CNN: Snow may resign as early as September.

Yesterday, ThinkProgress noted that White House Press Secretary Tony Snow revealed that he will not be “going the distance” and will resign before President Bush’s term is over. Today, CNN reports that it has “independently learned that it could be as early as September when he actually leaves his job.” Watch it:

Mr. Snow’s health is an issue. I don’t care for him and the what he’s a mouthpiece for but I don’t wish him any physical harm or ill will.

Good luck in combating cancer Mr. Snow.

  2. upside00 says:

hellinabucket, I agree with your sentiments but I do have to wonder how much all this lying and subterfuge weighed on him, after he had his reoccurance. I am a cancer survivor, and I know I did a LOT of soul searching.

  3. dim wit says:

Snow is your typical Republican pu$$y. He’s only been WH Press Secty since April 2006 and he’s already leaving.
Personally, I say fu(k him. Better people than him have died of cancer and tens of thousands of innocents have died in Iraq while he sang the party line.

  4. Mickey "Mick" Goldmill says:

Good luck in combating cancer Mr. Snow.

But I’m betting on a KO in the 15th by the big C.

  5. Art says:

Is he going back to Faux News?

  6. Badmoodman says:

Well maybe Snow is lying too but he said the other day he needs to quit so he can make some real money. Whatever.

  7. dogeatdogi says:

And Melanie Morgan is SUCH a DOUCHEBAG!!

  8. Dave C says:

SNOW: No, I’m not going to be…I’ve already made it clear I’m not going to be able to go the distance, but that’s primarily for financial reasons. I’ve told people when my money runs out, then I’ve got to go.

Why would the money run out? Does his job pay minimum wage? If so he should get a nice bump. Maybe he has no healthcare and the expenses are mounting. But seriously, what money will run out? I assumed he’d be well paid for taking all of the tomatoes aimed at GWB.

  10. billjpa says:

Boy are they leaving the sinking ship.

  11. River says:

I wish Snow no ill will, but I’ll be damned if I’ll wish him good luck. He is a lying swine of a man, whose contempt for humanity is at least the equal of the jackals he has so faithfully served- from Fox “News” to the White House.

  12. dim wit says:

I see that you are not only mentally, but morally libtarded as well.

    You should be institutionalized.

    Comment by Liberator — August 17, 2007 @ 5:47 pm

    Whoo Hoo!
    I’m “libtarded!”

I will assume by institutionalized, you mean sent to Gitmo for expressing my 1st Amendment rights.

  13. dogeatdogi says:

Did the Tweety show just cut Melanie the douchebags feed? Ha!!

  14. hellinabucket says:

upside00, Glad to hear you are a survivor. Snow has to deal with what he is a part of and maybe his decision to leave is partially based on the amount of crap he’s had to peddle. Instant Karma’s gonna getcha.

  15. rich says:

dim wit your a hard person, and after 6+ years of this neocon, bush bullshit so am i, i say “bring ‘em on,” and “suck it up” Snow. as your fearless leader say’s we all die who cares what people think after your dead.(george is a cowboy you know)

  16. OldSchoolLiberal says:

Snow’s looking worse and worse with each news conference. And his voice is getting choked and hoarse, which is probably a side-effect of one of his chemo drugs– my late sister had colon cancer too, and one of the brand-new drugs caused larygeal spasming.

Tony, time to settle your accounts. I’ve watched someone die of colon cancer, and it’s a horrible way to die. At least stop lying for this Ship of Fools and Crooks. Let yourself go with a clear conscience, sir.

  17. upside00 says:

hellinabucket – Yea, Kharma can be a major bi-otch! Just hope Tony’s working on his.

  18. ORION says:

Hasn’t anyone else noticed when the trolls get really annoying, like in the last week, something [things] go(es) horribly wrong in the GOP camp?

Well, Tony, I didn’t much care for your politics, nor for the infinite Fauxian divisive and partisan spin issued thru you and the White House. I am relatively sure your resignation has to do with your *health and hope that you beat cancer.
[*Plus the wide swath of destruction left by Karls divisive/partisanship]

That would be Dana the Dish Periodontal Disease.

  24. Ninbus says:

I’ve also noticed that TS looks worse with each presser – note his graying and thinning hair. While, to me, he is the spokesperson for the worst scum on earth, I certainly have compassion for his medical situation. It’s too bad he can’t be up front about it (viz. Elizabeth Edwards) and has to come up with the bulls*it money excuse. Ever a liar. He reports, we decide.

  25. gummitch says:

We need to start a pool. Does Dana get the full-time job or will they bring in a better liar . . . one of the smart guys? Hey, maybe Bill Kristol wants to take a shot at standing up in front of Helen Thomas.

    Ha. I crack me up.

  26. pbg says:

What the ‘money’ thing may be, is his working to leave his family something.
Did Tony Snow fool anyone as press secretary? No.
Ari Fleischer might have, but at this point he was the clown in the dunk tank.

  27. ronjazz says:

  28. Wayne says:

    Why not today?
Not that he serves any purpose other than spouting Bushco lies

  29. Tom3 says:

After all, they’re all just coasting to the finish line.

  30. Theodoric of York, Medieval Press Spokesman says:

How harsh. But I agree with you, especially the “tens of thousands of innocents have died in Iraq while he sang the party line.”

Last I heard, his cancer is incurable. Yet he’s still lying. No soul searching for him, I guess.

  60. bilbobaggins says:

“Ok, I see sometimes that corporations seem to be the bad guys because its assumed they make a lot of money and people want to tax them. not my real name”

All I want is for Corporations to pay their fair share of taxes. If corporations paid the same tax today they paid in the 1980’s, we could pay off Bush’s enormous credit card debt for the Iraq fiasco in less than a year. Here in Oregon, the minimum Corporate tax is $10.00. That’s ten dollars for gods sake. So, not my real name, do you think that Corporations should pay their fair share of taxes.

I would also like to see Corporations penalized when they incorporate offshore to avoid paying taxes in this country. Do you know that there is a house in the Caymen Islands that is home to over 14,000 corporations. Do you think that is something that should be allowed?

You ask us questions and we answer. So, I’m asking you questions. Will you answer?

  66. Dave C says:

    not my real name…

Yes, I would support a tax incentive for employers to make their fleet vehicles electric/gas operated. I would also support a tax increase for those that have fleets & don’t upgrade.

I don’t see corporations as bad guys at all. I doubt many do. What I do see as bad is when large corporations make billions of $ and don’t pay their fair share of taxes. The same applies to wealthy individuals. Warren Buffet has said that he pays a lower % of tax then the secretaries that work for him. Huge oil companies pay next to nothing on their income due to incentives. If a large corporation is struggling that means it’s not making money so it legitimately won’t be paying taxes. Since I have no animosity for any large corporations that pay taxes I’d have none for those that don’t make profit. Profit is good, more profit is better, so long as you recognize that more profit should generate more tax.

Minimum wage should be an amount that allows a person to live reasonably, pay for shelter & feed him/herself. If you are hiring someone you should be required to pay this wage. If a person is “illegal” you would either not be aware of that, in which case of course you should pay the minimum wage or you’re breaking the law & you are the cause of the immigration problem.

  73. Dave C says:

Corporate taxes are actually “regressive” as they are passed on to the consumer.

Toliver, I guess you also believe that corporations that get tax breaks lower their prices. It’s a myth that corporate taxes are regressive & it’s ignorant to use that as a justification for corporations to pay less tax. Corporations that make more money don’t lower their prices, they pay their executives more money for the success they’ve achieved. They also pay their owners more dividends for taking the risk of ownership. But they don’t lower their prices. Conversely, corporations that pay taxes don’t increase their prices as their taxes go up. That wouldn’t make sense. If you assume that a corporation is in the X% tax bracket it will pay more tax only as it earns more money (assuming that it’s a fair tax as I’m espousing). So what you’re saying is that as a corporation makes more money & therefore pays more taxes they will also be inclined to increase their prices. That’s bull$hit. Taxes are a given. Or they used to be. The more you make the more you pay in a fair society.

  78. not my real name says:

I respect the answers you guys gave me. To be honest, I dont know what is fair as far as what percentage a corporation pays. I do think that there is a number that people and or corporations see as not worth the risk. meaning why should i invest my millions and risk loss if the government takes x amount. I think we all agree that some taxes are needed to allow a business to operate in a community, but I think the % rate is what we differ on. I for one decided not to flip an investment property that i built because i didnt want to pay the capital gains rate (which would have cost me 30%)on a short term capital gain, so i lived in in 2 yrs and then sold it. Had the tax rate been a little lower I might have sold it right away. Dont get me wrong, I am not a rich conservative, and make 50k gross a yr. I was one of those people who bought a second home in the midst of the nutty housing market. By the time my two yrs were up I really didnt make any money at all because the market slowed, and looking back, I probably would have been better off paying the tax

  81. bilbobaggins says:

Actually, it is the service station that makes 10 cents a gallon. The oil companies make much more. So, if you don’t think that the oil companies are raking it in, then tell me why every time the cost of gasoline goes up, the profits of the oil companies skyrocket? Just coincidence?

How about answering questions for a while rather than asking them. That’s what discourse is all about. Give and take.
