‘The most trusted name in news.’

I would like to congratulate the happy couple!

p.s. Hank, you better treat her right, buddy. She’s an American Princess!

  6. Libkeyboardcommander says:

The only reason the questionable libtards at TP had the presumption to post this story of triviality was to advertise CNN (Commie News Network) and the most UNTRUSTED Name in News and also feed the prog paranoia that CNN somehow is not as far leftarded as it is. In reality, of course, which is something progs have a severe problem with grasping, CNN–along with MSNBC–is a zillion miles behind Fox News Channel in ratings, viewership and influence in the country. Misdeeds like this, where CNN’s idea of breaking news is to splash a Jenna Bush blurb over domestic terrorist coverage, is likely why CNN has fallen WAAAAY behind FNC in the cable news ratings.

  7. Retarc says:

I don’t know what CNN’s fault is. The news headline in the screenshot reads “Jury reaches verdict in Padilla terror trial”. At that point in time, the verdict was not yet out.

  8. Joan Rivers says:

Make him get an AIDS test Jenna ..I tell you

  10. Zimzone says:

Was she the one running naked down the hallway in Argentina, or the one smoking pot in the bus station?

  11. Dick Cheney says:

May the couple suffer as much as Jenna’s father has made the Iraqi people suffer.

  12. ann says:

    I’m guessing Jenna’s knocked up.

What happened to the Playboy Argentinian Jenna?

Why is Jenna’s engagement worth noting at all, much less in a banner? I mean, seriously, who cares?

  15. ArmyVet says:

I was watching CNN and thinking how depressing it must be for all those Wall Street types watching Bush’s insane economic policies come home to roost….then…suddenly…the Jenna feel-good engagement story.
I immediately turned the tv off, stereo on and switched to Pink Floyd “Animals”:) Love them war pigs.

  19. Frank J says:

CNN was correct. We knew this bastard was guilty three years ago.

  20. MN Dem says:

Jenna met her betrothed while he was in charge of “scubbing her image”(!)

  21. hellinabucket says:

Maybe this is why Karl is quitting. He wants to become a wedding planner.

  22. Zimzone says:

I can’t wait to see Babs grab Hank by the balls & say, ‘don’t you ever do drugs like her Dad, or I’ll pull these off myself’.

  23. missmolly says:

In this case, I almost support the choice — only because I like to see publicity for terrorists kept to an absolute minimum.

However, the Padilla story is significant not because he is a convicted terrorist, but because he is a terrorist convicted via due process. THAT deserves a spotlight — that the system our leaders have no faith in actually works. (and Padilla himself? — now that he has been duly convicted, he can rot in jail without further publicity).

  26. missmolly says:

Just checked — CNN.com now has the Padilla story as the lead, with a small “breaking news” banner and a graphic.

Jenna has been reduced to a dot point in the “latest news” list.

  27. RUCerious says:

This idiot better watch his ass. Remember what happened to her Mom’s boyfriend…

  28. Zimzone says:

    Hmmm,
If he was Karl’s intern, he probably learned how to give blowjobs.

Why are you such a con-tard?

    Or is that neo-con-tard?

Or should I be PC and call you “reality imparied”?

Naw, those of you to the right of the far right hate anything that’s even remotely PC, so I’ll just call you a retard-a-neo-con. There you go, much better!

  32. Dave says:

I’ve given up on the mainstream media. Celebrity (well, she kinda is) weddings always trump real news stories… always.

    Comment by gummitch — August 16, 2007 @ 3:55 pm

Valid point, but not as bad as the TP headline makes it sound.

BTW, aren’t we all eager to learn about the King’s daughter’s engagement?

  34. Anne says:

Is anyone really suprised by this? CNN has a long history of reporting on the ridiculous. Think Anna Nicole, Lohan, etc. They are nothing if not consistant.

  35. Marie says:

Good grief! Are we now going to nave to endure another White House wedding?
As for CNN, I was watching at the time — I will not be an apologist for the increasingly ridiculous CNN, but the verdict was in, but not yet announced when the Jenna story broke in.
On the other hand, What better time to have a frivolous news story — the market is tanking, unemployment is up, consumer confidence is down, the civilian death toll in Iraq is growing by the day, there are now 3701 dead soldiers in Iraq, the Petraeus report is being scripted by the White House, Bush is about to declare the Iranian army a terrorist organization, and the military suicides are at a record level. Of course — let’s announce the foolish daughter of the White House moron is getting married. Watch for more little Bushies from the same polluted gene pool.

What are you complaining about? CNN has Padilla as the lead story while it was metioning the breaking news. This site is for retards.

  40. Calling Franck Eggelhoffer... says:

    Just another dumb blonde story…

  41. Jackie says:

This is a good way to cover up the wild sex parties and drugs. Now we call it engagement. Let’s see how many more engagements the wild twins have as they continue to party with drugs and alcohol and yes many men. As soon as a reporter catches Jenna with another man CNN will report the engagement is over. Then another young man will become the next sucker to get pulled in this sick family. Hold off buying an engagement present this isn’t over yet. The wild twins go through men like people in California drink bottled water.

  42. cheney_usa says:

Jenna’s future father-in-law was undersecretary of Education for special ed, so he had alot of contact with Bush.

He also used to be a tobacco exec: here’s his deposition:

  43. Francois says:

How about some pictures of Jenna?

  44. elvis says:

The headline now says: BREAKING! Victoria Beckham to offer fashion advice in new book!

CNN is about as relevant as US Weekly, but somehow, still a far better source of information than FOX. So pathetic!

  45. Steve Kessler says:

Please note: Think Progress does too.

  46. Tracy says:

The reason CNN didn’t chose to cover the Bush engagement over the Padilla anouncement is because he was CONVICTED. If he were to have been found to be innocent it would have been front page on their web site with multiple links to people ranting and moaning about the fact that Padilla has been held as a enemy combatant for so long and that it was a huge travisty for the justice system.

    Comment by Tracy — August 16, 2007 @ 4:59 pm

There are two factors in the market sell off. First, the changes to the bankruptcy laws have led to a dramatic rise in foreclosures which solely affects the banking industry. Secondly, the funds use that as a reason to separate a stock’s actual performance from reality whether it’s banking or high tech. The Mattel incident added fuel to the profiteer’s fire.

There was a buying run late in the day that erased a good part of today’s losses. It was the day trader who suffered.

So the market is correcting itself because these LONG over due changes to bankruptcy laws are having an effect?

Want happend to the LONG overdue changes in corporate bankruptcy laws. The current law only requires companies to pay off preffered lenders not the companies 401K, or pension, or meet all their debts like individuals have to. Companies think the government is their mommy waiting to take care of them.

  57. RUCerious says:

the mortage default rates skyrocketing are a combination of several factors, and have a hand in what’s going on with the market.
Many borrowers took on interest only and ARMs with the plan of selling before the Arm increases took hold. Then the housing prices flattened, and they couldn’t flip at a profit. Now their bailing, and the holders of those bad loans are getting shat on by wall street.
Lots of blame to go around. I’ve only shed about 10 grand of my 401K so far. Not time to panic. Yet.

  59. Jeff says:

I don’t care for CNN anymore than the rest of the MSM (except for Keith O. of course).
However, to be fair, I was on their site when I heard the verdict was going to be announced. They had that Jenna Bush crap posted but the tag line changed to Pedilla story as soon as the verdict was announced in open court.

The Padilla story is so important it should have appeared alone. That’s how they always do it with important stories, right? They never clutter up the page with a lot of stories, do they? ;)

  71. Probus says:

CNN is no longer the most trusted name in news. Their coverage is always skewed to the right. Neo-cons are often invited to their shows. Like Fixed News they are often blatantly dishonest and factually irresponsible in their coverage. Blitzer can’t even tell the difference between Sen. Sessions and the Defense Secretary.

  72. Carol Lam says:

Think Progress should have been following the trial. Lew Koch at FireDogLake has had some excellent articles and TP should have been sending people there.

This is an abomination. A show trial – our just us system is broken and we need to fix it.
