Elizabeth Reyes, an “attorney fired from the Texas secretary of state’s office for talking publicly about presidential adviser Karl Rove,” has “filed a lawsuit, saying she is the victim of political pressure.” In 2005, Reyes spoke to a Washington Post reporter about voter residency in Texas. Her quotes then showed up in a story about whether Rove was still eligible to vote in the state. Reyes was dismissed after Rove called Secretary of State Roger Williams, a large GOP donor, about her quotes.
There’s a long line forming at the bench, Karl, don’t go to far away…
August 21st, 2007 at 10:24 amSo, is her cause of action “Being a victim of political pressure”? Hopefully, this case gets dismissed just like Valerie Plame’s went down in flames.
August 21st, 2007 at 10:25 amJake, you used to lose jobs and get fired in Communist Russia for not thinking the “right way”. Now nitwits think that this is how America is supposed to run. Another sign of the political and moral degradation at the hands of the Bush/Rove/Cheney misrule.

August 21st, 2007 at 10:27 amLike every other liberal, this woman is blaming others for her own incompetance. Waa.
Rove should have thrown her into his Secret American Gulag System.
August 21st, 2007 at 10:29 amBut, But, but, Rove DID it!
August 21st, 2007 at 10:30 amRove was upset because he voted absentee in Texas while voting in Virginia during the 2004 election. He felt that his image was besmerched.
August 21st, 2007 at 10:31 amSue Rove for every dime he has and put him into destitution.
August 21st, 2007 at 10:32 amI have not been able to find the exact causes of action yet. Her lawsuit seeks lost wages and unspecified punitive damages. In addition, Ms. Reyes asks that references to her termination be eliminated from her state employment file. She should have thought about that before she violated agency policy, specifically her unautorized discussion of Rove’s residency issue with the media.

August 21st, 2007 at 10:36 amHey if Rover voted in two different states in last election, then he is in deep do do. What a fat pudgy fool he is for real.
August 21st, 2007 at 10:38 amNo. Her case is for being fired from a government job as a result of a political vendetta. As for the Plame affair, treason was admitted to by at least one insider in the BA (Armitage), and there was clearly an effort to cover up that capital crime. There was also a conviction for obsruction of justice. Yet, there have been no repercussions. Bet you’re proud of your fellow ‘patriots’.
August 21st, 2007 at 10:38 amThank goodness the Supreme Court will protect Rove when it is all said and done. These witch hunts are out of hand.
You gotta hand it to Rove – without his genius, the GOP wouldn’t have a lock on the Supreme Court.

Did you actually read the linked wapo article? If you did, you may have noticed it included a correction, which read in part:
“The attorney, Elizabeth Reyes, was not asked about Rove by name. The articles also should have included Reyes’s statement that an individual’s intent to return to Texas is a primary factor in qualifying for residency.”
In other words, Reyes was merely responding to general questions she was asked regarding residency requirements. This is not secret classified information and she did not violate any policy doing this. She was not asked about Rove by name, even though the article implied she was speaking about his specific residence (my guess is she was asked about a hypothetical residence like Rove’s, since that’s the only way that scenario could have happened without Rove’s name being mentioned). Unless there is some serious transgression on Reyes’ part nobody is talking about, she didn’t do anything wrong — she probably didn’t even know the subject was Rove.
It’s fairly obvious that Rove got busted as a result of that article and needed a scapegoat. Reyes was it.

The Republicans in Congress are getting a 29% approval rating, and the Democrats are getting a 37% approval rating, according to Gallup. And yes, Bush’s latest Gallup number is 32% (down from 34%).
You accompanied my request for a link with a few snarky comments about me that strike me as odd (I’m out of date, my views are out of date, and there’s some implication of a comparison between me and Stalin, which seems a bit bizarre). For gods sake Jakie, what makes you think that anyone on this site would want to discuss anything with you. Most of the people on this site, including me, would consider it a huge waste of time trying to discuss anything with you. You write like a 12 year old and your thought processes are those of a 12 year old. If you really are 75, my suspicion is that you are in the early stages of Dementia.
August 21st, 2007 at 12:57 pmI found a James M. Dort in San Diego about the age that Jake claims to be. Anyone in the San Diego area want to look this guy up and see if he posts to TP?
You know Jakie, it is awfully easy to steal someone else’ identity on the Internet.
August 21st, 2007 at 1:05 pmJake,
First, you are not posting here to contribute to the discussion, or to learn. Your posts are intended to disrupt and derail the thread. Time and time again your “positions†are refuted on one thread, but you repeatedly post the same nonsense.
Second, you are not a 75 year-old veteran as you claim. I don’t know who you are and don’t really care, except that you are an imposter.
Third, you are wrong 100% of the time. You are a sycophant, one of the piss ants sent out from the nest to defend the queen ant. You are a mindless, senseless, sexless drone.
And finally, how do I get on this list? I see the people on the list and I am jealous, it would be an honor to be categorized with ones so interesting, smart and funny. I understand that you have to post something disgusting, so let me give it a shot.
The most vile, despicable and disgusting thing I can come up with is you and your ilk’s support of Bush and Bush’s War. You are knee deep in the blood of our finest soldiers. Their lives should haunt you to your grave, their suffering from loss of limbs and piece of mind should be yours. The tears of their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and friends should be your shower. Bush supporters are traitors and should suffer a traitor’s death.
Vile enough for you?

You’re entirely too kind. Jake’s been demented ever since the Air Force rejected him. he saw a Korean once, so he’s fought in Korea. he’s in late stages of dementia, Reagan territory, and will soon claim to have fought in WW2, as Reagan the Liar did. when Hillary Clinton is president, all of these loons will move to North Korea, as they are terrified of women. America will once again be free and something to be proud of. In the meantime, we have to deal with these fascist wannabe cowards best we can.
“Ignore lists” only work if you ignore people on the list, jake. You’re too far gone to figure that out, hey?
August 21st, 2007 at 3:57 pmAlthough this is about the funniest thread I’ve found in weeks, let me toss in a little “subject matter”. The alleged residence Karl Rove used to base his Texas residency and absentee voting on was a small fishing cabin without utilities, apparently little more than a shack [fact checkers help me out?]. A local man in that area (not far from San Antonio, it was in our paper) filed charges against Rove. He got in trouble [influence] and the end result was, even if it’s a tar-paper shack, iffen ya calls it yer home it is just that. Darn. But the double-voting thing sounds hopeful.

Connect the Dots: Karl Rove’s Politics Uber Alles Strategy and the Utah Mine Disaster
Posted August 20, 2007 | 05:08 PM (EST)
What makes Karl Rove’s politics uber alles strategy chilling is connecting the dots between it and the Utah mining disaster.
Rove’s unprecedented use of federal assets for political gain, laid out in yesterday’s Washington Post, meant that every tool at his disposal was employed to help foster his goal of a permanent Republican majority. “It was all politics, all the time,” Rep. Henry Waxman told WaPo.
