“If voting could change things they’d make it illegal.”

The 2000 elections proved our system was broken. We’ve had seven years to put in place a verifiable uniform process and nothing has been done. If anything it’s gotten worse. Think, how fricking hard can it be to place a vote and have it counted properly? This isn’t rocket-science. Yet all efforts to fix this problem have been abandoned. Even the simple things like voting on Saturday or scrapping the antiquated Electoral College haven’t been addressed.

Now I ask you, with this obvious evidence of corruption of our election system what makes anyone think the next election won’t be rigged? Government of the people my ass.

“Those that vote don’t count those that count the votes do.” Stalin.

This country is a farce. We don’t even have a country. We have multi-mega-international corporations that own our government who put on a Dog (Dems) & Pony (Repubs) Show to give us the illusion we have some say in the affairs at hand. And the ignorance of the public to keep falling for this charade would be laughable it wasn’t so tragic.

The Founding Fathers warned us against everything we’ve turned into. We’re not even a Democracy. We weren’t meant to be. We’re a Republic, or at least we use to be. The FF warned against political parties. They warned against a standing army. They warned against foreign intervention. They warned against career politicians. They warned against a centralized bank. And they warned us that this fragile system of government could be easily taken over from within by forces directly opposed to all that the Constitution implies.

They warned us against all these things and we failed - miserably.

Brass:

2004 v. 2006? Yes, I think that the Repubs did fail to cage. I think they thought they had it, (Kkkarl's math, remember?) and they lacked the personnel. For example, I worked the courthouse in a major eastern city for the state Democratic committee during both elections. In 2004 the Repub lawyers were there in force, trying to impound machines, deny voters (who often had legal photo id, leases, gas bills etc,) etc. In 2006 they sent a junior associate and never raised an eyebrow.

Given the poor databases maintained by most election bureaus, and the very common names on these lists, I think that voter caging is tantamount to an illegal conspiracy to violate the federal and state election laws.

P.S. most states do not bar felons from voting. So your comment about criminals is, for the most part, not on point.

The gremlins like to make up stuff as they go along. Bush kicked their ass in 2004, so the gremlins have to make up some reason why. Notice that the gremlins don’t point to any “caging” in ‘06. What happened, the GOP forgot to cage?

Comment by Brassmask from 3DHS — July 29, 2007 @ 3:55 pm

The GOP may or may not have engaged in voter caging in 2006. It's possible that they engaged in voter caging, and just couldn't weed out enough Dem votes. Hey, you can't disenfranchise everyone.

Some possibilities:
1) There were a lot of angry voters who planned to vote Democratic -- too many to shake out of the system by caging.
2) Many voters who lived in white suburban areas (unlikely to be hit by caging) were dissatisfied with the way things have been going in Washington and switched from Rep to Dem in their voting.
3) Determined voters who got hit with the "fraudulent voter" charge stepped up, challenged back, and got reinstated. Yes, the election was that important.
4) Any combination of the above.

Note I only said these are possibilities. I don't like to make accusations without some kind of evidence. We do have some evidence that caging went on in 2004, as outlined by the PBS show. The only evidence of caging in 2006 is that pre-election polls pointed to on overwhelming victory by the Democrats (http://www.pollingreport.com/2006.htm) and while both houses did switch to the Dems, the margin of seats was closer than the polls suggested they might be. Raises suspicions, but not irrefutable (but where there's smoke, there's usually fire, so stay tuned -- stuff is still shaking out).

And regarding your other point -- Bush did not "kick ass" in 2004, he won narrowly. If you don't know what a proper ass-kick looks like, check out Roosevelt vs. Landon (1936), Johnson vs. Goldwater (1964), Reagan vs. Mondale (1984).

Thanks, Flakehead, for telling me that I am neurotically obsessed with a matter that has seldom passed through my mind. Yes, I am sure that you know better than I what obsesses my liberal friends and me.

"With so many felons being Democrats, the party might want to think about changing its mascot from a donkey to a jailbird.

Needless to say, Democrats are neurotically obsessed with restoring the right to vote to felons. But the ex-cons themselves rarely express any interest in regaining this particular right. What ex-cons want is the right to own a gun. "Felons," Lott says, "who frequently live in poor, high-crime neighborhoods, want to be able to defend themselves."

Way to go Mr. President

You got that right. Between the left's utter stupidity; bUSH's complete incompetance, ignoring the Constitution, claiming Executive privelage on anything that he is questioned on; I don't believe I will ever vote again. Both parties can go screw, they bring nothing to the table.

Don't whine about being banned from a blog. I spoke against the Imus firing and the "fairness doctrine" on the democrats.org blog and after 2 posts was banned. I used absolutely no foul language whatsoever. I chose another name, and again, after saying something along the lines of being against the fairness doctrine was bannished, this time for good. Here's the kicker, I (was) a Democrat. After that silencing of a differing opinion I am not.

I would like to go up to these people who sent and recieved these e-mails and ask them how they would feel if I went up to them and just decided, on my own, to pull their right to vote. That's it. Your vote doesn't count. Hell, you can't even vote. How do these people go to bed at night? How do they live with themselves? We all are taught right from wrong from when we are young kids. Don't they know its wrong. Just plain wrong. I wonder if these people will sit around when they are 75 yrs old and sitting in a nursing home thinking about what they have done in their lives and think about how wrong doing this is.

all the ugly, loudmouth, head up their arse losers from High School all are now thugs for the GOP.
Trolls who hang around here Im sure look like Jonah Goldberg and Rove. Ever notice how these creeps all resemble each other? Ugly creeps who never fit in and can't handle freedom of speech on their own sites, yet come here where we encourage free speech, even from these idiots.
They rigged elections and tried to force false voter fraud cases because they are LOSERS and they all know it. Why else do they have to lie and cheat to get into office?
They know on a level playing field, they will NEVER WIN AGAIN.

You can’t cut across the blather in Mr P’s mind. He’s a solipsistic fraud who only hears his own voices.

You didn't watch the video, did you, jackass. Try just once refuting something that they said in the program. It would be especially impressive if you could even back up your argument with facts. No, not some crap from NewsMax. Real honest to goodness facts. Good luck.

Pee, you are simultaneously saying that felons ARE liberals, and felons ARE smarter than liberals.

And, since there is absolutely no argument that liberals are smarter than non-liberals, felons are also smarter than non-liberals as well.
