I heard Michael Medved on a local talk show. He was one of the trusted few who were invited to the audience with young George. He used the same confident/passionate line. They must have cooked it up during the meeting.

A caller asked for his take on the Alberto Gonzales mess. He said that it was only of interest to people inside the beltway. Hmmm… I was in my car in Baton Rouge LA. The caller was from Zachary LA. Inside the Gumbo-Beltway, maybe.

I can also point you to speeches by Powell and Rice, who said in 2001, only months before 9/11 (and before Bush & Co. said on 9/12 that they wanted to invade Iraq because they had better targets), that Iraq had been contained, they were no threat to the U.S. nor to their neighbors, and that while, yes, Saddam wanted to restart his WMD programs (which the Duelfer Report also indicates), he did not have the capacity to do so. Newsflash: the sanctions worked, and had been adjusted so that they could continue their effectiveness.

I dare you to go read the section “Strategic Intent” in the Duefler report and point out, with quotes from the report, the exact location where it says that Saddam wanted to attack America, or anything that resembles this kind of thinking. This, I think, would back you you and Bush’s claims about a “gathering threat.” On the contrary….if you can read, that is…you will find that the report indicates that the last thing Saddam wanted was to get into a military engagement with us. He knew that we could blow his army into oblivion. Read it, idiot. It’s right there in the report.

All while letting Afghanistan turn into the world’s leading drug dealing nation.

Yes, I do. It happened 9 months into Bush’s reign.

It is frequently waved around by the rightwing as if the deaths of 3000 Americans are some sort of victory to be applauded in the conservative president who, through blind incompetence, stupidity, negligence or malice, allowed it to happen.

I guess CNN is tired of being called Fox-Lite. Pressure must be on Beck to out-O’reilly O’Reilly. The topper will be when Ingraham starts to out-Coulter Coulter.

Mr. P., only in your imagination was Saddam “messing with us”. In the real world, he allowed hundreds of weapons inspectors into his country and they disarmed him of all WMD. Two studies done by Bush appointees said this.Would the US do this?

Would Israel?
Turkey, Kuwait, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Iran said Saddam was not a threat.

Can you give me another example in history where one small country has to totally disarm before being invaded and occupied by a power that spends 500 times as much on its military.
