, it’s Ringo! What else is new?

    (Psst… Ringo… Mr P? Poolhouse sixish?)

  47. the fly-man/ W is 4 WEAK Says:

The truth of the matter is folks the conservatives may just have to flounder until they succumb to the fact that their little war mongering faction has cost the GOP the White House to either a woman or a black man. That has got to hurt. So what’s a misogynistic party of white boys to do? Either get brutal or set up a patsy to blame in the name of loyalty. Neither one is pretty.

  48. kelso Says:

The Washington Times writes, “Senate Republicans are preparing to take aim at Majority Leader Harry Reid ”
    ————–
And we at the Washington Times editorial board will do everything possible to amplify those Republican talking points as loud and repetatively as we can, as will countless other newspapers and TV pundits. How else can we prove that we are not part of the ‘liberal media’?

  49. kelso Says:

Next bill up for vote right after recess will be a vote on:

No Permanent Military Bases in Iraq.

Let’s see the pro-colonization republicans squirm their way out of that one with a filibuster threat.

  50. Zooey Says:

    TP commenters,

Must we join the trolls in feeding on our own?

Sure, Reid has disappointed us, but does that mean we have to publicly throw him under the bus?

It makes the trolls, and the WH crime machine, very happy.

  51. Namtillaku Says:

I’m surprised at you Zooey. I for one believe that Democrats aren’t doing enough to bring down this criminal administration, and it’s quite possible that they are complicit! Trolls here are an opportunity, #1 - to expose the baseness of the authoritarian attitude, and #2 to talk about the issue at hand.

If republicans turn up the heat on Reid by claiming he is ‘all talk and no action’, they are doing the lords work. You know why? Because Reid is all talk and no action, that’s why. Impeachment off the table, my ass.

  52. Martha Stewart Says:

It would be great if Reid came out in favor of impeachment. But my understanding is that the actual process of impeachment occurs in the House.

  53. Ψ Says:

Wow, look at all those ‘bills’ and ‘resolutions’. This IS bigtime!

Meanwhile the dems claim that 99.9% of Americans want us out of Iraq and yet they fail to bring up the most obvious manner in which to stop the war: defunding.

As long as all these listed accomplishment belong to the dems, you get the failures too, number one being the FAILURE to stop the war. America wants and demands it, so say the libs, so do it and stop puffing around the issue. Cowards.

  54. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Martha Stewart sez:

It would be great if Reid came out in favor of impeachment. But my understanding is that the actual process of impeachment occurs in the House.

Impeachment starts in the House, and concludes in the Senate.

If impeachment proceedings were introduced in the House, and all Representatives votes along strictly party lines, I believe there would be enough votes to start the process. No doubt, the obstructionist Repukes in the Senate would work very hard to insure that any impeachments would not result in a conviction, but just having the process would bring a lot of sordid facts to light.

    So why isn’t this happening?

    Nancy Pelosi

By unilaterally declaring impeachment proceedings to be “off the table”, she has shown herself to be a traitor to the American people, and complicit in this administration’s awful crimes.

  55. Ψ Says:

    Impeach. Convict. Hang.

    Scanning…scanning…..hmmm.

    Lets try infrared…scanning…nope.

    How about invisible ink…scanning….scanning…still nothing.

Its official, this post does NOT contain the word “trial”.

Kim Jong Il would be proud of you!

  56. Namtillaku Says:

Thanks for the lesson Martha, you are a dear. BTW - love the picture on Wired Magazine. I didn’t know you were a gamer (nudge nudge, wink wink).

I seriously doubt that impeachment is a viable option - again with the votes, but congress (Reid, Pelosi - any of those with access to the bully pulpit) need to constantly reminding the American public of BushCo’s lies, and attempts to subvert the constitution. A dialog is what I seek.

  57. Jack Jett Says:

It is times like this that we, as net activist must counter these attacks where ever we find them with the facts.

We all know what the poster meant. Your post is tantamount to criticizing someone for a misspelling - nice job, I guess you win?

  59. Martha Stewart Says:

I rather thought the “Convict” part implied “Trial”. Silly me.

  60. Martha Stewart Says:

Sorry, I wasn’t paying close enough attention. Ignore my last post.

Meanwhile the dems claim that 99.9% of Americans want us out of Iraq and yet they fail to bring up the most obvious manner in which to stop the war: defunding.

The Senate does not have the 60 required votes to defund. That, it seems, should be obvious. Presidents Bush and Cheney own this war as do their supporters. Trading blood for oil. You get to live with that. Others had to die for that.

  62. Zooey Says:

    Comment by Namtillaku — July 24, 2007 @ 9:50 pm

I don’t disagree with you, Namtillaku, I just hate making trolls happy.

  63. pathetic Says:

Pot calling the kettle black. It is the Republicon way. It’s called projection. Whatever they are accusing Democrats of, they are heavily engaged in. They are liars, cheats, thieves, sex deviants, election stealers, haters, and bigots. And all of you paid bloggers can just go home now because I don’t even read you.

  64. Gerald Gibson Says:

Well Mr. Reid… got the balls to call off August recess and then spend that time bashing bush? Make them pay for even thinking that they have any credibility left.

  65. Karim Says:

The republi-cons will never pull it off. The American people are too smart.

  66. JD Says:

What if… they are just playing the good cop and bad cop trick?
The good dems vs the bad repubs…
But, maybe, they are just all the same bunch of rich politicians trying to take over the country. The dems would be just there to “buffer”/calm our reaction to this takeover.
The trick is to make people believe there is only 2 choices, either dems or repubs… when in fact there is only one choice…
    Ahhh, the utopic democracy!
In my country, it’s the same; we have the choice between black and very black…

  67. nofltwlt Says:

Hopefully the Dems (once in power) will dog Rove to the ends of the earth seeking criminal charges. Now that’s something I think tax payers should support just to set the record straight.

  68. Menehune Says:

Sen. Reid, after speaking with his constituents and conducting a few focus groups decided he deplored these attacks on his character. The non-binding resolution politely asking the right wing to act “nice” is forthcoming.

  69. Flaco Says:

Harry Reid is a frail old man.
No need to attack him he is an incompetent fool.
    Dem leader = oxymoron
