For the record, we need to be in Iraq and should remain there for the foreseeable future, although in a much diminished capacity. The world is at war; we didn't cause or start it. Terrorism is real and unless this country starts to pull together and realize that an isolationist policy will not work; nor will ignoring, placating or pacifying stop the spread of terrorism. If you think we will not be attacked if we pull all our forces out of Iraq you are badly mistaken. We need to take the initiative, hunt them down and eliminate them as long as they are determined to destroy the USA which they believe to be the "great satin". Also, all the spin in the world won't make it so and unless you've been living under a rock, we won the war a long time ago and it was the most brilliantly planned and executed military operation in world history. It is now a support operation to help stabilize the new government. Progress has been obviously but ignored by some because they want to look at and report only on the negative and bash the administration.

Do Americans believe the Petraeus/White House Report will be honest?
By: John Amato on Thursday, September 6th, 2007 at 2:19 PM - PDT Not according to the new Rasmussen Poll:

…39% believe the report will honestly and accurately reflect the General’s true assessment of the situation in Iraq. Thirty-five percent (35%) say it will not while 26% are not sure.

You could say 65% of Americans believe this will be more propaganda coming from the White House on Iraq as usual.

add your voice to the choir....

This war has been fought with lies from its very beginning. This is just another example of why Bush is failing at this war. He's not interested in the truth or even the true nature of his enemy. He's creating his reality as he goes from his pampered upperclass reality bubble. Because he denies reality he has declaired war on reality. Reality is going to kick our ass.

America is never gonna leave Iraq. Never!

It makes little difference if they reduce the amount of soldiers inside Iraq because there are 300 thousand private mercenairies there.

"Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.”
--Henry Kissinger, quoted in “Kiss the Boys Goodbye: How the United States Betrayed Its Own POW’s in Vietnam”--

America has encouraged sectarian violence within the middle east since the beginning of time. For the past 100 years America has supported Sunni governments in Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. There is no way in hell that after a hundred years and trillions being spent, that America is gonna walk away and give Iraq to Shiite Iran.

Get Real!

The recent arms deal with Saudi Arabia was just a back-door agreement to allow Saudi Arabia to arm the Sunni's in Iraq as they have been doing since the invasion. Saudi Arabia is causing more violence inside Iraq then Iran ever thought of doing.

During the sanctions against Saddam in the 90's, America wiped out 500 thousand Iraqi's. Secretary of State, Albright, claimed that 500 thousand deaths was a price worth paying!

"Oil is much too important a commodity to be left in the hands
of the Arabs."
--Henry Kissinger, US Secretary of State under Presidents Nixon & Ford--

I truly believe that America deliberately set out to cause chaos inside Iraq since the beginning. Had the invasion gone well or had been conducted as per the Geneva Conventions, America would have no reason to remain. It is only the continuing violence" which America can use as an excuse to Stay-n-Slay! What we are calling "Bush Lies" was actually American policy! It is easier for America to defend or to excuse a lie then to admit International theft!

America has huge experience with the Divide and Conquer schemes during the past 300 years. It is called "Foreign Policy".

The U.S. method of pacifying Iraq after Saddam Hussein's fall actually spurred an anti-American insurgency.

The failure of America to secure 10,000 ammo dumps and missile facilities immediately following the invasion. Looters systematically dismantled and removed 377 tons of explosives, many Al Samouds and Fatah missiles,

The Pentagon admits that a breathtaking 250,000 tons of heavy ordnance - aircraft bombs, artillery and tank shells, mines, rockets -- were allowed to be looted after the invasion. That's equivalent to 1 million 500-pound bombs. At twenty 250-pound roadside mines or market closeouts a day, that's enough for 274 years of attacks.

The U.S. Inspector General concluded that of the 505,093 weapons that have been given to the Iraqi Ministries of Interior and Defense over the last several years, serial numbers for only 12,128 were properly recorded. In addition; 751 of the M1-F assault rifles sent to Iraq were missing, and nearly 100 MP-5 machine guns. 200,000 AK47s Fallen Into The Hands Of Iraqi "Terrorists". Thousands of guns meant for Iraq's police and army instead went to al-Qaeda. The equipment included two launcher mounts for shoulder-fired guided missiles, two guided missile radar test sets, ceramic body armor inserts currently used by deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, a digital signal converter used in naval surveillance, an all-band antenna used to track aircraft and 12 digital microcircuits used in F-14 fighter aircraft.

America did the same thing in Iraq that they had done in Bosnia. The UNDP says about 20 percent of the civilian population in Bosnia possesses weapons, most of them illegally. The number is put at close to 500,000 in a country of some 3.8 million. About 200,000 weapons and 40 to 50 million rounds of ammunition have been exported by Bosnia to Iraq.

If Los Angeles said the Bloods and the Crips are going to be tolerated, they’re going to be armed and police their areas and enforce the law in certain areas, what sense would Los Angeles have of government?"

I agree with the Conventional Wisdom that the Whitehouse hopes to "spin" the Petraeus report in September ... which conceivably could, but probably won't, accurately reflect his own military evaluation of the situation. Will the general go along? With others writing the report, yes. With personally reading the report to Congress that others wrote, probably yes. With declaring (if anyone dares to ask) that in all respects it accurately reflects his own judgment, quite unlikely. There is something that West Point trys to drill into every cadet and probably succeeded with Petraeus --- Duty, Honor, Country. Assuming anyone in Congress has the guts to simply ask the general if the report is, essentially, his own, I do not think he will lie about it. I do think nobody will have the guts to ask.

The SURGE is working to ensure we have troops in the region when we attack Iran. Then, there won't be enough, and then we must keep surging. You know, like the profits of WarMongers, Inc. (blackwater, KB&R, et. al) All of this paid with money we don't have.

How to get out of Iraq:
Step one: Impeach Bush and Cheney.
Step two: Move all of our forces to the borders of Iraq to prevent any outside countries from entering Iraq.
Step three: Wait for the Iraqi people to settle their differences and form their own government.
Step four: Get out of Iraq and go after Al Qaeda in an all out war.
If we treat Al Qaeda right and eliminate them, the problems with the middle east will be fewer and less serious. Right now they confuse our delicate handling of Iraq with weakness. We need to show some pictures of Japan and Germany after WWII. Whole cities turned to rubble, lots of them. They do not understand what war with a major power can be like because they have never seen it. All they have seen is the limited police action in Iraq in both "middle east wars". The Gulf war wasn't war it was target practice. I still think we should have gone to Baghdad then. Just to drive our tanks down the main street and leave. The result may have been better than what we have now.

My favorite recent Bushism regarding the surge:

"just give my chance a plan to work"

Bush makes a big deal about being Commander-in-Chief who respects the command structure. What kind of respect is he showing by referring to General Petraeus by his first name in his public statements? What message does that send the troops? "Hey, guys, don't worry 'cause David's looking over you?"

BTW trolls: If you are so gung-ho about "fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them here," and "staying the course until we are victorious," I want you to know your local enlistment offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those of us who have already served in the military would be happy to help you fill out the necessary forms.

If anyone thought it would be any different you were just fooling yourself. The fact that Bush has said Petraeus about 5 million times on tv makes it quite obvious that it won't be Petraeus's report at all. Isn't obvious how these neocon's think? I just wish they'd understand that they're the ones that don't get it it, not us. It's the age old game of blaming the other side for doing exactly what you are doing. Genius, why didn't I think of that!

What I would like to see, is that everyone just ignore the comments from the ridiculous apologist Bush supporters. I truly believe that they are only there to divert attention away from a topic, because then what they say becomes the topic. They are likely a planted diversion. Ignore them, they are not worth engaging in any serious dialog. There can be no rational person left that thinks that way. I suggest just looking at it as a Colbert twist and have a laugh.

Petraeus' report will only ask for more time. Just like the republicans are doing right now. But it is clear to the American people that the surge has failed to produce the political progress we were promised. The strategy was flawed from the beginning. Giving it 6 more months will not change the conditions on the ground in Iraq.
