Well no they can’t take back the surge.
But apparently if they continue funding the surge, do nothing to decrease the troop levels already there and merely pass legislation to not to have an additional surge, you’ll “scream a big WAY TO GO.”

Kinda like you’ve just done for them doing the same thing in regard to prohibiting more permanent military bases that nobody is asking for anyway.

That’s a creative way of acknowledging that you’re unable to criticise any blatant spin here, no matter how obvious it is.

Even if this bill becomes a law, the Bush administration will call these bases “enduring”, “persistent”, or anything other than “permanent”.

Because it doesn’t matter what the House intents, approves, or states; the Bush administration is not known for following the rules or abiding the law; whether domestic or international.

At any rate, the Bush administration will simply keep moving the goal posts -as they have for the past four years- to continue the occupation of Iraq. Until someone finds a way to make this White House comply with the spirit of the law, any further legislation is toothless.

Well, that window of opportunity is totally gone. We’ve spent $500 Billion dollars, destroying that country and we won’t see the Iraqi people accepting our presence in our country in my lifetime. Too bad, too. They were the most secular, progressive society in the mid-east. What if we had simply worked a deal to buy their oil reserves for that pricetag? We may have solidified our control of the oil while keeping the RW religious fundies from creating their dream of a pan-Islamic Caliphate. Probably could have made Saddam an offer he couldn’t refuse, as well….given that he was a defanged old tyrant with no real options to disagree.

But the Greedy Oil Party had other delusions. Why anyone would think Dick Cheney and George Bush knew what they were doing in this hostile takeover of Iraqi National Oil obviously never checked their business or military backgrounds.

So, we’re out a Trillion or so, have a broken army, and still have no coherent energy/security plan. Damn shame that cancer wasn’t known as Al Qaeda….we lose 600,000 Americans/year to that terrorist….
