Bill O’Reilly: Liberal bloggers = blackmailers.

Last night, O’Reilly said: “[W]hat people don’t understand is that these Internet bloggers give messages to these candidates: ‘If you don’t do what we tell you to do, we will trash you and try to interfere with your fundraising.’ ” Right-wing columnist Dick Morris later asserted that O’Reilly is “a great rallying point for” liberal bloggers, to which O’Reilly replied: “But I think it’s a danger to have blackmailers, which is what these bloggers are, active in the political process.” Media Matters has the video.

‘If you don’t do what we tell you to do, we will trash you and try to interfere with your fundraising.’

That's called democracy -- which makes it not surprising that Bill has trouble with it.

  5. CD Says:

Isn't billo the one who has ordered stakeouts of people he doesn't like?

  6. Stephen Says:

Yeah who wants "the people" involved in the political process? And I don't think that money is playing a big enough role in our election process.

  7. Peter Says:

How dare we demand accountability from our elected representatives??? /snark off

  8. bobh Says:

The GOP must be shitting itself if they've given Bill these marching orders. Ha Ha!

  9. taylorbad Says:

Blackmail? As in trying to get a boycott going against businesses and countries who don't toe Bill O's line? Kettle = black. pot = black. The guy is hopeless.

  10. J Lewd Says:

Bill O'Reilly = serial rapist. Did I forget to mention "syphillitic"?

  11. Peter Says:

Actually, blackmail is what you do with secret information you obtained through illegal wiretaps in order to get public officials to do what you want them to.

They can have my liberal blog when they pry it from

This is good news for us liberal bloggers.

The last time Bill Orally screamed "blackmail" he paid someone $10 million at least.

  14. upside00 Says:

This is SOOOO funny! The Repugs don't have a viable blogging infrastructure, so, like billo shutting off the mic when he doesn't like what is said, he wants to throw stones.

It is amazing how unilateral these fools are. Everything must be a dichotomy to them: either good or bad; black or white; ignorant liberal or informed conservative; or as King George the Dumb puts it, you is either with me or again me. However, after reading my description I think maybe they are on to something--I feel the same way about the ignorant conservatives, the bads, and the blacks (figuratively not ethnically). They is either with the intelligent liberals or against true democracy and the American way.

  19. nofltwlt Says:

We should refer to Bill as "Bill the Entertainer". Although I watch him on a regular basis, it is only to gather intelligence on the right wing enemy.

Ok, you got me there. Send me $200k in unmarked bills and I won't tell anyone about your little escapade with that 12 year old boy, the German Shepard and the jar of peanut butter.

I have to say though, that was pretty disgusting.

  21. BARTLEBEE Says:

    LISTEN UP.

You are fighting for the freedom to tow the RNC line. You are fighting for the freedom to say exactly what they APPROVE for you to say.

    But REMEMBER.

Free speech is only legal when it tauts the Republican party line.

It is a CRIME, to speak up if your position differs from that of the Bush administration.

Billo is just trying to squelch the free speech of people whose opinions he doesn't agree with. Either that or this is just the latest chapter in his constant drumbeat that all people who don't march in lockstep with him are scary boogeymen. I find it difficult to believe that liberal bloggers are somehow more evil, influential, and capable of striking terror into the hearts of political candidates than conservative bloggers are. Or editorial columnists. Or radio talk show hosts. Or Fox News pundits.

Anybody who runs for office is going to encounter some negative opinions. I doubt any candidate with conviction would change their platform merely because some blogger criticized it.

You can't sell that schtick to most of the 25-50 crowd because they actually know what a blogger is and have enough brain cells to comprehend that both the left and the right have them and that both sides are giving voice to the people from their respective camps.

As soon as he tries to suggest only the left is attempting to influence the debate, his premise becomes laughable.

"We should refer to Bill as “Bill the Entertainer”. Although I watch him on a regular basis, it is only to gather intelligence on the right wing enemy."

Wow, my hat's off to you. I can't watch him for more than 10 minutes without getting nauseous. Same thing with Bush.

  118. Publicus Says:

    Yep. We're really tough.

Get this: If you don't honor your oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, we'll SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT YOU!

You'd have to ask the swiftboaters - cowardly creep.

  121. Gregor Samsa Says:

Isn't this the same man who attacked JetBlue for sponsoring the YearlyKos convention, and then gloated on the air after JetBlue dropped the sponsorship?

In case we had any doubt O'Reilly is a big fat hypocrite, here is yet another example of his double-standards.

  122. Al Says:

Bloggers are voters with a right to our opinions and a right to get involved. If BOR and DICK morris don't like it? TOUGH SH*T!!!!!!!

  123. Pete Says:

On October 13, 2004, O'Reilly filed a preemptive lawsuit against O'Reilly Factor producer Andrea Mackris, her lawyer Benedict P. Morelli, and Morelli's law firm for extortion, contending Mackris had privately demanded more than $60 million (USD) to settle a claim of sexual harassment. Morelli did not deny that they had demanded the settlement prior to filing the complaint, but did deny the allegations of extortion.

Later that same day, Mackris filed a complaint of sexual harassment against O'Reilly, claiming that O'Reilly had made numerous references to "phone sex, vibrators, threesomes, masturbation, the loss of his virginity, and other sexual fantasies". The details of some of these fantasies resembled scenes in a book written by O'Reilly, Those Who Trespass. The specificity with which Ms. Mackris recounted O'Reilly's telephone calls led many to believe that she had taped the calls. The existence of these tapes, and O'Reilly's desire that they never be made public, were seen by many as the reason for the prompt settlement of the suit in Mackris's favor. According to many accounts, O'Reilly paid many millions to make the lawsuit go away.

The complaint also sought additional damages and described alleged actions of retaliation by Fox, et al. Both cases were settled out of court and all parties agreed to keep the terms of the settlement confidential.....but you know what "O'Reilly" happened and what it says about the character of that self-righteous blowhard..

  124. Bob S from CO Says:

We prefer bribes to blackmail....Thank you.

  125. PoppaCheese Says:

I love how the conservative spin machine refers to liberal bloggers as "angry white men". Ok, I'm a man. I'm white. And I'm angry at what has happened to our country under the President Chimpy regime. I love reading the comments on blogs - a lot of you guys and gals are very passionate and that's a great thing. Except for the righties who are scared to death of real people with real opinions. Shrill O'Really goes off on these rants because ya'll scare this man to death. Why? Truth. And that's something Mr. O'Really doesn't want you to know.

  126. lostcosts Says:

However you "spin" it he is right and not just "neo-con" right.

Also, I find it hilarious how far right the left liberal candidate is going to come to the center in the primary. After they get all the money and support from left wingers and yes, they get money from "BIG BAD" corporations too.

  127. Quizmos Says:

Proof positive that Bill O'Reilly imagines the rest of the world thinks like he does! This guy simply cannot escape the gravitational field of his ego (word has it that his Id is a little out of control as well). This guy has about as much depth as a tea spoon.

  128. lostcosts Says:

And by the way...we are not a democracy...we are not run by mob rule. We are country of laws.

If we were run my majority rule this country would be overrun years ago by foreign invaders.
