After calling the conservatives’ bluff and postponing the Republican YouTube debate, CNN and YouTube announced that they will hold the primary debate on Wednesday, Nov. 28. “Like the Democratic CNN/YouTube debate, this live two-hour forum will feature video questions submitted to YouTube that will be broadcast and answered by the candidates on CNN. CNN’s Anderson Cooper will moderate,” CNN said in a statement.
I gotta think that even though the source will be UTube, the questions will be so tailored they’ll fit like an Armani suit.
August 13th, 2007 at 10:26 amMeanwhile the dems quail at the thought of being on FOX.
August 13th, 2007 at 10:26 amThey’ll still figure out some way to weasel out. Repigs hate Americans’ free speech.
August 13th, 2007 at 10:27 amMore insightful questions from youtube:
“Hey candidates, what will you do to keep the price of carrots down so that I can have a decent nose?”
August 13th, 2007 at 10:28 amI’d bet that Wuff Blitzed will be up there huffing and puffing about each question, do you think he’ll try and interrupt the videos??
August 13th, 2007 at 10:28 amThe Repubs can’t answer serious candid questions because they’ll have nothing credible to say. You KNOW they’ll censor the questions somehow or put shills in to pose the questions. No Republican has anything positive to spin about what’s gone down over the past 6 years. Sorry & sad.
August 13th, 2007 at 10:28 amDems rightly rejected FOX as an antiAmerican propaganda tool. They’re not afraid of the American people or the truth, unlike the lightweight lazy white rich men trying to buy the repuke nomination.
August 13th, 2007 at 10:29 amthinking the same thing, RU…
more mindless cheerleading sofball “questions” …
August 13th, 2007 at 10:29 amcan’t wait…

And totally predictable…
August 13th, 2007 at 10:30 amYou’re right, RUC — look for a softball game. By postponing, they give more time for YouTube submissions, which means more questions that can fit through their tight filter.
I predict lots of questions like — “to what do you attribute the fact that we have had no terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11?” or “what can we do to keep hardworking Americans from having to pay more taxes?” or “how can we support our brave troops in Iraq?”
August 13th, 2007 at 10:31 ami’m sure they still won’t show. Republicans hate democracy and the people.
August 13th, 2007 at 10:45 amFunny.
Lefties complain that Fox isn’t a credible medium to host a presidential debate. Yet, a gloried camcorder — an entity not even licensed by the government, unlike Fox — is considered by them to be a credible force to host an official presidential debate.
Your expertise, YouTube, is capturing lame Jackass ™ impressions. Stick with your trade.

FOX news? the rightwing koolaid servers that went to court to fight for their right to lie to the American people, and won? they are lower than slugs, and have openly admitted their fealty to GOP smears and lies. Licensed by the government has lost all meaning under this madministration. Youtube has far more credibility doing Jackass impressions then the jackasses of FOX. Actually, that’s too kind. The TRAITORS of FAUX is more accurate.

That wasn’t a meaningful response, sir.
YouTube has no government license, Fox does. Your dislike for the channel alone doesn’t make it unqualified to host a debate. I think they’ve been around much longer than a glorified camcorder.
Really, is “YouTube” is the best alternative you lefties can come up with? I always knew that you lefties enjoyed watching backyard wrestling matches instead. Only they could envision meshing that with a United States Presidential debate.
The criticism you lefties pose of Fox is hereby null and void.
August 13th, 2007 at 11:16 am…
but, it’s not the camcorder that will
“host an official presidential debate”…
that job will be CNN’s … the camcorder will help record the
messages from the PEOPLE, regular joe’s, We the…, if you will,
who will be asking their questions…
i thought everybody knew how that worked…
August 13th, 2007 at 11:16 ampretty cool actually…
…
Really, is “YouTube†is the best alternative…
Strike the second “is.”

YouTube shouldn’t be sponsoring it. They don’t possess the qualifications.

Why not? It’s a popular site that has become the de facto standard for video communication in Web 2.0. Sounds like the market has given them the qualifications. What is it you don’t like about free markets, exactly?
August 13th, 2007 at 11:28 amThey don’t possess the qualifications.
that’s funny… that’s some serious twistin’ and flappin’…
the message gets out to the people, BY the people…
THAT’s the best qualification needed…
besides, EVERYthing is corporate sponsored these days…
that free market thing, ya know?
enough with you…

They aren’t licensed by the Government. They aren’t qualified.
Sorry if that ruins your day, ~katy~
August 13th, 2007 at 11:38 amUhhh.. CNN is hosting the debate, just using UTube to gather questions… Hey, there went the point! You just missed it…

All of a sudden, this lefty doesn’t the like government. Striking.
This is no “free market” issue, pal. You lefties consider a non-licensed entity to host an official presidential debate simply because it gets a few clicks for childish videos. Fox news, on the other hand, has plenty of viewers and is recognized by the FCC.
Really, you have no case. It’s just pure desperation from you lefties, contradicting yourselves at every turn. (By the way, didn’t you dems reject the FOX challenges, bashing their licensed station, then rail at Republicans for returning the favor?)
August 13th, 2007 at 11:45 amIt’s amazing how CTV2 is so disparaging of YouTube (an internet site) from the confines of ThinkProgress (another internet site).
August 13th, 2007 at 11:47 amOf course, he (she?) ignores the fact that CNN is the actual host network and that the questions are merely provided by YouTube users. Hell, CT could even ask his (her?) own questions.
Let’s see how it goes. I wouldn’t be shocked if some concessions were made on the part of CNN to not use any kooky looking/sounding questions that might actually give America a view of who the Republican base really is.

Oh, I’m sure that most of the GOP candidates’ handlers have a list of conditions a mile long for their participation. I predict that not only will there be no snowmen, there won’t be any questions that would require an answer not found in every candidate’s 3×5 cards.
August 13th, 2007 at 11:58 amA clear difference
August 13th, 2007 at 12:33 pmI knew that the Republicans, unlike the Democrats would debate regardless of the venue. Hooray for free speech and hooray for the party of Lincoln. Just look at the vitriol on this page “Repigs”, “jacka**es on FOX” etc. Republicans will show that they are not only braver than Democrats but that we also possess much more decorum.

Comment by CT_Version 2 — August 13, 2007 @ 11:45 am
CNN is also a licensed network, dumbass.
And I personally think it was a bad idea fo the Democratic candidates to reject the offer to debate on FOX. It just gave you morons another talking point.
August 13th, 2007 at 12:38 pmComment by toasterhead — August 13, 2007 @ 12:38 pm
And the “KKKarl” material is what, 400-level college course?
No, THATS a talking point.
Straying from a debate with your opponent (e.g., Democrats turning down Fox) makes for weak character, plain and simple. You could call it a talking point if it wasn’t a fact. But they did, in fact, back down.
August 13th, 2007 at 8:02 pmCT_Version 2, FOX IS NOT licensed by the Federal Government. They are a cable channel, and therefore don’t use the Public airwaves. Your phony indignation is exceeded only by your ignorance of the facts. Put down the Kool-Ade pitcher.
August 14th, 2007 at 4:27 amAs a republican supporter this time around, I just want to thank Anderson Cooper for his hard work as a public figure and for his non rigidness in moving back the schedule conflict.
Moving the debate to November can only be a good thing for CNN and Cooper. We’ll all be sitting around with our families that time a year eating turkeys, watching football, and honing into the Utube debate. The extra time just makes the whole thing more marvelous.
Thanks Cooper.
