Following the conclusion of tonight’s presidential forum, host Chris Matthews immediately began to focus on the pressing issues. He offered an array of trifling analysis that included musings about Sen. John Edwards’ height, Sen. Hillary Clinton’s use of the word “girl,” and Clinton’s Chicago accent. Watch it:

What pissed me off was the “proxy debate” between the representatives for Clinton, Obama, and Edwards.
Only Clinton, Obama, and Edwards.
Way to frame the debate, Tweety.
August 7th, 2007 at 9:40 pmObviously, either Clinton, Obama, or Edwards will be the Democratic nominee for President — no need to deny reality.
August 7th, 2007 at 9:44 pmPerhaps the dems need to exclude second tier candidates from any substantial debates.
August 7th, 2007 at 9:45 pmMatthews apparently bases his observations of a candidate’s fitness for the office of President on looks, smells, and elocution. I like to base mine on phrenology (if I can get close enough to touch the candidate’s head). Without that, I’m clueless.
August 7th, 2007 at 9:47 pmObviously, either Clinton, Obama, or Edwards will be the Democratic nominee for President — no need to deny reality.

Everyone knows that Chris Matthews wants Elizabeth Edwards and is clearly going after her husband in hopes that she’ll notice him!

August 7th, 2007 at 10:05 pmRoger, that.
August 7th, 2007 at 10:05 pmMatthews is frequently cringe-worthy, but tonight he was even more so. I only stayed tuned because Keith was supposed to join him, but that took too long and didn’t last very long.
It should also be noted how much Matthews was praising Keith’s performance — in a way that made it appear he thought he was Keith’s boss. Ugh.
Matthews has been washed up for years. When will MSNBC catch on to that?

i’ve thought from the beginning that it was the right wing
corporate media who has nominated hillary as the candidate
they want their guy to run against…
the people better get out in absolute droves to vote for a
“people’s candidate†to keep this country as the representative
governed, democratic republic that it was intended to be.
.
i regret that i missed seeing the debate, but did watch some of the
post game show… according to matthews, biden and dodd have
chosen hillary also… it’s a tag team…
and all the others are “going for second†now…
it’s such a manipulation…

So, where were we? Oh, yes, the Chris Matthews ruining another debate. Maybe we could start a campaign to mail him unwashed underwear, and he could do a show on who would make the better President - based on his exhaustive examination of the evidence. For all I know, it’s as good as Phrenology.

Indeed we truly have a diverse and talented set of candidates to choose from. For the first time we might nominate a woman, an African American or even a Hispanic to the highest office. The republicans can make no such claim. All of their candidates are white. None of them can be described as talented or worthy of the presidency.

August 8th, 2007 at 2:15 amI leaped from my chair and nearly dislocated a shoulder to avoid hearing Chris Matthews. I’m a big boy. I don’t need that goon telling me what I just saw and how I feel about it.
The fact that the candidates needed to use their “outside voices” was a nice addition. the fact that the stadium was full of fully operational bullshit detectors was even nicer.
what happened to Gravel? I would have enjoyed seeing him on board. the primary is the time to focus on issues. go, take one of those cool little polls. I’ll bet most of the snotty “netroots” people who think Gravel and Kucinich should be cast overboard actually agree with them on most of the issues. some of you people are even starting to sound like Chris Matthews!
August 8th, 2007 at 2:29 amYeah, where does Mss. Clinton get off using the word ‘girl’, how rude. On the other hand, Bush has every right to speak of supporting the troops, sacrifice, effort, propaganda, political tactics and military service.
