“I’m 76 years old, and pretty soon I’m going to a place where there are no blogs,” said conservative pundit Robert Novak at an American Spectator breakfast on Thursday morning. Speaking of the land beyond, Novak added, “All presidents look better after they’re dead, and George W. Bush can count on that.”

““All presidents look better after they’re dead, and George W. Bush can count on that.â€
HAHAH
Hard to count on anything when you are dead.
Further, is Hoover looking better now than when he helped drive the country in to the Great Depression?
Richard Nixon?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:39 amNo blogs in Hell?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:40 amNovak and other Republicans just seem to HATE public discourse. If Rupert Murdoch could buy up all the bloggers and pay them to lie and spin, then Novak would be gleefully happy. Ignorance is bliss, old man.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:40 amhttp://www.firedoglake.com/ 2007/ 07/ 26/ late-nite-fdl-a-whole-new-level-of-horror/
So blog this! Maybe this link was provided last night on one of the threads but I’ve been receiving links like this all morning. This is beginning to look very, very criminal. One has to wonder: if this was murder, then who ordered the hit?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:41 amThat’s all he can say about GW? He’ll look better when he’s dead? ouch.
No blogs in Hell? Bill O’Rielly is going to be upset.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:42 amHe doesn’t like the blogs because they make his inane drivel so insignificant. And hey Bob…chimpy will look no better dead than alive…he’ll still be THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!
July 27th, 2007 at 10:42 am#3 - it’s not just the public discourse. It’s the fact-checking and accountability that drive them batty. They’re finally being judged on their record, and that’s intolerable to them.
Same holds for pseudo-liberal Liebercrats like Joe Klein.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:44 am“All presidents look better after they’re dead…”
Ten times zero is still zero.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:44 amI can sort of understand his point. Blogs are often nothing but unfiltered and uninformed junk talk - complete with conspiracy theorists, trolls and in general just people who don’t know what they’re talking about.
At least in the traditional press, there’s some decorum and people usually have to show some credibility in form of a degree or profession to get taken seriously.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:46 amIf you don’t like blogs, don’t read them.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:47 amSo Robert Novak thinks George Bush would look better dead? What an awful thing to say! He should be ashamed!
July 27th, 2007 at 10:47 amTo Novak - you assume that HELL has no blogs. Well surprise surprise !
July 27th, 2007 at 10:48 amI don’t know how many bloggers he’ll find, but he certainly is going to a place where there is at least one bloviating hack who doesn’t know what journalistic integrity is.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:49 am#10: I’m just picky when it comes to blogs. There are good blogs that manage to keep the uninformed drivel and trolling to a minimum. DailyKos is a good example of this. No trolls, no conspiracy theories, no Cindy Sheehan hysteria and so on. Just the facts, jack.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:49 am“At least in the traditional press, there’s some decorum and people usually have to show some credibility…”
hahahahhaha…woooooooooow now that some kind of funny!

July 27th, 2007 at 10:50 amThey hate bloggers and will do everything in their power to malign us because they are CRIMINALS and “lefty blogs” are exposing them and providing the facts to prove they are CRIMINALS. I want assurance from the NEXT admin. that EVERY CRIME will be prosecuted when he/she is in office. Not ONE of these slimeball Hitler wannabes should avoid prison. Sure let them run the clock out on his Presidency, then he will not have the POWER to excuse any more of his criminal buddies like he did for Libby. He even tried to preemtively pardon Miers for her incredible contempt of Congress! I want them ALL to be tried and imprisoned for their crimes against mankind for engaging us in an illegal war, and for ALL the crimes they have committed domestically by criminally planting partisan theocons into positions of power illegally and for their rigging of elections in the past. His presidency should be NULLIFIED in the history books as the PROOF that he stole the election in 2004 has already been documented and Conyers collected that VETTED evidence from the BBC a few months back. No way should any of them be pardoned or commuted or in any way allowed to avoid paying for their crimes against the American people and our Constitution.
” when tyrrany comes it will arrive wrapped in a flag and carrying a Bible”
James Madison
boy was he ever right about that one, now we have these horrible criminals running our govt.
The axis of evil is the BUSH administration, the ENEMY IS WITHIN.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:51 am“All presidents look better after they’re dead, and George W. Bush can count on that.â€
And none too soon!
July 27th, 2007 at 10:52 amhe’s going to hell.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:52 amAt least in the traditional press, there’s some decorum and people usually have to show some credibility in form of a degree or profession to get taken seriously.

Taken seriously - something you can only long for, Boudin…
July 27th, 2007 at 10:53 amYes Bob… you’ll be going there soon. For my part, I’ll be happy to stay in a place where there’s no Bob Novak.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:53 am“At least in the traditional press, there’s some decorum and people usually have to show some credibility…â€
You might want to do a little research on who all those “credible” people are and how they get into those positions. How did you decide they were credible? Because the other people on the same network say they are? Ask yourself how correct those people have been for the last six years.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:54 amWhen testing for credibility it sometimes help to follow the money.

So, Mr P. it’s all set. Wayne’s daughter is up for the match, we’ve got more than enough backers to cover the airfare. When can you fly out for the event?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:55 amThat bastard can’t get there soon enough for me.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:56 amI cannot wait for that day as well. I’ll will be away from all sin.

Good point Emerald, good point. Tony Snow is a good example. How did Tony get his job?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:57 amIs there any chance Bob can leave soon for no-blog-land?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:57 am“I’ll will be away from all sin.”
Try to construct sentences that make sense, it makes it so much more enjoyable for the reader.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:57 amNovak is going to face the searing light of the Sun?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:58 amshow some credibility in form of a degree or profession to get taken seriously
As I said, a person with an academic degree or a professional opinion is far more credible than some jackass mouthing off and copy-pasting links to some vague web sites.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:58 amBoudin Bob seems to fundamentally misunderstand the difference between blogs and blog comments. BillO, is that you?
July 27th, 2007 at 10:59 amYou know Daryll if you moved to a deserted island, with no other inhabitants, you would be free of sin there as well. Unless the goats started looking good =P
July 27th, 2007 at 10:59 amlike novak’s article in the wapo this week, clearly the man longs for his subclass of beltway elites to be immune from anything unpleasant.
novak is a jerk, but his reporting on republicans is actually pretty useful. he still doesn’t think he did anything wrong in the plame case, but i get the idea he shares one significant trait with gwb - the inability to admit mistakes.
July 27th, 2007 at 10:59 amDoesn’t Dubya have a degree? Well so much for that theory.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:00 am“I’m 76 years old, and pretty soon I’m going to a place where there are no blogs,â€
And pretty soon, we’ll all be in a place where there is no Robert Novak.
One down, but so many more to go…
July 27th, 2007 at 11:00 amI got a degree, you no!
July 27th, 2007 at 11:00 amAs I said, a person with an academic degree or a professional opinion is far more credible than some jackass mouthing off and copy-pasting links to some vague web sites.
Comment by Boudin Bob — July 27, 2007 @ 10:58 am
At least you didn’t write “more credible than some jack-ace mouthing off”.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:00 am#18, your quote has three significant errors: it wasn’t “tyranny”, it was “fascism”. It’s not “Bible”, it’s “cross”. And it’s not “James Madison”, it’s “Sinclair Lewis”.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:02 amBoudin Bob seems to fundamentally misunderstand the difference between blogs and blog comments
Uh. No. Blogs are supposed to keep the nuts under control, too. Did you notice that I mentioned DailyKos as an example of a good blog?
July 27th, 2007 at 11:02 amhye boudin bob, if you believe that MSM is “professional” you are really a fool.
The MSM contributed to this criminal conspiracy going on in the WH and the DOJ by NOT doing THEIR JOB PROFESSIONALLY.
The “professional” news media are nothing more that brown nosing hacks who are COMPLICIT in war crimes and COMPLICIT in crimes against the people of America. They didn’t even REPORT that Miers had the AUDACITY to not show up in Congress. YOU CAN NOT CLAIM PRIVILEGE UNLESS YOU SHOW UP.
You fools who support this criminal admin. are ENEMIES of America. You are all guilty of TREASON just like the President.
The depth of depravity this admin. has brought us to are sickening and will go down in history as the WORST admin. in the history of our country. It will take us decades to undo the damage done to our country but NOTHING can rectify the devastation and lives lost in this ILLEGAL war that was waged for PROFIT.
It turns my stomach when I see you blind fools supporting these LIARS who are doing all they can to bring down the Constitution for their OWN GAIN.
Im glad the CIA is working with other countries to bring WAR CRIME charges against them all. It takes awhile, but just like with Mislovic, they will eventually catch up and Bush and Cheney will be sitting in that bullet proof box just like Saddam did because they are as much of a criminal as Saddam was. Bush and Cheney are BOTH terrorists. They use the Bible as a shield for their crimes and Jesus weeps.
they are ZEALOTS just like bin Laden, no matter what form a ZEALOT comes in, be he Islamic, Christian, whatever they are equally bad, if there is a hell, they all belong there, Novak will be there with them.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:04 amBoudin Bob sez:
Credible to you perhaps, but the fact-based community places more emphasis on reliably reporting the fact in a clear and unbiased manner than they do on meaningless degrees and quasi-professional opinions.
It doesn’t take a degree to tell the truth. All it takes is the truth and enough integrity to speak it.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:04 amYeah, you’re probably right Bob. No blogs where you’re going. I would advise you to dress cool. Kinda warm there, I hear.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:04 am#9 - So do you think Robert Nowak spends his time surfing the net reading Masonic conspiracy blogs, and is driven so insane by them that he now hates life?
Surely you’re not talking about the front page of Kos, Atrios, Digby, TPM. I find a great responsibility in getting the facts straight before they post something. And when they get it wrong, they leave it up there and add a correction.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:05 amGood. Hurry your traitorous ass up.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:09 amas long as I am alive I will make sure NO ONE forgets about George The Douche
July 27th, 2007 at 11:11 amThe blogging issue and arument that just anyone can employ free speech for anything is a flimsy. What O’Lielly and others of his ilk are doing is insulting the intelligence of the audience. Oh, those that tune into his show or to the blogs are blind sheep to be influenced and have no thinking capabilities whatsoever? My goodness, he counts on people being dumb, blind sheep as his audience!
Take back intelligence. People should be critical consumers of their literature.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:12 amI see you like style over substance. Would you care for a $hit sandwich? Our stylist has made it very appealing looking.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:12 amTrue enough, my cut and paste was inaccurate, it should have said Sinclair Lewis, the quote I MEANT to post was
“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
James Madison
but BOTH quotes from BOTH men are very relevent to our current dire issues.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:13 amWeh should have put all these bastids in JAIL for their crimes during Watergate and Iran Contra, we are paying for that now, the same criminals, a different time.
All of them should be in PRISON.

You really do have a different Bible than the rest of us, Daryll.

July 27th, 2007 at 11:19 amDaryll sez:
Whenever I hear the Fundies’ description of Heaven, I actually laugh out loud. Why the hell would the furnishings be made out of materials that are precious here on earth? Is God that vain?
For that matter, why are “gates” and “streets” even necessary? The Fundies’ childish conception of the afterlife underscores neatly their childish conception of God.
Let me tell you something, Daryll. If Robert Novak is going to be in your “Heaven”, I want no part of it. But something tells me he’s not going to make the cut.

Aside from your bending over backwards to excuse the MSM at the expense of the dirty f*cking hippies in the lefty blogosphere, you fail to acknowledge that once a journalist has a degree and IS “taken seriously”, there seems to be practically NOTHING that he can do to destroy his credibility thereafter.
Novak is a perfect example of this.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:20 amGodspeed, Novakula.

July 27th, 2007 at 11:26 amHe says that he is going to ‘A place where there are no blogs’…Novak will not be able also to find CNN,MSNBC,Fox and others to hang around, and get paid handsomely.
The pundits fear that bloggers are stealing their viewers, and more viewers are spending more time on their computers and people like Novak are worried about they might be forgotten soon.
O’Reilly and others also constantly attacking bloggers..for the same reasons…
The brainwash game they have for television viewers is getting out of hand for these pundits…

In all seriousness, help me out Daryll. The furnishings seem nice and I am all about the peace and serenity part but what do you do all day in this place. Can I have shellfish, great sex, sleep late, wander around in the nude, belch, fart, scratch or anything else that is pleasing to me? You can’t just be in some weird ill defined oneness with the creator because again that would make the roads and gates and such unneeded. Oh and mantains those roads? How’s the winter driving on gold?
July 27th, 2007 at 11:44 amLet’s hope he leaves sooner rather than later!
July 27th, 2007 at 11:46 amMr. Novak is a Catholic I heard him say so on television. Now the Catholic church teaches many heresies with the main one being “works” for your salvation. Another being that Catholics pray to Mary thereby violating the First Amendment that says,” thou shall have no other gods before me”. So if Mr. Novak believes like the Catholic Church believes, perhaps it will not be as peaceful or cool as he now thinks.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:47 amSo Novak’s looking forward to going someplace where there are no blogs? Egad — he must absolutely HATE free speech!
If he’s going to a gulag, I’m surprised it hasn’t hit the news…

July 27th, 2007 at 11:53 amI love watching these so called “journalists” OLielly or Novak, go ape sh!t over the fact that the “blogsphere” is exposing them and PROVING IT. The fact based community, which thankfully is the MAJORITY of Americans, now have a LEGITIMATE source for news. Like anything, there is good and bad on the net, but one extremely great aspect is the FACT that CREDIBLE, HIGHLY EDUCATED and PROFESSIONAL people have blogs. Of course, plenty of IDIOT LIARS have blogs too, but Americans for the most part are smart and they can figure out the difference. For all Billy’s complaining about Media Matters, he can not, in ANY INSTANCE, prove them wrong because they tell the TRUTH. The TRUTH is what bothers all the loyal Bushies and their supporters because it exposes them for the immoral criminals they are.
July 27th, 2007 at 11:58 amAny thinking person can check out the facts for themselves when they read news in a blog. Some talking head teleprompter reader doesn’t have any credibility to me abecause they ALL LIED TO ME about the war. They all failed to REPORT THE NEWS so that We the People could decide FOR OURSELVES. They just SIT THERE while Tony Snow lies through his teeth and don’t even CHALLENGE him! The hearing showing First Kuwaiti ( contractor on the iraq embassy) was using slave labor and KIDNAPPING their workers and the mdia doesn’t even COVER IT ON THE NEWS!
They aren’t professionals, they have caved to this regime, just like media did with Hitler.
That is why people have turned to the internet for REAL INFORMATION.
True, you have to sort through the idiot posts, but you have to deal with idiots every day OFF the internet too, so big deal. Bill Olielly is just another rethug WIMP who can’t handle a few cuss words or moronic posts and he definately can’t HANDLE THE TRUTH. He should read his OWN site if he wants to see an idiot blog site.
Is Novak really going to heaven? I wouldn’t count your chickens on that yet, Traitor Bob.

Novak is using the old age card for support. Novak will get the best interviews from people like Hitler, Judas and others famous evil dead people. Yes hell has alot of people for Novak to talk to. Novak has made Satan proud of his work by allowing thousands of young soldiers die based on the lies Novak helped support. How do you explain you leaked a CIA agents name but didn’t know it. Like Judas, Novak took the money for a job well done. To bad he will not be able to see the brave young soldiers he killed as their in Heaven. Jesus gave all of us a choice between good and evil, Novak chose evil. He can look forward to his friends joining him to bad he can’t take sun block.
July 27th, 2007 at 1:15 pmI for one, am ready for Bush to start looking better, he couldn’t look much worse. Maybe he could pick up a clue and get that “looking better” thing going sooner rather than later.

July 27th, 2007 at 1:56 pmWhat a moronic sack of crap Novak is. The world of journalism will be a far better, more ethical place when this Republican sacklicker kicks the bucket (which we can only hope happens soon). The world as a whole will benefit from his loss.

Syphilis, also, looks better after it’s dead. Polio, malaria, diphtheria? Yep, they too look better after they’re dead. (Funny how that works.) All things ugly look better after they’re gone. Why, Bob, I’ll bet even you’ll look better after you’re dead, by George.

July 28th, 2007 at 4:25 amThe sooner Bush “looks better,” the better off the country will be, except that Cheney will need to “look better” even sooner than Bush. Nacy Pelosi would make a great acting President until either Hillary or Obama takes office in January 2009.
July 28th, 2007 at 4:32 amNovak’s heaven; “A place where there are no blogs” is none other than hell. — And it is a place where he belongs.
July 28th, 2007 at 5:32 amDefinitely. In the ninth circle of hell, traitors give handjobs and other sorts of “jobs” to Satan himself. And Satan needs lot’s ‘o satisfyin’. And no, there is no internet. You’ll be much too busy, “Bob”! LOLOLOLOL!!!
July 28th, 2007 at 12:07 pmI’m so happy for you, Bob, and wish you God speed.
July 28th, 2007 at 2:37 pmNovak and other Republicans just seem to HATE public discourse.
Comment by Republicans Can’t Govern. — July 27, 2007 @ 10:40 am
Nope, just the hateful, intolerant, liberal kind of public discourse. ;)
July 29th, 2007 at 1:13 amWell, I DO agree with Novak in this regard: Bush WILL look better when he’s dead for two reasons:
1. He won’t be consuming air.
2. He won’t be contributing to air pollution.
Cheers!
July 29th, 2007 at 7:38 amIt used to be that the MSM would put a bunch of right wing conservative pundits on the air who would spew dishonest crap, while a slightly less conservative person would agree with most of the crap but dispute a minor detail here and there all while being called “liberal.” And there would be no voices to get the truth out.
Now, the MSM still does the same thing but people have access to the Internet and millions of Americans read the opinions of bloggers and posters, do some of their own research, and the vast majority conclude that the MSM is full of shit. So the MSM is losing viewers by the day and people like Bob Novak are pissed that opposing viewpoints are being expressed and when an opposing viewpoint is expressed, the Novaks of the world lose all influence.
Well Bob, if there’s a Hell, you can have the no blog section of the inferno.
