Gonzales visits Iraq to offer advice on legal system.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales “arrived in Baghdad on Saturday for his third trip to Iraq to meet with department officials who have been there to help fashion the country’s legal system. ‘I am pleased to see firsthand … the progress that the men and women of the Justice Department have made to rebuild Iraq’s legal system and law enforcement infrastructure,’ Gonzales said in a statement released by the department.” The AP notes: “[h]is optimistic assessment came despite the frequent sectarian lawlessness and killings in the country.”

Bill Clinton is the one who, upon being told that the first TWC tower was struck stayed in a room and read a book about goats with a group of kindergarten students. It was Bill Clinton who, upon being told by his COS that the second TWC tower had been struck remained in a room full of kindergarten kids and looked stupidly for 7 minutes before moving. And it was Bill Clinton who, upon being evacuated from the dangerous kindergarten classroom in Sarastoa Florida flew to Omaha Nebraska and hid under a corn field until Dick Cheney said it was safe to come back to DC and act tough. Yup, once again its all Bill Clinton’s fault.

    Comment by KissMyAssLibs — August 11, 2007 @ 3:42 pm

Stop lying. Berger removed COPIES, not originals. No originals were destroyed. He didn’t “stuff them” in his pants, he put them in his pockets (I don’t know why the right wingers believe this detail is so important). Berger’s purpose was to have copies at home to help him study for his testimony, not to destroy documents.

His punishment was appropriate to the crime. I believe that the fine was $50,000, and he lost his security clearance, I believe for 3 years.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Talk about whether Iraq’s government will survive is taboo among U.S. officials, but experts and diplomats say the hobbled coalition is in big trouble and the betting is it won’t last.

If Maliki’s government did collapse, the aim would be to emphasize a “unity of purpose” among the key parties and find a way to demonstrate that, the official said.

Hitlers coalition fell apart, so is Americas.

(Started a war based on lies) Hitler attacked his own govt building and blamed it on the Poles. Bush claimed Saddam had WMD.

Hitler fired any general who disagreed, Bush has done the same, and look how it’s working out.. Hitler was defeated, and America has lost Iraq, and soon Afghanistan.

Collusion with Al Qaeda was the start of the rightard downfall, and now the right is sen for the treasonous cowards they are. You’ll not see a congressional majority or a presidency ever again in America. Bush is mired in the 20% range, and will only go lower. Rightards have turned to exclusively personal attacks and ad hominem name-calling because they are fact-free, and because they are very much afraid that they are through. And they should be afraid, because they are finished. America will regain her freedom from Nazis and fascists, and will kick some righty ass in the meantime.

I feel really sad for these trolls that have destroyed this site as a forum for real Americans.

They probably think that they are more enlightened than everyone else, more knowledgeable of the complexities of this so called “war on terror”. I’m sure they think they are “true” Americans and the rest of us “libtards” are just brainwashed by the “left wing” media. It’s sad that they are helping to destroy this country and they don’t even know it. They call themselves Americans and obviously can’t begin to understand the true meaning of the word. Their idea of America is the antithesis of what the founders envisioned, spoon fed to them by corporations and traitors who have enslaved the world and America for their profits. They are sad, shallow fools who lick the boots that are crushing them.

Their asinine racial slurs and cowardly attacks are designed to derail any real conversation. Their constant disinformation campaign is a joke to anyone with any knowledge of the issues, but yet we keep engaging them. So many people come to this site and have something important and enlightening to contribute, but they don’t. They see the comments section lit up with trolls calling attention to the obviously terrifying name BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA and realize, quite correctly, that this is a hostile environment, one much like the environment created and perpetuated by the neoconservative (fascist) regime that has taken over this once great country.

It is unfortunate that these clouded fools have taken it upon themselves to “educate” us poor dumb libtards. Their idea of education is to simply digest the swill and garbage that is fed to them by their “liberal” media and corrupt corporate overlords. They call themselves Americans but we know that they are not. They are sheep and uneducated rednecks who fly the American flag from their trucks but couldn’t understand the simplest civics lessons. They are the saddest fools, the ones who will destroy this country for all of us.

His administration (read Exxon, etc) is desperately trying to get that damn oil law enacted, which will never happen.

The value of the worlds remaining oil will soon increase dramatically. They thought they could make one last ditch effort to steal the oil again. We’re closely, or maybe past peak oil now, which means as the world consumes more on every minute, every drop becomes more valuable, thus costing us more than the price gouging they’re doing now.

If Bush cared about America we would have the largest public works project building massive arrays of solar panels, and wind power plants, as well as funding both non-proft (schools), and businesses to build better batteries.

America must get off the oil and coal, and use what nature provides everyday as clean fuel. Set an example to the world, and sell our technologies developed. This is how America can remain a leader in the economy, and jobs.

The Democrats need to remember one thing, remind America who started this Terrorist recruiting war, and who let Osama get away while we tried to steal another nations oil.

Saying that, West Ham are one of the teams that are part of the British experience – basically they won us the World Cup in 1966.

Right now some troll is spamming an anti Hillary rant on every thread, basically killing them all. FTA: Gonzales got an update from Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, and also planned to meet with Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, and other U.S. and Iraqi officials, the statement said.

The trip comes at a difficult time personally for Gonzales. Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress have called for his resignation.

They have questioned his truthfulness on a variety of issues including discrepancies about the purge of federal prosecutors and issues related to a domestic eavesdropping program.

Gonzales also was an architect of U.S. policy on the treatment of prisoners abroad and author of a 2002 memo saying the president had the right to waive laws and treaties that protect war prisoners.

Kemma rice – it’s rice cooked with shredded lamb. it’s so wrong it’s right. Hell, it’s almost a dish on its own.

Once the Asian lady next door got used to me and my friends all being white skinheads (late 90’s – techno and Drum ‘n Bass) she taught me how to make curry.

The Attorney General, John Ashcroft (I can’t believe it but I actually miss him) told President Bush that he had serious problems with his domestic surveillance program, and that he wasn’t sure it was legal.

Then he got sick. Real sick.

Then Bush had his lawyer, Alberto Gonzales, to ask the acting AG, to authorize the domestic surveillance program. The acting Attorney General said no, and told the presidents lawyer that the progam was illegal, and could not be authorized, and it had to stop.

Then Bush told his lawyer to bypass the Acting Attorney General, and go pester John Ashcroft to sign documents authorizing it while he was partially comatose and very very ill, and NOT the Attorney General.

Then the Acting AG found out and headed to the hospital to cut off Bush’s lawyer, and prevent him from tricking a drugged and seriously ill Attorney General into signing a document that he was not legally authorized to sign, while he was in a weakened state.

The Acting Attorney General met the presidents lawyer in the former Attorney Generals hospital room but the presidents lawyer ignored the Acting Attorney General, and walked to the side of the former Attorney Generals bedside, and said here, sign these. The former Attorney General looked up at Gonzales, the presidents lawyer, and pointed a finger at James Comey, the Acting Attorney General, and said “Theres the Attorney General“.

The presidents lawyer grew angry, and closed the file with the paperwork, and ignoring the Acting Attorney General who was standing a few feet away from him, stomped out of the room.

Then the president fired the Acting Attorney General, and made his lawyer the Attorney General.

Then his lawyer signed the paperwork authorizing the domestic surveillance program.

I must be using the public library computer.

    At 12:30 in the morning.

  571. Probus says:

Gonzales helped Bush get out of jury duty otherwise it would have come out that Bush had been arrested for DUI in TX. Bush is only keeping him till he is of use to him after that he’ll get rid of him.

    why have you not enlisted?

  584. BARTLEBEE says:

See, the president, sent his lawyer out in the middle of the night to try and circumvent the constitution, illegally.

He tried to get a man who was not the attorney general, to FORGE documents, to pass an ILLEGAL program, that he had already been informed by the both the Attorney General, and the Director of the FBI that it was illegal.

    So he is a criminal.

Only now, since he and the other criminal, Alberto Gonzales are in charge of law enforcement, there is nothing anyone can do.

    Yet.

  585. BARTLEBEE says:

And that per the testimony of not one, but TWO Attorney Generals of the United States, AND the Director of the FBI.

  589. ronjazz says:

You don’t need a link, the story appears on this very blog. See, a link is going to do nothing to fix your problem with denial. it is a deep psychological problem, probably initiated when your mother locked you up to prevent you from looking up her skirt. You are mentally unbalanced. even when proof is provided, you deny that it’s proof. there is no hope for you without heavy medication and institutionalization, but we know you can’t afford it. And we’re glad that your mother is protecting your family from you, although it sucks that she has sicced you on us. But you’re about equal to a fat Republican’s beer fart: smelly as hell, but eventually just a bad memory.

  590. Fan_of_Man says:

just think sonny, when you enlist, if you make it back alive, you can let us all know if iraq still sells 5 rugs for $5.00!

    sound good?

  591. Probus says:

Rumsfeld insulted the troops when he said that you go to war with the Army you have not the army you want. Clinton would have fired him a long time ago. Bush kept him on even though he didn’t respect the troops.

  592. ronjazz says:

Sonny would shoot himself as he ran away from the braver Iraqi citizens chasing his ass around their country. he wouldn’t survive his first day in a battle zone. It’s actually laughable that any wingnut troll would have the skills necessary to fight for their country, but it’s no big deal, since they lack the courage to even thnk about it.

  593. Probus says:

If Bush would have served in combat in Vietnam he would know what it feels like to see your friends get blown up by IEDs. He is the worst commander in chief in US history.

  594. BARTLEBEE says:

  600. Probus says:

Every republican should be forced to serve in Iraq. This is their war. But instead of enlisting they send others. If Bush cared about the troops he would get them out of harm’s way. Instead he sends them to fight a war he has lost.

  601. Fan_of_Man says:

  602. Probus says:

Conservatives like to start wars (Iraq, Iran) but don’t know how to win them. Bush’s policy in Iraq is a colossal failure.

  603. ronjazz says:

p doesn’t understand that the facts support the liberal left, and that the conservatard right has to make things up every day to keep their insane base from turning on them and killing and eating them. I loved the post where p melted down; it was all about republican cowardice, trapped between the worst presidnt in history and a base that is completely unhinged and prone to violence. they can’t abandon Bush for fear of their very lives, and they can’t support Bush because it will mean the end of their careers. Very funny, and very fitting. What goes around, comes around, and the GOP is done, ruined and f*cked. it’s a great day in America.

  604. Fan_of_Man says:

    welcome to last throes ronjazz

  605. BARTLEBEE says:

Its still an account of the story. Are you saying now that the BROOKING INSTITUTE is just LYING?

I am lying? They are lying. CSPAN who AIRED THE TESTIMONY IS LYING?

CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, who all aired segments from the testimony, just invented the tape?

Yea, thats what you’re saying, isn’t it you inbred limpdick wannbee little bootlicking inbred?

That is what you’re saying, because if I got the US Archives to replay the footage, with James B Comey himself acting it out in unison, you’d still say what that whore mother of yours taught you to say.

    Nuh uh.

    Troll.

  606. ronjazz says:

I’m also enjoying the claim by the lonely basement-dwelling mama’s boy troll that TP is a conservative blog, where one conservative is getting beaten to a bloody pulp by a dozen of so liberals. Talk about your denial. Take a bullet, sonny, for your own good. It will be OK, just like sleeping.

  642. Probus says:

16 words were removed from Bush’s State of the Union speech. Those words had to do with his faulty claim that Saddam tried to by yellow cake uranium from Niger. Bush lied.

  644. ronjazz says:

I met Ronjazz at a gay club.

    Comment by Barney Frank — August 12, 2007 @ 1:50 am

Only closeted republican rightards are afraid to go to gay clubs. As a secure hetero male, I haven’t those fears. And, I am proud to say, I have met Barney Frank, a very fine American patriot, teller of truths, and destroyer of Republicans everywhere. I don’t let being accused of homosexuality bother me; it reflects far more poorly on the accuser. Closeted gays like sonny and Dog are the most likely to project their inner fears when they are losing an argument, which is why we hear it so often from them, as they are always losing arguments.

  645. had enough says:

Bush lied when he said Saddam tried to buy yellow cake uranium from Niger.

    Comment by Probus

Post the link or admit you are lying. Your choice.

    Comment by Sonny

So you think Bush was telling the truth when he said Saddam tried to buy yellow cake uranium from Niger? We all know that did not happen.

  646. Probus says:

Barney Frank is one of the most eloquent members of Congress. A great debater. A proud gay American. He’s never been ashamed of his sexual orientation. 1st openly gay congressman.

  647. barfly says:

    How sad is your life?

    Comment by Mr. Big

I could write it all in episodes – but that doesn’t make your posts relevant to anything. Your Kung Fu is laughably weak.

  648. ronjazz says:

sonny p has linked to nothing, thus has lied since he started here, by his own measure. You got nothing, p. but go ahead, call me a fag. It is natural to do when you’ve been fighting those impulses (probably unsuccessfully) all your life.

  649. Probus says:

Bush was so scared of Joe Wilson’s op-ed that he had several members of his administration out his CIA agent wife in retaliation. He broke the law.

  650. Probus says:

By outing a covert CIA agent Bush endangered the lives of all the agents who were working undercover with Plame just to score a political point. Saddam never bought yellow cake uranium. Bush lied to the American people. He should be impeached and convicted.

  651. ronjazz says:

See, every troll that calls me gay is actually gay themselves. That’s what shrinks call projection. I generally don’t call people that I don’t know gay; in fact, I usually only call gays gay. They don’t seem to mind. But they aren’t closetted rightwing pedophiles. right, dog?

  652. Probus says:

Wilson was a republican who called out Bush on his lies. He served as ambassador for Bush 41. Bush broke the law by outing Wilson’s wife.

  653. ronjazz says:

Most enlighening, all these closet case rightards outing themselves this evening. Explains a litle about their mental instability. Most of the gay friends I have that have come out are far more stable than this bunch of pansies. And far more intellient, but so are my tomato plants.

  654. upside00 says:

mr p and his Megaphone software and too much meth can cause such funny behavior.

  655. barfly says:

“Plame was not covert. [. . .] Her lawsuit was recently dismissed.”

    Comment by Mr. Big

It’s being appealed, Brainiac; chances are good a “loyal Bushie” won’t be deciding to overturn the dismissal.

  656. ronjazz says:

  657. barfly says:

    Comment by Sonny Crocket

Repeating it, won’t make it any less a lie, P.

  658. Sonny Crock says:

you think ronjazz has it bad, i was turned down by Barney Frank!

  659. Probus says:

It took seven administration officials to out one CIA agent. They should all be in prison.

  660. Probus says:

16 words about yellow cake uranium were removed from Bush speech. Because he knew it was a lie. They are no longer part of the Congressional record.

  661. barfly says:

“Just because we shared clothes doesn’t mean anythings out of the ordinary.”

    Ok, I get the joke.

I think I hear my bong ringing – later folks…

  662. ronjazz says:

Bush is a lousy liar, but it never stops him from trying. only the base believes anything he says, and they’re all retarded psychopaths on release for the weekend. Visiting TP. A liberal blog. Told you they were sick f*cks.

  663. ronjazz says:

Too many libtrolls tonight! Why don’t they get a life?

    Comment by Blood-Thirsty Troll — August 12, 2007 @ 2:27 am

yes, it must be overwhelming to a coward and a natural-born liar like yourself to be unable to come up with anything to say except that there are too many liberals on a liberal blog. Go to the head of the class, and flush twice.

  664. ronjazz says:

  668. ronjazz says:

Funny, not a single cogent argument or point made all evening by the rightards. Name-calling, massive gay projection, meth-mouth, etc., etc. But nothing patriotic or useful in fighting the terrorist in the Shite House or the nincompoop Betrayus, rapidly accelerating the death rate of American troops, or the collapse of the housing market and the Dow, or the Chinese threats to take down our economy even lower than Bushco has. I fear all of our trolls are outsourced to India, as they seem to have no clue about American policies or problems. I guess that would be a good reason for their unenlisted status.

Or maybe they’re just lying antiamerican cowards. either way, useless to the USA, useful to Bin Laden and his best buddy Bush.

    Poor doggy.

Your posts read like you’re typing while biting your ass.

Advantage is a very potent anti-flea medication, and quite reasonably priced. It lasts for four full weeks, and can be purchased at any pet-supply store…

  680. Col. Kent says:

But I do agree Alberto Gonzales, and probably president Bush are both looking at some pretty serious legal troubles.

Chances are, once they are out of office, where they don’t control the bodies of government that would prosecute them, then they are going to be in a whole heap of trouble. I imagine jail time for Gonzales is a given. We’ve never sent a former president to jail I don’t think, but who knows? Bush has done some pretty bad shiite.

  681. Col. Kent says:

Hopefull we can get a war going before then.

  682. Col. Kent says:

See, some people think killing a few hundred thousand people is bad, and it was when the nazis did it. But its not bad when the good guys do it and thats us.

  683. The Eck says:

Yea I agree. 100,000 people ain’t crap. They compare us to hitler but we he got millions. Once we kill all the arabs, then maybe they can do that, but by then it will be just too darn late.

  684. Egg says:

  685. The Eck says:

Personally I think we should make the Arabs all wear some kind of identifcation if they’re Muslim. Something like sticker or a button or something. Maybe with a picture of a sickle or a koran on it or something.

Just in case we need to round their butts up.

  686. The Eck says:

We could even tattoo them with numbers or something. Barcodes might work. Then we could scan them and see who they are and stuff and know when theres a Muslim in the area. Once we are free of them the world will be better off you’ll all see.

  687. The Eck says:

I bet Gonzales will come up with something like that. Imagine. You could by a scanner to see if your neighbors one of them muslims. Then turn their ass in.

  688. Probus says:

The AG has sworn to up hold the US Constitution. He works for the American people. He is no longer Bush’s lawyer.

  689. Egg says:

No its me. Whats happening? Is that you saying that stuff?

  690. Egg says:

Screw the constitution. Who needs it when we’ve got a man like Bush?

  691. barfly says:

And what will Gonzo’s imparted wisdom be? That the Iraqi “government” should only allow Shia partisans into positions of power? He’ll have a hard time making the case for bipartisanship in governance, given the hyper-partisanship he’s shown since taking office. He can talk the talk, but he’s already demonstrated that he can’t walk the walk.

    And the Iraqis know it.

That’s one reason some thumbed their collective noses at the “democratic system” by taking a long recess, and others by withdrawing from the coalitional government.

And with those two you know it will be.

  693. Probus says:

Congress should impeach Gonzales for perjury. He broke the law.

  694. The Eck says:

  695. The Eck says:

Because us democrats only have one more seat than us, you can’t impeach. So you’ll just have to suck it up, while we do whatever the hell we want.

  696. The Eck says:

    I mean you democrats. Sorry.

  697. The Eck says:

Clearly Gonzales just doesn’t care about the law. He lied to congress under oath and he was a co conspiritor with Bush to obstruct justice and violate the constitution, but none of that matters if Bush won’t fire him because he is in charge so he simply will refuse to investigate himself.

    Except with his fingers.

  698. The Eck says:

When you guys get in power, you can break the law too if you want. But you don’t cause you’re such wusses. THats why if we can pull it off, we’re going to make sure this country doesn’t have another election ever again.

Yeah, but a lot of it is from trolls of the fascist persuasion that need serious re-education with a 2-inch adjustable spanner, used in an up-and-down motion.

  702. theswan says:

Gonzo is so dicredited that he must run to Iraq to further his legacy. Soon he will be in charge of two failed legal systems. Heck of a job!

  703. Publicus says:

This IS about a story in The Onion, isn’t it? PLEASE tell me it is…

  704. TP - Why? says:

TP, why, when you have created such an excellent forum for political discourse do you fail to manage it?

In order to get onto your site, users must provide their e-mail address. Do you just not check it when trolls start spitting vitriol? You have, or should have, the ability to block posters who spew hate and personal attacks. If you lack that technology, shame on you. It reduces the site to nothing more than a back alley gang bang.

If you do have it, and I believe that you do, you’re just not using it in order to generate a little heat.

I don’t need heat. Substantial, considered debate, good. Sanctioned hatred. . . not so fun.

I don’t permit violence in my home and won’t allow it to enter via your website.

  705. KG Prophet says:

    Is this a joke?

I mean, really, is this a joke? Is Homer Simpson also going to Iraq to give advice about nuclear power?

  706. LibertyLover says:

Well, Gonzo was going to advise them, but then he couldn’t recall just what he was going to say…
