I hope they don’t call me to testify, because I’m scared of lawyers, and judges, and bailiffs, and orange suits, and jail, and other prisoners, and, and….. ohhhhh noooooo, please don’t let them have me, I didn’t mean it, truly……

Many Americans are unaware of the influence of the Israel lobby. Instead they think of the US as “the world’s sole superpower,” a macho new Roman Empire whose orders are obeyed without question or the insolent nonentity is “bombed back to the stone age.” Many Americans are convinced that military coercion serves our interest. They cite Libya, Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and now they are ready to bring Iran and Pakistan to heel with bombs. http://www.counterpunch.org/roberts08152007.html

Of course this situation does beg the obvious question… if BruschCo didn’t do anything wrong, why are the employees resigning in droves and even taking the 5th? Sure looks bad.

Anybody besides me hear that high-pitched whining in here? Sounds like a mosquito, or maybe a gnat?

  18. Tobey Tall Says:

As former DEA agent and radio host Michael Levine noted in a recent interview with Australian Luke Ryland, a blogger who has written the most extensive investigative reports on the Edmonds case, the U.S. Congress has rarely tackled thorny issues like this Turkish corruption case. Not only do the Democrats have no backbone, but many of their own are bought off by the same special interest groups as the GOP, especially in the areas that touch on the military industrial complex and foreign policy. Most of the progressive community have not yet caught on to this harsh reality, and instead is focused on the 2008 elections. More sound advice would be to forget about 2008 and start holding the Democratic Party to its campaign promises. Otherwise, the illegal Bush wars will grind on and the corruption will continue unabated- albeit the Democrats will be getting a greater share of the lobbyist largesse.

  19. Hardy Haberman Says:

So many jumping ship? I suspect it’s about to get real ugly in the White House.

  20. Probus Says:

What Schlozman did at the Justice Department hurt the department’s credibility. Congress should further investigate who in the White House was behind the effort to politicize the Justice Department. A special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate the many aspects to this scandal.

  21. Zooey Says:

Schlotzy never had a clue as to what his job was supposed to be, he just ran with what his keepers told him. Good little RWA that his, it was good enough for him.

    Slime ball.

It’s great that so many of the criminals have left DOJ. No doubt they are off to jobs/offices where they can do more damage. It’d be interesting to see where all the Regent grads get to.

Actually a vocal would be even better. How can we forget his voice!

  27. liz Says:

the Civil Rights department has been hurt other than voting rights….. all working disabled American citizens have been abused as well. The DOJ lied about that too.

  28. VerbalKint Says:

The usual reason: resigning to spend more time with his criminal defense team.

  29. Tobey Tall Says:

Sibel Edmonds, President, National Security Whistleblowers Coalition, will discuss being fired by the FBI in March 2002 for reporting shoddy work and security breaches that may have prevented the 9/11 attacks.

  30. Tobey Tall Says:

Simply electing Democrats will not result in uncovering and rooting out this kind of rank corruption in the Executive Branch and Congress. Similarly, electing the right folks has not resulted in a rapid withdrawal from Iraq. The only real hope for making these hearings happen is to follow-up on the Democratic electoral victory by holding the politicians’ feet to the fire. As Ellsberg is fond of saying, they may not see the light, but they’ll feel the heat.

Let’s make them feel the heat.

I have a picture forming in my mind. George and Dick wandering around an empty White House. When they meet, George asks, “What should I do, Dick”? Dick answers, “Go f**k yourself!”

  32. River Says:

If I was the Shlozman, I’d instruct my attorney to cut the best deal they could with Johnny Law.

That is, assuming the Justice Department retains even a shred of integrity with a corrupt Attorney General as its boss.

And that’s no cheap shot. That where it’s at.

Leastwise, at this point in time, I have absolutely no faith- whatsoever- in the people who work at the department of Justice. They’ll have to prove me wrong for me to think otherwise.

They’ve all been discredited, and will remain so until things change. Starting at the top.

  33. Styve Says:

#42: Where is that list of people who have left in the past year? It’s getting pretty lengthy now, as another rat has jumped the ship of fools.

Yes, although I don’t see any evidence that any of them have jumped ship because they can’t abide the administration’s blatant venality. Most of them, I suspect, are hoping to avoid being subpoenaed and/or indicted. For the sake of this country’s future, I sincerely hope that every last one of them who is guilty of criminal behavior is tried in a court of law, convicted, and given appropriate sentencing.

  43. The Oracle Says:

I’m watching “All the President’s Men” on Cinemax, the 1976 movie about the Watergate break-in and the fall of Richard Nixon…and can’t help but see the similarities between all the “dirty tricks” of the Nixon administration and all the “dirty tricks,” along with the outright subversion of our democracy, by the Bush administration.

The Nixon administration used all of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies to try to guarantee Nixon’s 1972 reelection, while the Bush administration is trying to use all of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies to assure permanent Republican control of all the levers of our federal government.

This is the only difference between the corrupt Nixon administration and the corrupt Bush administration, with the corrupt Bush executive branch and rubber stamp Republicans in Congress going far beyond what Nixon’s administration attempted.

I expect soon that the Bush administration will even find some pretext to declare martial law, seizing absolute, totalitarian, fascist control of our freedom-loving democracy…or at least they’ll try.

Even Nixon didn’t try such a Communist, Kremlin-like stunt…but I wouldn’t put anything past the corrupt Bush administration attempting to hold onto power.

We spend more on the military than the entire western industrialized world including Japan and Israel, yet we are the only one in that groyup that does not have universal heal;th care , high speedd rail transportation etc. Its little wonder there is no money for roads and bridges..
