TV Newser reports CNN has offered conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a one-week guest-host gig for the 8pm ET slot vacated by Paula Zahn. Atrios says contact CNN and “Ask them if someone who told her listeners to jam a voter hotline is really someone appropriate for ‘The most trusted name in news.’”
WTF is CNN thinking giving that sack-o-crap a temp job?
July 31st, 2007 at 7:53 pmCD…..Temp Job? Olbermann has been full time at Countdown.
July 31st, 2007 at 7:55 pmI’d give Laura a one week gig, if ya know what I’m saying.

July 31st, 2007 at 7:56 pmI thought it quite peculiar that CNN would ‘try out’ such a warped minded person. What’s even more peculiar is the comment page on CNN when it asks:

Negative
Do they ‘dump’ the negative and collect the positive?
It always amazes me when the so called party of tolerance sets out on missions to silence the opposition.
Obviously CNN wants to try and chip away at Bill O’Rielly’s ratings, or they would not be attempting this. I personally don’t like Laura Ingraham, so I won’t watch her.
July 31st, 2007 at 8:03 pmI gave up on CNN when they signed up Glenn Beck. This is what we get when we allow our media to be owned by a small number of very rich people. The worst thing that Bill Clinton did during his administration was signing the Telecommunications Act, allowing for monopolies in our media.

So tell me Mr. Intolerant Dems – why do your right-wing websites not allow a progressive/liberal voice to be heard? I twice registered at redstate.com and twice they locked me out within an hour. And my sin? I stated an opposing viewpoint. So you think that Democrats are intolerant. Please tell me why you think that Republicans are tolerant. Can you direct me to any right wing website that allows a progressive/liberal to voice their opinions like you are allowed to do here?

July 31st, 2007 at 8:13 pmHmmm, as if Glenn Beck’s ratings weren’t low enough. So much for the lie that giving airtime to right wing propagandists was about the ratings. It’s just PR and lobbying for the Corporate Media and their lust for deregulation.
July 31st, 2007 at 8:13 pmKeith Olbermann has great ratings and makes MSNBC money. But of course, CNN doesn’t bother looking for a person like him. Only conservative talking heads on the so called “liberal network.” Yeah, right.

Actually yes, the broadcast spectrum is highly valuable public property that the Corporate Media gets to make a profit off of for peanuts. Being public property, the government, as the democratic instrument of the people, has a responsibility to ensure that it is used in the public, not private, interest. It belongs to the public and users should be obliged to give equal time to opposing opinions and not just right wing propaganda. If the Corporate Media refuses to use this public resource responsibly, then the license should be repealed and given to a more responsible party.

Why – so they can continue with their entertainment of LIES to the very ignorant. In contrast, left talk shows welcome you righties as constantly proving how ignorant you folks are leads to more entertainment and higher ratings. Some of the left show beg you guys to call in.

http://redstate.com/stories/culture/two_cheers_for_the_hypocrites#comment
July 31st, 2007 at 8:41 pmIt’s actually post 19. Here’s the post for those of you too lazy to go over:
Talk about hypocrites, you folks give the word “hypocrite” new meaning. You only believe in free speech for people who tow your party line. If anyone posts an opposing opinion on this site, their account is blocked and Redstate does something with their IP address to make it so the person can’t even read Redstate. All they get is a blank page.
So, what are you afraid of. If you think you are right, why don’t you allow opposing opinions? Why do you delete the accounts and block the IP addresses of people who post an opposing view on your site.
Liberals believe in free speech for everyone. I don’t know of any liberal website that blocks people from posting other than when they get obscene or threatening. It makes a lot of the liberal sites rather annoying and messy, but that is the price the liberals are willing to pay to allow everyone the right to have their voice heard, no matter how inane that voice may be.
Countdown to this account deletion and IP blocking…..I’m betting on less than 30 minutes.

As for failure, you mean like how they were blocked from entering many lucrative markets by GOP controlled media conglomerates even though the listeners in those markets said they would listen?
Yeah, whatever. Put away the unicorns, and get real.
Revenues were coming in, but they overreached and overspent relative to the media access the wingnuts were permitting. You try starting an entire radio network against the prevailing efforts of an entire corporate structure bent on your downfall. Considering, they’ve done quite well. We’ll see what happens when they’re out of bankruptcy.
In the meanwhile, are are those friends of you and George at Enron doing? No revenues? Boycotts? Or are you just prone to smearing people that don’t think in unicorn terms?

The continued presence of Glenn Beck proves it’s not about the ratings. It is about the bottom line however. The Corporate Media has a vested financial interest in the fortunes of the Republican party and its ideology of deregulation. It’s all about the continued concentration of media into the hands of a few mega multinational corporations. By promoting right wing propaganda and excluding left wing criticism, the media is a powerful PR and lobbying tool for elite and corporate interests to effect the political system in their favor.

August 1st, 2007 at 4:18 pmhahhahaha enough already ummmm so you must be a michael savage listener you actually think someone can cause a seizure. they only way I have ever heard anyone being able to produce a seizure on damn is with overstimulation to the cerebal cortex and that only works 10% of the time. Liberals have conspiracy theories seems like your party has fantasies. As far as your illusions of the grandiose of Bush and Gonzales those comments and too stupid as to require elaboration.
August 1st, 2007 at 9:37 pmSo you folks say CNN can’t hire someone because they don’t think the way you do?
I object to CNN giving WarWhore Ingraham even 1 second of air time.
Is that clear enough?
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:43 amYou libtards wish you had the brains that Bill oreilly(SIC) has.
Just admitt(SIC) that Bush is doing a great Job(SIC).

No, CCDevil, I would never want a muddled mind like Bill O’Lielly’s and yours. Nor would I want your “writing skills,” either.
August 2nd, 2007 at 2:59 amBy “Job”–do you mean the Biblical character? If, on the other hand. you mean “job” in terms of work, yes, I’ll admit that Bush has been doing a great one in making the US more hated around the world and in recruiting even previously neutral Muslims in various countries to the Al Qaeda cause.
I think it’s a great idea. FAIRNESS DOCTRINE KICKIN THE LIBERALS IN THE ASS… HA HA HA POWER TO THE PEOPLE…..
August 3rd, 2007 at 10:57 amSo, what are you guys afraid of? CNN can read the handwriting on the wall. Their ratings are in the tank … They need a boost. After all, there is a talk radio station in LA that has higher prime time ratings than CNN, MSNBC and CNBC combined NATIONALLY. Why is that you think?
August 3rd, 2007 at 10:59 amLaura is great – but the rumor is false.
August 3rd, 2007 at 11:03 amShe is probably smarter, funnier, more educated and has more real life experience than any prompter-reading stuffed-suit at the network.
Ah, what a nice change! Sheesh, perhaps they could fire a good dozen or so of those left wing, kook fringed reporters @ CNN. Wolf must be bristling in his soft leather chair “God, please don’t let it be so! Laura Ingraham!!??” LOL, This should appeal to CNN’s staunch loyal islaminazi veiwers.
August 3rd, 2007 at 11:03 amIngraham: Making liberals look stupid since 1964.
August 3rd, 2007 at 11:03 amOh and I suppose the Left Coasters want Glenn Beck off the air too? So, I guess the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE only goes one way, towards the LEFT COAST??
POWER TO THE PEOPLE
August 3rd, 2007 at 11:11 amLora – In case you missed it (just one example) – France elected the PRO-American candidate in its last Presidential election. Do you just ignore the big facts of reality when they don’t support your POV? Does it feel just that f’ing good to screech your lies? I can understand that, but late at night, you know that President Bush is an honest guy and that just eats up your insides doesn’t it? FYI: One of the most popular baby names in Afghanistan now is “George”. Priceless.
August 3rd, 2007 at 2:46 pmPlease not the “shrill”……..
Put her on with Glen Beck. They deserve each other as well as compliment each other.
Just thinkhow they could agree with each other on hating people they disagree with.
August 4th, 2007 at 3:51 amBy the way,
How many conservative water carrying talking heads does the republicans need to keep their illusion. By finding and espousing to others who they should hate and why?
Its not about bbeing American with them. It is about being the republican guard for Bush.
Party first, American second or even third with some of these folks.
They spew hate so, not realizing the hateful raged confusion they cause their following to play out their hate in real life.
August 4th, 2007 at 4:05 amThis is quite amazing – the level of vitriol, ad hominem attacks, and general lack of information supporting positions reflects poorly on most of those posting here. This seems to be what Air America is catering to; everytime I listen I hear irrational rants unsupported by data and filled with logical errors. Occational useful bit of information do creep through to be broadcast, and a few hosts actually stick to the facts first with interpretation based on these. However this occurs so infrequently, AAR needs to be subsidized privately just to stay in bankruptcy. Then when an arguement is actually presented, only part of the issue is included. There’s an awful lot of this going on above, both sides but mostly the left. As to blogsite blockage, has not happened to me, nor have I noticed it. I do however find that liberal talk radio excludes or excoriates conservatives, while conservative talk radio, with some exceptions, engages all sides and at worst, pokes holes in their arguements. In addition the conservative voices roundly condem conservatives who lose the point of being conservative, while my experience has been that liberal voices usually try to find an excuse or claim that because some conservative did “it” its okay to do. Not the exclusive domain of liberals, but they seem to be the primary paractitioners.
