Every time Republicans bring it up there will be the “Senate Ted Stevens, under an active FBI investigation, attacked …” They’ll assure us they’ll develop the Alaskan oil responsibly despite Alaskan Republican corruption.

Think they’ll find anything on oil company activities in Stevens office? That would be something.

Weren’t you just Dr. Dog? How do you keep track of all the aliases?

Suggestion to TP. Assign a unique key to each IP address here and include it with the poster name. That way, we can track all the variations of concerned supporters of Republican values. I suspect there’s only a 1/2 dozen or so RNC posters here. It will ultimately make their life easier as they won’t have to bother trying to cover their tracks.

Is it possible to be a Republican in federal office and not be either corrupted or blackmail-able? If today’s RNC is an organized crime syndicate, I can’t see where they’d want independent people with integrity in office. I think the deal is, you give us your vote and whatever you can steal or get away with, we’ll just look the other way. It’s certainly not the RNC that’s ratting out Ted.

“This criminal should resign right nowâ€¦then he and DeLay can go into business together at the Liar, Cheatum, and Steel law firm. What a combination.” I’m hearing that the new lawfirm of Doolittle, DeLay, and Ney will be representing Mr’ Stevens. They specialize in Republican public corruption cases. :-)

I switched by Fox News on my way to Countdown and heard on Fox that Sen. Stevens had advance notice of the search warrant. Yeah, I’d expect that from this DOJ. ‘Hey, we’re coming over with a search warrant so make sure you got all your incriminating stuff out of there!’

I could see Bush trying that. I think Harry Reid can see the possibility as well, and I bet he’d get enough people in town to get into session and prevent it.

I don’t know how many that would be, but I know I’ve heard Harry say something about doing that, specifically to prevent recess appointments.

Anybody watching Olbermann?
This is off topic, but Keith suggested that Bush could fire Gonzo or he could resign the end of this week as Congress goes off to their August recess, and then Bush could do a recess appointment of another AG without going through the Congressional approval.. Could that happen??

I thought Reid was leaving some caretaker Senators through the break so that there was no official “recess”. At least this was a strategy mentioned a few months ago.
