Colbert exposes the truth about YearlyKos.

Last night on the Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert covered this past weekend’s YearlyKos convention, explaining “what a blogger is.” “It is someone who has a laptop, an axe to grind and their virginity,” said Colbert. Watch it:

7 Comments before mine (currently, maybe more before I post this) and 2 are from you, 2 are in response to you, one is about Rudy, and the other two are complementing Colbert on being funny.

So far no one is treating this seriously at all. Unless ‘here’ is some how meta-physical or meaning a larger area than this comment thread, or even TP in general.

    So in conclusion, you fail.

It is someone who has a laptop, an axe to grind and their virginity,”

See moron, this is called a JOKE. The virginity reference should have given it away to you. Then again, maybe being one yourself made it not so funny?

Anyway, TP posts it in good fun, and the bloggers have fun with it.

Except for idiots like you, who clearly just don’t get it.

Colbert is satirising this format, by making statements that are so far fetched and off base, that only a conservative pundit could say it and actually believe it. he did it for the lulz.

Wow- your idiocy and lack of critical thinking knows no bounds. No wonder you were such an easy recruit for the Republican al-Qa’ida.

But seriously – Colbert and Jon Stewart may not be “serious journalists,” but they (and their highly capable writing staffs) are political satirists, following in the tradition of Mark Twain, Will Rogers, Thomas Nast, and the late Art Buchwald. While these are not “serious journalists,” they nevertheless have contributed significantly to political dialogue throughout this country’s history. To simply dismiss their work by saying “they’re just comedians” is to ignore a plethora of very important American literature.

And furthermore, they both happen to be very good interviewers, in their own way. I much prefer Jon Stewart’s upbeat but occasionally pointed interviewing style to the talking-point-enabling drivel on the “serious” cable news channels.

As much as you guys love to claim it was just brilliant satire, it was obvious that it hurt just a little bit, because it hit too close to home. I keep trying to tell you that your movement is obviously fascist, in that you won’t allow democratic processes to move forward naturally. 97. Jason M. Hendler says:

While “The Talking Heads” were an ’80’s alternative music group, the term “talking head” refers to video news reports that shows the correspondent from the neck up, making them appear to be a “talking head”.

    I took this from Wikipedia:

In broadcasting, slang for interview footage shot in a locked down medium shot of the subject’s head and shoulders. It also refers to an anchor, pundit, or other personality on news television.

    JMH

Perhaps the audience was silent because they recognized the serious truth behind the comedy that our present government is too dam* close to that of Hitler. I do clowning, including gospel clowning, and there as in most comedic venues it is recognized that comedy can be extremely serious and does not have to be all “yuk yuk”. The common elements are exaggeration and sudden shifts in communicative paths. Colbert does both extremely well.

He’s got a good point. It’s a very slippery slope from making fun of people on the Internet to genocide. That’s how the Spanish Inquisition started – some 15th Century blogger posted “Ferdinand II of Aragon is a big dummy lol” on andalusiamoriscos.org. Next thing you know, Jews and Muslims were being expelled from the Iberian peninsula left and right.

    The blogosphere = gateway fascism.

Hitler also supported removing civil liberties following a terrorist attack, and introduced his enabling act.

We also know the right wing has invaded and supports invading foreign countries who have not attacked the US, using the justification of terrorism against the homeland.

The right wing also has removed civil liberties following a terrorist attack, and introduced their Patriot Act.

    –Jason

FYI — Getting companies to not sponsor O’Reilly’’s show does NOT equal disrupting anything other than his show. Why? Because he’s not running for office.

Members of the GOP, on the other hand, have been convicted of disrupting the democratic process.

    For example:

Two New Hampshire Republicans who were involved pleaded guilty in 2004. Tobin — who led the Republican National Committee’s New England effort in 2002 and later became the region’s director for President George W. Bush’s re-election campaign of 2004 — was convicted in connection with the plot to jam the lines on Election Day at five Democratic get-out-the-vote banks. Also obstructed were the phones of the firefighters’ group, which was offering voters rides to the polls.

Please direct your outrage toward the right people.

    Thank you.

    #144, VP Bush,

I guess Hugo Chavez just merged international energy interests with his government, as opposed to merely seizing them. This is where communism and fascism gets blurry, because nations aren’t simply agricultural or industrial anymore. Some very poor nations have enterprises owned by foreign capitalists that can be seized.

Rhodesia was very productive and wealthy, when agriculture was owned and run by foreign nationals, then Rhodesians gained power, seized those lands and called the country Zimbabwe. Now they are all starving again, with their economy collapsed.

Thats most likley due to an issue with the clustering. I doubt TP has one server. They probably cache and cluster, and they may have recently added something like a content switch (a content switch is a device that accepts the HTTP connections on the front end and distributes them evenly to multiple clustered servers on the back end) which is sending you to a different server when you refresh. If you post your comment and then refresh, and the content switch sends you to a different server that hasn’t sync’d yet, it might not show your comment.

I really think its technical issues.
