Conyers: Rove still needs to come clean.

Conyers: Rove still needs to come clean.»

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) released a statement, saying that Rove’s departure does not put an end to the investigation into the attorney firings scandal:

The need for Karl Rove to explain his role in the firing of the U.S. Attorneys does not diminish when he leaves the White House. Our investigation to date has revealed the White House’s contempt for the rule of law and its interest in the politicization of the Department of Justice.

While resignations at DoJ and the White House continue to mount, questions raised by this investigation remain. We will continue to seek answers to these questions and expect full cooperation from Mr. Rove and other officials regardless of whether they are employed by the White House.

Unfortunately, Congressman Conyers, your threats have proven to be powerless. Many have been calling for impeachment of both Bush and Cheney, yet you and Speaker Pelosi will not pursue it.

This Administration should be scrutinized by the Judiciary Committee. Failure to do so is a failure to exercise the Constitutional rights of every American citizen. As representatives of the people, you are obligated to act.

Good luck in your pursuit of Mr. Rove. For now, we have no anticipation of success.

I’ll educate dumb libs on the Rove situation. Rove’s not involved in ANY cover-up because he and Bush have repeatedly provided ALL documents Demoncrats demanded and volunteered for closed-door testimony. BJ Clinton himself fired 90-something AGs in his 2nd term, showing how legal that was.
    Comment by Libsaregoodfornothing

We will cover this one last time for the eloquent and thoughtful ‘libsare good for nothing’: You absolutely HAVE NO IDEA what was given to Conyers or what was withheld from Conyers. Just because limbaugh or coulter tell you all docs have been delivered, does not make it so. So for the records STFU about YOUR knowledge of anything relative to this issue. 2nd: It is best when a new president dismisses ALL ATTORNEYS at the beginning of the new term in office. The problem with Bush and Rove - numbnuts - is that Bush SELECTIVELY FIRED only the atorneys who were not digging up BS charges of voter fraud in PARTICULARLY VUNERABLE DISTRICTS. Does that clear this up for you at all? Are you that dimwitted that you cannot just grasp WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED - instead of what Fox news tells you? please go away. Your stupidity may just be contagious.

  10. Pity the Foolish Trolls Says:

    Um, Liberalsaregoodfornithing…?

Clinton “fired” the 93 US Attorneys (not Attorneys General, there’s only one of those) at the beginning of his first term.

In his second term, he allowed the remainder who had completed their four year terms to stay on under provisions of the Vacancies Act, if they wanted to. For those who opted to leave, he made new appointments.

Facts right, please. But I wouldn’t really expect that from you, since you don’t even know what a US Attorney is.

Tom, You have no proof that Bush “selectively fired” only AGs who weren’t digging up “BS” charger of voter fraud in “vulnerable” districts. Comment by Libsaregoodfornothing — August 13, 2007 @ 4:30 pm

While that may not be the ONLY reason, it is the main reason discovered so far.

You just regurgitated talking points from what your brainwashers (Air America, Lib media) tell you. The REAL TRUTH is that Bush justly and legally fired some AGs for NOT going after Dem lawmakers more aggressively despite overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing on their part. Those AGs were obviously inept, so they had to be fired.

Nice try…Fouling the air with your words is useless. 98% of the ‘normal’ posters here would run circles around your ability to logic and reason. You throw phrases into the air without even knowing what they mean. It is getting embarrassing for you - you should stop. Being thoughtless and foolish is not a good skill set to have. Well, I guess it would at least be one skill set you do have - I’m sorry about that. maybe life will treat you better next time around. But as it stands, nobody needs your wisdom. Go to powerline - they like robots like you.

There’s only one AG relevant to this discussion - and that’s the Attorney General of the United States. Your suggestion that Bill Clinton removed 93 Attorneys General is looney, uninformed and silly. There are 50 states, plus a few US Territories. How do you get to 93 AG’s? And how do you arrive at the wrong conclusion that Bill Clinton somehow had the authority to remove state officers? The Federal Government and State governments are distinct operating entities.

No wonder Bush won your vote.

  17. RemoveBush Says:

Tom and RemoveBush are irretrievable idiots because they keep ignorantly falsifying that the US only has ONE AG, but everyone educated knows all states have one, too. If Gonzales is the only AG, then why does TX, for instance, have Greg Abbott as its AG, huh, you genius libidiots??
    Here’s his website: http://www.oag.state.tx.us/
All libs who assume the US only has ONE AG should educated themselves.

Now go stick your head back up Bush’s ass…. he needs to know if those polups came back….

Oh…. And in the order it was discussed…..

  29. deedee Says:

John Conyers, needs to grow a set of cojones. He has been weak with Pelosi, Bush, and Cheney! I don’t believe the Dem’s I really don’t. I am so disappointed with how Congress just rolled over and gave Bush the ability to legally spy on us, and furthermore allowed Gonzalez to be in charge. Finally slipping into the bill, protecting the phone company’s from being sued from violating the law. Don’t you love it. No, I rather doubt John Conyers will do anything other then spin hot air in front of the reporters.

  30. bilbobaggins Says:

“You have no proof that Bush “selectively fired” only AGs who weren’t digging up “BS” charger of voter fraud in “vulnerable” districts.”

Of course there is no proof you silly person. How can there be any proof when Bush refuses to turn over documents and says that no one can talk to the investigating committee because of Executive Privilege.

And, it was just a really big coincidence that all of the US Attorneys (Not AG’s) who were fired were either investigating Republicans or refused to become involved in “voter fraud” cases where there was no proof.

You are a silly, silly person. But, you are entirely welcome to live in your dream world if it makes you feel better.

Oh dear, you are being a silly boy again. The United States has an Attorney General (only one). The states each have a US Attorney. Now is that clear enough for you to understand.

I think that maybe you didn’t get enough sleep last night little man. You aren’t making a lot of sense here.

  32. bilbobaggins Says:

I’m wondering why the two posts I have made here about Conyers using Inherent Contempt on Rove have gone poof. Do they have “Inherent Contempt” in their filters and if so, why?

  33. chad Says:

actually you guys are both right example in Minnesota Lori Swanson is the Minnesota Attorney General for our state and Rachel Paulose is the US Attorney for our state. Hey, LAGFN/liberalsdestroyedamerica/IHeartAlito/Ihateliberals/
    neoconsfartterrorists, etc. ,
If you never referred to 93 AGs in any of your posts, what did you mean by
“BJ Clinton himself fired 90-something AGs in his 2nd term” (Comment by Libsaregoodfornothing — August 13, 2007 @ 4:06 pm)?
The number “90-something” applies to US Attorneys, because if, as you have written, that each state has its own AG, then there should be only 50 of such people. Or are you telling us that 43 new states have suddenly been added to the Union? BTW, Clinton did not fire any state Attorney Generals but 92 of the 93 US Attorneys at the beginning of his first–not his second–term.
No matter how you try to spin what you said (like a typical neoCON conman), you can’t erase your first post at 4:06 pm, August 13. Maybe instead of thinking up yet another new moniker, you ought to devote a little more time to thinking about the contents of your posts and checking the facts. But, of course, facts don’t mean much to a neoCON KoolAid addict, do they?

  35. AnArtist Says:

John Conyers was the man who, as senior minority member of the House Judiciary Committee defied the Republicans and held unofficial hearings to establish the level of fraud and vote suppression committed by Blackwell and the Republicans in Ohio. He’s one of my heroes.

The arguments I see on this page show me how screwed up the USA has become. Everyone has taken up such an extreme position and is so willing to sling mud I’m wondering how long it will be until Americans are slinging bullets at Americans. Demoncrats and Repugnicans who are extremists are going to drive our country into a civil war. If that happens, Bush won’t be just a “war time president”, he’ll be the “civil war president” having caused not one but two civil wars.

For now I’m going to continue to practice at the rifle range and stock up on ammunition, food and water filters. If ya’ll succeed at starting a civil war I’ll be ready to defend my family and property from all of the crazies. If on the other hand you’d prefer a revolution that takes our country back from the corporations and gives it to the citizens, count me in.

  43. David Hoffmeister Says:

The confusion over 93 AGs and 50 states can be solved as follows. States have there own STATE GOV AGs. There are 51,DC has a GW poodle in there). There federal court system is devided into 93 districts, some by state, some as just a city, ets. Ex. Manhatten has a federal district court, as does Philly, New York has another in Albany, etc. Sometimes districts are added, jurisdiction can be altered, so all things are not constant. They are considered to serve only the president that appoints them, and may be reappointed to different districs, run for judgeships and AG appointments, etc. GW fired assistant ags(district ags) in respose to their record of pro republican activity, a federal felony and a violation of the hatch act. This is the crime most likely to spawn an impeach motion and vote, as we are really having impeachment hearings now. It is this blatant interference with the justice system that freaks out repugs, as they know whats next….93 liberal federal district AGs. The smell of smoke……..makes me feel like…….victory…..NOW SURF
