Pentagon shuts down database that monitored peace rallies.

The Pentagon said it will shut down an anti-terror database, known as TALON, that has been criticized for improperly storing information on peace activists and others who posed no threat. “Anti-war groups and other organizations, including a Quaker group — the American Friends Service Committee — protested after it was revealed that the military had monitored anti-war activities, organizations and individuals who attended peace rallies.” The Pentagon said the database is being shut down because “the analytical value had declined,” but expressed it hopes that a new system will replace it in the near future.

Yeah, one in the future that can get your picture, attach your name, home address and personel information to it. Then it will be so easy to raid you in the middle of night and hauled off to a nice little prison camp somewhere. All that for not agreeing to their sick line of thought.

  3. stopthecons says:

so all this means to me is that they have a NEW database or program that they’re not telling us about…..yet….

Of course, these politicians would like us to believe that we have nothing to worry about if we’re doing nothing wrong…but that’s not the issue.

As soon as we give politicians this kind of power – or don’t stop them from using it, we’re in big trouble.

    Dear Ringo:

The Peter Gabriel song “Games Without Frontiers” is a commentary on lax sexual morays, and the verses are rife with references to particular sexual predilictions.

Every time I observe your verbal masturbations here, I am reminded of that particular verse.

As far as capitalizing “it”, that is simply my addition for emphasis, as well as a play on the acronym for information technology.

Perhaps you’ve mistaken me for someone who gives a rats ass whether you get it or not.

  61. Lewis Walsh says:

Another good reason why you should take action, make the pledge for a better America. The Six Years and Out movement requires no time or resources. There are no financial contributions to be made no meetings to attend no speeches to endure. A citizen need only make the following pledge to himself then spread the word to others. If you are fed up with pay-to-play government and duopoly party rule, you should make the pledge.

Six Years and Out, The Pledge

With the recognition that there are huge numbers of intelligent, talented and qualified citizens who are prepared to limit their public service. I hereby pledge that I will not vote a second term for any United States Senator and no more three terms for any United States Congressman.
