The founding fathers also seemed to envision a democracy where only white male land-owners could vote. We've obviously (and for good reason) strayed away from this as our country became more plural. Even if the founding fathers wanted a "Christian Nation" it's irrelevant, because we've finally realized that a secular government is the best way to protect religious freedoms for EVERYONE. As long as we're going to allow prayer in this official context, let's let everybody get a shot at it. And why not put an atheist up there to talk about reason, reality and the importance of what we do in THIS world.
